I337M fido/rogers on at&t lte - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshootin

Hi, I am using an unlocked fido phone on at&t however the LTE isn't connecting... Any suggestions ad to how I can remedy this situation. I do have a LTE plan on at&t and the LTE was working in Canada thru fido.

Do you still have the fido apn? Do you need to change the apn?

No, I'm using the proper at&t apn. I am only having a problem with the LTE connecting, it will only connect HSPA+ or lower not LTE.

I'm on Bell. I also didn't have an LTE connection at first. Apparently Bell didn't properly set up my account to allow a connection to the LTE network. Tech support was able to fix it over the phone.
This is assuming you live in an area covered by LTE.

Yes, I'm in a LTE area, however am still unable to acquire LTE signal through at&t only hspa+ max... called tech support and they were no help, I could tell she didn't even know what she was talking about.. kept saying scripted things. Does anyone on this forum have experience with getting a 337M's LTE to work on at&t

So, i called tech support and they told me because of my imei its a foreign phone and that its showing on their system as non lte capble and because its foreign it will never work so I have to buy one of their phones, they said there is no way to force it...

Ouch... it's hard not to be suspicious that they're just trying to sell you a new phone. HSPA+ is still pretty fast so I don't know if it's worth it just for LTE, but that's up to you.

Got it working. Had to give them an imei of a att branded LTE phone and then when they refreshed everything guess what... Now I have LTE

[Q] unable to get 3G internet speed on mobile network

Hi, im in Jamaica, using my HTC MyTouch 4 G but unfortunately my phone refuse to connect to more than EDGE speed on any of the mobile network, it is unlocked & therefore able to use any SIM but no matter which networks i connect to this phone refuse to go any faster than edge. Today I tried my SIM in another phone which is an Iphone 3G, and it instantly picked up 3G speed so it prove that the problem is with my phone & not the networks, can anybody give some advice? My internet settings are all correct & entered by the technicians at all the respectful phone companies
Did you do factory restore settings.. or just factory reset the whole phone..ooh are you on Android 2.1 or 2.3. Also go to network mode and see if its not on GSM only.

the mytouch 4g and all other tmobile phones will only have 3g/4g on tmobile networks. this is because the bands that the mytouch 4g and other tmobile devices have are different from most of the world's. so unless another carrier has the same bands as tmobile, 1700/2100/AWS, EDGE will be the fastest you get. the iPhone 3G is capable of 3G because it's band is the same as most of the world's carriers network bands for 3G: 850 / 1900 / 2100.
this doesn't have anything to do with factory resetting the phone or whatever. it is simply hardware.
hope this sheds some light for you.

The reason it worked in the iPhone is that T-Mobile and att use different 3g bands and the hardware in those phones is only setup to work on those bands. Before you buy a phone, unlocked you should find out what bands your local networks use.

Just some semantics: "most of the world" uses 2100 band, which makes MT4G compatible with most existing networks in Europe and around the world. Americas (both North and South), on the other hand, happen to use mostly 850 and 1900 bands, uncommon in the rest of the world, which are indeed incompatible with MT4G.
Am still confused.. even some people and parts of the united states people still fall on or can't get pass edge..anyway...

As long as you don't have a compatible-band cellular tower of your carrier in vicinity, you won't get 3G. Not all cellular towers support 3G.
And if your carrier's band(s) aren't compatible, then you never get 3G.

thanks so so much to everyone who took time out to answer my question, i am no more happier than when i asked my question unfortunately but i am so much wiser and now with more knowledge, lol , i know now what i need to do, get rid of the phone and get myself a more compatible phone...unless there is a way to manipulate or change the network factory/hardware settings in the phone???...any ideas?
Nope. Some phones are restricted to certain bands by software (radio build), but unfortunately this restriction seems to be in HW.

With some God like skills you may be able to remove the HW antenna from a T-Mobile phone and replace the one in this phone. While I would not suggest it. I didn't want to tell you there was NO way to do it.
I hope someone in this thread can answer the same kinda question for me, but in a different way. Right now I'm in the United States on Simple Mobile's 40$ 3G Plan, but I noticed on my MyTouch 4G (Running the latest RoyalGinger) that I am connected at 4G speeds, however shouldn't my indicator for Data/internet connector on the phone read off as 3G instead of 4G? When i ran a bandwidth test on my phone from DSL Reports Mobile Speed Test, I got the following from a 100k file.
124 kbit/sec
0.287s latency
6.72s d/l time
Is that how fast 3G usually is? or should I be going faster? Thanks to anyone who can help.

i9505G - Google Edition on AT&T -- LTE Working?

The title almost says it all.
Anybody out there with the Google edition running on AT&T have LTE speeds working?
Here in the Atlanta metro area, we are supposed to have LTE on AT&T, but the phone HSPA connects with only about 1Mb down and 0.1Mb up speed tests
How do we make sure the phone is ready to work on AT&T LTE? AT&T rep says "check settings" ..... ummmmmmm she probably has an iPhone.
Does your current data plan actually support LTE? Have you had an LTE phone previously?
It usually only comes down to 2 things.
1) APN settings. You can verify by going to Settings (she was right, sort of), More (under Wireless & Networks), then Mobile Networks and APNs. You should be using one named AT&T LTE with an APN name of just "phone".
2) Make sure your data plan specifically says 4G LTE for Smartphones. If it doesn't say LTE, you need to get AT&T to change it.
I've used this app in the past on AOSP roms and such, and it works great.

That's a load of ****. Did you call or go to a store? I suggest going to a store. And if you can, make sure its a proper corporate store (and not a random reseller or something).
Mine works fine on T-Mobile LTE. As understand at&t and T-Mobile use the same AWS technology for LTE, just different spectrum.

Did you just swap your sim from one phone to another?
I am curious because on another forum LTE is not working.
Your phone has the LTE icon in the status bar?
thanks
Had the same issue yesterday when I received the phone. Spent an hour at the att store swapping Sim cards, changing imei numbers and trying different apns. Finally did a factory reset and it worked. We felt stupid. Not sure if thats the case with yours but give it a try.
EDIT
Also came across another thread with the same issue and another person said they had to change the IMEI on the account to a demo model. We also did the same with mine just before the reset. Here's the quoted text.
Solved. I went to the ATT store copied down the IMEI of a demo LTE phone. Called support, gave them the IMEI and that allowed them to add an LTE plan.

Thanks everybody for the replies.
We tried all sorts of APN settings, but there seems to be a larger issue here causing problems on many or all Google Edition S4 phones on AT&T's network, and that is the IMEI numbers of these Google Edition phones register with AT&T as not supporting LTE and therefore AT&T's data plan doesn't have LTE enabled for those devices. Many owners of Google Edition phones are having this issue, and are solving it by getting the IMEI number in the system to register as a demo with slightly different numbers. Not all people with Google Edition phones are having this issue, because they are just using a SIM card from a previous AT&T phone that was already properly registered with LTE capabilities.
Seems like AT&T just isn't ready for these new Google Edition phones, and the customer service reps are not usually tech. savvy enough to figure this out.
I might add that I myself am on the T-Mobile network (this post was for my friend on AT&T), and I generally get LTE speeds in excess of 30Mb down and 20Mb up here at work where I get 3 out of 4 bars of signal. In the AT&T store nearby, I got 2/4 bars signal and my speed tests still beat the pants off the demo model AT&T had, which got 3/4 bars signal. I say this because I am paying only $100/month for unlimited everything on TWO 4GLTE phones with T-Mobile, while my wife was paying $120/month for the same with AT&T for only ONE phone. The way AT&T garners exclusive deals on phone model variants that we should all be able to purchase and jacks up the prices of service to double that of the competitors, it's time for people to jump ship and force them to become more competitive.

I'm in the same boat. My previous phone (Galaxy Nexus) was not LTE-capable, so after getting a new SIM card for my new i9505g, it's only connecting at HSPA speed. Online chat with AT&T rep wasn't very fruitful. They are saying that the phone is showing up as "unrecognized device" and is causing the issue, and there's nothing they can do about that.
I am about to take a trip to an actual store to see if they have more knowledgeable staff there. Any tips or tricks (or super-secret handshakes) I should know about while talking to them?

Yeah put your sim in an LTE capable att device, have them add the imei and you'll get the LTE plan. You should be good after that. Othwerwise, have them add a dummy imei or one from a display phone. Good luck at the store as this will probably blow their mind.:good:

finally got LTE on AT&T
Hey all! I have been scouring the internet trying to get my LTE to work for the past two days I have used every APN I could find as well as downloaded ther notification toggle app to try to enable LTE.
at one point I did have a LTE data plan but I guess not anymore...
anyways I went on the my att.com account and I somehow got to two different technical support chat windows. The first time I gave him my real IMEI# from my I9505G and he couldn't add the LTE plan because it was not recognized as an ATT phone. I then got a friends ATT phone she is no longer using that has/had LTE on it and after telling me it didn't work, then finally on the third time using 'technical support' she didn't ask for any IMEI number at all just told me it worked.
(I think it was the live chat I found on the support section of my AT&T or something) I am only mentioning this because of the three times I was on live chat I got one texct survey this morning (I was on live chat last night 3x)
I gave all 1's out of 10 (worst possible) but mentioned the chat person was friendly and that I was just unhappy with AT&T.
AT&T then called me this afternoon about the survey and asked if I wanted them to fix the issue..... Was this a real question?
I said yes and now I have LTE working great using the default phone APN that was on the phone from the factory.
Hope this helps some ATT users!!!

I'm using N910C on AT&T. LTE works, at least where I'm at (Ohio). It works out of the box for me while others say they have to call AT&T to have them provision your account with new IMEI.
Anyone else using this phone on att? All of the negative reviews on amazon are people claiming that they dont get lte with this version.

Decided to go with T Mobile Note 4, Easier to sell if it does not work with LTE.

So I have had it for a couple weeks. At first I was disappointed to learn that I did not have LTE. My download speed seemed low, the icon only showed 4G, and "LTE Discovery" showed LTE, but no band. I spent a couple hours on the phone with AT&T troubleshooting, went to a corporate store to get a new sim, and nothing worked.
HOWEVER, I put my phone into service mode at my house. You enter service mode by entering "*#0011#" into your phone dialer. Once in here, it said that I was connected to LTE band 17. So I went to another city praying that band 4 would be there, because then both LTE bands would be confirmed. Boom band 4 shows up in service mode, too.
So after quite a while of testing, I can confirm LTE connectivity for AT&T on the N910C for both band 17 and 4. I also learned that I was speed testing during prime time hours. So my tower was congested, and that was why the speeds were low. The icon didn't show, because there doesn't seem to be an LTE icon in the system.
On the topic of the N910U, though, I was pretty sure that it was a 3G only device. I may be wrong, and will look into it.
UPDATE: From what I have found, the N910U supports the following bands: 1,2,3,4,5,7,8,28. AT&T uses 4 and 17. So the device only has 1 of 2 LTE bands. So theoretically, you could connect to LTE in a band 4 area, but I also found some reports on XDA of AT&T's towers only handing down HSPA+ even in those areas. You can join that discussion HERE. Hope this helps.

4G LTE Confirmed Working AT&T

Got this up and running after some delays.
Basically just use the APN settings from their site...
http://www.att.com/esupport/article.jsp?sid=KB424489&cv=820
When using the IMEI that shipped with the phone it put it under a basic phone plan.. (No VVM, no LTE). What I did was just use the IMEI from my old Galaxy S3 and 4G kicked on.
THIS WILL NOT SHOW LTE IN THE BAR BUT RATHER AS SIMPLY 4G.
CHEERS!:good::good::good:
Download lte discovery and see what band you are using please. Mine gets it on band 2 (1900) but that is it.
Band 2 is what it is here as well... Luckily i live in a place that has it.
4G LTE 2600(7) Not Working
Last week I went to Taiwan and get a ZenFone 2 (ZE551ML) 2GB, the firmware for Taiwan doesn't support this band, I downloaded the latest WW firmware, but no luck, any Idea?
So weird, it seems to have worked. Even though the settings are identical to what I had initially.
Losing hope here in Tucson AZ. All I can manage is a measly "H+" symbol and my speeds are a spotty 4mb down to .500 mb speeds... Is there any way to check what frequency the towers are in my area? I suspect we in the old pueblo only have the older ATT speeds for the frequency supported. (SIGH)

AT&T is a pain to get working with it. At first, I popped in my Sim card straight from my Note 4, no luck. So I called AT&T and added the IMEI. Still no luck and found out they reprovisioned my SIM card for HSPA+ only. I popped my SIM back into my Note 4, it only showed 4G/HSPA+ and not LTE. Called AT&T to have them swap the IMEI back to the Note 4 and got LTE on my Note 4 Then swapped the SIM back into the ZF2 and I got 4G (LTE).

Correct. I now have a Zenfone 2 US version. My old ST SIM that used att.mvno still had zero LTE. I moved to a new ST SIM that uses tfdata and I now have LTE on band 17.
Any thoughts on how to get activated and working LTE working on my ZE511ML as a new customer with no previous GSM IMEI? I may be able to get a SIM from someone else but it doesn't sound like that's enough.
I had this problem with AT&T as well. AT&T will drop you to HSPA once you register your ZF2's IMEI with a new SIM cos their system doesn't recognize our ZF2 (or any unlocked device that they themselves do not sell) as an LTE device.
I went to the nearest AT&T store and got it sorted by telling the rep to delete my ZF2's IMEI and give me a new SIM.
If you're signing up for new service with them, tell them you don't have the phone with you and to just give you a micro SIM.

I just got my ZF2 today and tried my ST SIM it shows 4G. I was wondering what speed you guys getting in 4G AT&T I am in Northern KY area on band 17
MY ST sim in Iowa shows 4G and uses lte band 4 ( according to LTE Discovery ). Speedtest shows: 124ms, 17.3 Mbps down, 7.36 Mbps up.
So any workarounds with this? I have LTE and I'm picking up band 17, but only getting 4Mbps down. I like this phone a lot, but if I can't get LTE speeds it is basically useless.
I got 4 ZF2's and all of them work with LTE At&T. All I did was call a rep and told her the APN that she was giving me (nxtgenphone) was nto going to work for my phone and that I needed her to force the LTE plan. She forwarded that to an IT rep and everything worked. They will need your IMEI numbers to set it up.

Ok, well, on her verizon branded unlocked note 2 she can get HSPA speeds with her sim, but with the note 4 that's unlocked, she hasn't seen above the edge network, and her signal is garbage. APN settings are what they should be, tried a few different variations, and nothing. Bought a Verizon 4G LTE sim from straight talk for her, before I realized it was 3G only and only assumed it would help. But would it help? Both ATT and Verizon get LTE coverage in the area, or what can I do to fix my signal? Oh yeah, and I can't send or receive pictures...ugh. HELP
*apparently she can now receive pictures, but still can't send them

Try changing the modem, i should help, cheers:fingers-crossed:
I almost purchased the 910H myself but luckily found out it doesn't support LTE before pulling the trigger. If you can still return it, get the 910C model instead. It supports LTE for both AT&T & T-Mobile.
I'm using my 910C on Straight Talk AT&T ATM.

So, just tried the only 2 other modems I could find for my N910H running KitKat, and signal is no different. Any more ideas?
update
Ok, so playing around with some of the settings in more networks, mobile networks I changed the network mode from gsm only to wcdma/gsm (auto connect) and data speeds are NOW where they should be, which is 3G, and with a full signal got 8MB down speed, so, that's good. Now the question becomes why can i receive pictures and not send them. Actually managed to get a couple to go through, but no clue how or why they went through.
