Is there any way to wipe APN settings? - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I popped in a different network sim card into my phone to try out a different carrier's coverage, then put the old sim back in. Manually added the old APN and tried using "default" APN settings. Can't get a data connection at all either way though. I've tried reinstalling the ROM and Kernel. Any way to wipe the APN ?

Yeah i tried that but still nothing. Was wondering if maybe there is an app i can "clear data" in app management. Or possibly reflash my radio? Unless i've somehow broken my 3g radio..seems doubtful though.
I guess ill play around with the APN and see if i can get it back.

Touch HD and AT&T EDGE - Cannot Connect

Hello, Has anyone been able to connect to AT&T Edge on their Touch HD? I can't seem to connect to it. I tried the below settings and it still wouldn't connect. I have the PPC $30 unlimited data plan from AT&T. Please help!
1. Start > Settings > Connections > Connections
2. Manage existing connections
3. If you see SingTel already in there, click edit. Otherwise, click New
4. Put in a new name (I just used "att")
5. Access point name: wap.cingular. Hit Next
6. User name: [email protected], password: cingular1, no domain
7. Hit Finish
I'm on ATT with my Touch HD and I have a big "E" on my status bar... I assume that means I'm on the edge network
I have edge on mine also. I connect using the media net @ $15 (unlimited data) a month. As att doesn't know what phone I have
Try to take your SIM card out, boot the phone, pull the battery out with the phone still on, then replace your SIM card & boot up again. 2nd, under MediaNet Settings, Proxy Tab, make sure that 1st box is checked only. The only other thing I can see different, CAPITALIZE the Username. Instead of "[email protected]" do "[email protected]" I don't know if that matters or not. Mine works fine & this is what I have. Good luck
i'm having the same problem with my touch hd ....new to at&t but it worked fine with my tmobile sim card .....only thing i can think of is cuz its a 3g sim card ????

why would you have singtel ?!??! my guess is when you first booted up the phone with your at&t sim card, you rushed through the sim/connection setup process, which is semi automatic. at some step during that process, you need to select the correct carrier from a drop down list. ALL carriers in that list will work.. with phone/celluar connection. but the data connect only works with your own, doesn't matter if you change the settings in a wrong provider afterwards. so my suggestions is. either you can keep on digging through the settings, and may be you will find the correct setting. or you can go to settings->connections-> delete all the connections, and reinsert your sim card and let the auto process take over and select the correct provider.
I had the same issue when I first received my phone as the connection setup wizard incorrectly setup AT&T. I deleted the settings and created a new "My ISP" with all the settings above. Then of course in "network management" make sure that the top box "Programs that automatically connect to the Internet should connect using:" select "My ISP"
i jus got my htc touch hd 2day but i cannt connect to the internet... i have the blackberry bold data plan... does that work or i have to change my data plan....

[Q] getting hd2, a few questions

im an android enthusiast coming from a g1 and a droid. i want the hd2 because of its ability to flash almost any os to it. now here is my main question. im switching to at&t in a week. im getting a dumbphone. i cant pay for data. and i dont care about data anyway. i have been using my droid like an ipod touch for a year now. i would like to buy and unlock an hd2. can i simply pop my sim card from my dumbphone into the hd2? and not pay any data as long as i keep the data sync off when not in wifi?
or will at&t switch data on and charge me?
thanks everyone. i truly love these forums.
All the OS´s on HD2 I know allow you to turn the data connection off, that includes WinMo, WP7 and Android. Guess that won´t be any different with the others.
Assuming you get it unlocked, yes. However, there are a few caveats. First, AT&T doesn't/won't switch on the data on the phone. All of that is controlled through Android's necessity for a data connection. Now, if you boot Android from the SD I believe you can set some parameters for the start up to disable the data connection. I'm not sure whether you can do the same booting from NAND. You can, however, just delete the APN from the network settings and it will have no way to connect.
will at&t attach data to my bill if i start using the hd2 with my dumbphone sim card? even if i keep data off?

No they shouldn't charge you for data unless you ask for a data plan or if you do not keep the HD2 from calling for a data signal.
Member drewden123 had a very good suggestion about deleting the APN. That is a sure fire way to stop any data connection from ever being able to be established.
okay. if i delete the apn i will still be able to use data over wifi right? and could someone provide instructions how how to do this? sorry for my noobieness

Yes if you delete the APN it will not effect your use of WiFi. Thde APN is strickly for your cellular data connection.
To delete the APN you need to be booted into Android and then open your app tray. Then select Settings>Wireless & networks>Mobile networks>Acess Point Names then just open the APN settings for your carrier and delete them one by one. I would write them down or save them somehow though in case you ever decide to get a data plan and need the AP settings back.

Yup. Now, if you are being very careful, I would boot into Android without the SIM and delete all the APNs just in case the data connection doesn't start up automatically. Unless the APNs are somehow created upon the insertion of the SIM, then that would be pointless. (Someone else should verify this because I just started using GSM with my purchase of the HD2, so I don't know that much about it)

[repost]Problem with Data Connection

Hey,
Since I have bought my X Play I am continuously having data connection problem.
The problem is:
As I turn off my WiFi the Mobile data isn't connected on 4G/3G/2G on the first sim slot as well as 2G on second sim slot.
Also, I try turning the Data switch On and Off, doesn't work. At times it does work when I try to switch to Airplane mode and back to network or when disable/enable sim slot.
The problem existed since 5.1.1 and then 6.0 and now on custom firmware which is rooted.
I have tried with more than 10 service providers and in 2 different countries and still exists.
Do you have any experience with such a problem and any possible solutions?
Thanks.
Go in cellular network settings and check your "Access Point Names" and select the correct APNs settings

Axon 7 A2017U No Mobile Data after Oreo Flash

I recently flashed to the new Oreo 8.0 Build from Nougat following this https://community.zteusa.com/discussion/53823/software-update-android-oreo-sd-card-only-axon-7-a2017u-now-on-android-oreo-b20 with a SD card.
Had no issues with the installation but now my Verizon mobile data isn't available. I still receive texts and calls but mobile data is a no go. When I first purchased this phone back in 2016, I had to do the 'Swap SIM Card' method but doing it now still doesn't give me data. Any suggestions or assistance would be appreciative as I have been dealing with this for days now.
Check your APN settings are correct
I have 4 listed with only 3 of them I am able to select. Administrative(VZWADMIN), IMS(IMS) and TracFone(TRACFONE.VZWENTP). The last is Application(VZWAP).

Can you add an apn?
Yes, I can.
If you can add an APN get your service providers APN settings.
Add each line as it shows on the setting list, then save it and you should have data etc.
The other thing to try is ...
Settings > Network and internet > Sim Cards > mobile network.
Let it scan for available networks then select your service provider.
Eg: here in Australia its,
Telstra 3G
Telstra 4G
Optus 3G
Optus 4G
Depending on your sim, don't choose 4G if its a 3G card.
Hope this helps

I ended up copying the APN from another phone that my SIM card could get data on. So far, so good, thanks for the help.

No data from carrier, but calls work. Tried another service provider and it works

I recently bought Mi A1 from someone, now that I inserted the sim, I can get calls, but no data service. Is there a way to fix this problem? Without having to change service provider?
Your APN needs setting correctly, get the APN settings from your sim provider and update the APN in your phone settings.
