I have ordered two N7 and ticked to connect them with my Google user. The question is if I'll get 2x25$ for my Google account afert loging in at one device, or i have to do it on both. In the future i'm going to use two N7 for two different users.
I don't think so, these kinds of things are usually a once-per-user type deal.

I would suggest using another gmail account just in case so you don't lose the credit.

I hope all we're going to do is login on both devices for our Google account and the'll charge our wallet with 2x25$ which we will spend on one N7.
Questions go in the Q&A section
I really want to know the answer for this. Have two coming from Gamestop and don't want to lose the credit on one by doing the wrong thing.

Why don' t you call google and find out?
I'm going to order 10 of these, apply all the GCs to my account and then sell 9 of the tablets. "Free" tablet ftw!

Because I live in Poland and they're not selling N7 in here and phone call to US and waiting 45min on hold would cost me more than 25$.
Google per device registration for apps and play store
Ok
Sorry upfront i cant remember or find where i read this. Thou i know it was a credible source for the most part . I have read that goggle Jelly bean has a feature built into it . To attach a unique identifier from that device(guessing esn) to the market and apps purchased on that device and make them not available on other devices unless you re purchase them for each device you have. If this holds any truth. I would think the 25.00 credit would also be linked to such a standard. If in fact true you would have 25.00 for each tab. not a total of 50.00. But both tablets can link to the same google wallet account. As i use google wallet for may things other then APP Store. Same with my Pay Pal Debit card.I just find it safer.
Sorry if this is a bit off topic but its interesting to really know if this holds any Truth. I have some not so cheap apps. I would SCREAM If they told me i had to re purchase them. because i buy a new device every year lately.

I highly doubt that that is true as it would make no sense to force users to buy the same app multiple times. Are you perhaps referring to the encryption of paid apps? That's to prevent piracy and cracking rather than the above stated purpose.
I activated my I/O & got the credit but when I activated the one from Gamestop, I didn't get the credit.
It would be prone to too much abuse, eh? Having multiple credits on one account. Theoretically, if you bought a tablet, activated it, returned it citing display problems, and repeat 7 more times, you'd have enough credits to receive a free Nexus 7 from the Play Store, no?
Unless I'm horrible mistaken, that's how I understand it.

Hi,
I just got my Nexus 7 and upon opening the box, I noticed that someone had retaped the box over the old black tape, using the black tape.
So it has to have been someone at Google that opened the box and then resealed it.
I want to send it back. I'm the kind of person when purchasing new products, I don't like bait and switch products. I don't know if this was a Nexus 7 that was sent back in for repair or whatever the reason.
I don't seem to find any phone to contact Google to get an RMA to send the unit back for a refund.
I can't believe this happened. How could Google do this?
Thank you for any opinions or phone number to contact Google.

if there is nothing wrong with it hardware and software wise don't because you risk getting a faulty "new" model. if you do notice any problems, send it back
awtz, i think everybody got the same doubled tape as mine too when i received it this morning i notice that too.. just a hassle to send it back to Google after the long wait.. works perfectly anyways

I wouldn't worry too much about it if it's defect free. It's practically impossible that someone could have bought it, received it, returned it, and Google reselling it in a span of a couple of days.
It probably had a last minute firmware update and they opened and reboxed it.

Wow was there really an option for that when pre-ordering it? I actually did the pre-order from my web browser on my Samsung Galaxy S II Epic 4G Touch.
If that was the case, then would that be reflected in the order statement.
But don't you think that Google should have put some sticker on the box for why it was opened before! That would stop any confusion over this. Maybe customs opened it? I just want to know the reason and then I maybe if I am satisfied, I will open the box and enjoy it, until then, I won't open it.
Thanks for the info, I will check my order for that pre-setup as you mentioned.
Rob
UPDATE:
Here is what I found on the order page (they don't do this by opening the box)!
Linking your Nexus 7 to your Google account during purchasing
When purchasing a Nexus 7 from Google Play, you'll notice a 'Link this device to my Google account' checkbox appear in your cart just prior to checkout. When you link a Nexus 7 to your Google account, we'll automatically send your name and username to the device when you first power it on. You'll just need to input your Google account password to get started.
So they do this by linking the serial number, not opening the box and manually entering your gmail account, which they can't because they don't have access to my password!
Now what is the reason they opened the box, since I've ruled out setting up the unit before shipping!

Google opens the nexus 7 orders from the play store and adds the account you bought it with for your convenience. When I opened mine, I couldn't even figure out how they connected since the plastic was all on the tablet just like when I bought my transfrmer prime, perfectly intact. Whatever the case, I'm sure they take great precautions not to harm it and mine arrived pristine.

I hope if that's the case, if the device has any obvious defects, they notice them and don't send it out anyway.
I have the same thing with the a cut tape and another one taped on top like the OP too. The immediate thought was "...man someone opened mine," then seeing how there's so many defects I'm glad google opened mine. btw I did check the option linking to the account. Now that i think about it I hope that they opened everybox and check (more QA steps and less hassle returning).
Mine still hasn't arrived. I'm praying it's because someone opened it, realized it was defective, and switched it out for a better one. As long as my password isn't already typed in, I don't mind that it was opened and set up for me. Especially if that means someone has already done a check for defects. At any rate, I plan on taking pictures of the box before opening it, just in case. By the way, OP, did you notice any thing defective?
For all those users that think I am overeacthing.
Google should have placed a sticker on the outside of the box notifying the customer that is was opened for 'x' reason or reasons.
That would alleviate these issues.
All I want from Google is the reason.
There site said that they preload it by using the serial number? They don't state in that explanation that they need to open the box.
As soon as I am able to get in touch with them, I will get there reason and either accept it or request to send it back for refund.
I just wanted know how many other people noticed this?

Right ,
just got my N7 , issue is my cousin added his own gmail id whne he opened it and checked it for defects and all, and lol his playstore id was credited with the 25$ playstore amount.
1.. is it somehow possible to transfer that credit to my own account ?
2.. if not then i would like to consume the amount on apps and remove his id from my N7 - could you guyz suggest some good useful apps that i can purchase and get it over with.
my primary usage is gonna be about reading books
browsing the net
watching some movies on the go
and similar stuff.

You could try factory resetting the device and signing in with your own, but I'm thinking they've probably closed that loop hole. If you buy them on your cousins google account and then switch to yours it's still not going to end up working correctly in my opinion.
I would just get him to give you $25.00 and buy them with your own account so you don't end up buying a bunch of useless crap that you can't use after you wipe or reset the device.
Well actually he is OK with me using his Id on my n7 for a few weeks,
Its his backup account and I don't have no interest in anything other than those 25$
So I think we can gradually get onto the purchasing part.
Already got tapatalk and thinking of getting some great document viewer .

In the help topic regarding this message, it mentions something about rooted devices being unsupported due to security reasons, can I still use this feature? Is it discouraged in any way?
If anybody has some insight or experience with this, I'd like to know.

The reason it is discouraged is because anyone (with the now-how) can brute-force access your pin if your phone is rooted. And then skip away making payments on goodies.

Plenty of you fly to Japan and China, they have been using it for years. You can try looking up PayPass mechant, such as this link: http://www.google.com/wallet/how-it-works/in-store.html
So it doesn't have to be specifically for google wallet? They work on the things like the speedpass at speedway or your creditcard where you just tap it to the machine and it gets your infO?

I tried to use this at Walgreens today. They had the translucent blue PayPass terminal. I sat there for about 30 seconds and nothing happened. I even tried to enter the app and still nothing. NFC was on, and my card is attached in Google Wallet.
I think I set up wallet, then unlocked and rooted, then had to re-set up Wallet. Am I doing something wrong? The clerk was staring at me like I was crazy, just holding my phone next to the terminal....

I had that happen at Taco Bueno. And a McDonalds. But at some McDonalds it works. I think that so few people use this system that when its broken no one complains. And its probably never even tested when they set it up.
Typically you can just tap your phone to the thing (no need to be in the app). It'll prompt you for a PIN. Then you can pay.
If it's not working you may have a poor data connection? I think it requires data to work.

I'd still say it's more secure than that. Anyone can swipe a card and charge it as credit. Relatively few people would know how to brute force hack google wallet on a rooted device.
Everyone.
Google wallet does not require a data connection.
If its not working , I read on the wallet website to "hold it about an inch" from the terminal. Without placing it on the terminal. Try to see if that works.

Yeah mine didn't work at the gas station the other day, though I didn't log out of Google Wallet before I flashed a rom and rooted recently so some say that it'll never work again after that because of the secure element getting locked or something like that. Hopefully that's not true.
I've flashed and reflashed a lot. All you need to do is delete the data, connect to high speed internet like WiFi, then open it up. Worked for me.

It should be noted first that I want to disable all the Samsung Account crap I can from my Note. That said, I do wish to spend as much of my $50 as possible. Will movies or music purchased via the Samsung Store play on a regular computer or my phone?? I don't want something that has to log into Samsung every time to make sure I am authorized to use it. I've got enough of that issue with iTunes, but at least there I can purchase DRM free.
Thoughts on where to spend the $???
I too would like to know what others suggest. I've never used the hub, so I have no idea if things like music are tied to the account or can you download it and use on any device without issues.
ive poked around, ive spend about 20 of it.. not much in there i like, far.. and i mean far less goodies then google play... if ya ask me, they should have gave 25 for the hub, 50 for play
Music is what im buying. You can download straight to an sd card and your purchases are saved to your account for later download or streaming.

Samsung's email tells you that a credit card is required to be on file when using the gift card...I think they are hoping that you end up spending a little extra.
So I can't decide what to waste my $50 credit on.
The book library is majorly lacking.
I'd rather buy an App from the Google Play store (don't want to deal with 2 separate locations.
Music? - Are these even normal Mp3s?
Movies - I dunno I guess I could rent a few.
