Motorola Atrix 4g not booting up - Atrix 4G General

Hello, I have a Motorola Atrix 4g. I flashed a rom into it using CWM and now it won't boot up.
It just says on the unlocked screen
Can anyone help me with this?

Try going back into recovery, and wipe SYSTEM, then reflash both your ROM and Gapps if necessary.

It's hard to brick a phone just by trying ROMs, but follow directions and always make a backup before experimenting.
Follow these steps and it should be fine:
1) re-download a ROM, and save it to microSD (can skip if not possible, but is recommended)
2) boot into recovery (hold volume down key while booting and select android recovery)
3) wipe data/factory reset
4) select advanced and wipe dalvik
5) mounts and storage and select "format /system"
6) go back and select choose from external sd
7) install from external sd and reboot
8) reboot
9) reboot back into recovery and install gapps.

SBFs often overwrite the baseband radio, which is dangerous. Very dangerous.
As for flashing a ROM, that's just writing to the partitions on a disk - typically very safe, although you can get messed up.
So what exactly are you seeing when booting?
If it hangs at the motorola logo, then you need to properly wipe and flash again. If you can get back to your CWM recovery, go under mounts, and then format /system option. Then flash your ROM, and gApps.
If you're seeing the Android boot logo, then you might need to wipe the dalvik cache, normal cache, and then do a system/factory reset... should get you situated.
Either way, wiping all that stuff wouldn't hurt.

If you read my earlier post, I already had then do the same exact thing, step by step and they said it didn't work.

2-3 month before I was in same situation, but CWM also doesn't work, I resolve this whit fastboot, you can try get into fastboot and flash system and boot image (download from internet), also wipe cache. Hope that it will help you.

You might want to check the MD5 sum of your image you're flashing... Could be corrupt.

Help me fix my phone

I'm a total newbie when it comes to flashing ROMs and whatnot.
I got clockwork installed correctly and downloaded the superclean ROM to my SD card.
I rebooted into recovery and tried a data wipe/factory reset. It ran and ran and ran for over an hour and I couldn't find any info on the web about how long it should take so I pulled the battery thinking it was hung.
I now boot up and it goes into Android System Recovery. At the bottom it says "Manual Mode"
The SD card is still installed.
It gives me the following options but I can't select any of them.
Reboot system now
apply sdcard:update.zip
wipe data/factory reset
wipe data cache partition
What can I do?

Awesome... that booted me back into my previous rom.... wish I would have known that earlier.
How long should I wait for Clockwork to wipe my data?

Did you flash clockwork within rom manager? There should be an option for the fascinate. Do it twice just for grins. The reboot into cwm and try it again.

Yep I did that first.... I just attempted it a couple of times this morning and it seemed to work today.
It didn't get hung up saying "Wiping Data...." It went to another line and said Formatting Data and sat there for about 30 seconds and completed the wipe. I"m not sure what was different than what I did last night but it worked.

Steps When Flashing Question

So I was reading the Royal Ginger Rom thread, and his instructions on the 3rd page I believe say to:
"Make sure when you wipe you wipe both on the main page of recovery. Then go to advance and wipe dalvik then go to mount and format boot, system and format sdcard. Then flash."
Have I been missing something here with all the ROM's I've been flashing? With all the ROM's I've flashed, I've only done "full data wipe", "wipe cache", and "wipe dalvik"
I've never done a format boot, system and fotmat sdcard.
And doesn't formatting a sd card wipe everything off it? Or am I thinking of something else

When you do full wipe /system is untouched so you should go format the /system, /boot, do full wipe. You can manually remount it but this is done auto when reflashing and reconstructing the image. Far as the format sdcard goes I take it that it access /sd-ext part which you should leave it alone if you don't understand.

So I should always do a FULL wipe then with whatever rom I flash? Could explain some "oddities" I've been getting at times lol
And just leave the format sdcard alone?

1) Keep your battery 100% (trust me saves you alot of time recalibrating)
2) Format /system, /boot from Recovery
3) Wipe dalvik, full wipe
4) Flash whatever via SDCard

Ah ok, I was totally unaware of step 2. I've just done "wipe data/factory reset" and the two cache's.
Interesting what I'll get from here on out now. What do you mean by "recalibrating" when you said to keep the battery at 100%?

Thats why we are here. Normally most leave it alone and only time we recommend it is when user is doing major upgrade for example switching roms or having some issue that none else can replicate. You are now good to go

thats sorta interesting
ive not once seen it mentioned in any of the rom threads or just around xda to wipe both boot and system until seeing it in the royalginger thread
not saying its wrong...but it should be maybe conveyed that only wiping date/factory reset, cache and dalvik isnt always sufficient

Well normally people just do full wipe (/data, /cache, /sd-ext, /sdcard/.android_secure) and wipe dalvik but if you want to properly do it then you can format /system manually or do it via adb fastboot erase system -w. This is more clean way to do it as you get rid of the /system which is not normally covered with wipe.
A point of clarification. As I understand it, the Dalvik cache (used by Mobile Java apps) is a structure within the /data partition. A "full wipe / factory reset" formats /data, so a wipe of the Dalvik cache in addition wouldn't actually do anything.
Wiping the Dalvik cache along with /cache is usually recommended for ROM "upgrade" flashes, when /data is left intact.

[How to]99.9% No bootloops when flashing ROM

1) Boot into CWM red recovery
2) Wipe Data
3) Wipe Cache
4) Wipe dalvik cache
5) Go to mounts and storage
6) format everything that doesn't start with SD, so format boot, system, data, dbdata.
7) Install your new ROM
8) Reboot
Basically 100% chance of NO bootloops or running into errors. Don't know why I put 99.9%.Good Night~

And step 6 is not necessary, I have flashed over 20 Roms and havent had to format my sd.

Thanks xHoLyx, you beat me to posting the same thing. And step #6 is classic gunnermike speak. I'd recognize that anywhere. Adrynalyne just released EC01 ROM and radio, and both he and GizmoDroid have posted slightly different methods for installing the new ROM and radio. Would you like to also post those exact steps in a how to thread and make it seem like you came up with the steps?

Why cant I boot into Recovery?

I can reboot into Bootloader, but when I try to boot into Recovery it kicks me back into bootloader. Im using Rom Manager and Clockworks. Any suggestions? Thanks for the help.
Use amon-ra its 10 times better than clockwordmod just download this http://files.androidspin.com/downloads.php?dir=amon_ra/RECOVERY/&file=PC36IMG.zip
drag it to sd card and go to into bootloader thern fastboot and it should say update
Step one, get rid of Rom Manager.
Step Two, flash Amon Ra.
Fixed....
That did it. Thanks guys. Follow up question..do I do a full wipe or Delvick- Cache wipe when flashing Roms? Im used to letting ROM Manager do everything for me that im not 100% sure.
Do a full wipe User Data/Factory reset, then wipe each sub-category, EXCEPT SD Card.
Heck, I re-wipe Cache and Dalvik Cache twice.

No sweat any time bro

[Q]cwm can't wipe cache on LG D802

my phone is d802
so i download the recovery from this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2468858
use this package "CWM-Official-NON-TOUCH-6.0.4.4(D802).rar"
i can boot into the recover mod
but when i use "format /cache" to format the cache
the screen will stop at "fotmating /cache"
i hold the power button to reboot the device
open R.E into the cache folder,it can't be formated
is anyone have the same problem?
It can be formatted. It'll just take too much time. Maybe give the device 10 mns.

thx to answer my question

but i hope it can moer faster
Hi,
In the thread where you take the recovery there is a fix...
The unofficial version fixed the "issue"...
WIPE CACHE FIX - UNOFFICAL (RECOMMENDED)
If you flash the unofficial CWM version, the cache wipe will take only 1-2 seconds!!!
WIPE CACHE FIX - OFFICAL
The data wipe is incredibly fast, but the cache wipe is incredibly slow. This fix won't match the speeds of TWRP's fix, but it will greatly speed up the process. This should only be done when switching to another ROM.
1) Boot into CWM.
2) Click on "mounts and storage".
3) Click on "format /system".
4) Click "Yes - Format".
