Hey guys,
I've had my Touch HD for about 5 months now, and I noticed last week that it seems to jump into a constant-reboot-loop every 2 or 3 days now.
The only way to solve it is to remove the battery for 5-10 minutes, put it back in and turn it on.
While the device is in this strange mode, it generally reboots *just* before the "Loading Windows" screen.
I believe I was running Miri's v16 or v17 when it first happened, and I'm currently using EnergyRom HD, which appears to have the same problem.
When it first started happening I flashed from Miri's rom to EnergyRom, and also did a hard reset, allowing Windows to reinitialise itself.
Has anyone else had anything like this happen to them? I'm starting to get concerned that my incredibly expensive device is slowly becoming nothing more than a brick...
In this thread, Megawhopp had a slightly similar problem which was resolved by doing the following:
1. Turn off the phone
2. Put it in the bootloader
3. Re-flashed the custom rom
4. Immediately unplug USB cable and yank battery after 100% flash
5. Immediate hard reset via phone buttons
Try this and let us know how you get along!!
Thanks for the suggestion - I haven't tried it just yet, but honestly, I'm slightly skeptical
Also, I do all of my flashing via the SD card (BLACIMG.nbh), as I find it much more reliable than the USB connection method.

No probs, your call. Let me know anyhow if you get it sorted or not
Well, as I run Linux I've no choice but to do it the SD card way anyway, but I'll try the same test using the SD card method and see how it goes.
Thanks for the help, I'll let you know
Right well I carried out the steps using the SD card flashing method when the rebooting issue kicked in yesterday evening.
It took 3 attempts, but it seems to have sorted itself out again.
I've no idea if it's the steps that solved the problem, or just the luck of the draw though...
I had same problem, and I'm using default ROM without any 3rd party programs...
Just take battery out for 5minutes
then put it back, pressing the red reset button and then while pressing the red reset button press the power button release both and the phone will start and will work perfectly...

Yup, that's exactly what I do. What I want to know is WHY it happens though
Looks like I still have this problem. I can't recreate it at will, and it doesn't seem to be caused by any particular action I'm doing at the time.
This is so bloody frustrating.
SAME PB
I have try out all:reflash rom/spl flash whith spl olinex /flash with uspl/

Firstly, it's a "problem", not a "pb". You have a full keyboard in front of you, so why not use it?
Secondly, it's slightly worrying me now that this is happening for you on a *stock* ROM. I really hope this isn't a hardware issue, or I'll be in for a whole world of hurt

It looks like i fixed my problem by reformatting my sd card.

I had the same problem, I found when I had 3G shut off and I had no or low signal it would go into a constant reboot. I turned 3G back on and never had the problem again.
Give that a try, no need to hard reset.
I have recently started having a problem with my HD2. When I long press the end button to bring up the phone options menu in order to power the phone off, the touch screen becomes unresponsive and the phone locks up. At first I thought it was a problem with one of the Android builds I was running so I reformatted my SD card as well as tried a different Android build. That didn't work so I re flashed the Windows ROM I was using and still no luck. Now I have flashed to a different Windows Rom and refrained from using Android and it still doesn't work. The phone options menu pops up, but it wont register that I have pushed anything. I would say 1 out of 20 times it will register a response and will shut down. This is the only time I have a problem with the screen. I am able to do everything else with the phone, but use the phone options. Does anyone know what could be causing this problem? Thanks in advance for any help you guys can give me. I have searched all over this site and the net and have not found anyone with a similar problem. Oh yeah I have also done both soft and hard resets to no avail.
Did you try removing your MicroSD Card to see if that changes anything? I had that happen to me a few months ago and it worked after I removed the card. Not sure why that has any effect on it at all, but I'm a trial and error type of guy. Ended up formatting my sd card and after that I never had the problem again. It might not work for you, but it's worth a try.
Thanks for the response, but I have tried that and no luck. The card has been reformatted and the phone does weather I am in windows or android.

i have the ssame problem just started today
Hardware issue related to touch screen ribbon cable located behind end button.
on WM OS you could create a link to launch endkey.exe (found in windows folder) & use that instead of physically pressing endkey. This would overcome your issue to some extent & help diagnose fault as hardware or software ...
Got the same issue, I found this thread helpful:

Hi,
Since a few days my screen is freezing very often, almost 10 times a day. It is only the screen that is frozen, not the hardware buttons. To unfreeze it, I have to push the power button a few times very fast .....till the next time it will freeze again.
I don't understand what happened because I haven't add or removed a program since a few weeks. I have done a hard reset and I have updated my rom but after having installed all my programs, this behaviour came back.
I am afraid that it could be a hardware problem.
Any idea what to do ?
Thanks
Daniel
HD2 Screen Problems
I have the EXACT SAME problem....
I solved mine by slamming the screen face down into a table; although I wouldn't suggest this as I have damaged part of my lcd screen. But the Touch Screen works 24/7 now.
It seems to be a common problem with HD2

SEND it in to HTC if you have warranty.. if you don't. Then S.O.L.

But my problem is not totally similar because it also happens when my phone is already on.
I have to admit that the problem began a few days after having installed - but in the meantime already removed- Android.

Try pressing the "off" button to put the phone to "sleep",
then push the "off" button again to "wake" the phone,
can you use the touch now? try multiple times to conclude.
Next try waking the phone by either one of the other buttons,
can you use touch now? try multiple times to conclude.
On my HD 2 it is the off button that doesnt wake the phone properly so the lcd wakes but not the touch screen..
I dont yet now if this is a soft or hardware issue related to the "Off" button.. but many folks have the issue now a days

Yes, it was what I am doing. I don't think it has something to do with the "off button" because it happens also when my phone is already on , and sometimes
my screen begins to start other applications that I have pressed.

No , after having changed my SD card, I still have the same problem
Hi everybody.
I solved my freezing just installing memMaid with default settings and scheduling a run in the night time. Moreover I scheduled a soft reset after that, not with memMaid because I didn't find such an option but with a little exe I found somewhere here called schedulereset.exe.
I hope this can help someone.
Post soem specifications
Eeey there,
I understand you have issue's with a freezing screen on your HD2. Pherhaps something may is wrong with the Drivers or the ROM. Or may there is a application running in the background that isn't stable and causes the screen to freeze.
Could you may post some specifications about the ROM you are running on your phone, wich radio you use etc.
Regards,
c0r1tr0n

Maybe,
I have already used different ROMS ( I am using now MIRI's Rom) but it was working fine till a few weeks ago. I have done a Hard reset, tried with 2 new cooked ROMS and installed the
SAME programs I was using - they were working fine till a few weeks ago- and
again the same freezing problem.
It should be a hardware problem.

I think it is some kind of hardware problem, as I have the same screen freezing problem. For the last two days, my HD2 wouldn't respond to my touch at all. I reflashed my custom ROM, which was no help. Then flash to the newly updated ROM from Tmobile, but my HD2 still wouldn't respond. So I think the problem with unresponsive screen and freeze are somehow hardware related.
right, it seems to be a hardware issue
but i think try to use stock rom with the stock radio wont let you down hopefully
I have the same, but it seems to be the extended battery that caus it, so it maybe is a voltage prob.
Hey guys, sorry for putting of "one-of-these" posts, but I've searched as many forms as I could to no avail regarding this particular problem: my lock-screen and my power/reboot screens are completely unresponsive when brought up. Well actually, the lock-screen will unlock with maybe 10-14 tries (by pressing the power button to turn the screen off and pressing it again to turn the screen on) but even thats kind of wonky.
I've flashed every Android Rom I could get my grimey hands on to see if that would fix the problem, and it doesn't, I've even tried dropping back to WinMo 6.5, nope. Now if I flash WP7, than the lock-screen is responsive, but I'm an Androidian and can't use WP7 for more than maybe 20 seconds.
I'm unsure as to whats causing the problem, at first I thought it may just be a hardware malfunction (as I use my HD2 to watch movies and TV shows quite a bit) but after flashing WP7 and finding that to work well I'm at a loss.
I'm running on Magldr 1.12
SPL-2.08 HSPL 8G
If there is anyone who could help, please do, as I love my HD2 flashed with Android....I'd really hate to have to flash WP7 to use my phone.
Thanks in advance!
I read this somewhere so it might work for you. Turn off auto brightness and screen rotation, it supposedly reduces the wakeup lag.
Huzzah! Thanks a bunch, that little trick helped out!
Nvrmnd, it worked maybe for about 4-5 unlocks and now reverted back to the old problem. Power-off/reboot still doesn't work.
I'm having the same problem.
Like you, I've been flashing many other roms (stocks, 6.5, and androids) and still same problem.
Have you fixed yours yet?
same problem
Same here... Any one able to find out the solution?
This exact problem happened to my phone today

This seems more like a bad digitizer....try to press the power button down (kind a hard) and at the same time try to unlock your phone or touch the screen to see if it reacts to your touches and if it does, you have a bad digitizer because the minute you release the power button you are going to have the same issues again...the digitizer connector goes under the power button and it sometimes breaks causing that issue, you need to replace your digitizer, no way around it, sorry.
Hi!
I just freshly got a HD2, and decided to turn it into a WP7 device. The phone works perfectly (and I do mean perfectly, the touchscreen's just as responsive and precise as it should) on stock 6.5, but as soon as I flash WP7 (mango/tango) onto it, the touchscreen ceases to work. I tried several builds, the physical keys are working, but the touch isnt. What can be the cause?

Go back to stock ROM, If your touch is working there, if yes let me know, I'll give advice thn.
Best of luck
Already did, several times actually, how else would I know the touchscreen didnt just get messed up somewhere in process? Im pretty much running like a headless chicken, I cant get android to work neither (clockwork recovery stops at 1 2 3 4 5 6 GO!, no matter what I do).
I task29ed, tried different partitions, every generic piece of advice. WP7 boots, has sound, reacts to volume keys, prompts to slide to shut down when I press the hang up button long enough, but there is no response from the screen whatsoever.

I had this issue for a very long time and it made me bonkers. I even contacted T-Mobile and they sent me refurbished HD2 to deal with it. I thought it might be a defective digitizer, then I thought that it had to be some issue with the backplate not being on correctly, then I realized that it was the series of roms I was currently using. I would suggest that you do a hard reset "End button+Up Volume+Down Volume", then start from scratch.
Flash Magldr 1.13, radio 2.15.50.14, and installing the Pdaimatejam 7.6 mango rom. Here are some resources:
Radio Thread
Pdaimatejam Mango Rom
Let me know if this helps.
Thanks, but it didnt work neither :/
