I am rooted with synergy. For some reason, no matter which music player I use, it's showing double tracks. I have songs saved to my sd card, and the same ones at mnt/sd card. If I delete one our the other, it deletes both! Why is it doing this?!

Looks like there is a symlink. Do you have adb shell access or terminal application?
I have no idea what those are. Ha. I'm new to all this stuff. I don't have those.

the only way ive seen to make the phone reread the sd card other then reboot is to change something on the sd with the myfiles app that the phone comes with... wonder if we could make an app to force a rescan of the card
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App
Or you could download a free app like ScanMedia that will trigger a media scan process on your SD card, no reboot required. Works great on my Fascinate
I also tried to see if there was an action that could be tied to a LauncherPro icon, but no such luck. It must be a more complicated process than that.

I've noticed that on stock EF02 and alos EF02Plus rom I'm having trouble with music indexing. It seems to not be able to properly tie albums to artists. Haven't had this issue on other roms that I've tried....Anyone know the reason for this? Is there a painless way to fix it?
No one else having this issue?

I think you need to clarify what do you actually mean by saying:

This happens to me from time to time with random electronics. I just think your sd card is confused. Its no biggie.

Also, manually inspecting the files on pc and then putting them back on the sdcard fixes it sometimes.
It might be the media scanner, even though its happened on my hero and whatnot

I mean a lot of my albums end up under unknown instead of under the artist. For instance ill have 5 albums by the same artist, but only three will get categorized under the artist. The other two will go to unknown. Its weird because I flash often, but it only seems to happen on the stock ef02 rom. Or Roms based on that.

Thanks you for clarifying. Well, you need to make sure that all songs are tagged properly.
I use Tag&Rename for this purpose.
What I find annoying is that if an album is a compilation of different artist and artist tag is filled with actual artist name vs something like Various artists then every player that I used treats it as separate album. I understand that it's probably the query grouping, but when I want to see everything sorted by album, why does not do just that, I do not want Album+Artist.
Hey everyone I have a quick question about PowerAMP. I have all my music on my SD card but when I start PowerAMP it only deteccts the sounds on my Internal Storage! Now, I know what your thinking, put all your music on your Internal Storage but I don't really want to take up 4 GB of space on the phone. Please Help!

PlayerPro FTW!
Go to main screen...press your settings button, scroll down to Music Folder. There you can choose which directories shall be scanned (or not scanned).

Maybe try rescan library?
Memory card is called (on Blur) sdcard-ext.
For me everything is fine on Atrix.
Are you using latest version of PowerAMP?
What ROM are you using. I'm on CM7 and can see both the mnt/sdcard/ and the mnt/emmc directories. If you're on a blur ROM though you should see /sdcard and /sdcard-ext I believe, not positive that sdcard-ext is exactly correct it's been a long time since I've been on blur but it's close to that. Anyways the internal directories are mnt/emmc/ on CM and sdcard/ on Blur. External directoried are the mnt/sdcard on CM and sdcard-ext directory on blur ROM's. Hope this helps.
I'm using blur rom and when I select choose folders it doesn't come up with sd card ext. I've decided to let it go and use another music player. Thanks for all the help though! oh, and one more thing, can anyone think of another good ,music player apart from PowerAMP?

Off topic, I know, but I am trying to isolate something. On playerpro: is anyone else getting stuttering when playing flac files? I am on nutrineo, I have previously been on cm7 full and have had this same problem.
Tl;dr:
Please play a flac file on your program of choice; state what rom and program you are using and what the play back is like.
Thank you for this and I apologize for possibly hijacking a thread.
I'm trying to move my music that I download right to phone with gtunes. The app says it downloads to /storage/sdcard0/media/music/ but I cannot find it for the life of me when I plug it into the computer. Any ideas/suggestions that would help?

/mnt/sdcard0 is your internal storage (emulated card)
/mnt/sdcard1 is your actual ext-storage
both are accessible via MTP (media mount) but your apps that store music ie spotify and google music will cache it on the internal storage aka sdcard0 and this creates a major problem that needs to be resolved.
samsung, moto have this problem.
only way to actually fix this is via unlocked bootloader to remove the internal partition that is not needed.
just my .02 on this. :cyclops:

I had read posts about trying to redirect google play music to cache on the external SD card by rooting and redirecting the internal mount point to the external card. This is over my head, but is that feasible with the RAZR M?
Any body been having this issue?? I've been trying to change my location foe downloading music to SD card instead of phone storage it used to be /storage/sdcard0/media/music but I changed it to storage/sdcard1/music and it keeps giving me that message in the little black box as shown in picture any suggestions as to why it does that?
Thanks

I was able to find the offline cache on my RAZR M using Storage Analyzer with root access. I found the files at /data/data/com.google.android.music.files/ which was a directory I could not find using other tools.
I was then successful setting up a link to my external SD card using directory bind.
WooHoo, 10+ GB of music on my phone.
No need for rooting. Download San disk memory zone for free. In my opinion the only memory manager app ever need for internal to SD transfers. Available on android play store

Hmmm, not sure how that app would have told me the location of the hidden Google Play music cache. I can see the cached MP3 files, but it doesn't tell me where the files are, which is what I needed to be able to create a link to the external SD card.
Look. DL root explorer. Go to mnt. Then SD card0 is internal. Find the file with the music. Then after verifying the music backup one time (or move it song by song) and long press the music download or MP3 download or whatever that file is called until the menu pops up. Either chose cut or move. You will only have one of these as they mean the same thing. Then scroll up to parent folder and click that and get Bach to mnt. Then go to SD card1. And you can either find a music file there and merge them (that would be an option when you clicked a file) or you could just move it to the root of your external sd card. Either way the files have been moved to off board storage. Done. Got it?

PS. Don't give a thought to the cache. That's totally different and I can tell you need to just forget about it for the time being. Get that file moved and I will tell you all about that file. (You can just delete it later tho or now.

Peep this. Go to academy and look for the ear buds with an orange flat wire. They like $8 after tax. Man I promise they so loud if you don't turn em down for a lil but at first you will throw up. I don't remember the name but they come in a clear plastic case with a black wrap with silver words. I stole like three of em and bought two.(yeah they cheap so they may break) they sound really good and loud. Like I said they less than $10. Ten bux gets you then and a burger. Academy. I used to build bikes and grills.

With stock app that is, how can I put my own custom sound instead of Google's selection?
If it can't be done then what SMS app do I need?

Put the music file you'd like to use in your notifications folder.
It should show up when you look through the collection of notification sounds.
Or have a folder called "audio" then inside desperate folders of "Ringtones" and "Notifications" folder. I'm use to doing this from other phones.

Desperate and Seperate, you know. they rhyme.
In your internal storage, put them in /media/audio/notifications/
Then they will appear in the list with the stock sounds
Sent from my EndeavorU using xda app-developers app
/media/audio/xxx is the pre-ICS way of doing it.
Now you have the Notifications, Ringtones, Alarms folders on the root of your MTP storage.
Some apps still create the old folder structure if it's missing, though (I'm looking at you, Facebook *shakes fist*)
Haha I had no idea it had changed, always done it that way since 1.5 on the HTC hero

I use the instructions above for random odds-and-ends sounds I want to use, but Zedge for searching and finding a bunch of others. I have the "Tory and Abed in the Morning" jingle for my text sound.
If your to lazy for that, download Ringdroid from the market and it will do it for you.
