Hello,
I'm considering getting the N4 on T-mobile by buying it at regular price (no contract with them). I don't have any account with them, I only want the phone.
My question is.. they obligate you to get a prepaid plan? and the phone is factory unlock? (the same as the play store one)
Thanks
There's been multiple threads about this. The phone is same as the Play Store.
You mean to tell me the PlayStore is not shipping to Puerto Rico?
All (GSM) Nexus devices are sold unlocked by default. If you buy it full price you aren't obligated to any contract, its the point of paying full price. However, the last time I tried paying full price at a T-Mobile store they force me to buy a $50 "one-time one-month" service package, which I promptly rejected.
That's what I did. Same as play store. Had to get some kind of plan and their standard prepaid plans were 50/60/70. I wanted to use the $30 Tmo plan and couldn't do that in store so I did pay per day. They required at least a $10 minimum on the daily plans which came out to 3 days of service after which I swapped Sim cards went online and signed up for $30 Tmo

What did you do about your number? Don't you need to be a new customer for the $30 deal?

I bought mine from T-Mobile for the extra hundred so I can get it sooner.

Not sure if this is a deal or not but I purchased a Nexus at Bestbuy yesterday for $99.00. I upgraded one of my phones. The local VZW store had them for $149.00 but they did not have any in stock. This is the second phone I've purchased at Bestbuy and I really like dealing with them. Of course, I don't have my unlimited data plan anymore but that was bound to happen sooner or later. I'll just have to watch my data usage now.
PS. I really like this phone. lol.
bestbuy has good price however i would complain to your carriers customer care i wouldnt give up my unlimited without a fight
I'm assuming this is $99 with a new contract?
Not considered a great deal if you were required to sign a contract for it.
cool :highfive::highfive:
yeah it's $99 with a new contract.
wah wah wahhhhhh.
Try Newegg, its free as a new customer or $49 as an upgrade. They are also throwing in a free dock and $25 gift card.
This might sound like a crazy question but do you need a 4G plan to have a 4G phone?
I got grandfathered into the unlimited 3G plan on Verizon and was just wondering like what's stopping me from buying a Nexus and activating it myself?

From what I understand if you try to upgrade now with a grandfathered unlimited plan they will force you to switch to a metered plan. The only away around it is to buy a non subsidized device at full price.

Alright, cool. That was my plan (paying full price) I was just afraid that after I activated it they'd make me switch to a 4G plan or whatever but I don't plan on going through them to get a new phone anyway
There were never separate 4G plans, its just that around the time most phones started coming with 4G, Verizon was making the switch to metered data. You could buy the HTC Thunderbolt before unlimited data for new customers ended and it was a 4G phone.
Basically if you want an "upgrade" for Verizon. You have to pay full retail price or buy it from someone,if you wanna keep your unlimited data as of the 29th of June. But I heard Verizon will eventually kick everybody off the unlimited plan in a year or two.

Yeah, I'd return it and get your unlimited back. Then call up VZW and ask to keep your plan. I did the sa,me thing with AT&T and they honored my unlimited plan.
Just thought i would pop in and say if you can find a Walmart with them in stock, last time I was at work they were .97¢ for upgrade or new line. So 99$ isn't a great deal

and tell them you want their pay as you go service? If so, how much would it be for anyone thats thinking of going this route or has done it.
isnt that gonna cost you 499 off service (no contract) ?

Thats what I'd like to know. Can it be done and how much? Will they bind you to a contract or can you go monthly on the spot.
You can buy it off contract but they will not put it on a pay as you go service on the spot. Buy the phone say its a gift for someone so they will not force the contract on you. Take the phone out of the box charge it and take it to another t-mobile and tell them you want to buy a pay as you go package. This was advice given to me by a T-Mobile rep
$499 at the local T-Mobile here in Michigan. Do with it what you want then. Played with it yesterday but no rush to get it at that price. My S3 is more than OK until more are available from the Play Store.
Yes. You can get it off contract at TMo but $150 more expensive than the Play Store. No difference for the phone with the Play Store version. You can then get a prepaid/pay-as-you-go activation kit from TMo. If you want the $30 5GB plan though, you'll have to get that one online.
Bought it off contact for 499 at my local tmo yesterday. Only catch was that they insist the phone must be activated in order to leave the store. I was able to get set up with prepaid month to month, but not able to get the $30 online deal.

If you really want the $30, you can still get it online. Just chuck the SIM you got from the store and replace it with the online one.
you can do that but i dont think you will have warranty on it as if you were to buy it with a 2 year contract agreement

I'm surprised anyone was willing to buy it off contract through T-Mobile since it is $150 more expensive than the play store.

Thought about doing that, but wouldn't I lose my number? Isn't it only for new customers?

I surprised myself too, but my old thunderbolt had given up and I just couldn't wait any longer for a new phone.

Have you ported your old number out yet? If you haven't just port it to the $30 plan, and forget about that first prepaid SIM's number. When you activate the $30 plan, there is a step that lets you port an existing number onto the new plan.
If you ported it to that first prepaid number, it gets more complicated. It's extremely difficult to get them to port a number Tmo to Tmo. It'll involve lucking out and finding a CSR who'll do it for you, or transferring the number you want between several carriers to be able to finally port it onto the $30 plan.
Hello there, is there anybody from US that can buy me a no contract N4 from T-mo?
I would pay for that

In what way?
The cost for the Note 3 on AT&T with a 2 year contract is $299.99 + tax + $36 activation fee. (~$360)
A plan with 450 minutes and 3GB data costs $90/mo + taxes/fees.
A plan with 450 minutes and 5GB data costs $110/mo + taxes/fees.
The cost for the Note 3 on T-Mobile with 24 monthly payments is $199.99 + tax (no activation fee: ~$215).
A plan with unlimited everything costs $91/mo + taxes/fees down to $70/mo +taxes/fees after the phone is paid off.
Luckily I have access to a deal with saves $7/mo on the T-Mo every month so it comes down to $84/$63 per month for the unlimited plan.
I have not checked the full retail prices of the devices themselves, but the total costs of the respective services are not even comparable. T-Mobile wins in that department.
T-Mobile Note 2 is $579.99 and AT&T Note 2 is $574.99 full retail price on both
And tmobile has unlimited LTE data plan, if you got LTE coverage then that is a big plus than other companies.
Last month, I download like 100+GB movies just via Tmobile LTE network, even quicker than my wifi network. AT&T? Verizon? Forget it...

I saw $703.99 full retail on t-mobile's preorder page?
Beside, how do you pre-order without also order a plan? I'm on t-mobile prepaid and I don't want to order a plan.

The Note 2 prices is what I posted but, the Note 3 price is $703.99.
Can't you login to your account and put it on per-order?
I still get subsidized upgrades from Verizon on my family shared data plan. Obviously I want the 6P, but I am worried it will never be sold through Verizon (or heavily delayed at the very least).
Can I use my upgrade to get an iPhone for $200 and sell it for like $700 or whatever? And then pick up the 6P from the Play Store and activate that instead?
Yes you can, as long as you are OK with extending your contract
Sent from my P01MA using Tapatalk
Yes you can. If you have a costco member card, purchase it there. Tax is cheaper and the phone is normally 20$ cheaper than the retail store. As for the two year contract, if you have any grandfather plan, Verizon still honors the subsidized upgrades. Just remember the upgrade fee is $40 one time fee.
Also, as long as you have an already activated nano-sim, you should be fine with using the 6P by just switching sim cards. Other than that, you might have a problem activating the 6P because the IMEI is not int he Verizon system.

Fantastic news, thanks guys. Do I have to activate anything? Or unlock/deactivate the iPhone? Also I only have a microSIM but I heard you can mod it to be a nanoSIM.
You can cut the sim down, they have templates on amazon if you want one. But you can also just go into Verizon and get a new sim. The new iPhone should be fine to sell.

So.... any recommendations on how I can sell the iPhone? Will I have to sell at a discount?
Sorry for double post.... I've never sold a phone before... will I have to say it's the Verizon version? or CDMA version?
You would have to say Verizon (CDMA) since their phones are unlocked to any carrier. I'm not sure how much the ip6s are but a simple google search in ebay or craigslist will tell you. I would recommending getting a 64gb verison because it looks like the most popular one sold.
Check swappa easiest way to sell a phone
Sent from my XT1575 using Tapatalk
Swappa is by far the cheapest option for the seller. Just don't be greedy and price it right or you'll be in with the rest of the herd. Ebay will get it sold as well but you'll pay through the rear end with fees. Easily 10% plus the paypal fee. Craigslist is another option but be cautious as that is an easy way to make you a target if you aren't careful.
Has anyone been able to successfully add on any international plan to your existing plans with Verizon? Rep I was chatting with let me know my 6P was not a Verizon supported phone for international plans and that I would have to upgrade in order to take advantage of that.
I've not tried, mostly because it is insanely expensive. I'm going to Europe in June and I plan to use Google fi for that trip. Another option is to buy a local Sim card.

Yeah I could do that. Only reason I wanted to go this route is cause in my head it was the easiest and I wanted to keep it all on one bill. Work is giving me $150 a month to pay for a company phone or add the international option to my existing plan, figured I would just add the $25 option to my plan and let those $150 pay for my entire phone bill.
I forget what the costs are, but I think the $25 only pays for them to turn on the International Plan. Then each MB and minute costs an additional charge, depending on where you are calling and how much data you use (not on wifi) it can add up very quick.
I'm going to India in 2 weeks and also plan to buy a local sim, so much cheaper than Verizon international plans.
