If you want to totally clean your system, and then put in a new rom, do the following;
Upgrade your Thor CWM revovery to the latest. Tegraowners is the place to get the update.zip
Flash a normal flash. No wipes or anything.
Then. boot back to your new CWM recovery;
If you really want to remove EVERYTHING in Internal Memory, at this point, go to Backup and Restore. Select "Toggle backup and restore of internal storage (/data/media)". Enable this setting by selecting it. By default, it is disabled. Then proceed to the formatting steps. This will format the Entire Internal Memory when you proceed.
Select Go Back, Goto Mounts and Storage
1. Format System
2. Format Cache
3. Format Dalvik
4. Format Flexrom
This will totally wipe out and format your entire internal memory. Then flash your rom.
Should do what you want.
I suggest you copy the contents of this internal part to your SD or PC, in case you find you want to get something back.

Exactly. Flashing to the latest recovery, means you do not have to wipe anything. Just "select zip from SD"
Blow me down and call me shorty (please do not translate)

None of that will touch /sdcard though. That's where all the large additional downloads (i.e. gameloft) go along with user data, pics, and such. Anything there can be deleted but I'd do it manually just to ensure you don't delete something you wanted to keep, and only right before flashing a new ROM.

You can also go into "settings", "storage", "misc", and delete from there. This is where all the [email protected] will be.

Interrnal memory problems

Hello,
I cannot wipe data trough CWM, and cannot install new ROM (it boots forever).
Looks like I have got internal memory problems...
I can boot CWM only.
Any idea how to format internal memory thru CWM?.. Or any other advice?..

Well if you went into the "mounts and storage" menu as advised, you'd see only two options for system, data, and cache, which would be "mount" or "format".
Which would you choose?
Somehow all that CWM formats didn't work for me...
Even after I placed the empty file"eraseData" (according to Thor) to CWM folder....
Actually, hardware reset saved my tablet
It didn't format the whole thing too, but it cleaned /data/ at least.
Any way, thank you very much for your help.
Does there exist some tool like "checkdisk" for Android?
I believe I still have to check somehow my internal memory card...,

I did an extensive search for an android disk utility, but couldn't find one, sorry
Oops, just found one, but it's only a defrag utility:
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.disk.defrag.rubiks&hl=en
long shot.. but.. you haven't encrypted your tablet have you?
If you've encrypted your tablet in order to access corporate exchange servers then you will find that none of these will work until you've done a factory reset (through the annoying as hell switch flicking method )

If you follow the steps correctly in Recovery, then you should see the whole directory listed of you SD card. If you don't see this, probably your SD card is defect. Try with another card.

Make internal storage 2GB

Hello
this is a guide how to make your internal storage 2GB
i have it since i get my phone and i have try OEX OXYGEN MIUI CM7 ICS almost all rom with no problem.
the change is permanent thats wy i will give you and a way to go back to original partition.
Instructions:
1. Backup your Internal 2G Storage, doing this will erase the internal 2G data.
2. Download the attached partition.zip to EXTERNAL SDcard, make sure there are enough space in EXTERNAL SDcard (depends on your data partition size, around 600MB is enough).
3. Disable APP2SD, DATA2EXT, SWAP.(if have)
4. Boot into recovery, do not clear/wipe, flash this package directly, same as flashing a ROM.
5. After flashing go to advanced options, choose to reboot to recovery.
6. Go into recovery again, do not clear/wipe, flash this package again directly, same as flashing a ROM.
7. Reboot device. Done. All data will be kept, no data lose, all remains the same as before, but the storage space has been changed.
Characteristics:
1. Data storage space expanded to 1.2G, internal storage space squeezed to 1.46G (you can use custpartition.bat custom your size).
2. Data storage space is expanded permanently, no matter what ROM you are going to flash, including official ROM!
3. No side-effects, very safe.
How It Works:
Changed the Huawei internal 4G ROM partition solution, squeezed 2G space to 1.46G, leftovers are given to data storage.
This is cooperation work with 凡人 from 5irom, thanks for his bravery to test it out, otherwise I will not take this step ahead, you know it is money, bricking is scaring!
thanks simplistian provide me a U8800H partition table, and translate!
This is not a ROM, this is an upgrade package, you can treat it as a simple partition solution.

Flashing Custom Roms Doubt

HI there people, just a n00b question, after flashing a custom rom in my i9500 (wanam lite v1.8) i see all my previous configurations, data, installed apps (including bloatware) are still on my phone, is this the normal condition? i mean....when u flash a custom rom previous apps and data keeps on the phone??? or im missing something (like cleaning cache or something)?? i just followed the custom's rom developer guide (download rom, backup current firmware, flash custom rom, enjoy) I supposed a new installation of all system's components was performed when flashing....any info will be appreciated.. thanks

1). It DOES matter... You are wiping internal storage... What are you gonna flash when the rom on the internal storage is wiped with ALL the other Data?
it a special feature of the ROM ur trying to install..... wannam 1.8 says - no wipe - hence it only wipes dalvik and regular cache - all the user data is preserved, like apps, contact, sms , etc, etc, - you wouldn't even need a backup when moving to wannam 1.8 ROM.
if u want to start from a clean system i recommend using the Super.Wipe (its comes available on the Phoenix ROM thread)
Cheers

With Clockwork Recovery you don't touch the internal storage, unless you use "Mount and Storage -> Format Internal SD" ( or something like that ).
Sent from my GT-I9500 using Tapatalk 4 Beta
Unless you really try - you won't format the internal SD with CWM. the clean cache is a command that cleans the OS partition - but if you'll format the internal SD you'll loose all data and apps
infact - what are you trying to do? do you want to completely wipe your device?
Thanks to all for your answers........finally i perform a new clean installation, wiping all data and cache and formating all the /data, /cache, /preload, including internal sdcard (moving rom to external sdcard first of course) and next flashing WanamLite using CMW.
By the way, i was wonder about i9500 suppose to be a 16 GB (internal memory) phone, however......even with a new clean installation internal memory its just about 8.77 GB, am not talking about free space (wich is 6.9 GB now after clean install), the whole internal memory capacity is just 8.77 GB!!! so what about the other 7.x GB in this model???

TWRP Format Data

If your twrp backup in microsd card then it will not delete.
"Format data" will delete ( system/data/cache/dalvic cache/internal storage)
If you are planning to clean your device to install new clean rom then Make a backup of current rom and all your data in microsd card/usb drive before you do this.
So if the backup was in the internal sd it would have been deleted then right?

After FORMAT DATA there is nothing there to recover.
Everything has gone, sorry.
Only if you had made a TWRP backup, stored in the external sdcard, then you could restore it and get your DATA files back.
But in that case also, your personal files(pictures, music etc) are not included in this back up.
Only APPS data, meaning files that make apps working, are restored this way.
ALL your personal data, are stored in the internal storage.
If you have performed a DATA format, nothing is there anymore.

So you can recover data if it was not overwritten, even if it was deleted. You can use special software.
Which options do we need to select to backup existing ROM? And to do a recover in case of device failure.
Boot? System? System Image? Vendor? Vendor Image?
Maybe a dumb question but: If you format data, can you boot in current rom?

No, you can't lol. Format data wipes everything on the storage of the device. You better install a rom after wiping everything or you will get stuck in bootloader / bootloops.
In some a/b slot devices, if you don't have a rom installed, your custom recovery is also wiped because it usually resides on the boot.img.
