Hi there, i've the problem. I've just tesing new Android ROM on my htc, intallation was succesful but phone won't boot (Freeze on Android Splash Logo). Then i've got any reaction when "RED" button is tap, but MAGLDR loading correctly when i plug in the USB cable plugget to PC or AC/DC adapter on the other side. First thing i suggested - maybe battery is low - so i replace MAG with cLK and charge the battery on turn off phone. LED color change from red to green and still same problem :/ Can anybody help ?

I've been having this problem since the first installation of MAGLDR; The "Orange LED" bug, as most of us know, prevents the phone from charging while the phone is off, and the LED remains orange even AFTER the phone is unplugged. I've found a few circumstances where this will occur:
1. Powering down the phone with USB plugged in causes this issue with most builds
2. Same as #1 but when doing a reboot
3. Phone dies, then plugging USB will bring about the "orange LED" bug
I've found a workaround for these as I'm sure MANY of you have already, but I wanted to post a thread just for people who haven't found an answer yet. The following list corresponds to the items above:
1. Unplug USB before selecting "Power off" on your device
2. " " " " "
3. Kinda tricky.. a) if phone is COMPLETELY dead, pull the battery, plug USB, THEN replace battery, and b) If phone has battery and is OFF, power on phone, wait until "GO! GO! GO!" screen disappears, and then plug in USB.
I think the problem comes about when finishing the installation of your ROM via MAGLDR, OR it could be a bug within MAGLDR itself. It could quite possibly be the kernels, as JDMS' UltimateDroid ROM did NOT cause the orange LED when a REBOOT was performed...
Well either way, I hope this helps some people avoid this problem and gives the dev's something to work on.. Not that their work goes unappreciated
Or do like me. Leave the phone on, put it in flightmode and charge it.

How would this help if phone is completely dead? Seriously, this could be useful. Can someone try this and confirm?

I'm afraid to answer here as the OP might get upset, or tell me to start my own new thread.
Anyway. As I like to help people I will answer your question.
I bought a new battery for my HD2, and it did not have enought power to power on the phone (running NAND).
Not sure if this fixed the charging problem, but I removed the battery for +/- 30 seconds, reinserted the "dead" battery, plugged in the charger.
After some time (seconds) the orange battery came on, and the battery was beeing charged.
I left the phone charging for some time (expecting the light to go green when done), but it never did (NANDproblem?)
So after 1/2 day of charging, I disconnected the charger, and guess what.. the oragne light was still on.
Again I removed the battery, reinserted it again, and powerd on the phone.
The battery was fully charged, and I'm now enjoying 2 to 3 days of phone use before needing to charge it again.
Now.. I'm not 100% sure about 1st connecting the charger, and reinsering the battery, or 1st reinsering the battery and than connecting it to the charger.
I'm having charging issues but in a different way.
when i plug the charger to the phone while the screen is off, the LED does not light until I i press the red button (actually any button) to wake up the screen.
Is anybody having a similar issue?

This is not a problem for me too. The real problem is with whatsapp
when ever someone sends me a message on whatsapp while the screen is off, i dont receive it until i press the power button to unlock the screen. So i thought this might have anything to do with the charge issue.
I have no problem with this bug,he it is on the charger,so why turn it off is my question.....i just turn the sound off lol.
i have an hd2 with a dead battery and when i go to power on the phone while connected to the wall charger it just vibates once. this is a sign of a dead battery and magldr 1.2 incapability to charge while off right?
yep, either borrow another battery to flash your phone back to winmo so it ch=an charge, , or, , charge in another winmo hd2, or, get an old usb cable, cut off the usb head, find the red and black wires, bare them, hold red to + and black to -, plug into wall charger for a m inute or two, battery should have enough charge to boot enough to start charging.
Use clk allows charging in off state plus in my opinion better touch screen response.

another quick question. is it correct that the only way to power on the phone is by the power button or the reset + volume down combo with magldr 1.2. because my keypad broke and im waiting in the mail for another 1, and wanted to know alternate ways to power the device on besides the power button
If its latest magldr it detects the insertion of power and turns on. Charge your battery a little, and when you plug charger in it should fire up.

Wait, wait, wait!? Sam couldn't get cLK to run properly?
no what im asking is if my phone led dont light up while connected through the charger, and the phone only vibrates once and never powers on. does this mean the battery is dead. i read several places where magldr 1.2 doesnt charge while its off.
FYI-before i changed my keypad i sucessfully flashed an android rom and the correct radio and hard spl. so i know its not bricked.
none of the magldrs charge when off, but the latest one 1.13 (where you get 1.2 from? 1.12 perhaps?) detects when it should start charging when off, and turns on.
I had to do that usb lead thing i talked about last week, let the phone die, couldnt charge it. worked no problem.

as in my PM, not that i remember, BUT, the phone does give a little shake when it turns on normally, so i can imagine an almost flat battery might vibrate then go straight off a few times before the battery is truly flat, and you shouldnt keep trying, save teh dregs of power, and try top it up as noted with an old usb cable. doesnt have to be micro usb, any old normal usb cable will do, black and red wires to - and + for 30 seconds in the wall charger, thats what i did.
hello, got an hd2 which stay on "first screen": on the screen appear only "htc" and down r, s and d (radio 2.15).after few seconds the screen goes coloured and that's all. strange thing, i can go to bootloader but when try to put the usb cable the screen goes black and that's it. can my phone be repaired?
even when i put the usb charger (phone is closed) the led didn't light, but the battery goes warm.
thx

Have you tried a different battery?
Have you tried cooling the device?
If the bootloader is intact just get an another
battery and flash a WM 6.5 rom via a SD card.
Please keep us posted....all the best.
Hey folks, i have a HD2 which isn't turning on. I received a call and it just switched off. Now there is no activity in it at all. No led when connected to a charger. I had MIUI installed on the phone.
The repair people say that the motherboard needs to be replaced which would cost approx 12000INR.
Any way i could revive it back?
Please suggest. Thank you!

You can try the the freezer trick, put the device in a zip lock bag and put it in the freezer for a few minutes and then see if you can turn it on or charge it. You can also take a old USB cable and cut the mico USB end off and strip the wires back then touch the read to the + on the battery and the black to the - on the battery for a minute or two and then try to boot the device. I sorta souds like you were using MAGLDR and the battery died. You can not charge the device while it is off with MAGLDR. So I would try charging the battery first.
Thank you for replying. You're right i was using Magdlr. I'll try what you said

I've got the exact sam prob, the HD2 was using MAGLDR, and now it won't start (except for a few times it did), but I honestly can't figure how - since once it had been charged on an external batery charger, and then it turned on and worked for a while, but now it won't work with a charged battery...because I tried using it with another HD2 phone's battery which also has MAGLDR and which works (even with my phone's battery).
The pins have been changed, and it worked then also for a while I've been said, but it's not working again now.
Any help please?
TIA
P.S. I've tried ziplock...15min...nothing :/ How to try the USB? Which wires should I connect to which pins please?

but be very carefull, if you have an external batt. charger that would be best

or mini usb, or even an old usb printer cable, with the chunky end, , it doesn't matter which type.
Thanks samsamuel,
Seen the +/- signs on the back of the battery late, after having meassured the voltage, which is 4.14V (should I do the USB charge then even and how long is it safe since my battery powers up another HD2)?
TIA
if teh battery works in another device, then no, theres no point, its not that.
4.14 is fine, i think it goes up to about 4.2/4.3 when full, drops to the low 3.x when drained.
If the freezer trick didn't help either, then its gotta be either hardware, or something totally catastrophic, so if its an option for you, id try JTAG, failing that, id be considering using it for parts, , buying one with a cracked screen perhaps, and swapping your screen into it, ,
dont take my word for it, though, read learn and try things, you never know.
Hi,
So i Had this Htc HD2 . I got it as a gift from USA. I've used it like 2/3 month. I installed MIUI rom on this device. And then i hot another phone and didn't used that phone anymore. But today i found this phone and i tried to turn it on. Then I saw that the phone isnt turning on. It just stays black and just vibrates. I dont know what is wrong with this. I live in Bangladesh. We dont have any HTC customer service stores here. So i need help with this. If anyone can Help please let me know. and by the way its TMOUS HD2.
Check battery pins are contacting correctly.
Check battery voltage - lower than 3.2V try charging the battery externally & not in the HD2, if you do not have an external charger you can use a USB cable & cut mini/micro usb plug off then touch the red+ & black- wires to + - battery terminals for about 1 minute or bit longer if battery completely flat then put it back in HD2 & see if can boot.

Are you sure it's not just out of battery? If it had NAND Android installed on it via MAGLDR and you didn't bother turning it off then it could have just run out of charge. Since you can't charge the phone when it's off in MAGLDR, you'll have to cut open a USB cable which hopefully @samsamuel will come along and tell you about since I always forget what has to be connected where.
If you know it isn't the battery, then can you boot into the bootloader (hold vol down + power)? If you can get to that then you can try flashing a WinMo stock ROM to confirm it isn't some sort of hardware issue.

I wasnt sure if it was battery or not. And then i recharged the battery with a external charger and tried to turn it on. But no luck. it stays just the same. and i cant even get into boot loader (tri color screen). NO nothing. it just vibrates.
