Yes I am talking about Power saving Mode! Samsung devs if you are reading this..please remove it from your phones as it is giving bad image to your phones..Literally everyone I know who owns Latest flagships (s3 & note 2) are roaming with that feature on!..And I am sure 90% of people are..Sure they are average joes but thats about 90% of your customers..who keep ps mode on and then badly advertise how stuttery android is and how smooth iphone is..if you want to keep this feature atleast do it rightly by letting all four cores on..thats the main gripe..ps mode should lower brightness to minimum, turn off vibration and other services off like gps and wifi n data when on lockscreen..not slow the freakin phone down!..Please fix it for your own image!!
They quad core cpu is one of the biggest battery drains, and what you are asking is for the phone to become almost useless but smooth.
Slowing the phone down is best way to save power and the average joes that get flagship phones normally get them because it's popular, and not for the power.

It shows the notification icon regarding power save mode right? It's upto the users to note it
《posted from cm10.1》
I use power saving mode because I mainly use my phone to Web browse, text and email. I don't use my phone for gaming, in my opinion games on a phone are a waste of time and battery.
Why do I get the flagship then? Mainly because I like the features that come with the latest tech. You also don't get as nice a screen on lower end models.

Dear bondx99
Please keep your opinion to yourself a lot of people want to actually save battery during work. If you don't like the feature please do not touch it as you don't understand what it is for.. It is a quad core phone we cannot simply keep it at full power at work while making calls to clients and messaging. Beside we still get notifications and messages even when in power save mode.. I however do game when i get days off but 6 out of 7 days in a week i work this is where my power save mode comes in handy as i have to keep two of my personal emails plus a company email running 24/7, This is to use emails, social networking and calls plus text...
Seriously if you do not like it do not use it. If you want to rant about it please phone up Samsung, tell them yourself. We average joes actually work to make a living and the closest to a computer while traveling and working is our mobile phones and need the power to last as long as it can..
What a waste of a thread..
What a waste of a reply..
Why did i even bother?
I've no freaking idea..

Dear Samsung... Please remove the ringtone option, I only want my phone to vibrate on incoming calls. Human ear is fairly sensitive and prolonged exposure to sound effects and music can drastically decrease one's hearing capabilities. Please put a stop to this health hazard right away!

Sorry, couldn't help it!!
On a more serious note, Power Saving Mode has managed to keep my phone up and running for two whole days while travelling. Even with roaming (constant network changes) and WiFi on most of the time, plus taking photos, calls, mails etc, I didn't have to charge it for almost 48 hours. And sometimes this is much more important than having a snappy phone and many of us are willing to make that sacrifice.

Actually I kind of agree with OP. Most people I know turn this option on and complain about how laggy everything is compared to their old iphone.
The option itself is useful but imho it should not be in the toggles. If its there it will be enabled by almost every noob user. Why? Well just because it's there and can be enabled. A better place for this option is the power button menu.
Making it a toggle that is always in your face is a bad idea.

You can't really expect from mobile phone companies to noob-proof their phones, right? Especially their flagship devices which are supposed to appeal to the high-end users. Following your logic many noobs could accidentally enable silent mode from the toggles and then complain about defective speakers. Does that mean the option should not be there at all?
Come on people, let's get at least as smart as our smartphones!
my only problem with PS mode is when i uncheck the 2nd option where the fps is maintained to keep the smoothness, but fps still drops..

This is from a normal usage of my phone. As you can see from the graph the last few hours were me connected to wi-fi constantly, tweeting, fiddling and browsing forums. Yes a quick drain but this is a phone!
My point of this post is compare this to tablets and netbooks. The majority last 6 hours, tops. The SGS II is a dual core, amoled phone. It was always going to be a beast on the battery. However if you use it wisely, ie only have Wi-Fi on when necessary, the phone lasts as this phone should.
It out performs most tablets and for the relative size of both screen and battery I would say that's hugely impressive.
Looking forward to your comments.

Your post is refreshing because of the following:
1) Clearly shows the display is the biggest drainer of battery. Anything else means you simply didn't setup your phone right or have some rogue app chewing stuff up.
2) You're not going bonkers with "OMFG my phone only lost 0% over 4 hours" and then post a graph that shows the screen was on for 2 seconds. Uh, well... duh! Completely stupid and pointless, glad your graph actually reflects real usage and battery drain.

now im gonna say this,
you people really shouldnt compare battery time like tht. Its the screen on time you should compare!! its far more accurate than this. i can get around 3h of constat use and connected to wifi. this is screen on time.
what's average screen time in hours for most users? i've been reading about 4 hours plus or minus 1. 8 hours is unreasonable on one charge? i like to read books so i am wondering about this. i highly anticipate this phone but the n9 kind of looks hot too if the rumor is true alien dalvik allows android apps on meego.
So what? You kinda never used your phone. Surf the internet connected via 3g and come back to tell me
So you use your phone less than my grandma and hardly get two days out of the battery?
Great, that's nothing to be proud of.
With this usage my Omnia7 lasted for a week but the SGSII drains harder than my kitchen sink.
I noticed light consumes unusually lot of power too .. I recommend not using it as torch. White screen works just as fine for me (in total darkness). It seems they put in even stronger LED then in previous models .. and it better be used just for the moment as photographic flash. Battery voltage drops significantly .. and it slowly returns after the LED is turned off .. which means it's really strained a lot.
I bet i can get 2 days of battery in the way you used your phone. Screen was rarely on, so you just showed us that you can get a day and a half of stand-by.
At the risk of being accused of grandma phone usage im actually fairly happy.. The wifi sharing thing is a ***** so axed that.
This is with stock but rooted ke7

So pretty sure, yes.
Bumping my own thread, I'm a bad man.
Your replies were very witty, and I laughed incessantly.
However, I'm right and you're all wrong. All these lavasoft games - Restaurant/Farm/Zoo Story really do drain battery quickly. A combo of wifi, bright colours and eager progeny is hardly conducive to prolonged battery life. They certainly drain it quicker than my boy's other games (e.g., Cut The Rope, Angry Birds).

If I would have kids, I wouldn't want them to surf the Internet alone. There's too much stuff out there inappropriate for children.
My kids would get an old phone, which you can only use for talking and sending text messages and for gaming a Nintendo DS.
Think about this instead of battery live! The cheapest solution isn't always the best

I don't let them surf the net alone, under any circumstances. My middle kid is 7, and he's not getting a mobile before he's 10 (there's 6 year olds where I live tooled up with mobiles, which is ridiculous).
Any online games he plays are on my phone, always with me present, and no invites/social interaction without me vetting first. He has a DS and a Wii, and I don't allow online play with them.

The Nexus got massive improvements with 4.x though, that must be said.

XDA is a forum, and in the General Questions section it actually is a "I'ma post anything that comes to mind," as long as it's a question that pertains to category (in this case Samsung Galaxy S3). It's a great question that cuts through initial hype of the phone and asks users if after using it for a bit it still holds up to all that hype.
Again, the S3 is fantastic.

bump ^^this is a great question, i find more often then not that things tend to have an allure from the outside looking in that just isn't the same once you are on the inside, but people tend to hide their disappointment from the masses due to the fact that they spent the last 2 months harping on about it's awesomeness.
You definitely have to get used to them. I'd suggest finding a friend that has one and play around with it for ten minutes or so. If it's still not to your liking then wait for another powerhouse phone to come out (there should be a few more this year) and hopefully that'll be what you're looking for. If you're able to get used to the buttons it really is a magnificent looking device. Good luck either way.
Here are some battery stats from my first day. I hope they get better. This is with all radios on syncing everything.

People ask questions in the general forum all the time. The only way I've been able to draw a distinction is the Q&A questions are almost always matter-of-fact. You ask "How do you do..." or "Does this phone have..." etc. I don't know if that's the way things are supposed to be, but its a trend I've noticed.
My GS3, never! The screen is great, the phone is responsive. TouchWiz, while maybe not as good as stock (though to be honest I actually think its launcher is nicer than stock; messaging etc. definitely not) brings lots of useful extra features. And best of all, I can use it for AGGGGGGES.
Regarding the buttons, I like the reassurance of having the buttons off-screen. The home button can be felt, and just tapping above the bottom edges of the phone will register as the other two, so you don't have to look down to make sure you don't miss.
nah i love my s3 and especially after using the s2 and smashing the screen i was using a $20 phone waiting for the s3 to come out and its all i hoped for.

Here are some battery stats from my first day. I hope they get better. This is with all radios on syncing everything.

I noticed a lot of negativity about this phone whenever I open the general section. Since this is the best phone I have ever had I would like to know what you like the most ?
I really like the battery life, the camera and the screen. I have never had one day where my phone backed out on me.
The camera is really good I sometimes even let my DSLR at home because I have this S3.

I commute a lot and I love watching movie whilst doing so. The s3 fits my needs.
So what do you like most about your phone?

Everything!I have no complaints at all!

Absolutely everything, bar one thing, the screen in direct sunlight but I can still see so it's acceptable.

its not really negativity, more like certain issues and concerns but thats wy we have this forum. As far what i like about this phone, BATTERY LIFE and PERFORMANCE. Best phone ever without a doubt.
Except Amoled screen, everything else is perfect.

That made me giggle
The Super Amoled HD screen is a plus.
I like the performance and stability of this phone, OTG is awesome to have too.
Pretty much everything that has been mentioned as well as all the customization options that Samsung has added. I used to flash custom roms for these things but Sammy did a good job of making the ux much more customizable this time. Lots of options but that's what I like.

Pretty much everything. Especially the fact its not an iPhone.

1) The screen is great, but in the sunlight i cant see nothing!
2) The camera - The pictures are slightly shaky and blurry (possib from fror driver.. I expect jb)
3) The battery life - I really expected more, a lot more! & I dont understand how cell standby can engulf so much power.
4) The quality of construction and materials used - CRAP !
After less than 2 weeks I had to replace the screen & side bezels. The back cover is full of scratches although I took care for it not to stay around keys or anything sharp. They couldve done so much better at this!
5) The headphone jack is not on the bottom of the phone (like it should be!), but on top of it, making all the handling very uncomfortable (and looking goofy/strange). Why???
So except this, I f%^#ing love this phone & wouldnt change nothing! (maybe add 1gb ram =>2gb ram?..)
Anyway, on the software side, it is clear that Samsung worked hard for the user to have the best possible experience.
This is the best smartphone on sale today!

What I like the most:
1.- Superb Camera quality
2.- Speed of the phone, coming from an Xperia Arc my SGS3 overcomes it by miles.
3.- The Sound!!! I love the sound and how the bass sounds so deep
Sent from my SGS3... Yes I have it!!!!
up above all the smart stay feature- something that I wanted for quite a long time.
S3 is the smoothest phone I've ever used
For me s3= smoothness defined
