I apologize in advance if this topic has already been approached, I did a quick search but couldn't find anything.
My twin brother has been wearing me out to research if there is any mod to remove TMobiles data throttling on his Moto Defy... I currently have a Verizon HTC Droid Incredible and we currently have a flashable zip to remove any throttling...I realize the Incredible is CDMA whereas the Defy is GSM and I'm not sure if tmobile throttles the defy from their end or if its something they enable remotely on the Rom... personally only handled the phone long enough to root it for him ,(he lives about five hours from me), hoping the devs here may know more about the technicalities of the Defy... any help would be greatly appreciated...and if requested I'd be happy to post the Inc. throttleremover.zip after gaining permission from the dev who created it...if the process is similar for the defy, it may be a good starting point...

Not any more, sad to say. It's now throttled on T-Mobile's end. You are out of luck. There used to be a great hack but it no longer works.

Does anyone know if the Moto xoom will be flashable to boost mobile or metro or cricket like how the samsung tab is
Great question. I don't know the answer but the question is can any Verizon 3G work on Sprint/Metro(same company). You don't want Cricket. My quick look makes me think the odd's aren't great. But I think the EVO was fully ported to MetroPCS.. so maybe.
I don't think a verizon phone can work on sprint and vice versa. If metro works on sprints networks then a sprint phone could be flashed to work on it. It has to do with the wireless technology in the device. Plus, even if it was the same, I doubt sprint would activate it.

I doubt it honestly
My research showed that in some markets Metro has a program in place for reprogramming Sprint and Verizon phones for use on their network. However, I suspect they won't do it for a product like the XOOM.
I hope that someone figures it out. I am partially hopeful, I just bought a 11,000mAh battery for my EVO so that I can tether for hours at a time. Testing it right now with everything turned on, streaming tversity video to the phone for hours and barely drained the external 30%.
I'm honestly fairly ignorant on the matter so if I sound stupid give me a pass..
But..
If the hardware could do it, isn't it 'just' a matter of which 'radio firmware' is being used? (with regards to porting to a different carrier)
Motorola Xoom
Hey everyone, hows it going. First I would like to thank everyone here for all your hard work on these new android devices and helping people like me figure out problems to how to get these devices working.
I just got back from the store where I picked up the new motorola xoom. I've noticed that its on verizons service, but would like to know if anyone can point me to the proper direction as to how I can get this device working on crickets network.
I have a droid x, droid 3 all working on cricket data, mms and all working. next task is to get this xoom working on crickets data... any idea's as to where I can start off...
I'm not finding any informaiton about this device at all for flashing. I found someone who claims that they can root there xoom, ... its a start, but not really wanting to do that without consulting the professionals first.
please note that this is not my first go around with custom roms or rooted gingerbread roms. also please note that I'm aware this rom is the hunnycomb rom.
any help is much appreciated .... sorry about the spelling and thanks for all your help in advanced.

If by the new Xoom you mean the XYboard, it is not yet rootable. The original Xoom is rootable and has a number of awesome roms and overclocking kernels. Take a look around the forum and you will see many wonderful things. I'm sorry that I can't help you with getting your Xoom to run on the cricket network...

I must have the original then, I just got finished rooting the xoom. I do have a Sim slot that has a clear card in in, just in front of the microSD slot that says "replace with 4G card after system update"
So seeing as how I got this tablet rooted.... lets see if I can get it working with data, .... any help is appreciated
Hope this will help make a root possible for our Verizon Plays. I am willing to flash my phone if someone makes a solution.

I don't even know what these files are but I hope it helps lol
Why do people even have the verizon version of the play? In my opinion I doubt that root will ever happen nevermind unlocking the bootloader for those phones, the amount of time and effort it would take would be crazy. I would personally get a different one

We have them because att sucks in my area, and it was the only option I can get that I can pay the lease :/ I really wanted a play and thats the only one I can get for 50$ it was this or the droid x2 which... sometimes I think I should of got or waited for the droid bionic

because all in all it is a really nice phone, on par with the other 1GHz phones out there on the Verizon network just sacrificed 2-8GB of internal storage for a slide out controller.
Motorola locked out their bootloader but you still see people attempting to get past them, what makes this phone any different? OMG it has a GAMEPAD.
Either someone will figure it out or not, no use *****ing about what people picked, it was their decision. I am surprised my old piece of crap Eris had the following it did. Someone will figure it out. As this was mentioned before, for there being 1 CDMA model to the what 8 GSM versions it will just take a little longer then normal.
Or the GSM side will just spit in the CDMA side of it's face and attempt to forget about it, Either way it is still an amazing phone.

My wife got a Droid 3 and I was green with envy.... dual core OMAP... HDMI out... (no 4g in our area yet)... HUGE internal memory... amazing keyboard... until I tried to play Nova on it using the touch screen controls...
Gamepad all the way baby!!!
let me start off by saying sorry if i am posting this in the wrong section. I am just calling of for help from my xda friends.
By saying that, i am looking into buying another Evo 4g for my GF witch has a ****ty blackberry for verizon i was wondering if anyone has found out how to flash it over to verizon. now i have done some research and have seemed to get no where. many people said its illegal to copy the esn. that maybe yu can mirror another verizon phones prl. im just stumped on the whole situation. quite frankly idc what kind on htc or android phone it is i would just like to be able to flash to verizon to make her happy. i would really appreciate it if someone would help me out with this.
Why use a evo on verizon? ThunderBolt would be much better and should be able to get for the same price.
Yeah, my boyfriend wanted a phone "like mine" but refused to switch to Sprint. He travels a lot and needs decent speeds. He got the Thunderbolt & it's similar to the Evo. Comes stock with Sense 2.1, but it's still on FroYo. There are Gingerbread roms for it if that's what you're looking for.
It's a newer phone than the Evo but has about the same specs as the Evo. His phone stock matches mine rooted performance-wise, but his battery life is worse than mine.
I think getting a Thunderbolt would be a lot easier than trying to use an Evo on Verizon.

Verizon will NOT activate a non-Verizon device on their network. Period. If you choose to clone esn and such illegal measures, you do it at your own risk. Why go through all this trouble and risk being prosecuted for breaking the law when you can just buy a Verizon phone instead? Doesn't make much sense.
Honestly don't like the thunderbolt and the illegal stuff there are ways around our ii kno it. Was just looking to see if anyone knew them.

Really?? I have been stopping by over there about once a day or every other day and trying to follow when the phone is gonna be in stores and also the thread on Verizon killing grandfathered unlim data.
I didn't realize they could work on the bootlloader stuff if the phone isn't even out yet? Maybe I missed something, my bad if that's the case, but thanks for letting us know the other forum is up and running

My guess would be that he saw the thread with "unlocked bootloader" in the title and assumed people were working on it before actually reading the thread (or maybe I'm missing something?). I agree with you that I don't think they can really work on unlocking the bootloader without actually having the phone.
You can root and unlock the device without actually having it. I was just reading (Android Police) how someone with a leaked copy of the Galaxy S3 software was close to rooting and unlocking it.
edit: Aren't all HTC devices unlockable anyways? HTC has their development website where you can unlock devices and most are included soon after launch.

Interesting.
I still think that the way Alton worded it, it seemed like he was saying that somewhere in the Inc 4G forums people were working on it, which I don't believe is true (at least I can't find it). But your point is valid.
Hi, since a few of us have this model and the related posts get lost among the other forums and as a way to keep make information more accesible to our fellow u8800-51 owners i think it would be nice to have a U8800-51 development forum. That's it, just sharing this idea.
Hmmm. Fighting with all the mods won't get you it. There is only one way and that is in some submitting form. There is not enough demand as it looks.

Hi Mayers.... i have a -51 and see the u8800pro dev forum. I´m Brazilian and see others with same phone here. I think just getting organized embedded in the forum u8800pro-dev, since most of u8800pro firmwares are compatible with our device.
I have the same problem. I lose myself in forum u8800 and u8800 pro
and understand that u8800-51 is basically the same pro ... but there are other drivers for Wi - Fi and mobile data
:crying:I tried all the ics pro 8800 pro- no wifi.
:crying:aurora no mobile data.
In short it's a mess.....
I want to make things right
Remember u8800-51, we exist!
Well, post your request in the requesting form

Where is request forum located? Consumer Cellular in the US is selling the 8800-51 with 2.2.2. Currently the 51 appears to be the neglected device out of the family.

The request forum is located HERE.
And for anyone looking for some ROM there appears to be two here:

Because more people are realizing they are by wifi most of the time. If you are on a family plan you can cut your att bill by about half by moving to consumer cellular, depending on your data usage or ability to use data wisely. More people are aware how bad the main providers are screwing them in the US and they are finally willing to take some steps to do something about it. I realize Consumer Cellular is an att reseller but moving to them still saved us a bundle.
The 8800-51 is the faster of two huawei phone sold by Consumer Cellular so that may be why there is a sudden interest in the phone.

Verizon and AT&T. Well, I'm trying to modify some modules.
Sent from my u8800-51.
Here in chile the -51 is the only u8800 family phone available. i actually bought it thinking it would have some kind of support since they advertised it as the u8800 which has 4.0
and yhea, the u8800-pro forum can be quite confusing for new members and users.
