I received my Nexus 7 32GB 3G model on Friday and I have discovered something I cannot figure out.
I have an email account using Exchange ActiveSync (my company runs Exchange 2010). When I see a meeting invite in my inbox there is no button to accept or decline. When I view the meeting in my calendar I can mark it as ATTENDING Yes Maybe No.
Selecting Yes doesn't send a confirmation or remove the invitation from my inbox. There should be a way to accept or decline a meeting invite. I have that option on my HTX One X.
I'm running a stock 4.2 ROM JOP40C build. I have unlocked the bootloader and rooted the device using the Wugfresh Nexus Root Toolkit v1.55.
There is an option, (i've just tested to confirm my memory) although you might have to change tabs to see it. Under the to/from bar there should be 3 tabs: message, invite, attachment. Pick invite and select your answer. Fixed?

I just sent a test meeting invite from my home email to my work email. When I see the meeting invite in my work email I do see two tabs (message and invite). There was no attachment, so that is probably why I didn't see that tab. I missed that the first time I saw a meeting invite.
I was able to select invite and accept the meeting. I was not given the option if I wanted to send a response or if I wanted to add comments. The HTC mail app on my One X gives me those additional options.
So accepting the message worked OK. Then I went back to my home email and cancelled the meeting. When I received the cancellation message in my work email, there were no tabs to allow me to remove it from my calendar. I had to go to my calendar and delete the meeting and then go back to my inbox and delete the cancellation message.
I think Google needs to put a lot more work into their stock mail app. I can see why some of the OEMs replace it in their builds.
Does anyone have any recommendations for a replacement mail app that works well with the Nexus 7 screen resolution?
Have you tried K9 mail or Kaiten mail?
Very good mail apps from what I've heard.

I just looked at both those apps in the Play store and they both say they support Exchange 2003/2007 using WebDAV. My company is running Exchange 2010 and I need to use ActiveSync, not WebDAV. Exchange 2013 has been out for a while now and these apps only support up to Exchange 2007.

I have true push email on my SGS
my SGS always get the emails faster than Gmail itself
many times i see my SGS pop up an alert about new email, and me being logged into Gmail cloud on the browser don't see the email until a few manual refreshes after
also got thunderbird on IMAP4, so it should show up immediately, but SGS is always the first to pop up with the alert whenever i get a new email first

Push email works for me as well, i get the email notification on my sgs before my office outlook.
Guys push email in SGS only works with gmail or exchange accounts. For other email service providers such as yahoo or hotmail, you need to use the samsung social hub app. Which I don't really like btw.
Please correct me if I'm wrong

yeah. gmail app pushes email to your phone. The default email app doesn't I don't think, I haven't gotten it working. But samsung apps have released a new app that's called Samsung Email (you can download through samsung apps) it pushes email for gmail, hotmail, yahoo, pretty much the big email providers.
hope that helps.

Is this 'Samsung email' different from the default email app (not Gmail) found in SGS?
I can't find it in Samsung Apps.

Yeah Samsung call it 'Social Hub' as mentioned earlier, i posted the apk in an earlier thread here:

It works really well, it makes any 'normal' email push email. Two things that let it down for me are, you are unable to select multiple emails (no check boxes) and you are unable to select your own alert tone.

it uses the system selected alert tone
so, yeah, there is no individual contact specific alert tone, but it is possible to select account specific alert tone
say if you have 5 or more different email accounts, each one can have its own ring tone... but i think that is because i installed some 3rd party add-ons to get that functionality, forgot which (rindroid?, ringalert?, handsend sms?, some other players?)
I installed that samsung email app and it is mzch better than stock one.. Much faster and that app makes galaxy s much better phone and fixes its big disadvantage. Thanks for the app..

Got my new Galaxy S4. What is up with the email app? are you able to have it push email? i dont want it to poll every 5 minutes, i need my emails instantly...
I turned on sync in the email app, which apparently this is not push, anyways, throughout the day when i open the email app i get a popup saying email sync disabled. Why?
Can anyone confirm that the search function works?? I have my email set up as an imap account, whenever i want to search something in my email i get 0 results, and if i hit the search on server, it does not bring up anything either. This happens with all my email accounts on my phone, and my wife's accounts on her GS4. Any idea why??
I have a rooted S4, not using a custom rom. I have tried K9 email but it is just plain ugly. I actually like how the stock email app looks but nothing works!
I searched all over the internet and i dont see anything on most of these issues so im assuming im doing something wrong if nobody else is talking about this. Please, any help would be awesome. My wife wants her iphone back because of this.
I use the stock email app with no issues. I have it set to recieve from my work exchange account, my outlook and gmail accounts. All are push, and all of mine are searchable with no issues.
You may try erasing the account, and then resetting it. I know my outlook account is also an exchange server, but the gmail I think is IMAP. All mine have the check box "sync email" checked, and I set all to push notifications. Be sure you are setting up the account in the email app itself, that may help.

Where do you see the email push setting? only see sync, and whenever i turn on sync, i get a popup a few hours later when i open the app that sync has been disabled. Even when i enable sync, it gives me the option for sync schedule for at most every 15 minutes.
As far as the search, i use godaddy imap and yahoo. I cant search anything out of what is showing when i open the app. It shows me default of i think 25 emails when i open the app and if i scroll to the bottom it starts to load more. When i do a search, it only searches through what is loaded and when i do continue searching on server i get nothing more. The only results is what is in the 25 loaded messages, or 50 messages if i scroll down at let it load more...

The email app on the iphone is far better than the stock email app on the SGS4. I think the stock email app on the SGS4 is utter crap, at least with IMAP. Maybe it works better with exchange. I use Kaiten, which is an upgraded/updated version of K9. Another one that I looked at briefly was AquaMail.

The thing is i actually really like the email app on the GS4. I think the layout is nice and the email app is one of the few times i actually feel that the air view feature is really useful. The problem is, is that it is not reliable. I need my emails instantly and the email app is not getting it for me. I just figured out the search problem i was having. If i just change in the settings messages to load from 25 to "total" all of my messages will be there and search is fine. I still wish there is a way to have my emails come instantly rather than every 15 minutes. Aside from the push issue, what else do you dislike about the stock app that the other apps have? The only thing i noticed on the iphone is the push option...

Four major issues are (and there are other minor issues):
- Lack of IMAP IDLE (push)
- When you reply to someones message, the text in their message is reformatted in your reply (font changes and line spacing changes). Looks unprofessional for work email.
- html hyperlinks are sometimes not properly parsed and are unclickable. I get a news service hyperlinks to articles. None of the hyperlinks work on the stock email client. I have to forward the message to gmail or something to click on the hyperlinks.
- emails sent from stock email client do not sync properly and have a different format on my outlook client.
Kaiten has none of these problems. These are not problems with the iphone app either.

plus, to update on the syncing being disabled. I set the sync to on, reboot my phone, opened the mail app and i get the pop up that says sync disabled. I open the settings and the sync option is no longer checked.
Just tried Kaiten...It was downloading so many copies of my emails. It showed each email at least 4 times...uninstalled...
They are correct, the one I looked at was my Outlook.com email address, and my work address. The gmail address shows the same thing as yours.
I guess the news hasn't gotten around fully. Gmail accounts to do not support push with anything other than the native stock android gmail app anymore (since, when exactly, I don't remember. March or April of this year?). In that particular case, it's not the fault of the Samsung email app. No other app besides the official "gmail" app will receive emails by push from a gmail account, and that includes any email applications on any other system from iphone to any other operating system. Blame gmail.
The only thing I miss by using the stock email app is that I can't get it to come up in the combined inbox by default...I have to select it each time which is a bummer.

you think you got it bad, i paid for unlock code on a rogers 1337m and had the push option.
when i inserted a telus sim and and unlocked it, it force reset the phone, force factory reset rather, and now i dont have push.
i also picked up some crappy apps from telus

I have my work email synced to the Note 3. It's an exchange account. However, it does not sync properly. When I view an unread email on my computer, it is not marked unread on my phone, nor does the notification that came with the email go away. When I open the app, however, it all syncs up just fine and shows everything as read. Am I doing something wrong here? My notification tray just keeps piling up with email that I've already read on my computer. Thanks in advance.

I have the same problems with the stock app. It's 50% chance whether or not it syncs. I didn't have that problem with my Droid Bionic that I replaced.
Since I'm a Zimbra user, I just bought Horizon Mail from the Play Store
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.vmware.ewsc.android
It's awesome for Zimbra users because you can search back as far into your email as you need to (ie-an email from last year still on your server) Also, you can check a co-workers schedule before sending meeting invites. Lastly, you can access online files in your Zimbra Briefcase.
FYI - we host with zmailcloud.com but Zimbra is open source if needed

I know this is an old thread, but....
I am a T-Mobile customer trying to help a Verizon Wireless customer get his zMailCloud email working. Everyone in the office on T-Mobile has no issues, but the one VW phone only works when on WiFi. I suspect that Verizon is blocking the ports or the IP addresses of zMailCloud.com but I'll try Horizon Mail if you think it would help. I don't see it in my Play Store and that link you provided does not work for me. Is it because only Verizon customers can get it, or is it a defunct project?

I was disappointed that VMware sold Zimbra & discontinued support for Horizon Mail - it's now gone, but was the closest app to my Zimbra browser based experience.
I now use MailWise

I'm very pleased but it has a few bugs every now & then (it is a beta app) and it does not have direct access to my Zimbra Briefcase.
I have not found any problems that appear to be Verizon related - should work over 4G or wifi.

I have both LG G2 and nexus 5 hooked into my exchange server. The G2 won't display the emails in the correct format, what I mean is they don't show photos, only the words. On the Nexus 5 (and touchdown hd app on G2) they display the email body as if you're seeing it on your desktop. Is the stock email app on the G2 not able to display it normally, or am I not seeing it up correctly?

Not experiencing your problem as our servers are set to deliver attatchments differently, but my mail app is not functioning correctly, period. I can have no problems all day, but once I receive an email, or try to respond, I'll get an error that login or password is wrong. It then won't work for a good 15 minutes. Maybe your issue isn't exchange, but the mail app itself? Do you have other emails set up under the mail app? Any problems?

Hmmm my exchange works great.
The only problem is that it doesn't download the email immediately. When I open an email, there is a button that says "LOAD EMAIL" or something.
Not a big deal but if I'm in a dead zone, it's nice to be able to flip through emails still.
I'm sure it's a setting somewhere.

Figured it out. In the settings for exchange there is a option for HTML or plain text. I had HTML loaded, i changed to plain text and all is better. I still don't know what the difference is, but it worked.
Hey guys, just picked up note 3, with unlocked bootloader. I use emails for work constantly and need them pushed asap. Seems like stock email app doesn't push that often without me doing it manually. Question I have is there a way to get the stock android email app on this guy? If so can someone point me in the right direction
There's quite a few 3rd party email clients on the play store. Here's the one I use:
[email protected] Mail
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.onegravity.k10.free
Just did a quick push speed test with [email protected] Mail vs stock. [email protected] Mail near instant whilst stock was about 5 seconds slower.
Things I like about [email protected] Mail would be:
-faster load times, both mail list and individual emails.
-bettery battery life(YMMV)
- ability to manually sync emails with sync quicksetting off.
-pull down email window. You can read an email and pull down from the top to reveal your mail list. So you don't have to leave the email your reading to see any new mail.
-general speed of the app.
-with push enabled, mail will both push and check manually every 24 mins.
Should mention I'm not affliated to [email protected] in any way. There are other good apps out there, I'm just stoked with what I use.
Cheers
