Chrome kept asking for my account password - Nexus 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

On both my Nexus 7 and Galaxy Nexus, the Chrome browser kept asking for my password. I have 2-step verification setup. I tried using the generated application specific code and it didn't work. I tried my normal password, that didn't work either. I also tried the code generated by the authentication app and still no luck. I figured I must have overlooked something very simple but can't think of what. Hope you guys can help.

WLAN :: Browser authentication trouble

Hey guys,
At my school the students have access to an open WiFi network. The internet connection is routed through a local proxy, and when we first open the web browser we are presented with an authentication page where we input username and password. Using Firefox, Chrome, or any other browser on a regular computer, this works just fine.
On my Hero however, something prevents it from working correctly. I get the authentication screen, input my username and password, I click Login, but from here nothing seems to work.
The proxy spits out a message saying something like "authentication successful, logging you on to the network", but then it says something about a DNS timeout, and that I have to restart my browser to gain internet access.
Obviously, that doesn't work. I tried once to load google.com, using its IP and it worked I think (given that the browser didn't load it from the cache). I guess the problem somehow relates to the way Android handles DNS.
My Hero is not rooted, and for various reasons I'm not planning to do it either. Running latest official ROM.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated, as IT on my school doesn't seem to actually know anything about the authentication process.
I also have problem with secure login but in my case I can't load the securelogin page where I need to enter the user name and password.
Non android phone don't see this problem and also I don't have this problem with my android at my home with open WIFI.
I am using HTC Hero G3 with official android 1.5.
Hi, has anyone been able to make this work?
I'm also having the same experience but with my x10mp.
the browser login page is not displaying so i'm unable to use the wifi.
shameless self bump.
i have already tried 2 apps (Open Wifi Login and Browser Wifi Login) that should have solved this but did not.
can anybody help with this issue?

HELP! Can't login

A few days ago i changed my gmail PW. Now the android features on my tablet won't work (gtalk, market, etc). When I'm prompted to enter my PW, i get a network connection error message. I've tried 'force stopping' the gmail, and google apps, without any luck. I have restored tablet to factory setting and even created a new gmail account to try but i can't login.
The browser works fine so I have ruled out the possibility of wi-fi connection. I would really appreciate some input.
any chance you have 2-step authentication enabled?

I check my google account setting. It asks me if i want to setup 2 step verification - i assume it's not currently active right?
I get the same network error message with my old account that my phone is registered to as well as the fresh one i made up just to see if it was my account.

Can't get past password

Hello, I'm XDA News Writer mustangtim49 and I made the horrible mistake of installing windows8 on my little emachines mini lappie. I lost my normal home wifi and now I can't access my computer, every time I input my password, my computer says "your computer is offline, try the last password entered on this computer" I'm ready to throw it away, but do to a bad break up, this is all I have and it's really affecting my ability to do my job here at XDA. Thank you for reading this and any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

You can reset the admin password using various available tools. I haven't tried it with Win8, but below are instructions for Win7. It shouldn't be different. Worse comes to worst, just reformat it and re-install, since it's a new install anyway.
http://pcsupport.about.com/od/windows7/ht/reset-password-windows-7.htm
For more resources (beware of spam): http://google.com/search?q="windows+7"+password+reset
There were also some reports from the CP version of password length needing to be between 8-16 chars, else an "incorrect password" error occurs.

It's not a new install, I've been running it since it became available. Also, I read the links you provided, thank you, they require a disc to be burned, my mini has no disc drive.

Let me get this straight... is it your windows password or your home wifi password you can't get to work. You said you lost your home wifi. That has nothing to do with your windows password except it trys to check the microsoft account 1st then it uses the local. If there is something wrong with the local, take it somewhere that has free internet like dunkin donuts does in states and try logging in. Then switch to a local account.
I am tethering my phone as wifi and I still can't get past the password. It's the stupid w8 password screen when you first start the computer. Is says offline after I put in my password and will not let me in.

Being offline has nothing to do with the Win8 local password to login. I've been working with Win8 R&D for the past year and have yet to see an error like that.
Is it the WiFi password that is not being accepted?
Colphonix. I agree. Seems like the WiFi password.

Also, if you switched to a Microsoft account to login, the password for that account is the one you need to login, not the one you created for the local account.
I hope that helps

Google Apps on a Nook: Two-factor-authentication forces me to re-login. Login fails?

Hey Nookers,
I just noticed that I was logged out from the Google Apps on my Nook Simple Touch GlowLight, maybe due to the switch to using Google's 2-factor authentication.
When I tried to login again it doesn't accept my password. (Yes, 100% correct )
This happened on other devices as well, but then a button appeared that allowed me to use the "browser-based login". Not on the Nook
How can I login, with 2-factor authentication active?
Thanks in advance
Create an app-specific password and use that.

HMA does not work

as title says I cannot make VPN work. I tried its app and manual setup. I have subscription to it. I have unrooted stock rom. Can anyone help me?
It was working on my cyanogen modded note 1.
Not had any problems setting up a VPN. I take it you have setup your lock screen.
If they have the Open VPN files try https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.blinkt.openvpn
You don't need a lock screen password setup with that.

I tried to change to pin lock from fingerprint. But no use. It just cannot connect.

Maybe your device needs to be registered with HMA to be able to log in, or you already have another device logged in.
Personally I use Hide.Me, they allow multiple devices to be logged in using different credentials. And unlike HMA, they do not keep any records of your activity.
