How many of you will purchase it based on those features and looking? Discuss if you think its going to be worth it, etc.
Cheers

I won't because Samsung is not helping open source devs by releasing Exynos sources. Exynos is not open source friendly at the moment and the power of Android is the ability to customize your phone and install different types of roms, if i will have to wait Samsung to release an Android OS update after 6 months or live with stock based roms which are all the same apart some build.prop tweaks and deleted apps what's the point of having Android.

I'll personally send a big f**k to any new Sammie products and will wait until the next moto nexus or iPhone 6 whatever phone will be the best for me.

I asked you based on what you see presented mate I didn't include the bad parts of this whole thing
But that is a really good point of view! Although, I prefer to be using a S2 instead of an iPhone, due to Android.

You mean the hardware part? Well that's gonna be outadated anyway after a few months and the market needs a disruption, cores don't mean much anymore, people want something really innovative.

No source available for devs. Plus it's a f*****g shame to wait so long for official update of a FLAGSHIP phone.
You know S2 is dead and 4.2.1 will be the last version provided by CM for our device? This phone is one year and a half old and it's already dead. I will go for a nexus next time, that's for sure. I want a decent product follow up which is not the case on Sammie product and especially with their closed BS exynos chips.

When will the next Nexus generation be out?

The bet is somewhere in 2013...

I'd like to go for it, but as these guys pointed out, I'm annoyed about the closed nature of Exynos. To be honest, my ideal phone would be a nexus device but with expandable memory. Unfortunately that's the deal breaker for me.

I will stick to my galaxy s2 with my extended battery and custom rom running the latest android version possible. I dont feel the need for a new phone... yet...

If Galaxy S3 is released, I'll spend enough money to buy it, maybe the budget between 600 > 700$
sorry for my English

Xperia Z, superb device!

Until Samsung changes it's way of operating (not making their exynos projects open source) I won't be any Samsung phones. I rather go with Nexus devices. Keeping exynos closed source is a real setback for the majority of developers which in return limits the amount of innovation in roms.

S II is gonna get a lime pie update, remember that.
Now, about this s4 thing....is it 8.5 mm thick? it weights less than 116 gr? if not, sticking to S II.
I don't care for non-capacitive-buttons devices. How the hell would I know when to unlock my JB leak screen otherwise?

Actually my s2 is working pretty good for how I use it now, def need a new huge battery for the extra fun I could squeeze out of.
top comments do have a point but seriously with the active xda community, top rated forums r screaming Samsung all over.
Yea they're not so open , yea they're taking their sweet time with updates n such but seriously its a big thanks to all the devs who help n make what u have even better.
Back on track will I buy the next Sammie, depends on how much better it is... The s3 wasn't much of an improvement so I stuck with the s2 Currently running rootboxs version of jb and they're doing a great job , add to that dorimanxs kernel and u have a top of the line phone with the best options to tweak at hand for daily use/battery/performance/ no bloat what so ever.... The list goes on
Sorry for the long post I just had to get it out ^_^

Yeah wait a little time, the galaxy s3 is coming out within these few months, it's worth waiting though

I will go for it !! As soon as I win the lottery :crying:

Sammie behaviour is not a deal breaker for u? Personally I won't allow the same company to f**k me twice in the a*s.
When I buy a flagship phone I want a premium support which is not the case at all.
I do expect a lot from the moto nexus. Or Sony maybe which is friendly with devs. Otherwise I'll return on the apple side waiting for THE Nexus phone,
And I don't speak about the lack of respect to the devs community after having offered them some GS2 promising a good cooperation and making me believe a bright future and a long life for this phone, they just get BS communication and disappointment. This lack of respect to the guys without who will would have this bull**** version of android made in Samsung. They have spent a lot of times to offer for free a great android version and they deserve a big thanks for all of us running their work on our s2. And now most of them are gone, some to the nexus others to Sony side due to Samsung behavior. I can not understand how a CM user may think of buying a Sammie phoen again.

ice cream sandwich for atrix?

hi all,
I went through search and did not find much about this question on my mind for this week.
its been bootloader unlocked and having gingerbread source code available.
I wonder whether atrix will get community build of ics.
i am honestly bored of f***ed up power management of android on dual cores.
i dont know what is problem here but
NVIDIA is not fixing their heating issues.
GOOGLE is not fixing up power management of android on multicore hard ware.
MOTOROLA the great we know ,is slow and lazy ass to move forward in ics for atrix.
i hate the day when i decided about buying atrix.
its bloody radiator and its heating temp. of 54celcius on normal use.
I am using cherryblur 1.4d and faux 123's optimised 1ghz kernel both latest.
i tried undervolting as well but it still heats up crazy.
I am honestly bugged with it.
may be I am totally wrong about my understanding.
i have samsung focus running mango and i prefer it for casual netbrowsing than my atrix.
I hate the NVIDIA for its heating legacy.
I swear on name of god that i wont touch anything with any kind of nvidia inside.
can we expect atrix to get better power management with ice cream sandwich which supposedly optimized for multicore processing.
I also for a brief time had both heating and battery issues with an over clocked kernel I decided to go to a kernel which was not overclocked I'm getting good battery life with no power management apps running and I never overheat anymore. Maybe ur issues can be improved with a new rom and Kernel?

Its not question of availability.have they upgraded all their androids to latest versions? I dont think so.
I know its carrier who slows down update delivery.
When company is already putting out atrix2, do you think we will get ics that easily.?
I will be happiest of lot even if they declare that they are going to upgrade ATRIX to ics.

I will surely give it another chance .
Kindly share the rom.
My main grudge is why do they not optimize their software to get benefited out of dual core processing? ??
As I am not even remotely related to programming or anything with engineering,I understand it may take time to optimize.
but for company like Google how difficult is it to optimize their code for multicore processing???

drpratik: well... IIRC, didn't Google buy, or semi-merge with Motorola? That could help with the speed of things. Not to mention the supposed steps that are taking place in order to try to get devices up to date much more efficiently than the current pace allows.
As for optimization for dual-core phones.... you DO realize that there wasn't a SINGLE dual-core android device, let alone a phone, until the Motorola Xoom made it's debut, right? Which came out with Honeycomb... which is more than likely designed to use dual-core CPU's. There aren't really that many updates to previous Android versions shy of bug fixes when a new version of Android comes out. And seeing as ICS will be the first NEW Android OS for cell phones since Gingerbread, i'm sure we'll probably see it sooner or later... but probably sooner. Either officially, or from a modded ROM.
I do appreciate your response and that both ATRIX and XOOM run on same tegra2 platform.
I agree that optimization takes time.
But tegra 2 is out for at least 18 months.
I have high hopes for ics.what I dont like is android can't see the second core also forget utilizing.if android is not able to see also then why not throttle it down and put it into hibernate and use only when software can take benefit it.
I thought my battery is bad.I started using new battery but same result.
Back to point-- Google has bought Motorola for its patents portfolio to fight off apple attack and I will be really happy if this relationship proves fruitful for end users.
Lets hope for best.

Samsung Galaxy S III’s MWC debut reportedly canceled

http://www.theverge.com/2012/1/25/2733022/samsung-galaxy-s-iii-mwc-rumor
We're hearing from people familiar with the matter that Samsung — which had originally planned to announce its 2012 flagship Galaxy S III phone at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona late next month — has now decided to delay the news. It's unclear when or where the new announcement will be, but we're told that it'll still be out there "before summer." Though MWC seems like a logical choice for the GSIII's unveiling (the GSII was announced there last year), the speculation is that Samsung was uncomfortable with another long lag between the global launch and US availability. The US is a key market for Samsung's mobile business, of course — particularly when the company is successful in getting most or all national carriers to pick it up.
While we don't know what exactly Samsung will be announcing at MWC in the GSIII's place, we understand they'll have "interesting stuff" — perhaps a Galaxy Tab refresh, especially since the 10.1 is getting long in the tooth and we're due for a round of quad-core updates in 2012. A new Windows Phone portfolio is another possibility; there have been rumors that Microsoft will make an announcement at the show, and Samsung is about as strong a Windows Phone partner as Microsoft has outside of Nokia. We'll be following this story closely as it develops.
I posted this here only because a lot of people are/were expecting the SIII to be the runner up to the Note II but if Mods don'e believe it relevant, please remove.

I'm pretty disgruntled with AT&T's tardy release of devices, too. I hope Samsung's going to do something about it. This 4 month delay crap has gotta go.
Important s US is as a consumer market, it is no longer the most important nor the one that generate the highest sales figures.
lol Samsung Gimmicks ...
If they launched SGS III at MWC no one would buy the Galaxy Note as everyone will tend more towards the Quad Core ( I know tech sucks sometimes ) phones. Whether or not Samsung you are doing right, atleast I can have some more quality time with my note

Yes, China is becoming more important then the US I guess. There are models coming out in China that you do not even know about in the US.
Like the Samsung SCH-W999.
But I do not understand why a later announcement would decrease the delay in US availability. I do not see the logical link.

Do not forget the stuff that is already announced.
For example the Galaxy SII LTE HD that is 1280x720 and just a bit smaller then the Note.
It makes sense that the SIII does not get announced before the Note LTE , the SII LTE and the SII LTE HD get globally distributed.
But after that, bang... S III, 5 times faster then everything before.
You are making me depressed. Just stop it I want to have the most powerful phone on the market a little longer. Samsung is such a party pooper! I think i'll have to sabotage.. some stuff..

Exactly... Quadcore even with ICS wouldn't be reason enough for me to switch. Might make me think a bit before buying, but I'm pretty sure I'd still go with the Note...
i just want a note 2 for my next phone, something with a bit more ram so that apps arent shut down and tw doesnt get shut down as often as it does on my note which makes me wait till the homescreens get populated.
guess same reason for OTG being flaky with official and other OTG adapters. but a restart of the phone sorts it out and OTG works fine again.
hope the bugginess decreases with icrecream sandwich as sometimes the bugginess and lag on occassions makes me want to take a refund after returning the phone.
USB host capability is flaky compared to my 5y old archos 605 media player which ALWAYS recognises flash drives and able to copy or paste files easily. the note OTG facility for connecting flash drives and copy pasting files is a distinct and lousy second place compared to my 5y old archos 605 which is faultless for the flash drives connecting functions and connecting cameras etc. plus hub can record tv etc or anything that passes through the hub, even has an EPG so can do timed recordings. wish all those features come for the note 2 or even for this note with a media hub device. but hub should fit phone with all standard accessories like flip case probably will need a connection features like present on phillins fidelio range for android which connects to many android devices and samsung official accessories like hubs dont even fit the note when official flip case is put on. bloody jokers must be hired in their design dept.
There is a market for phones like the note and consumers like me who think bigger is better as the case for every note buyer, the SIII is different from note and when the note II comes out its gonna blow the SIII out of the water

HTC announces ICS for desire HD, desire S and incredible S.

This only leaves samsung and motorola as not paying attention to their weaker phones.
HTC, LG and sony ericsson all giving most of their phones ICS.
And yet samsung wont give it to galaxy S? Well you say it's older than desire HD? Well the galaxy S plus and galaxy W are not and are actually more powerful than these HTC phones.
It's always arrogance that leads to the doom of the leader. Samsung really has to get their act straight if they want to remain android leader, there is simply no justification now for not giving ICS to their single core devices.
So, who cares?
Look around, there is plenty of ICS ROMs to install for SGS. And most of them are stable enough for daily use.
When you tasted some ROM, that is not Samsung-based, you're never going back. At least I'm not.
So, I really don't give a slightest f**k if ICS won't be official for SGS.
This is probably still the largest dev community for any of the android based phones, and although the phone is almost two years old, there is still a lot of development going on. I'm happy with my SGS, I'm quite happy with Samsung as the company itself too.

Sure galaxy S is 2 years old but S plus isnt and doesnt even have that good ROMs so what about the S+ users?

See for you guys its okay, for people like me with the galaxy s 4g, we are screwed. We don't have enough developers to port ics. I still hope that we will get cm7 or miui but ics, lets not gonna kid ourselves on getting that for his phone.

The choice when I bought the phone was HTC Desire or SGS. Boy am I glad I went for the SGS! Stop getting your knickers in a twist, there are plenty of ICS options. I've been running CM9 since the beginning of January with virtually no problems.

This isn't even a small argument talking about GS. But indeed the Plus version should receive ICS. Can't say that LG is better then Samsung at updating their phones, I mean sure the 2x gets it, but it's only one year old. The DHD is the only older phone getting ICS here. Nice move from HTC. I just can't say Samsung is worse than HTC at updating their phones.

Samsung is now officially worse than HTC at updating unless they update the galaxy S plus and galaxy W.
Even the $200 xperia mini is getting ICS which is from every aspect inferior to the samsung phones not getting ICS.
LG is also bringing ICS to optimus black which is the weakest phone officially supported for ICS. Ofcourse LG's ROMs actually suck but thats another story.
You guys are really too greedy. I have a SGS+ and I would love to have some custom development (CM, ICS).
We have just now a CM 7 port in work and it will take a long time to finish it, before even thinking of CM9, ICS (no graphic driver, how the hell should the ports work flawlessly)?
Our phone isn't even 1 year old, so it's just twice frustrating for us: no custom development, no official updates.

Its a good Android tablet. For a time at least, lol.
I do agree that given the weight and size its a marvel of technology considering the performance and quality of construction.
Sony appear to be moving in the right direction, lets hope this trend continues.
Even if it is the winner, i don't see any real developer here, the development section is dead, i mean like dead in dead. Nothing new is happening there. I don't know why.... God dammit developers build some kernels, roms

Have to agree about it being dead around here. There was some activity at first when there a was a prize on offer...but since then, dead
I must admit I knew that if I wanted loads of development I should have bought the Nexus 10. Buying the SXTZ came with the risk of little or no development...and that risk has turned into reality.
On the other hand, the stock ROM is pretty good and at the moment going to a custom ROM means you'll lose more useful features than you gain.
All I really want on top of stock is Nova launcher and PIE/LTA so I can lose all the navigation/notification/status bars. That's why I've gone to PAC.
But I've lost my warranty, GPS, DRM keys, HDMI out, being able to charge with tablet off, and a few other things.
I sometimes wish I'd bought the Nexus 10...but I'm telling myself I've got to kick the ROM-flashing habit.
Oh well, at least I've got my Nexus 4 to keep me occupied

Well, i know Sony products are not so popular among the developers, but than again this one in my opinion is among the best tablets, so it should have been better. Oh well maybe it is due to something like price, or something else.

Don't look now, but TechRadar seems to share the same views as us. They also gave the SXTZ top honors as 2013's tablet: http://www.techradar.com/news/mobile-computing/tablets/10-best-tablet-pcs-in-the-world-today-1079603

I just don't comprehend why Sony products are favored by developers.... Sony offers so very much better support than other OEMs, like Samsung and HTC, and send updates ,such faster than other OEMs as well. It seems like Sony would/should be a developer favorite, the only thing I can think of is that no major Sony flagship smartphones are carried by the major US carriers, AT&T and T-Mobile have carried 1 or 2 but Verizon hasn't had one since the Play, but there should still be more development.
The price tag is another thing hindering development but not much, the other tablets I was looking at before I purchased the XTZ offered much less for the same amount or more, really the price is not too bad when you think about it. The LTE model is overpriced, $900 in the US when I bout my WiFi model, but I would guess the reason for that would be to deter people from buying it off contract. If money is the issue there have still been major amounts of development on phones and tablets with the same, or higher, price tag, I paid less for my XTZ than my Note 2 or any other phone I've bought in the past few years, so there has to be something I am missing.

HTC One M8 Upgraded: HTC Prime

Not sure if you guys are aware of the rumors or not, but the HTC One M8 will have a better edition available soon titled the HTC Prime. It's rumored that it will have a faster processor speed, better camera, etc. Here is the link with the details : http://www.digitaltrends.com/mobile/htc-m8-prime-news/
How do you guys feel about this? Personally, I feel a little cheated. I've heard companies release smart phones to work out the kinks and issues in the 1st edition then recently releases another better one shortly after, butI didn't think HTC would fall in line with that. If this isn't a rumor, Id feel as if I'm missing out. Just sayin'.

This was rumoured even before the first one was released so it's not that much of a surprise...
As long as they wait 6 months...

Its ridiculous after a few weeks now an inproved version in fact i was pissed off and i call htc who knew nothing very cowardly.
I think it,s an anti-poor policies from htc if all this is true
would definitely feel cheated.
I got my M7 near launch and the only thing that came along that made me want to upgrade was the M8.
The M8 means 8th flagship, how can it be a flagship if there is a better model from HTC out and about.
I hear excuses that this was a premium version, but my M8 is already the most premium device out there.
ho hum, we shall see!

Nearly every other company does this. I'm pretty sure Samsung is doing the same thing...
As EddyOS mentioned, there was already multiple rumors going around before the M8 was released.
Well HTC didn't with the M7 and Apple don't.
Samsung have an obligation to flood the market with every device conceivable, HTC are better than that.

I think HTC is carried away by the other manufactures, but it is definitely not customer friendly
keyword: 5.5"
go checkout the Desire 816, which is also boomsound + 5.5" compare it to your M8 size
and let me know if you still decide to cry
equally s805 power is wasted on the 2k resolution you will be surprised, this is why most OEMs decided to stick to 1080p this round

check the onscreen results...even the Tegra K1 struggles with 2k onscreen
The Prime = new Max
extremely piss off htc it's now Samsung ??
It's a One Maxx 2 and far too big. Just as useless as the One Max 1. Anyone upset at this needs to get a grip. 5MP UP ? No point either.
Sooo... companies should stop improving and releasing new products so customers don't get butthurt? I'm confused. Every company is going to be constantly building and improving on their products. If they never released one because another better one was in the pipeline, then they'd literally never release a single thing. Technology moves fast, get over it.

Exactly. It's not an upgraded M8. It's a new max.
Do not want. Way too big.
IMO this is really unnecessary!
Samsung and HTC could use these new ''features'' in a new mobile, M9 and S6 for example. I bought the M8 mid april, and maybe, soon i will have a ''old device''?
This is really sad...
But, anyway, these new devices look very good inside.

I didn't say they were. But being that the "Prime" has half inch bigger screen than standard M8, it's closer to being a "new" Max, rather than a "better" One.
It's too big for me. I'm not butthurt that they are coming out with it after purchasing my M8. Its a totally different class of device.
I stand by my "do not want."

OK I understand In that case, you're right
I'm okay with this... Bigger screen means more power consumption.. The only thing that upsets me is the better camera rumor.. Even then I'm fine.
