In what way?
The cost for the Note 3 on AT&T with a 2 year contract is $299.99 + tax + $36 activation fee. (~$360)
A plan with 450 minutes and 3GB data costs $90/mo + taxes/fees.
A plan with 450 minutes and 5GB data costs $110/mo + taxes/fees.
The cost for the Note 3 on T-Mobile with 24 monthly payments is $199.99 + tax (no activation fee: ~$215).
A plan with unlimited everything costs $91/mo + taxes/fees down to $70/mo +taxes/fees after the phone is paid off.
Luckily I have access to a deal with saves $7/mo on the T-Mo every month so it comes down to $84/$63 per month for the unlimited plan.
I have not checked the full retail prices of the devices themselves, but the total costs of the respective services are not even comparable. T-Mobile wins in that department.

T-Mobile Note 2 is $579.99 and AT&T Note 2 is $574.99 full retail price on both

And tmobile has unlimited LTE data plan, if you got LTE coverage then that is a big plus than other companies.
Last month, I download like 100+GB movies just via Tmobile LTE network, even quicker than my wifi network. AT&T? Verizon? Forget it...

I saw $703.99 full retail on t-mobile's preorder page?
Beside, how do you pre-order without also order a plan? I'm on t-mobile prepaid and I don't want to order a plan.

Did you lock yourself into a 2 year contract? If so, you can get it, but it'll cost you more.

Did you sign a two yr contract? If so, you still have one more year left. You may be able to get a partial discount (partial subsidized price) on the SGS-2, but that means you are renewing an additional two years on top of the remaining one year. That is 3 yrs.
I sure as hell wouldn't commit to T-Mobile for 3 yrs just to get that phone.
You can buy it at full retail and wouldn't have to sign a contract, but that would cost you obviously more for the phone.
Why don't you check out ebay for the Sensation 4G, you can pick one up for 300 or so without contract. Or wait a few months and SGS-2 will be on ebay for cheap.
Just don't sign another contract, 3 yrs more with T-Mobile is insane, especially since nobody knows what is going to happen to them.
Another option is to cancel your T-Mobile account. Pay the 200 ETF. Then go to At&t and get the SGS-2 for 149.99 (if you shop around).
This comes out to 349.99.
Also, contrary to popular belief, At&t is actually cheaper than T-mobile. If you compare the current contract plans on At&t to the current contract plans on T-Mobile, you get more for your money on At&t (especially if you are on a Family plan). However, if you are on a grandfathered T-Mobile plan then that might not be the case.
Anyways, deffinately don't sign another T-mobile contract, that is crazy right now.
Edit:
According to Archie53 they don't add an additional 2 yrs on your remaining 1 yr, they just renew from that point on for 2 more yrs.
Thanks for the clarification.
They don't add time onto existing contracts, they just restart the two years. The partial discount is pretty much not worth signing a two year contract , your almost better off just paying full price.

What claims?
The part where I said current At&t contract plans (especially family plans) are cheaper than current contract T-Mobile plans?
Just go to At&t and T-mobile compare the plans side by side. At&t comes out cheaper. At&t gives you unlimited calling to Any mobile on any carrier as long as you get family text messaging. I'm on a grandfathered plan with T-mobile, and if I switch to At&t I would save about 30 bucks a month and get unlimited mobile to mobile on any carrier. The only thing I would lose is my 5gb data cap, compared to 2Gb on At&t. That's ok though, I don't even use the full 2GB, I'm always on wifi wherever I go.

First off, you don't need to be rude. I'm pretty sure I'm more educated than you are.
Secondly, why would I get unlimited talk on At&t when At&t offers rollover and free mobile to mobile on any carrier with the purchase of famly text messaging for 30 bucks or individual for 20 bucks.
With At&t rollover and unlimited mobile to mobile TO ANY CARRIER, you can get one of the cheaper At&t minute plans and save a lot of money, yet still basically have unlimited talk. THAT WAS MY POINT.

Yeah you're right bout the rude part. Sorry.
Everyone's family is different and needs for phones are different...your way is fine as long as your family won't call landlines. Mine tends to talk to a variety of connections(mobile and landline/google voice*) So an unlimited makes way more sense for me and mine. With the unlimited Tmobile beats At&t hands down.

Apology accepted.
Ya, both carriers have their pros and cons, and you're right sometimes one is cheaper than the other depending on one's needs.
I knew I forgot something...i put the * on google voice up there because if you're calling to and from GV alot it is considered landlines. Another reason I need the actual unlimited as everyone now has my GV number. Unless you're calling a sprint GV number, then it's a mobile...i think.

Whether he re-ups his T-Mobile contract, or gets a new contract with ATT, he'll be in the same boat. Except he'll probably be paying less on T-Mobile.
If the merger goes through, ATT has to honor all existing customer contracts. If they raise your rates, you get out ETF-free.
Plus since the source just.dropped for the sgs2 it will be rooted soon so that's even better

Nexus III sign up site

Sign up to get Nexus on Tmobile
http://www.samsung.com/us/register/galaxynexus/
I'm hoping this means that it will indeed come to T-Mobile. Wonder if it's just a way for them to see how much interest there is from each network to see if it's worthwhile bringing it to that carrier?
I don't see why they wouldn't bring it to TMo, their last 2 Nexus' did.
...Heck, they damned well BETTER bring it to TMo! I'm looking to upgrade my TMo N1 to TMo N3. TMo still has the cheapest rate plans out there!
I thought the Galaxy Nexus was a pentaband phone so it would work on both AT&T and TMobile's 3g/4g in the US. So there would only be 2 version of it - GSM (AT&T/Tmobile) and the CDMA
well signing up might just increase the chance to get this on Tmo. I would hate to switch to verizon

I believe that is correct, a GSM version that supports AT&T/TMobile has already passed the FCC. I feel certain it will be offered officially by Google, but if not, Negri and other outlets will most certainly have it.

False economy.
The T-Mo non-contact deals are around $20 less per month than the contract ones. That's $480 over 2 years...
I'm wondering if its smart to get a tmobile phone as the carrier might disappear in a short time. Either by att buying them and our 3g bands becoming useless (would you really want to have a nexus that's 2g capable only? ) or by implosion. Also those us us lucky enough to still be on the 10 dollars a month data plan....I don't know it I can justify having to pay $240 more for data every year...

It's not going to just disappear. It will work just as always, and you will be grandfathered in on your plan.
Trying to decide if I should stay with T-mobile
I'm trying to decide if I should switch to the $49/month family plan.
I would save money, but I don't want to commit to T-mobile until the plans for the Galaxy Nexus are announced.
Is Google going to have a US launch for this Device or is a Carrier? Or both.
I am really annoyed at Google for launching the Nexus phone, but not in America.
I might just stay with the Nexus One and not upgrade the phone for another year, it works great.
$49.99 a month, but you're restricted to 200MB of data per month LOL.

Not correct. If you obtain a T-Mobile branded phone, a newer android for instance, T-Mobile will make you upgrade to their new android data plan, no matter where you got it from. This is true for the old t-zones data plan and their web2go plans. So an international version, or an ATT version with tmob frequencies, would be more ideal.
There's a list of allowed phones over on the howardforums... Search for t-zones grandfathered plan.
I'm actually hoping T-Mobile doesn't sell these directly, because any imei of a phone they sell will be logged, and these two specific old data plans won't apply. But those of us with these old data plans are pretty rare.

That is exactly what I did. I paid the full $529 for the N1. With the $20/month savings = $480. The difference between the contract price of the phone $200 and full price = $329. Taking the $480 savings over the 2 years, subtract from $329 and I saved $151. Buying the phone full price was a better value than buying it with a contract. I know it seems like a lot at first but it saves money in the long run.

Buy phone on contract for $200. Cancel the contract and pay the $200 ETF. You then pay $400 total for the phone instead of $530, and still get the $480 savings over 2 years... xD

T-Mobile has new prepaid mbb plans that are decently priced. I've used the Huawei Sonic 4G wifi hotspot and it's worked well.
Those t mobile hotspots are very confusing.
Only differentiating factor I found in those 42mbps router is
1) it's bit bulky due to bigger battery.
2) it has pink t on front and older has white t.
As I am shopping for this hotspots, any place you recommend to get it good price without contract?

I work for t-mobile. The sonic is the best one we carry. We offer plenty of no contract/prepaid plans but if you're gonna do a contract service, the value plan for 5gb is pretty good. If she has a t-mobile phone with the Mifi on the plan, everything could be under $100/month
$60 for Unl Talk and text with 2gb of data for her phone
$29.99 for the 5 gb mifi
$5 for the EIP on her MIFI for 20 months
$95 + tax on contract service for both. Great deal
I Think its 124.99 or 74.99 for the MiFi and you get a 25 dollar mail in rebate to go with that
Thats the plan I would go with, and theres no overages so unless she has any international calls or somehow finds a dead zone and roams, 95 + tax is all she will pay. And depending on where she works, she can get up to 15% off for a corporate discount.
Hope this helps ! :good:

Nexus 4 on tmobile (499$) question

Hello,
I'm considering getting the N4 on T-mobile by buying it at regular price (no contract with them). I don't have any account with them, I only want the phone.
My question is.. they obligate you to get a prepaid plan? and the phone is factory unlock? (the same as the play store one)
Thanks
There's been multiple threads about this. The phone is same as the Play Store.
You mean to tell me the PlayStore is not shipping to Puerto Rico?
All (GSM) Nexus devices are sold unlocked by default. If you buy it full price you aren't obligated to any contract, its the point of paying full price. However, the last time I tried paying full price at a T-Mobile store they force me to buy a $50 "one-time one-month" service package, which I promptly rejected.
That's what I did. Same as play store. Had to get some kind of plan and their standard prepaid plans were 50/60/70. I wanted to use the $30 Tmo plan and couldn't do that in store so I did pay per day. They required at least a $10 minimum on the daily plans which came out to 3 days of service after which I swapped Sim cards went online and signed up for $30 Tmo
