Magldr quick question - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

i have an hd2 with a dead battery and when i go to power on the phone while connected to the wall charger it just vibates once. this is a sign of a dead battery and magldr 1.2 incapability to charge while off right?

yep, either borrow another battery to flash your phone back to winmo so it ch=an charge, , or, , charge in another winmo hd2, or, get an old usb cable, cut off the usb head, find the red and black wires, bare them, hold red to + and black to -, plug into wall charger for a m inute or two, battery should have enough charge to boot enough to start charging.

Use clk allows charging in off state plus in my opinion better touch screen response.
Sent from my HTC HD2 using XDA App

another quick question. is it correct that the only way to power on the phone is by the power button or the reset + volume down combo with magldr 1.2. because my keypad broke and im waiting in the mail for another 1, and wanted to know alternate ways to power the device on besides the power button

If its latest magldr it detects the insertion of power and turns on. Charge your battery a little, and when you plug charger in it should fire up.

Wait, wait, wait!? Sam couldn't get cLK to run properly?

no what im asking is if my phone led dont light up while connected through the charger, and the phone only vibrates once and never powers on. does this mean the battery is dead. i read several places where magldr 1.2 doesnt charge while its off.
FYI-before i changed my keypad i sucessfully flashed an android rom and the correct radio and hard spl. so i know its not bricked.

none of the magldrs charge when off, but the latest one 1.13 (where you get 1.2 from? 1.12 perhaps?) detects when it should start charging when off, and turns on.
I had to do that usb lead thing i talked about last week, let the phone die, couldnt charge it. worked no problem.

did you get the symptons of a single vibrate and no power when you tried to turn it on? *crosses fingers*

as in my PM, not that i remember, BUT, the phone does give a little shake when it turns on normally, so i can imagine an almost flat battery might vibrate then go straight off a few times before the battery is truly flat, and you shouldnt keep trying, save teh dregs of power, and try top it up as noted with an old usb cable. doesnt have to be micro usb, any old normal usb cable will do, black and red wires to - and + for 30 seconds in the wall charger, thats what i did.

How do I charge my phone?(IS ANYONE FROM ORLANDO FL WILLING TO HELP?)

It's got the newest version of MAGLDR on it and CWM 150 MB, with a non-working android build loaded on.
0% battery. Left it plugged in on MAGLDR for hours on end and it still won't load.
How the hell do I do this?
EDIT
If someone from Orlando FL would let me use their battery for 10 minutes, or use their phone to charge mine for 20 or so, I'd be greatly appreciative. I could buy you a beer or something......
I appreciate the help guys. Thank you so much.
This is why XDA is so amazing, is because of the wonderful community that helps others that need it.
Is that sarcasm?
You have a few options.... load cLK or flash a working android or stock rom, just keep your phone plugged into computer while you're doing one of those.

I can't flash an android rom without loading into CWM, because most all ROM's are CWM or CLK only.
When I try to load into CWM it reboots the phone due to low battery.

When you buy a new battery, most of the time they come un-charged, correct?
So because I tried to flash a new ROM and it didn't work, I'm screwed and my phone is bricked unless I can find another charged battery?

it only requires 50% when winmo is running. When you enter bootloader manually, ruu doesnt give that warning.
The reason you cant charge in magldr is because magldr cant charge the phone, , a rom needs to be running to charge it.
If you have an old usb cable lying about (mini or micro, doesnt matter) cut the end off, find the red and black wires, take out your battery, connect red to + and black to - for a minute or two. With a little luck you will have enough power to flash.

An alternative w/o having to buy anything
this method is from WP7 0% battery problem!!
1. HOLD POWER till reach MAGLDR menu
2. Select USB Storage
3. Plug USB to power and charge.....
This works for WP7 with 0% battery left, they have to do this because WP7 won't boot with 0% battery (auto shut off) and MAGLDR don't charge with the device turned off

This will not work, as Samsamuel said befor you have to have a working ROM on the phone to charge with MAGLDR. This comes straight from the MAGLDR thread.
*Fixed Power-Off-Cable-Plug-Stop. Phone now detects this situation and reboots. Battery controller inside LEO needs runtime control during charge, it implemented in OS.

No. Cannot charge from bootloader. Takes a while, but even in bootloader it will eventually die.

Thank you. I did as you instructed, and left my phone plugged into USB while in MAGLDR "USB MassStg" mode for 10 hours.
Still not enough juice to even boot into AD Recovery (CWM) for 2 seconds.
I've just ordered this: https://www.dealextreme.com/p/repla...attery-charging-dock-cradle-for-htc-hd2-43026
Thought I know it probably won't arrive for 15-40 business days.

Try Samsamuels suggestion I promise you it does work and you only have to let the battery charge for 15 to 20 minutes and you will have enough charge to boot up and flash your ROM using CWM and then you can boot your ROM and charge the regular way. Also yoiu can buy a very cheap USB cable to do this too which is cheaper than buying another battery or a external charger.

I figured as much both after reading your previous post, and realizing that my phone wasn't charged. Thank you, though I'm still no closer to a solution.
I've sent out a message to an old classmate who used to have an HD2. I don't know if he still does. I sent a message to 5-6 craigslist classifieds ads asking them if before they sell their phone they'd let me use it really quickly to charge. I'm going to call T-Mobile store at 12:00 noon when they open (it's Sunday) and see if they'd help me.
Or I guess I could just wait a month or two and wait for my package from China to arrive.
Unless someone on here is from Orlando and is willing to help me.

Are you saying you can't charge whilst in usb through magldr? Because the other night I had around 20 percent of juice left, plugged in using previously mentioned, went for shower, got ready to go out, exited usb, restarted and had a good 50 percent.

[Q] HTC HD2 died and now won't charge.

Hi,
Since yesterday my phone (leo/hd2) died and when ever i tried to charge it it would go in to a boot loop then back to normal booting (as in wp7 bootscreen) but now a day later it won't even charge! I have checked the pins tried different cables and still nothing. Also there is a small red tab on the bottom of the battery near the connecter which used to be pink.
Maybe your battery is completely drained? If so, check here.
it won't even turn on so i can't perform this > does this mean it's dead?
have you tried a different battery because you have used a WP7 rom and when the battery drains out it can not be charged ( unless charged on another phone) so i recommend you using a different phone to charge your battery or get another battery into your phone
Thanks, i'll try that now. But does the red tab mean anything?
Hi,
I have this very often. Problem is that your battery is completely drained and the phone doesn't have enough power to start.
This is how I solve it:
start charging your phone
when it switches on, keep pressing the power on/off button
you'll arrive in the magldr boot screen.
just wait for about 5 to 10 minutes
start windows phone (it's possible you'll have to remove your battery and put it back in your phone).
Voila WP7 starts without any problem.
good luck!
try an external battery charger/universal battery charger. (i recommend keeping one handy whenever u r messing with wp7)

Piece of crap?
Whoa, cannot agree there...
If you carefully follow all the tutorials, hints and tips here at xda, HD2 runs fast and smooth with several OS´s of your choice.
However, there is still a possibility that your device is defective. Or the cable. Or whatever. But that doesn´t make HD2 a piece of crap in general.
Lol, its the charging port and a defective rom once i fix both i will have to go back to miui ;( Is there any rom which allows charging while the phones off.
Hi,
It's not the rom, it's magldr...
Koen
What do you mean? Do i need to downgrade? Can you charge while it's off?
if u have 1.13 and u can reach the magldr screen then plug it in,quickly switch it to usb masstorage mode. but dont keep it there for long as the screen will be awake all the time.
try keeping it that way for 15-20 mins,it shld give u enuf juice to boot it up

what he meant was that, its not the ROM's fault that u cant charge it while the phone's off,
you see, whenever u plug in a switched off phone,it quickly boots into the magldr mode, before booting ANY OS( or any version of any rom ),and thats y it wont charge while switched off(unless future magldr provides this function)....the only reason WinMo cld charge your phone while switched off is that it dint need MAGLDR before booting
try the usb mass storage method if possible,it works
hope i helped ya
dont forget to thank all the hardworking developers
I always have a problem with aftermarket chargers and charging through USB. It won't chargers in both scenarios....any body has an idea on that?
When my HD2 completely drains i just attach the (original) charger and it will start cycling boot...but eventually the battery will be charged.

[Q] Cant boot. Battery wont charge?

hey guys.
charged battery at night used it at work all day came home around 10 and battery was on 1%..went upstairs to charge but phone but was dead. when plugged into wall phone boots for 2 sec then turns off and boots again for 2sec....constantly looping like this? im pretty sure i just need enough charge so that i can boot into android and ill be sweet. but doesn't even get half way there!?
need help. cant charge.
im leaving the battery out for the night and im gonna try again tomorrow but any suggestions would be great!
thanks
Not sure but you can try this: hold down power button till mgldr menu comes. Stay in mgldr menu for some time and get some charge, then reboot.

Phone will not charge on magldr screen. Android needs to be booted to charge.
Get old USB cable, mini or micro, cut end off, bare red and black, take battery, connect red to + and black to - ,plug into wall charger and hold wires on battery for a minute or so, reinsert battery, should be charged enough to get far enough into booting to start charging.
First.. i had the same problem.
it have to charge while off.
before you cut off things, check the batterypins. one of them was broken on my HD2 (i saw one of them below my battery).
if so, try to hold that broken pin back while insert the battery and try again.
you could also buy a dockingstation (something like that: http://www.amazon.com/Fosmon®-Premi...P2YS/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1313518480&sr=8-4) to charge batterys.
I had the same problem once, I`m not 100% sure how i solved it but I think that I pluged it in that it started booting and removed then the battery. I think it doesnt start automatically if you reinsert the battery then... but I´m not sure about it...

thats correct, but relies on the bootloader being able to charge when off, so this method of fixing the discharged battery problem only works with winmo or cLK
Your right i had that Problem in the time i was running it with winmob andere haret

Charge while in bootloader or hard reset screen, it should charge from there.
However, the charging process using the aforementioned methods is kind of slow.
hey guys. thanks for your responses. i have left it overnight and it doesnt get to the 1234 bit. i have 3-4 cords so i cut one up however it has blue, red, white and green cords....whats positive and whats negative?
also my pins are fine.
this is killing me!
Thank you to samsamuel, i ended up cutting my old cable. connected the red cable to + and the white cable to - and left it for a hour. just booted my phone back up and got 1000 msgs and emails lol and im on 84% battery.
thanks again to everyone how posted!
much appreciated!
Good to hear,, for anyone else thinking of trying it, an hour is pushing it a bit, you are running the risk of damaging the battery since the charge control circuits aren't being used.
What Android build is this? I remember having a build once that required a special key combination to charge the phone up. I think it required you to hold the volume down and power while plugged in to the charger and it could charge from there. I don't remember exactly though.

EDIT: I realize now that it must have been something else, can't charge in HSPL or MAGLDR (duh). I have no recollection of what though (if anybody knows, let me know because it's driving me nuts now!)
OP, you do also realize that instead of cutting up wires you could get an external charger for your battery and just charge the battery alone, right? If you've wanted to buy one of those fancy desk docks you could get one that also charges a battery behind the phone

[Q] HTC Not charging while off (cLk)

Hey,

Thanks,

Did you check the contact pins between battery and HD2 body?My experience is that the middle pin is so easy to be bent, and can not contact to the battery. This makes battery unchargeably.
CLK can be offline charging but I still get problem too if I want turn on my device,,,i must pull out my battery and back it back to turn on my device,,,,

This is due to how clk charges while off. AFAIK the phone isn't truly off when charging, instead it boots to something (clk?kernel?something else?) that just handles charging with the screen off. This is also why the hardware key lights will light up when charging while off. You don't need to pull the battery, just unplug from charger and power up.
If you still can't get it to charge, remove the battery, connect the usb cable then wait a few seconds, finally insert the battery and your phone should start charging normally .
cLK: phone off under charge
Hi guy
with cLK 1.5.0.3 when my phone is off and under charge, I have to remove the battery because the led stay on, and as if I push the power button, the phone doesn't start on.
This happen also when I unplugged the cable and push the power button like suggest to jwchips (2 post above)
There's a solution?
Ps. With phone off and usb cable is plugin, the battery charge.
still not charging
phone still not charging, I have to charge the battery outside of the phone, then insert it for the phone to boot up, then it will charge, if the battery died on me, it wont charge with the original charger or with the computer USB...
Enable in-built charging mode in CLKs advanced settings and try.
Don't know about Clk...but in magldr...when in boot menu screen...HD2 charges. (Led is off...no indication of charging...but it does).

What version of clk do you use? The latest experimental version can charge in off mode (both by recovery or built-in clk) and wake up your phone easily. You can charge in off mode when using old clk. But, the wake-up key combination is weird, i.e. volume up + volume down + power key. It is difficult to press them at the same time.
If all failed, charge the battery out of the phone.:fingers-crossed:
charge it in tricolor bootloader! (volume down + power) and it will not show led during charge

Are you sure about this? I don't know exactly what happens because I only have WPH 7.8 and I can't really rely on the battery indication while it turns on. Every time it is different.
So, maybe a new feature in the next release of MAGLDR can be a battery charge indication and levels? Since it boots up anyway to charge (even in magldr), i think it would be helpful. What do you all think? Maybe we post a humble request to the developers of MAGLDR?

HD2 Help . Doesn't turn on

Hi,
So i Had this Htc HD2 . I got it as a gift from USA. I've used it like 2/3 month. I installed MIUI rom on this device. And then i hot another phone and didn't used that phone anymore. But today i found this phone and i tried to turn it on. Then I saw that the phone isnt turning on. It just stays black and just vibrates. I dont know what is wrong with this. I live in Bangladesh. We dont have any HTC customer service stores here. So i need help with this. If anyone can Help please let me know. and by the way its TMOUS HD2.
Check battery pins are contacting correctly.
Check battery voltage - lower than 3.2V try charging the battery externally & not in the HD2, if you do not have an external charger you can use a USB cable & cut mini/micro usb plug off then touch the red+ & black- wires to + - battery terminals for about 1 minute or bit longer if battery completely flat then put it back in HD2 & see if can boot.

Are you sure it's not just out of battery? If it had NAND Android installed on it via MAGLDR and you didn't bother turning it off then it could have just run out of charge. Since you can't charge the phone when it's off in MAGLDR, you'll have to cut open a USB cable which hopefully @samsamuel will come along and tell you about since I always forget what has to be connected where.
If you know it isn't the battery, then can you boot into the bootloader (hold vol down + power)? If you can get to that then you can try flashing a WinMo stock ROM to confirm it isn't some sort of hardware issue.
