Music to SD - Droid RAZR M Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm trying to move my music that I download right to phone with gtunes. The app says it downloads to /storage/sdcard0/media/music/ but I cannot find it for the life of me when I plug it into the computer. Any ideas/suggestions that would help?

/mnt/sdcard0 is your internal storage (emulated card)
/mnt/sdcard1 is your actual ext-storage
both are accessible via MTP (media mount) but your apps that store music ie spotify and google music will cache it on the internal storage aka sdcard0 and this creates a major problem that needs to be resolved.
samsung, moto have this problem.
only way to actually fix this is via unlocked bootloader to remove the internal partition that is not needed.
just my .02 on this. :cyclops:

I had read posts about trying to redirect google play music to cache on the external SD card by rooting and redirecting the internal mount point to the external card. This is over my head, but is that feasible with the RAZR M?

Any body been having this issue?? I've been trying to change my location foe downloading music to SD card instead of phone storage it used to be /storage/sdcard0/media/music but I changed it to storage/sdcard1/music and it keeps giving me that message in the little black box as shown in picture any suggestions as to why it does that?
Thanks

I was able to find the offline cache on my RAZR M using Storage Analyzer with root access. I found the files at /data/data/com.google.android.music.files/ which was a directory I could not find using other tools.
I was then successful setting up a link to my external SD card using directory bind.
WooHoo, 10+ GB of music on my phone.

No need for rooting. Download San disk memory zone for free. In my opinion the only memory manager app ever need for internal to SD transfers. Available on android play store

Hmmm, not sure how that app would have told me the location of the hidden Google Play music cache. I can see the cached MP3 files, but it doesn't tell me where the files are, which is what I needed to be able to create a link to the external SD card.

Look. DL root explorer. Go to mnt. Then SD card0 is internal. Find the file with the music. Then after verifying the music backup one time (or move it song by song) and long press the music download or MP3 download or whatever that file is called until the menu pops up. Either chose cut or move. You will only have one of these as they mean the same thing. Then scroll up to parent folder and click that and get Bach to mnt. Then go to SD card1. And you can either find a music file there and merge them (that would be an option when you clicked a file) or you could just move it to the root of your external sd card. Either way the files have been moved to off board storage. Done. Got it?

PS. Don't give a thought to the cache. That's totally different and I can tell you need to just forget about it for the time being. Get that file moved and I will tell you all about that file. (You can just delete it later tho or now.

Peep this. Go to academy and look for the ear buds with an orange flat wire. They like $8 after tax. Man I promise they so loud if you don't turn em down for a lil but at first you will throw up. I don't remember the name but they come in a clear plastic case with a black wrap with silver words. I stole like three of em and bought two.(yeah they cheap so they may break) they sound really good and loud. Like I said they less than $10. Ten bux gets you then and a burger. Academy. I used to build bikes and grills.

Wtf! Double files!

I am rooted with synergy. For some reason, no matter which music player I use, it's showing double tracks. I have songs saved to my sd card, and the same ones at mnt/sd card. If I delete one our the other, it deletes both! Why is it doing this?!

Well actually no root required using adb you can set install location from 0 which is system auto to 2 which allows all downloaded apps to be moved to sd card

It would help if you attached a screenshot of your Storage screen in Settings. That will show what is available and what is used. Perhaps we can find your memory hog.

[Q] out of space?

My wife just got an M as a replacement for her old Rezound. She has had it for about three weeks and the phone is already telling her she is out of internal storage. However, when I look at her storage it appears that only her "Backup ASSISTANCE Plus" is full. It's unfortunately causing her phone to be worthless. Does anyone know how to fix this? Her phone is completely stock. Thanks in advance.

If you root, you can easily store apps on external. Also, internal is partitioned into 4gb halves. One for the the ROM and the other for media/etc. Personally, I don't understand how people fill that up so quickly. I use very few apps and all my media gets stored to my external SD. I'm still sitting at about 3.5GB available on my storage side.

I understand it's portioned but I've never seen a phone require half of its internal storage. As for media, it's all going to her card. I guess if you use few apps your ok, but that's not the case with a 5 year. You shouldn't have to root for a phone to be functional with a relatively low amount of apps in use.

It came straight from Verizon as a replacement phone so all I know is that it's a refurbished phone. I cleaned up the backup assistance so hopefully that will help. I have a theory that triggered the warning and loss of functionality. We'll see. If it pops back up, it's going back to Verizon.

Makes sense since this phone is loaded with it. This is our first Motorola smartphone. Is that a Motorola issue with excess bloat? I know all phones have it but this seems like a lot considering the limited amount of internal memory.

bloat is an issue with all Verizon android phones (the bloat helps bring down the costs on the device).
one of the drawbacks to this device is the lack of internal memory. however, the bigger drawback is in the OS that prevents folks from moving apps to their SD Card.
but once I rooted, and installed a "clean ROM", I got a lot more space.
with your wife's phone, I suspect she has the latest OTA baseband (check the phone settings, if the baseband is prior to May 2013, then you are in luck - DO NOT ACCEPT the UPDATE). if the baseband reads May 2013, then your only option is to gain root access and freeze/delete the bloatware.
if space is an issue, I highly recommend to go this route. otherwise, start trimming some of the apps she never uses.

Out of external memory error

Hello all
Just back to android world with galaxy note 3 after iphone 4s and 5. I have used HTC desire, samsung galaxy s2 and several android tablets in the past. I'm knowlegable about rooting and some ways of managing android.
My issue is that even if I have more than 10gb of space in internal memory a 8 gb sd in place and freed up ram.. my phone keeps telling me "external drive space" is only 1,7mb. I can't install anything more than 40mb from android store with a 911 error. It is beyond amusing how stupid android can be and I need your help in trying to solve this issue before selling my note3 as soon as possible. Your help is much appreciated. That is same with me the system folder is somewhat limited to 2,5 gb and some applications or all of them ( I cannot understand) install themselves in that particular folder and voila!!!! With 32 gb of space plus sd card you are out of space!! Unbelievably stupid!!! I had to move all my applications to sd card and for now it seems ok? But I don't understand what is the point of having a 32 gb phone if I can only use 2 gb of it for applications.

this is what happen in iOS >> u don't have even file manager!!!
but u can access to each part of root in android SO android needs more brain than iOS.
btw u can use android like iOS if just using play store; buy music, movie, apps and etc and don't install anything by urself and do not use it as usb-storage.
However i didn't get these kindda problem in android But some friends of mine solved it by factory reset.
and this s because of dirty user data!
but in samsung way thr s problem in kies sometimes that cannot realize storage and make error because of no empty space for example to update phone.
anyway if u don't want lose ur data Flash another stock rom can be helpful.

Please don't get me wrong I'm not here to create a fan boy rage on android . What I see is android still not ready for daily usage of a "normal" user. A "normal" user who downloads music ,apps and games from the Google store and have fun with his device the way it is meant to be rather than spending hours to tinker and change stuff which should be working out of the box! I don't want to factory reset my note3 but if I have to yeah I will thanks for the tip.. I admire the things that android does but I will never understand why I have to spend hours to make it work..
