Because you are asking in the wrong forum? I am not sure if these devices are compatible, I think you might have luck elsewhere. You could try starting here

XT908/Moto RAZR MAXX 4.0.4
Well I guess I assumed that the M stood for maxx a mistake I wasnt aware of at the time! And yes I know what assuming sometimes causes. But what device I have is the Moto RAZR MAXX 4G/LTE/running android 4.0.4 model XT908 Im with Bluegrass Cellular in KY. config version GAS_NA_GCXSPYDERLRA Build: 6.7.2-180_DHD-16_NA-27 in my opinion thats alot of info. But it is what it is! I totally love this phone and I can only imagine how much more I will like it when it gains Root Access! Hopefully and I hate to bother people but I was told that if I couldnt get root info. here it couldnt be had!! So here I am asking for the best method of rooting this device! And any help or guidance I receive from yal will be greatly appreciated more than you will ever know! So I guess you could say Im a student and very eager to learn with some of your know how and expertise! So I want to say in advance Thank you very very much!

P.S./ And I am having trouble to finding the RAZR MAXX 4.0.4 thread in this site! Its not a HD! So?

That is the RAZR forum and the Maxx has identical firmware and hardware except for the battery, so it is covered in that forum.
The current Moto fail root exploit for ICS should also work on your firmware.

Still not rooted and double confused!?

My phone is a XT908 Motorola RAZR MAXX 4.0.4 ok a couple guys have said that most of the known exploits will not work on this phone? 6.16.207.XT908.LRA.en.US is the system version and the firmware config version GAS_NA_GCXSPYDERLRA is this phone that different from other Razr Maxx's Im on Bluegrass Cellular/Verizon And its CDMA if that matters if any of yal know what I could try it would totally appreciated!

You can root the xt908 using this tool & I use the cm11 for the xt912 spyder and it works perfect on my xt908 from Appalachian Wireless in Kentucky.

any data throttle remover for tmobile?

I apologize in advance if this topic has already been approached, I did a quick search but couldn't find anything.
My twin brother has been wearing me out to research if there is any mod to remove TMobiles data throttling on his Moto Defy... I currently have a Verizon HTC Droid Incredible and we currently have a flashable zip to remove any throttling...I realize the Incredible is CDMA whereas the Defy is GSM and I'm not sure if tmobile throttles the defy from their end or if its something they enable remotely on the Rom... personally only handled the phone long enough to root it for him ,(he lives about five hours from me), hoping the devs here may know more about the technicalities of the Defy... any help would be greatly appreciated...and if requested I'd be happy to post the Inc. throttleremover.zip after gaining permission from the dev who created it...if the process is similar for the defy, it may be a good starting point...

Not any more, sad to say. It's now throttled on T-Mobile's end. You are out of luck. There used to be a great hack but it no longer works.

[Q] Re-group for finding a way to root?

Hello! I know that today there is no root for KK 4.4.2 with Locked BL. But I can not find any answer to idea why we can not take 2 phones (A with unlocked BL running KK 4.4.2 and B with locked BL on KK 4.4.2) and using dump make B as clone of A? What is preventing to do so? QFuse? Special signature like ssh on iPhone? If phone A passed all signature checks while getting 4.4.2 OTA why we can not do the same for phone B?
Are there any team which is trying to find a way to root or everybody works separately? Maybe it's right time to re-group, share the information, analyze what we have and try to find new weak points?
Problem is the phone B with locked BL has /system partition write-protected and there is no way to flash a rooted dump from phone A into it.
Unlocked BL doesn't check signatures (which is what it means to have an unlocked BL) while locked BL does check for signatures (which are impossible to spoof), so you're not getting past that with a ROM dump.

It's not impossible, but just astronomically improbable. You would need the private key that Motorola uses to sign their code, that involves theft or brute forcing (which would probably take longer than the universe has been around by a large factor).
You're asking for people to try to find an exploit on a phone that is probably at EOL, it's probably not going to happen. There aren't "teams" that just sit around and try to find root exploits for every Android device out there. Yes, there are few very intelligent people that have found many of the exploits, but if they're not motivated by an $18K+ bounty on a brand new device (read: S5), then I highly doubt they'll be motivated for this device. My solution? Stick to unlockable phones from now on. That's why I moved on to the M8, even though my HD and M are both unlocked/rooted with the previous exploit.
Not sure if it works for the M but .... A root exploit has been released today for the newer motos on 4.4 & 4.4.2 (pre April 30th for Ultras).
This release was brought to us by none other then Jcase.
Please help and contribute to the bounty for all the work and talent he has shared over time here on XDA.
Root exploit is in the Moto X forum.

You can't just "adopt" root.
This is a direct quote from this thread http://www.droidrzr.com/index.php/topic/46155-info-status-of-root-for-kitkat-build-182183/ on Droidrzr.com about why it doesn't work on the older Razrs:
Yeah I had jcase on hangouts. We did some digging and the patch that they applied in the coming 4.4.3 builds is present in the 4.4.2 build on the xt907 and xt926.

Oh Sh~t..I think I'll sell my Razr M and buy something more flexible for rooting.
Problem is, if you want a small Android with decent specs, and I don't mean just one with a smaller screen, but also with a smaller body/bezels, Motorola's pretty much the only game in town.
For $47 shipped, I picked up what I HOPE is a BL unlocked RAZR M. In my free time, I waded through hundreds of eBay auctions till I found an M with a screenshot of something other than stock ROM and found one with CM on it.

Nice find! Razr Ms are still going for no less than $100 on Swappa, so hopefully you got a sweet deal. :good:

Normally they don't go that cheap. Part of the reason might be because it has a cracked camera lens, but I bought a new one for $8.95. Possibly people also get scared off when they see a non-stock ROM because they want something that hasn't been tampered with. It's not the first time I've seen an M with CM on it that went for lower than average.
Hopefully the phone turns out to be BL unlocked and not safe-strapped. Seller said he was 99% sure it was BL unlocked. If not, no biggie, I should at least be able to get my money back if I resell it.
I might still keep looking because the phone I bought was white and I really prefer black.

It's generally not the Rom that's the issue, it's root.
Root makes your phone much more vulnerable in the right hands.

this post doesnt exactly answer the question, but if you read the quotes and reply from the 2 recognized security experts, you will get an idea of what could be done.
the post is a bit hostile because people were trying to discredit them, but there remarks will give you an idea of what could be done with the right skills.
Hah, if he cared about security so much, buy him a Blackphone. When he feels so secure about it, show him that hackers have gained root on that stuff. That'll let him know that there's always a way to breach security no matter what you do

Root is automatically activated when the phone has been in free fall for more than 10 seconds. Find a tall building and throw your phone off of it.
Seriously, have a look around before you post questions like this.

With it being a Verizon Droid brand, there's a good chance the answer is never. Probably not a lot of developers with the phone and Big Red is pretty serious about locking it down, hence the answers.

Actually I have looked. I have seen several sources that claim rooting this latest VZW Droid phone is trivially easy. They even post instructions on how to do it.
Now, I wasn't at first going to believe those sources, because they have some odd errors, like 1/2 way thru their instructions they start to refer to the Mot Z Force Droid as being a Samsung phone.
However, based on your knowledgeable answer, I will take your vouching that these sources are being 100% reliable.

Quite the opposite. If there isn't a root method on this forum, then there isn't one that works.

I've seen several sources claiming root for NON-VZW Moto Z phones (i.e.: Bootloader unlocked), I've seen none valid for VZW Droid (i.e.: Locked down like fort Knox)... Guess we have different search engines.
Wrote to Moto, no intention of unlocking it either. So unless someone finds an exploit/backdoor/Universal unlock key, you're SOL.
The current issue is that taking an update will destroy your chances of getting root. Take 0 updates until an exploit is found that will allow us root. Dirtycow/quadrooter are the only linux exploits that we might be able to get to work. Its just a matter of who. I know Jcase (https://twitter.com/jcase?ref_src=twsrc%5Egoogle%7Ctwcamp%5Eserp%7Ctwgr%5Eauthor) has posted in a couple places about compiling dirtycow and even has an "Android Hacking" basics kinda PDF floating around. He has done a lot in the community (SunShine) he doesn't deserve the hate being thrown at him for not developing a root method for this one device.

pretty much true
I wish that some developer would even try working on this. I myself have thought of many things and will probably create a separate post for root soon since I have a couple ideas which I feel MIGHT MAYBE work, but I need the XDA community to pitch in and help me think of a method. Like I said, I have a rough idea but it needs refining, which I can hopefully get from the community.
Moto z force jailbreak
So what you guys are saying it's inpossable to jail brake our phone? So I should just go out and get a new phone if I want to jail break it?
I was aware the when I bought my phone used that the Droid version probably wouldn't see root anytime soon but I bought it anyway because I did research online and felt the phone had good enough specs and the UI looked good and had cool features so I personally don't even need or miss having root on this phone. My reasons for rooting phones has ALWAYS been for performance tweaks with occasional UI adjustments.
My last phone was an Acend XT (H611) which before having the bootloader unlocked and flashing a debloated and tweaked stock rom it was an utter POS. I paid $50 for that Ascent XT and I liked it but performance and UI wise it doesn't even compare to the Moto Z Force. So I personally don't even miss having root.

Yeah need bootloader unlocked and Verizon won't let Lenovo Unlock our Droid version.
I am more concerned about when we will get another update for Oreo because it has problems sometimes.... I have to restart my phone once a week because the fingerprint scanner or chop for flashlight stop working or some other random bug pops up.

Apparently the Sunshine team that finally cracked the Droid Turbo has had no luck finding an exploit on this phone. It's gonna come down to giving one to someone who can crack it and pay them if they want money... If you really need root, at this point it would be easier to buy an X-Force, you can get the unlock code from Motorola. Verizon is not letting them hand out codes for the Droid Turbo 2.
There's a few root threads to read over, no one has gotten close to cracking the bootloader yet, until that happens, perm root is not achievable on this phone.
Has anyone gone for the bounty yet cuz I have been waiting for awhile now, I'm considering getting an iPhone or something

Good luck rooting that iPhone.
There's plenty of phones better than iPhone, and which can be rooted. You just bought the wrong phone. You should stay away from any Verizon phones in general, if rooting is important to you. Or at least make sure there's an exploit (like with Droid Turbo) before buying.
Why is there an option for "unlocking bootloader" in developer's options for Droid Turbo 2?
Never understood why Verizon will leave this option on the phone but can't unlock it?
