Proximity sensor in Touch HD

I recently read on gsmarena that the touch hd has a proximity sensor for auto turn off.
is this true?
if yes, could we use this sensor to automatically answer a call for example
maybe we can add to the sensory sdk of koushi a class for the proximity sensor.
just a thought

I'm guessing that the "proximity" sensor that has been discussed is actually the light sensor beside the earpiece. This can be used to turn the backlight off when applied to your ear during a call. using this as a means to asnwer a call would not be reliable, and what would happen if the phone is in your pocket etc etc.

i think is just like the iphone when u place it next to ear the it goes off to save battery ?
It doesn't work like the iPhone.
The HD, like all the devices using a Qualcomm chip, is just switching off the screen when a call starts, the phone next to the ear or not. It just doesn't use the light sensor at all during a call.
I asked for a soft that permit the use of the light and G sensor during a call to switch off/on the screen. You'll find more info here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=451456

Proximty and resume
The proximty sensor will turn off the screen when places the phone next to your ear. I guess this help to prevent accidental touch on buttons. However, I have a problem with my new Touch Pro2:
When the phone is placed away from your ear, the screen will go back to home instead of previous phone dial pad. When I listen to my voice mail or join a conference, a lot of navigation is needed in order to dial the command buttons.(press a 7 for next, or # for ....)
Any chance to make the screen resume at previous location? My first improvement suggestion to HTC.
Concerning this sensor, funny I thought it was some myth as mine never seemed to work or only half assed. Then after flashing many diff roms and settling on the "energy" Rom I see that much to my pleasent surprise it works perfect, just as intended. This is a fantastic feature and my first device it has actually functioned properly on.

hi
yeh there is a setting somewhere that lets you go straight to home when you turn the device on instead of loading the screen it was already on.
its set to default but you can change it.
i forgot what the app was called though, i think it was possibly an option in hd tweak or something
THERE IS NO proximity sensor in touch hd
However I've been told that "Touch Incall Screen Tweak" does beautifully on the HD and probably it's what you´re asking.

From what I've been reading spec wise I believe your correct, but I cannot explain then why when I make a call with the HD up to my ear the screen goes dark then when I pull it away to input a number from the kp it lights up. Is it the light sensor then? I'll check in the NRG energy ROM forum and search for some info as I'm running his ROM. I love this feature btw and have not noticed it in any other ROM I've tried.

[Q] Disable light sensor

Hello, I want to know how to disable a light sensor? When I changed the broken touchscreen for my phone (htc hd mini) I broke the light sensor and it doesn`t work now. On the call my screen goes black and can`t end call or other things. I have tried many programs (advanced configs or sth like this, htc tweaks for diamond and HD, but it doesn`t solve my problem). Maybe is it possible to uninstall the drivers for the light sensor? Please help me! :\
Black screen during call (near your ear) has to do with proximity sensor, not light sensor.

and if that is the case, then it is normal because this is one of the intuitive feature of htc hd mini. Check the youtube channel of htc.

hi! i find solution from another forum
In the registry... HKLM/Security/Phone/Skin Change the value of "Enabled" from 1 to 0. That brings back the default WinMo dialer. You also lose the proximity sensor capabilities as well. (as that is associated with the HTC software side of things) So unless you have a S2U2 type program that disables the screen during a call, it will remain active.
buy new one freind
My Vodafone HTC mini does not have this problem. It is perhaps a problem of the free devices?

[Q] Disable Proximity Sensor

Hi,
is there an option for android-HD2s to disable the proximity sensor? I'm sick of the behavior of my device that the screen doesn't turn on again after making a phone call, taking out battery isn't a very useful option...
I already tried the Recalibrator for the sensor (originally for DesireHD), it worked for a few days but now again i've got the problem...
Therefore i'd rather have the screen turned on during the phone call, than having a blocked phone after the call..,
Do you know a solution?

hi, I guess you are using Desire HD rom. If is so I fully understand you. Those build s avery big and laggy. After trying many, many rom s Iwent to this one>http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=931126
The screen turns on , everything work s fine. And it is crazy fast. Believe me, you will love android after this.
the best DHD Rom is Core Droid, in 1.3 the sensor was good, but in the actual 1.4 its bad again, try it when the next version is out. its very fast and nice skinned, also always good updates like the controls widget in the notifications bar.
Are we talking about the rom for hd2??is there anyone who can help us on the same problem?
I do this that way http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=16008095&postcount=4

[Q] Disable Proximity in call?

My proximity sensor is dead. Stuck in WinMo 6.5 and Android. Is there a way I can disable it and have the in call settings use the gyro instead? Or maybe not blank the screen at all?
Thanks!

I found a way to wake the screen back up without yanking the battery. I can give it USB power and it will wake. Still sucks but is better than reboot.
Anyone know how to kill prox?
TY
Same here, very anoying.
When headphone is plugged in i dont have any problems.
I had the same problem, so I got libsensors source from HyperDroid, commented out lines that do proximity sensor initialization and got sensors.leo.so that shows to phone that there are no proximity sensor.
There are 3 identical files in the attachment - simply copy them over into /system/lib/hw on the device.
But, actually, repairing sensor would be better solution...

[Q] Need help to disable proximity sensor/driver.

Hi guys, I have strange but I think common problem. My problem is, when I use earphones/headphones and I try to call (proximity sensor is on) I can hear buzz sound, Its VERY annoying. I tried viber/tango and had same problem with them. So next I tried skype, because skype is not turning on proximity all was fine.
So my question is, how can i disable driver/proximity sensor. I tried this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1683884 But this app cant find proximity sensor, all what I saw was led/touch/camera and magnetic field sensors, nothing about proximity... Next I tried http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1626611 and still nothing, but I think its only for gsm...
Can anybody help me with that? Now what I have is Aokp M1 and trinity kernel, thanks in advance.
