[Q] Reboots and freezes - do new Nexus 10's also get those? - Nexus 10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I was amongst the lucky ones to get Nexus 10 during the first sellout. Me, like a lot of others were and still are having random freezes and reboots. I think it is related with the software, and will be fixed soon (i hope).
So I just wanted to check, if people who are getting their new Nexus 10's right now, are they also experiencing these freezes and reboots? If yes, then it means that it is definitely a software issue and I should wait for an update.
If, however new owners do not get these issues, than it could mean that the first batch was faulty and should ask a replacement.
Please let me know if you are a new Nexus 10 owner, and if you are experiencing any freezes and reboots?
Thanks

Yes, but are you a new owner or not?

New owner here...rooted unlocked..mostly stock. Loaded AOSP browser have not used chrome ..0 reboots / freezes for what its worth. Gl

I've had mine since the 20th of December. Screen freezes touch will not work and have to hard reset are several times a day. Sometimes reboots by itself. Calling Google tomorrow.
Sent from my SPH-L900 using Tapatalk 2

Got mine on Christmas day from my wife, but it was ordered November 20th. The only time mine has frozen (and required a reboot) has been when using Chrome. Even the new beta version of Chrome causes my tablet to freeze up. However, if I use AOSP browser my tablet never freezes.

My new replacement nexus 10 was delivered on the 10th of January.
I've had 2 reboots across 2 days. both caused by using Chrome.

Received mine new from Walmart on January 3. Upgraded to 4.2.1 shortly after receiving it.
It has locked up and become unresponsive at least once every day. The most I've experienced is 3 times in one day.
Other than that, I've had no issues.

I have mine from 03.01.13, had one reboot on the first day, then after upgrading to 4.2.1 had none

Had mine for 4 days now. About 10 lockup-freeze-reboots so far, mostly while in Chrome.
I'm going to RMA mine.

2.3.4 random google server disconnects

All -
Just wanted to see if anyone else was having an issue where after a manual 2.3.4 update the Nexus S will regularly "go white" (lose google server connection) and then reconnect throughout the day more than normal?
It's getting annoying not having my emails pushed on time and don't know if I need to reflash the 2.3.3 radio then let the OTA do its thing.
THanks!
I have the same symptom.
However, mine started since 2.3.3
For some reason, I used to think was related to me logging in Google Chrome
web browser with the same account as my phone uses, but I don't think that
was really the cause. ( I'm not talking about just gmail website log in, I'm talking
about literally the sync of Google Chrome web browser with my gmail account that
I use on my phone.)
Even after the update to 2.3.4, its stilll the same.
Random loss of google server connection and remaining in white for brief time.
I did factory reset few times just to see if it'd fix, but no luck, yet.
I've been having this issue too ever since I got on 2.3.4. It doesn't seem to happen when I'm on wifi though. I got my update over the air too, if that matters.
Sent from my Nexus S using Tapatalk
It's been happening to me for a while as well. Even back in 2.3.3 when I was on CM7 and OEM. I seriously think it's a problem on Google's side and they really need to address it because it keeps logging me off of Gtalk which is annoying.
I'm having the same problem since April 14, I've tried everything flashing stock 2.3.1-2-3-4, CM7, changing Apn setting, changing my sim card, factory resets and nothing works.
This is definitely coming from Google's side, please post in the google help forums to get the word out to google, this is a serious problem.

myself have noticed this since 2.3.4 although I think it's google end not the rom itself.
don't like it because the more often it happens... the more your battery is used...
hope it's not our carriers...
All -
There's a thread on this in the help forums but since I'm a n00b i can't post the link here. Search for the help thread titled "Nexus S Google connection on & off "
Thanks! Let's get this fixed.
Four months ago this thread was created. Still not a word from Google.
If you go to Google's help forum here: http://www.google.vu/support/forum/p/Google+Mobile/thread?tid=7c7a962fd3ae87e2&hl=en
You can see that the last response from anyone at Google was from 2 months back. This issue need to be fixed, but it looks like Google could care less. Maybe if we get the word out to Android Central and other Android blogs, or even Gizmodo or Engadget Google will actually take notice and try to fix this.
mine was related to my carrier... fixed it though
might be the same for you?
I had that problem, but was fixed when google released a server update months ago, never had a disconnect since.

I still have this problem.

I'd like to know how you got this issue resolved ...I've been having this problem on an EVO that was replaced for my original EVO that drowned... constantly disconnects talk, gives me issues when downloading from market, gmail out of sync, even maps has issues...wtf...my OG EVO never had this problem...maybe you can shed some light...

anything you did specifically yesterday? install an app. do an update?
also has anyone tried factory resetting their phone?
I got my Airave a few days ago and I am constantly disconnected from Google's servers unless I am on wifi. The stupid thing about that is my Airave connects directly to my modem before the router. This is telling me it must be a carrier thing.
I'm seeing something similar but it has to do with switching between 3g and wifi. The green doesn't come in for like 3 to 4 minutes. If I launch gtalk it sits there at logging in and nothing happens.

I'm willing to conclude based on the widespread nature of this issue that it's an issue on Google's end that has recently been affecting a larger number of people.
I've never had this issue before.. and recently it's started. In fact, I even have seen a few FC's (force closes) of the Google Apps process which I had never seen before. I'm on stock 2.3.4 BTW.

Google Play Books starting to get annoying.

Does anyone have this issue with Google Play Books working then after 2 days the app is missing? When ever it happens I have to uninstall updates then update it again for it to show up. I think part of it is that I live in Guam, part of U.S. at the same time not really. Same situation as Puerto Rico. Anyone have any suggestions for this problem. Besides going back to the mainland.

I was able to download the app back from the Play store after it disappeared and now it stays. Go look through the list of apps you own / have downloaded.
It disappeared again from the home screen and app drawer, widget disappeared too, so I decided to check settings>apps> all and its there but unusable, have to uninstall then install. Sigh, it's such a hassle to check if it disappeared when going to places without Wi-Fi.Just purchased 3 books, and would be a waste of money to switch to another app.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2
If you are rooted, you can convert it to a user app instead of system and it'll stay. That's what I did and I've never actually been to the us
I see, thanks, just going to stay stock for a month. I've always rooted my phones on day one and never experienced pure stock before, plus its different with a nexus, there's no sd card, so all my content would get wiped, nearly filled my 16 gb, and could imagine how long everything would take to put back.

Little Tip mate, stop uninstalling and re-downloading etc.
Try downloading a File Explorer e.g. - ES File Explorer.
Find the App in the File Explorer, long press it and click "Create Shortcut" BAM!
Hope this helps !

I'm still on stock too, I just unlocked and flashed su and bb for the little extra functionality.
Sadly, unlocking will do a complete wipe. But I picked up something about rooting without unlocking, using a method from the galaxy. Not sure it'll work tho, at least one person here suggested that it should. Might be worth looking up if you feel books is worth the trouble

Amazon Appstore problems?

Is anyone else having problems with this? I am currently seeing 2 problems.
1) not optimized for the screen resolution making sign in very difficult. This is to be expected so isn't a big deal.
2) appetite keeps signing me out which causes none of the apps to work until it is really signed into?
I thought the 2nd one might be related to the multi user ability of the tab but I only have a single user.
Anyone else seeing g this problem?

I have the same issues with the app.
I have no problem with the app. I signed in and setup everything already.
Yep, I see the same. The logging you out issue makes amazon appstore a showstopper for me right now.

I emailed Amazon and they say it's a known problem and are working on fixing it. no ETA
I was poking around Amazon and came across the Manage your devices menu. Its filled with the Nexus 10 over and over. It must be creating a new device ID every time we login.
I got this from Amazon and seems to work.

Please note that this is a temporary work around and is only for the time-being -- until we’ve the permanent fix available.

[Q] just got my nexus7, upgrade?

Just got my nexus 7 and is asking for an upgrade. The question is, should I upgrade or not? I'm asking cuz I've seen some post with some bugs on the new upgrade.
BTW This is the best $249 I have ever spend on any gadget.

You can go ahead and try it out. If you don't like it you can always go back to the way it was.
Ya I just mine tonight at staples. I'm gonna hold off on the update and just root later. I miss the theming like on my dinc2 running pa.

I have yet to upgrade and still on 4.1.2 and runs great! I have seen way to many negative reviews on 4.2 or 4.2.1. I just wish I could have the update stop refreshing and asking me if I want to update. Drives me nuts!
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2
well just want to let you know guys, I just run the 4.2 update and in the first boot it ask me for the 4.2.1 upgrade and I run it too. So far I have not notice any bug. The wifi one was the one wiries me but at the first boot it logged automatically to my router dlink cisco e1200 and i have full signal as I had before. I have amo-Navi-x sideloaded and I stream a 1080p movie right away, no lags no nothing.

LG V20 on Sprint - hanging/freezing/performance issues

My first 5-6 days with this phone were pretty solid.
Now, once or twice a day the phone will just start hanging, and eventually freeze, requiring a battery pull.
This will happen randomly. No particular app that I can pinpoint is contributing.
I have noticed it seems to have occurred some times when either an email or text is arriving.
It also has happened without an email or text coming in.
Of course it may be an app. I am dreading a factory reset, but think I need to. Then will load the apps fresh from the Play store instead of transferring them from my previous Note 4 like I did initially.
I searched online regarding this issue....there are only 2 YouTube videos from users. One said he just had a bad phone, exchanged it, and is now fine. Other comments pointed to Facebook app vs using the Samsung 256 gig memory card (from Note 7 owners, which is what I am actually doing).
Any tips on how to stop this vs how to capture what is causing this is appreciated.
FWIW: using the BlueMail and Textra for default apps.
I've noticed this too using the sprint version. I have to reboot the phone to fix it

Sometimes it is hung up so much I cant reboot and am forced to take off my case and pull the battery. There has never been an overheating issue for me.

Yea ive seen this happen more and more often. I'm on tmobile though.
Does this on verizon also

Have the same problem. Am on T-mobile. Hopefully an update to 7.1 comes soon.
Any word when 7.1 will happen?

My phone [Sprint] also does this. The entire phone locks up requiring a battery pull. Hope to find a solution soon.

Same thing started happening to me - week 3 with T-Mobile variant.
Thanks for heads-up on this potential issue, I'm on day 2 of this device, and it seems fine thus far, but I'll be on the look out...perhaps a reboot once a week like the Samsung devices will help.
I'm still unhappy about Sprint leaving out the lg gallery app, and the content lock with this app. I tried the side loaded lg gallery apk, and although it installs okay, the lock feature doesn't work!
Sent from my LG-LS997 using Tapatalk
Never had this happen, on sprint, had the phone since before the official release
Am on T-Mobile. I was having to do a battery pull once or twice a day. I gave up and did a reset and reinstall. Never had an LG phone before and tried out the Backup and Restore program. Worked fine although I didn't try reinstalling any of my Exchange accounts for fear of corruption or deletion of emails, calendar events, contacts.
Was happy with the speed of the reinstall. Especially with the sms. I have about 16,000 sms and mms. When I got this phone I used that and it took almost 6 hours to restore those messages. With the LG backup and restore, everything took less than 3 hours.

Probably after it is available as a final for Nexus devices...AKA 2017. Even Nexus phones are beta-ing until 2017 probably.
I've had my Sprint model since day 2 and it has never done this.
Looks like it might have been Lux and its persistent notification that was responsible for the slowdowns. I disabled it and everything seems must faster.
Lux? As in the app to control brightness?
Sent from my LG-LS997 using Tapatalk
Never had any lag or freezing on mine either. Have had since sprint release day, didn't restore or transfer anything over. Everything was setup as new, just transferred sd card with music and pictures.

Yes Lux the brightness app. I noticed the worst lag when pulling down the notification drawer and thought it might be related to Lux's brightness widget, which seems to have proved to be the case. Disabling its notification privileges and haven't seen any lag all day.
Never had even a moment of hesitation since owning the phone (Verizon).
