Sprint LTE question - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

i have sprint. does this phone have lte and will i be able to put my sprint service on it as well?

The phone does not have LTE, and even if it did it would not work with your Sprint service. This is a GSM phone, Sprint uses CDMA. Even Sprint LTE phones still use CDMA for calls/texts/3G.

-sort by GSM..any GSM carrier will work with the nexus 4....i am assuming you are US based.

The N4 is an HSPA device. It is not compatible with Verizon or Sprint.

Sprint EVO 4G - Somehow use it in Canada?

I have a EVO 4G from the Google I/O conference, but live in Canada. I obviously can't use it with Sprint. Can I:
flash it to Bell, which uses the same 3G and WiMax bands as Sprint. I don't know how.
put in a SIM (it's not GSM, but maybe there's some way?)
something else...
Ahhh, Looks like you should just sell it to an American like me who can use it right now!!!! LOL. does canada have any CDMA networks? wikidriod would know.
Bell is a CDMA network, with the same bands as Sprint. It even has a 4G WiMax network, which also has the same bands as Sprint's WiMax network.
well, it sounds like you can flash the phone to bell....that would be great for you!
good luck.
(call them and ask...)

Same question here. I really have no idea about CDMA stuff - I only know GSM.

at&t buying tmobile benefits for some

Do you think hd2 owners who have at&t will get to use tmobiles wavelength and finally get more than edge network from this happening??
For reference if new to this subject at&t and tmobile both have an EDGE network on the same wavelength so on an unlocked tmobile hd2 one can use the slow 2g internet connection of at&t, but the 3g networks run off of different bands so an at&t # can't connect to any 3g whatsoever, with at&t's purchase of tmobile wouldn't at&t have to utilize tmobiles 3g wavelength in order to still provide 3g and 3.5g to everyone with tmobile phones that aren't compatible with at&t's current network? If so then I'm personally benefitting from this and finally getting a decent mobile data speed on my tmobile phone with my at&t network
Please don't bash at&t here, I know they suck, I've used their service for quite some time now, I'm just looking for opinions and facts on this matter
and I know euro hd2's already pick up at&t 3g, I'm talking about tmous hardware
From what I have read it seems that in a year or so if this deal is accepted by the FCC at&t will reuse and refit tmobiles network towers/equipment to use there 4g LTE network and give it a boost while removing T-Mobile service altogether causing us T-Mobile 3g/4g users to get new phones that work on AT&T's data network so in your case I highly doubt it there really isn't a benefit for AT&T or T-mobile other then T-Mobile users will be able to have different range of phones (mostly iPhone) I really hope the FCC denies this deal not only does it kills another service provider option limiting us to 3 major companies and forces people escaping the high price of service from sprint, Verizon, and At&t (I've been on them all and left because of price and QOS) but also makes AT&T top dog just because they bought out another company
Yea I read about this yesterday. Highly pissed off. I can't stand at&t. Crappy phone signal, high prices, and crappy customer service. I hope this deal does not go through. Just like when sprint was supposed to buy tmobile. Hopefully it's just a rumor.

Actually I have read that its the exact opposite......AT&T has planned to upgrade all of Tmobiles service towers to the 4G LTE, leaving all T-Mobile Branded 3g phones unable to access

yeah, about 5 minutes after i posted this i saw the article stating that at&t is decommissioning tmobile's 3/3.5g towers to use them for their LTE, too bad at&t is already selling "4g" phones (ie the atrix and the inspire 4g) with no capability of utilizing TRUE 4g via LTE later on... anyone else think at&t will re-release said phones as LTE devices for $50 more than the hspa versions? i cant wait to switch to verizon personally, but im waiting for a htc pyramid compatible with verizons 4g network to switch
I received a letter from tmobile if I wanted to attend a meeting/conference for San Jose, Ca becuase my current phone service will be upgraded.... not removed....
Is this confirmed yet? If so, I am going to be HIGHLY pissed off. I HATE AT&T with a passion and refuse to use their service.
Is it possible to unlock my HD2 and my fiancee's Galaxy S Vibrant to use on Sprint or Verizon?

No, only for gsm networks, which is now going through an approval process to become a single gsm network, not confirmed until the fcc gives the word though so keep your fingers crossed!

No Tmobile and AT&T use sim cards and use totally different frequencies
If the deal passes I highly doubt that the T-mobile name will continue for long. Especially since both carriers operate on the voicestream network. This will combine T-mobile's few towers with ATT's many towers. But as someone mentioned earlier niether of these two have real 4G. It ticks me off when I see comercials calling it 4G. Only verizon is rolling out true 4G in LTE.
And in case you haven't heard. T-mobile was going down hill. They were losing money. There were talks of Sprint buying them at first. So it may be a good thing with ATT buying them up.

Just shooting from the hip hear because someone will be along shortly to put in their 2 cents..
Being that Verizon and Sprint use two different bandwidths I'm going to say it wont work. Its like trying to pick up FM with an AM radio.

Sprint and Verizon's 3G are compatible with each other. That's why Sprint phones can, or used to be able to, roam on Verzion's network...
Sprint and Verizon's 4G networks are not compatible, though.
Sprint and VZW still roam off each other... so the freq's aren't an issue.
I guess it depends on whether or not you upgraded to the 4G radio.
Can it operate on Sprints network? yes, will sprint allow it? probably not. Sprint employees have to let the device work on the network and technically they're not supposed to do that, but if you're good friends with a sprint technician maybe you can talk them into it.

I337M fido/rogers on at&t lte

Hi, I am using an unlocked fido phone on at&t however the LTE isn't connecting... Any suggestions ad to how I can remedy this situation. I do have a LTE plan on at&t and the LTE was working in Canada thru fido.
Do you still have the fido apn? Do you need to change the apn?

No, I'm using the proper at&t apn. I am only having a problem with the LTE connecting, it will only connect HSPA+ or lower not LTE.

I'm on Bell. I also didn't have an LTE connection at first. Apparently Bell didn't properly set up my account to allow a connection to the LTE network. Tech support was able to fix it over the phone.
This is assuming you live in an area covered by LTE.
Yes, I'm in a LTE area, however am still unable to acquire LTE signal through at&t only hspa+ max... called tech support and they were no help, I could tell she didn't even know what she was talking about.. kept saying scripted things. Does anyone on this forum have experience with getting a 337M's LTE to work on at&t

So, i called tech support and they told me because of my imei its a foreign phone and that its showing on their system as non lte capble and because its foreign it will never work so I have to buy one of their phones, they said there is no way to force it...
Ouch... it's hard not to be suspicious that they're just trying to sell you a new phone. HSPA+ is still pretty fast so I don't know if it's worth it just for LTE, but that's up to you.
Got it working. Had to give them an imei of a att branded LTE phone and then when they refreshed everything guess what... Now I have LTE

Motorola Chat Rep says Pure Edition (XT1095) works on Verizon---Screenshot

If this is true I will get the pure edition otherwise Im getting the Verizon version.
It's false.
Definitely false! Verizon uses CDMA. The XT1095 only has GSM radio.

Probably would work but only on 4G.

Definitely won't make calls. I have an XT1095, and tried popping in the SIM from my VZW S3 (after cutting down with a sim cutter--sim confirmed to still work). No data network either. Might be possible by rooting, changing the APN, and then registering the IMEI with Verizon online. Otherwise, nope, the phone won't work on Verizon, even with an activated Verizon sim.

No, it is not possible. XT1095 doesn't have CDMA radio.
Just picked one up from best buy for $269. I see the m8 gold is at 349... Loving these price drops!
No the pure will not work.

It's not the CDMA radio stopping you from getting LTE. CDMA only matters for phone calls, and even that will be passed out with VoLTE. The XT1095 supports most of Verizon's LTE bands, so in principle data service is possible. The way Verizon has their data network set up, though, it is not currently possible due the need for specific services to be activated on the network, and good luck convincing Verizon to activate a non-Verizon phone.

I never said that it would stop you from getting LTE. However, if you are on Verizon, you need CDMA radios for your phone to work reliably as a phone. LOTS of places around my town have spotty Verizon LTE signals. Where I grocery shop, at the mall, inside my favorite restaurant - I drop down to 3G.
This is a common problem for many of us on Verizon's network as Verizon's network was constructed for the 850mHz CDMA to work well in terms of tower spacing. The spacing b/t Verizon's towers by and large is too far apart for LTE coverage to be great everywhere.
You are going off on a tangent - you can't have decent phone service on Verizon and not have a CDMA radio even if you could get the phone activated. And Verizon ABSOLUTELY WILL NOT WHITELIST A PHONE THAT DOES NOT HAVE A CDMA RADIO. WON'T HAPPEN SO IT IS RIDICULOUS TO EVEN SPECULATE ABOUT IT. And no whitelisted IMEI means no authentication to the Verizon network and no VoLTE/HD Calling. You could use the Hangouts dialer but you couldn't place an HD call through Verizon's VoLTE service.
