1st YES YOU HAVR STOCK KERNEL
2.ITS ACTUALLY NOT JB, Jellybeast ROM is a THEMED GB ROM.BUT ITS TRUELY AWESOME AND WORTH TRYING
3.If you are installing Any Custom ROM 1st make a NAND backup of your stock Rom Because Before flashing you might need to do a FULL WIPE/RESET
USING XDA APP ON SONY XPERIA U st25i

Before partitioning the sd card just make a backup in your pc because it will format the card
Flashing this will format your internal memory so make a backup of your contacts and messages etc
And Just follow all the instructions carefully and enjoy
Sent from my GT-S5360 using xda app-developers app

Then you have asked about SD partition.
As you have A app backup using TITANIUM BACKUP and other data
On sd card.
1st copy all important stuffs to Computer and then partition using CWM because while partitioning It formats your SD completely

yeah this is good CWM by skin works almost 99% whereas CWM by madteam has got some glitches :/ but i don't really know the proper method to flash CWM by skin so i posted madteam CWM
and ext partition size mostly depends on you app usage and SD card size..
if you are a heavy gamer and install lotta apps then 1GB ext is enuf.. else 512MB is fine.. select SWAP size atleast 64MB or more.. some rom's makes use of SWAP and use it as secondary RAM

It's quite simple
1st you partition your SD
Then flash Jellybeast
Download LINK2SD from Google play
Open link2sd and Select ext partition type most probably ext3 or 4
Tick automatic move to SD
And reboot
Must have root permission though

If you want to totally clean your system, and then put in a new rom, do the following;
Upgrade your Thor CWM revovery to the latest. Tegraowners is the place to get the update.zip
Flash a normal flash. No wipes or anything.
Then. boot back to your new CWM recovery;
If you really want to remove EVERYTHING in Internal Memory, at this point, go to Backup and Restore. Select "Toggle backup and restore of internal storage (/data/media)". Enable this setting by selecting it. By default, it is disabled. Then proceed to the formatting steps. This will format the Entire Internal Memory when you proceed.
Select Go Back, Goto Mounts and Storage
1. Format System
2. Format Cache
3. Format Dalvik
4. Format Flexrom
This will totally wipe out and format your entire internal memory. Then flash your rom.
Should do what you want.
I suggest you copy the contents of this internal part to your SD or PC, in case you find you want to get something back.

Exactly. Flashing to the latest recovery, means you do not have to wipe anything. Just "select zip from SD"
Blow me down and call me shorty (please do not translate)
None of that will touch /sdcard though. That's where all the large additional downloads (i.e. gameloft) go along with user data, pics, and such. Anything there can be deleted but I'd do it manually just to ensure you don't delete something you wanted to keep, and only right before flashing a new ROM.
You can also go into "settings", "storage", "misc", and delete from there. This is where all the [email protected] will be.

You can do it easily if you install a kernel with included CWM (Savies Kernel Rev 73)
You can find an option Format ext or sd-ext or 2nd partition there, it only works with CWM included kernels, sd-ext doesnt seem to mount with madteam/skin (the one thats flashable CWM)

You got CWM for that, if you are asking about creating, you dont need an inbuilt one, just flash cwm by madteam(or skin) via stock recovery, go to advanced-> partition sd card-> Give sizes -> Wait till its complete -> Partition done
For formatting ONLY sd-ext or for formatting sd-ext without losing sd card contents you need an inbuilt CWM..it can be done also with terminal emulator, but Im not sure about that..

I use the Typhoon rom too. And used it without flashing anything else for about 4 months .
Anyways, this rom already comes with an a2sd script. U dont need link2sd. The default script in the rom mounts the ext partition. I suggest u uninstall link2sd, and try rebooting. But i think people will probably have better suggestions

a2sd script for stock rom v 2.2 overcome internal memory issue

hello all.
i have HTC desire with stock ROM v 2.2 and i have rooted my phone and flashed the CM10 | Jelly Bean 4.1.2 - v3.1 which supports a2sd script and allow to install many app in the SD-ext partition but there were some problems in the battery drain . video play back flickering and video recorder so i restored my original stock ROM it is very fast and no the jellybean's issues but the only problem is limited internal memory so i need your help to have a2sd script or any script to overcome this problem
thanks.
Use any non sense gingerbread ROM if u want speed + battery life.
I would recommend using milwilds redux or oxygen ROM. They have a2sd built in and activated, so all u need to is flash the rom if you have already made the partition.

You need to flash a stock ROM that comes pre rooted. From there you can install an a2sd script.
I would really recommend a custom gingerbread ROM though. It looks like you just had a bad experience with the new jb ROMs, but trust me the GB roms are good. they are fast, stable, and optimized from a2sd.

1. Partition your sd card using this guide if you havent already done so.
2. Download Mildwild v4.9 based on Oxygen from here. Then copy the zip to your sdcard
3. Reboot into recovery. If you are using cwm recovery do the following: wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache partition, go to advanced and wipe dalvik cache. If using 4ext recovery go to the wipe menu and select "format all partitions (except sd card)"
4. Then go to install and choose the zip of the rom you previously copied to the sd card. Once it has successfully flashed, reboot
5. Leave it for about 5 minutes to load everything up (the first boot may take up to 10 min so be patient)
6. If you made the partition correctly in step 1, whenever you install an app it will automatically be moved to the sd card ext partition.
@OP, if u r going to use MildWild Oxygen (very good rom) then i would highly recommend changing hboots (if ur s-off) to get the most space for data partition, otherwise ul be wasting over 100mb in system partition.

First of all dont use cwm to make the partition. Read this guide to learn how to correctly make the partition. You can easily install 4ext recovery which is better than cwm and it will make good partitions. I would recommend a 1gb ext4, and no swap. After flashing the rom, a2sd will be already activated so theres no need to use terminal emulator to do anything.
Jmcclue is suggesting that you use a different hboot (internal memory partition layout). Using stock hboot with mildwilds oxygen rom, you will be wasting more than 100mb on the system partition. If you want to optimize the internal partition layout so that you have the most space on on the data partition, it would be wise to use the cm7r2 hboot, or even one of the custom hboots that jmcclue has made (check his signature).

OK hboot is the layout of partition sizes on the internal memory. There are 3 partitions: system, cache and data.
Stock hboot gives 250mb to system which is way too much because mildwilds oxygen rom only needs 110mb.
Since you are wasting 140mb on system, you get less space on data(to store app data on)
With cm7r2 hboot u get 145mb system partition, and more space on data.
Changing hboot is pretty easy, but i guess u could say its more risky than flashing a rom. Its not mandatory to do it but it would make sense to do so. Its your choice.
If you leave it with stock hboot everything will work fine, but your data partition will fill up faster. If you aren't planning on installing more than 50 apps then stock should be fine. If you want the ability to install lots of apps (more than 50) then install cm7r2.
How many apps do u think you will install?

I will change my hboot but i don't know which one can i install to work with the Rom and the method of installation.
i have read the jcullum's thread of custom hboots and downloaded the custom hboots but there are many files and can't differentiate between them which is the more suitable to my device and which is the proper method for installing it
which i can understand it.is too move any hboot.img from any folder to SD card and flash it from recovery ?
if this right ? i wanna recommendation to the proper one for this ROM and more safe definitely

may be more than 30 app but more of them is small sized app. the big one is Facebook app, messenger, maps, viber, weechat, and whatsapp
the another ones are some widgets and small sized apps plus to officesuite and youtube
No u don't flash any hboot files through recovery. This is how to flash the hboot:
1. Go to http://alpharev.nl/ and download the PB99IMG for the cm7r2 hboot.
2. Once it has downloaded, rename it to PB99IMG and put it on the root of your sd card (not in any folders)
3. Boot into hboot(volume down + power). Wait a bit while it searches for the file
4. When it finds the file it will ask if you want to install. Press volume up to install. The reboot.

[Q] my first smart phone

i just got my first smart phone
its samsung galaxy y
now the first thing i want to do it root it so that i can have some fun
so last night i did a little research about advantages & dis advantages of rooting
& i found that if rooting is not done perfectly it can convert my phone into brick
i mean it will become useless
is that true ??
& i have some more questions
we all know that galaxy y suck
low ram , low internal memory , old android version
after rooting i can increase everything but its safe ???
using a part of sd card as ram , as internal & external memory at same time ????
m not sure its safe or not
& even if its save what class SD card should a buy ???
i am thinking to but a 16 GB class 10 sanddisk micro sd card is it ok ???
& the partition will be
m assuming that 14 Gb will be usable space
i will use 4 GB as ram , 5 GB as internal & will use left space as external storage
is that possible ??
Yes it is possible. I think you should buy 16 gb class 10 sd card remember class 10 sd card. Dont worry all galaxy y models supports 32 gb sd card also.
* for increasing your ram go here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2321149 it works with all galaxy y models.
For increasing your internal memory go here- http://rootmyandroid.org/increase-internal-memory-phone.html it also works with all galaxy y models.
** but for doing all these must be rooted.

If you bricked your phone then just flash a stock rom means just flash a original os of your phone via odin. you can download stock rom for your phone from http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/ and flash it via odin.
How to flash stock rom using odin - http://androidxda.com/flash-samsung-stock-rom-using-odin.

are you sure i can use external sd card ad internal memory ,external memory & ram at same time ??
& then what will happen to inbulit storage & ram ?? does they get affected ??
any chance of damage to sd card if i do this ??
Yes you can use both at same time and there is no chance to damage your sd card.
---------- Post added at 10:07 AM ---------- Previous post was at 10:04 AM ----------
increasing your inbuilt memory is not that your inbuilt memory will incerased but it moves all the apps, obb, data, etc to your sd card. I have sent you a link that how to increase internal memory see that.
---------- Post added at 10:10 AM ---------- Previous post was at 10:07 AM ----------
And increasing your ram will not show you increased ram on your ram settings but you can feel it. I have also sent you an link that how to increase ram see that.

It's a bug in the kernel if you are using the cm7 kernel
It shows system is mounted when it's not
Unmount system and remount system
Make sure you format system then mount system
-Unmount system and mount it again
However as you are flashing hyperion 9 which is stock based you should be using a stock based kernel
Either way the reason why it only flashes for 1 sec is because system is not mounted
If system is mounted it will display "Unmount System"
If it says "Mount System" select it so it changes to "Unmount System"
