Hi I would really like to have a Sony Xperia Play but I'm on the Sprint network.
I found a nTelos Xperia play and was wondering if I unlocked it will i be able to use it my Sprint network? Also will I lose my 3G connection? I Had a unlocked t-mobile G2 for my ATT service and only was able to use edge for data so was wondering if it would be the same.
Thanks for the input!
From my research nTelos and Sprint are both CDMA.

Not happening. Sprint doesn't allow other ESNs on their network.
Well that saved me some money thanks... Maybe i'll just buy it to play games...

This hero is the Telus Canadian version and if you read the descrip it says CDMA but everything else says GSM, so which is it? I want to use it on ATT
Since this is the telus canadian version would I be able to use it with ATT 3G on cheap 10/month medianet plan?
Hoping to get this phone soon with your guys help, thanks
That looks like a gsm hero. Looks just like mine which i use on at&t. Except since that one is telus, it is compatible with at&t 3g network. I have a malaysian hero so i can only use edge.

Do you have a internet plan? If so which one
Does att force you to have a pda plan?
I dont have a internet plan, too broke =(. at&t doesnt force me to get one because they dont know what phone i have. heros are not at&t branded so they dont have my imei number. if you have at&t branded phones like iphones they will force the data plan on you. but for our case we can decide for ourselves whether to have a data plan or not
I've just moved to USA from Spain. I have a X10 and I went to Sprint to get a Voice & Data contract.
They said it is not possible because USA's SIM system is incompatible with my XPeria X10
Is that true? I cant use a european phone with an american MNO?
I'm guessing that you have an X10i? (x10a is the North American X10 variant).
Sprint isn't a GSM-SIM carrier. It's a CDMA service that uses a phone's hard coded ESN number, no simple portability option there.
If you want to use your X10i (and take advantage of 3G speeds) you have to pick either:
T-Mobile
T-Mobile ToGo prepaid
Simple Mobile prepaid
Cincinnati Bell Wireless
maybe Straight Talk prepaid?
If you don't mind edge,
AT&T and AT&T prepaid (and maybe some other prepaid companies)
Yes, I have a X10i, so that's the problem with Sprint. I'll choose another company.
Thanks! You helped me a lot
I've just signed up with tmob but my 3G indicator is not showing up? Any ideas what could be wrong. I've turned 3G on and apn settings seem to be fine? I have x10i
For some reason, I thought the salesman said both Verizon & ATT GN3's were gsm. Is that true or is VZ cdma? I thought I read somewhere they were switching over at some time. I was thinking gsm was preferable, but is it?
Thanks in advance.
The N3 is world phone so yes its gsm too
Sim unlocked ? I don't know the note 2 was unlocked but you can't add APN settings

Thanks very much. So I could use it at some future time on Straight Talk network? What about ATT after contract met? But would an ATT phone transfer to VZ if it's a world phone?

The ATT phones don't have the CDMA hardware to work on Verizon.

All verizon phones have CDMA radios in them. The 3G service from verizon is CDMA. International phones utilize a GSM 3G radio as well, as Europe uses GSM exclusively. The 4G radio, however, is GSM. Therefore, all 4G verizon phones are also GSM. Until 3G gets phased out, All Verizon 4G phones will have both GSM and CDMA radios.
I saw a similar thread to this, but it wasnt my same situation. I've been shopping for a LG G2 to work on verizon, found a dude on craigslist with what he says is an unlocked one, Now he says its a sprint one. But unlocked for any carrier....is this true? Like is this even possible? If so, is it going to work on verizon...100%? Like data 4g, 3g etc?
Thanks all!
I'm not an expert but I believe they are both CDMA. So it should work

That was my initial thought as well, but for 4g it should work no problem but for 3g/2g doesnt the ESN have to be registered on the network?

Yes. Verizon years ago had a bring your own device policy that allowed you to register sprint devices on Verizon, but that was a long time ago.

So i am correct, that it will not work?
Don't bother.
CDMA carriers like Verizon and Sprint have a database of ESN's (serial numbers) that are approved for their network unlike GSM carriers like T-Mobile and AT&T where you can just pop in their respective SIM cards and use compatible unlocked GSM devices.
You can't just walk into a VZW store with a Sprint phone, go to the counter and tell the rep that you want to activate service with a (non-Verizon branded phone) Sprint phone. First of all, the ESN/MEID is not in their database, doesn't have any VZW prl (preferred roaming list) loaded, and in the case of LTE, isn't even compatible (VZW runs LTE on 700mhz, Sprint is on 800/1900/2500).
However, Sprint and VZW technically run their CDMA service (1xrtt, 3G EVDO) on compatible frequencies 800/850/1900, hence the reason their customers can roam off each other and vice versa. So technically it can work if VZW will accept the Sprint device ESN into their database and do all the backend OTA programming etc, but that's not going to happen. There's always the murky underworld of cloning, but i'll stop right here...
As for the person on Craigslist trying to urinate on you and convince you that it is raining, forget about him/her. It's likely that it might be unlocked, but that's only the GSM portion, for GSM carriers and not Verizon.
If you need a phone to use on Verizon, why not just get a Verizon phone and save yourself the hassle?
Hey I was wondering if I unlocked my LG G2 from T-Mobile would I be able to use it on AT&T's network? I would like to still get 4G LTE but I'm not sure thats possible. I asked a AT&T representative and they said that I would get AT&T's 4G LTE after registering my IMEI and with the correct APN settings. Can anyone confirm this? Thank you very much for any responses.
I used an AT&T SIM and the Go Phone $60 plan on my unlocked D801 for trip to Alaska in May and got LTE in many places. Use "phone" as the APN.

Oh okay thanks. For some reason I heard that a lot of people didn't get good data speeds or something like that. Maybe those people didn't fix the APN or the IMEI
Bump?
