I got scammed on Ebay over an Xperia Play - Xperia Play General

So guys, I got scammed on ebay this week.
I saw a listing for a Xperia play for 40 dollars and I've needed one ever since my phone got eaten by my dog.
I took a chance and spent the money on it.
The seller told me in the listing that the phone was fully functional.
Skip ahead today and I got the phone.
Right away I could tell it was going to have problems. The USB jack was totally screwed up.
I've never seen one this bad actually. Anyways I get home and sure enough the phone wont charge or anything.
I put a new battery in it, and the phone wont even boot up.
So at this point I'm getting pretty upset.
I contact the guy on Ebay and tell him, "Listen this device is broken. I want a refund. Not only is the USB jack broken., but the motherboard is also bricked". Mind you, this was after he listed it as fully functional.
So he tries to refund me 15$. I told him no way, I'm not paying that much for a busted Xperia.
I told him, I'll take a 25$ refund and leave good feedback if you do it.
So he refunds me the cash and I started taking this thing apart since I'm going to be keeping it now.
Right away I see we have a problem.
The WATER INDICATOR, is clearly been soaked and red.
So not only was the USB jack fried but also the phones been dropped in water and the motherboard is bricked.
The only part I could salvage out of the phone was the LCD screen and digitizer.
It would be ok, except my motherboard has a bad USB jack too. and I cant repair it because I don't have surface mount solder repair station at my house.
If I ask a company to surface mount a new USB port onto the phone, they will ask for 50$ or more, and I can't afford it.
So if any of you nice people have a broken phone with a good motherboard, let me know. I can pay up to 25$ for the motherboard.
Until then I might not be able to do any developing. I don't have USB access and that's a major problem.
Thanks for reading and let me know.

Just to let everyone know I'm serious about repairing this thing.
Here is a recent picture of all the parts I have around my house.
I actually have some more but their not in these pictures.

You definitely shouldn't have had to put up with that. If the listing was covered under eBay Buyer Protection, you should contact eBay. The dude clearly listed the phone incorrectly. What a jerk.

Yeah you're saying it nice.
He actually lied big time because the listing said it was fully functional.
Not only was it water damaged but the board is bricked.
I hooked the test points up to my computer and the motherboard is throwing up a brick code. one that I know isn't repairable by anyone on this board. (the BIOS is corrupted and now it's 100% locked)
He knew for a fact that this phone was garbage,. I don't know why he lied tho.
The guy has really decent feedbacks.
Like 500 sales and 99.8% score.
Anyways we settled outside of ebay with the refund thing.
I didn't want to totally pay nothing, since the screen was salvaged off the unit.
But yeah., It was a really scummy thing to do.

I have some better news to report.
I have a semi-decent motherboard now.
The USB pins are messed up but atleast its making a connection.
Alejandrissimo @XDA used his SETOOL program remotely and helped me recover the board that was stuck in zeus mode.
Long story short. I'll be able to update the rom after all.
I still need to get ahold of a better Mobo tho, so If anyone is selling a spare, let me know.

I can send you some parts just for the cost of shipping, but I don't know if you can do anything with it.
The motherboard work, but it can't detect sim card anymore. It still have an IMEI number. It has a strange behavior that if the battery is not drained yet and the phone is on, it can charge that battery. But if you leave the battery in the phone, whether the phone is on or off, overnight the battery will be drained completely. Then it is impossible to charge the battery even if you connect it to the charger, unless you put the battery into a different Play, or possibly buy an external charger. It can still connect to the PC for flashing and fastboot, etc. I also notice it have problem booting into stock firmware unless it is powered on by the charger. However, it boot fine into custom roms from battery power.
Other things that doesn't work: Digitizer, Start and Home button (both of these can be easily remapped in the keylayout file). The problem is to flash roms most CWM version require the Home button. There is one CWM version that use the Search button however. Also the main cable is kind of worn, but still working. R button a bit unresponsive, unless you don't screw it in at all then it clicks perfectly.
The only usable thing I can do it it right now is to charge the battery externally and use the gamepad to navigate and play games without touchscreen. I do not think the sim slot is damaged, it might need some kind of reprogram. Other things I confirm working: screen, camera, speakers.

No, the last version Verizon update the R800x to officially is 2.3.4. Otherwise you will have to install other custom roms.
I run the R800x with stock 2.3.4 rooted, I just use LBE Security Manager to freeze apps and disable them autostarting.

Hey, I was wondering where the seller was located? I recently sold an Xperia Play and when I sold it the buyer said that his son previously had one and jumped into a pool with it which is why he was buying mine... I'm very curious if this is the same person. The time of him buying a new one and you buying yours seem to match as well.

What could be wrong with my G1?

Alright, I baught my G1 from a friend off Craigslist and I got it unlocked so I could use my g1 with AT&T. The phone was great for a few weeks. Now it just randomly turns off, it sometimes restarts but most of the time I have to take the battery out and put it back in.
I did a google search about it and read a few things but their situation isn't exactly like mine.
When it turns off and stays off (wont respond to On Button) there is a red light near the speaker that is just constantly on and wont turn off, even when the phone is unresponsive.
I use a generic USB plug to charge my G1 from my PC.
My phone has root abilitys but I had this problem before I enabled root.
Does this on all versions RC29 to the Current Cupcake
Do I need to send the phone to HTC?
Do I need to get a new Battery?
Can I buy the battery retail or from only HTC?
Will HTC service my phone even though I got it off CL?
This phone was purchased around Sept last year (when the owner orginally had it)
EDIT: Phone turned off again, started with the T-Mobile logo. I shut the slider so its closed and it turned off. Will not turn back on.
I tried a little bit close to 30 times now and no response.
Thank you in advanced for the help and replies.

Nope, no water damage and no drops that I could think of.
probably a few minor ones but nothing such as a serious drop (onto concrete or floor)
Unroot and flash back to the original ROM, then contact HTC. They will cover it under warranty...all you pay is shipping it to Houston.
I cannot turn on my G1, to unroot it.
I was pretty sure having a rooted phone didn't void the warranty anyways?
Rooting your phone doesn't void the warranty
It sounds like you have water damage.
Thats weird, How could I have water damage if I was so anal about not getting it wet or even bringing it into the bathroom with me =S
Is there any other reason for this malfunction that fits other then water damage?
Will they still fix it if signs point towards WD?
Personally I don't think it could be water damage since I'm always in dry areas with it and I don't even use it when I'm eating or in the bathroom.
but who knows =/
The way to tell if there is water damage is there is a small sticker on the inside by the battery and another one on the battery. If it still looks like its red and white (may look pink) then you straight it shouldn't be water damage.

Its black with white letters, the same it has always been. So its not WD.
On the battery its a red mesh with white, I'm not sure if it means water damage because I'm a bit confused about your last post. I licked the end of this battery before I went to bed to see if it held a charge and it does.
So the phone's sticker says no WD and the Battery has a red mesh of red over white but not a thick red line in the center.

Your right its not water damage. As long as you see the red mesh that means its straight. And my bad wasn't tryna be confusing its to early and not enough coffee.
Haha I know exactly how you feel on that one, i have to go to Red Rock Casino today and its going to be really depressing not bringing my G1 rofl.
What could this be?
It use to shut off on me randomly but never permanently like now.
I read online that this happened to someone else and he waited some hours and put in his battery and it started back up but so far nothing has happened when I put it in this morning.
Is there a major defect in the G1s that cause them to do this or is my situation a "How in the hell could that happen " kind of thing.
If you have a second battery try that if not I would say maybe go by a t mobile store or any other store that sells batteries for it and possibly try a different battery. Maybe there could be a connection problem for charging, but then again that may not be the problem. Last month my phone took the slightest fall and never turned back on and I know I've dropped my phone much harder than that. If you had t mobile then I would say go to the store and have them replace saying your going out of town and really need it. When mine broke I just took it to the store and they replaced it there so no need to use the warranty and wait on the mail man.

I'm on live chat with T-Mobile and they told me to contact AT&T and I gave them hell. I hope I get this resolved today or my phone magically starts working for no known reason.
I'm not much of a gambler ironically enough, I was born and raised here in Las Vegas rofl.
EDIT: I contacted HTC and they say having root access is hacking the phone and installing illegal software and they wont RMA it.
So I told them go ahead and just forget because I have root. The phone wont charge or anything.
aagggghhhhh you shouldn't have told them you gained root or modified it at all. Did you give them any info, or can you call back and try again?

I didn't tell them they told me that in order to do an RMA I need to have phone that wasn't damaged physically and a phone without any illegal software on it. So I asked them if having root was illegal (after reading constantly online that it wouldn't void the warranty) they said yes.
It would cost me an extra hundred dollars to have them fix it if they find out it was rooted.
Edit: The Hundred dollars would be billed to a credit card that I have to supply when RMAing. I don't have a credit card. I think their a waste but now I need one.

Clean the DUST out from under the Screen! UPDATED W/ PICS

For those who are/have/and still experiencing specs of dust underneath the touchscreen....
... I will endeavor on a journey using iFixIt.com's Nexus One Teardown Guide. There will be no need to document me taking apart the device, however, I will be taking pictures of the dust, the location of the leak, me cleaning the device, and an attempt to seal the leak. I bought the essential tools from ifixit.com: Phillips #00 Screwdriver, T4 Torx Screwdriver, iPod Opening Tools. This came out to a total of $12.85. I then used a $5.00 coupon code (11221FIXIT) bringing me down to $7.85. There is no sales tax unless you live in CA. Shipping was $3.17.
Long story short - I was tired of looking at the dust, tired of the HTC folks say "sorry, you voided your warranty" and "sorry, we only send you a refurbished device, not your own or a new one". So, I spent the $11 and I'm going to fix it on my own. WISH ME LUCK.

*******UPDATE*******
Alright folks - I took the time out of my day to open my Nexus One and clean off the dust underneath the screen. I took pictures. Here is my assessment after completing this daunting task.
PROS
-NO MORE DUST!!!!!!
-NOOOOOOOOOOOOO MORE DUSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSST!!!!
CONS
-Takes a lot of time (2.5 hours)
-There is now a smear on the bottom of the screen now - it can only be seen in direct sunlight
-Putting it back together is an ASS-PAIN. Such a pain in fact, by the time I was finished there were still 2 screws left, and 3 weird rubbery pieces that I left out.
The phone is back together and in excellent working shape
All in all, only do this if you have the amount of dust under your screen like I did. I am happy with the results but I think I want a BRAND NEW PHONE. Oh well.. Enjoy the pics.

Good luck, can't wait to hear what you find. Can you take pictures pre-doing this all? Specifically of the dust build up?
Ok, most important thing to do. Make sure you are in a clean room! Maybe even a Clean Room. Otherwise you will end up putting more dust in than you take out. Cheapest way is to run a hot shower and let the place fog up and then settle to get the dust out of the air. But probably not a good thing to open your phone while it is still fully fogged up as you'll get condensation inside it

Yes, of course I'll take pictures of the dust BEFORE I disassemble the device. And then I'll take the AFTER pictures when it's reassembled.

Awesome tip! Thanks.
yeah i cant stress enough to make sure you do this in a claean environment. i tried doing this with my nokia e71, and i never could get the screen lcd clean no matter what i tried! as i put it back together, little particles would just gravitate to it no matter what. i would wipe and try to quickly put it together, more dust. tried again, more dust. over and over.
here at work we have cleanrooms at a extremely high rating. if only i could use them to disassemble my smartphone.

if you get a nexus just press down on the bottom by the capacitive buttons. If the screen creaks or feels like it gives just follow what Uansari1 did and heat it with a hair dryer for a few seconds from like 5in. away and the press firmly around the screen. It will help to reseal.
oaky thanks ill keep that in mind
so its a pretty common problem then?
it was for the launch nexus', im sure (hopefully) they have it all sorted out by now.

i dont think it was a common problem at all. but then i have seen threads with many people havng this issue. so far my nexus has not had this issue at all and its over 3 months old. so i dont know. but i DO know that if you look in the iphone forums, dust under the screen threads are all over there too. even windows mobile forums have the same threads. so it seems like its a problem with most touch screen phones.

They put a $500+ hold on your credit card. They won't tell you that you will lose that money if you've unlocked your bootloader. My guess is, they're hoping you've voided your warranty, sent in an unlocked phone, and now they keep the money. I also asked them how much it would cost to repair it... They estimated $179. BULL****.. I KNOW.

Nah. Theres alredy a big thread about this. They do put a $530 hold on your CC. But the hold is gone once they receive the phone. If they WANT to charge you the its usually a $28 repair fee or you have a choice of sending back the replacement phone.

If it's any consolation, I've had my replacement N1 since the 3rd week it was out... as someone said, as soon as I got it, I heated it up and pressed firmly all around the screen to make sure it was tightly sealed. It's still dust free today.

I have been selling a couple a week at the cell phone store I work for, and haven't seen this on a single one of those. I would say all in all, I have sold about 20 Nexus One now.
Personally, I think the issue goes back to these shipping out during January during the coldest period of the winter, even having freezing temps all the way into Texas... I suspect that that phones got cold enough that through contraction and added brittleness of the adhesive in a cold state, the seal broke.

Battery cover shows gaps

Hi everyone,
I just received my Atrix. Yes I'm back to using this beast. I have a question regarding the battery cover. On the side where it has the usb and HDMI ports the battery door closes fine and does not show any gaps. On the volume rocker side I notice there are gaps and I can see parts of the inside of the phone. I have tried several times to make sure every piece is snapped on properly but I still see the gaps. The last few tries, I pressed on it pretty hard and the gaps aren't as bad but it's still noticable. Is this a common issue with the Atrix battery cover? What should I do? I bought the Atrix brand new and shipping it back to the States is a real pain. I don't like using a case when I'm at home.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks
no? my cover locks well all the way around.
Mine resides in a skin tight case 100% of the time. But, I do not have gaps either. Mine seals tight all the way around
No gaps on mine, and it's a wonder there isn't as many times as the cover has been removed for a battery pull.

Hmm, now you got me thinking it could be refurbished. There is a tiny scratch on the screen. It's only noticable when viewing a plain white screen. I did file a complaint to the retailer and they claim it's brand new. They said they could refund me 10% of the retail price. They're trying to avoid exchanging the phone because it's coming from the States. It came with the retail box. Could it be the battery door? I wonder if switching battery doors would resolve the issue.
Try calling Motorola and see if they have it in their system as having been warranty returned and then re-issued or anything.

Thanks. I'll try to call Motorola and see what they say.
BTW, do you have the AT&T version of the Atrix? If so, are you able to uninstall the AT&T apps without rooting the phone?

You will need root and best to then just freeze them with TiBu if I remember correctly. Been so long since I had to worry about AT&T bloat with custom ROM's.

Darn. It looks like I'll have to exchange my current Atrix for an AT&T version. The one I have now is with SUTEL and there's no bloatware in this version.
I don't want to root the phone once I get it exchanged until I know everything is working fine.
Is there a chance for you to post pics of your issue? I am just curious what it looks like and I am sure others are too. It could become a reference for someone else.

I asked my brother and he said it won't show up. He's into cameras and knows if certain pics will show up or not. I can ask him again. He has a high end DSLR. It is noticable in person.
I have owned over 100 cellphones. I know how to put a battery door on. Especially with my experience with Sony Ericsson's horrifc battery door issues a few years ago. I have tried many many times with the Atrix's battery door and it still shows the little gaps. The gaps are bad enough that it will collect dust inside the phone. Also on each corner of the phone, the battery door is not even.

If the gap doesn't show up with a "high end DSLR", then... is it even noticeable? I know i can use the macro setting on my t2i and it would show great detail.
Also, over 100 phones? Surely, you jest.

Yes it is noticable. It's hard to capture it because it's a black phone. If it was a white phone, it would show up. I had a different issue with a white phone and taking pics of it was not an issue.

My little sister just took that with her $80 point and shoot. There's... enough detail in that to be able to see the non-existent gap on my phone... so one would think a bigger gap would be more noticeable and even more apparent.
And... a camera that's worth at least 10 times more than hers would definitely be able to capture more detail, i would think.
So that's why i'm questioning whether it's even really a gap or just a picayune detail you picked out (say like the small gap you can see around our screen glass and the frame of the phone).

Sounds like a lighting problem. Any semi decent camera will show a gap in black on black easily if you get the lighting right. "High end camera owner" doesn't necessarily mean "knows what he is doing", and with a comment like "knows if certain pics will show up or not" I would say he doesn't really know photography.
Pics here were just taken with a colleagues iPhone 4. On the last pic I pulled the battery cover a wee bit. You can clearly see the whole area in all pics:

Samsung sg4 melted/burned while charging overnight

Update below:
Hey Guys,
i had a bad sleep last night, and that was actually good for once.
I woke up in the middle of night and wanted to check my phone. the screen was black and insanly hot. I took out the charger and thought it just needed to cool down. then 10 minutes later i checked the phone again, and it was still really hot. i took out the battery as well and continued to sleep. Then early morning I was scared i would miss the alarm, i inserted the battery again and wanted to attach the cover, but there was something wierd with the bottom exterior. i turned on the light and instantly woke up a 100%.
The bottom had melted and deformed and the charger tip was black.
It seems I was lucky waking up at the very right time before the device would have further heaten up and potentially caught fire...
I hope the dealer can easily replace the device as I am moving between countries. I already called samsung, but it seems the lady i was talking with was rather unwilling to help and directed me solely to the dealer...

Update: Samsung replaced the headset, supposedly to do further research on the issue.
im still frightened to charge it overnight, especially if you have it close to your bed at night! But anyways, im happy to have a new SGS4 in my hands!
If battery/charger was factory original that comes with the device, you can ask refund or replacement since its defective product.. most aftermarket ones are fake (even labeled as genuine) and have no overcharge protection so this might happen. I hope it is resolved well.

Hows the battery
A friend of mines S4 used to overheat to a point where it was untouchable. The motherboard and battery were replaced because the battery had started overheating and expanding. How is your battery looking?
Radukk: it was the original charger that came with the product. So if this is the sole limitation for a return, then I should be covered.
I have actually been thinking about this as i recieved a terrible slow secondary charger from phonehouse. the phonehouse charger used 8 hours to charge 50%, so since then I have only used the original in case anything happened.
Gilani7: i couldnt spot any bulks or any other sign that the battery has expanded.
The battery still holds charge and I can use it normal, after 4-5 hours use it has 77% charge left. But anyhow i need a new phone as it doesnt look good and neither is it practical to charge the battery externally.

Coordinate with your dealer to have your handset replaced, but at the same time do everything you can to catch Samsung's attention. E-mail them, call them again (customer service via hotlines suck, as they outsource that sort of thing to third world countries like the Philippines and India, so most representatives when it comes to serious problems like that, they will turn you away and not help you), and write to the CEO if it's necessary. Since both battery and charger are original, warranty should cover your phone.
There have been reports this July of Samsung Galaxy devices exploding and melting... The charger thing you experienced was experienced by a another woman just this month, and on the same unit. She had problems when she approached the dealer for a replacement so she filed a complaint with Samsung and they helped her get a new S4.
I hope I don't experience this... I have a tendency to leave my phone charging overnight, and I'm planning to get the S4 in two months. :S
Last accident was caused by non original battery.

i just went to the dealer (Phonehouse) it was not that pleasent. The guy behind the desk was nice enough, but he said they needed to send it in to samsung, And from his experienced this couldnt be repaired (not a big bomb) and Samsung would neither replace it. He said it was totally up to Samsung.
The stupid thing is that Im leaving Spain in 10 days and i have no time to go back and pick up the phone...
I dont think i will have the time and the resources to sue them, but if they wont replace it then u will be the first one to know. Secondly comes the press.
Im never gonna sleep "with" my samsung phone charging again...
It is not a first time with similar problems in smartphones. In this case, as there is no visible damages to the battery, I am suspecting that USB plug was not fitted in socket correctly, and electric contact was not perfect or there was some dirt on contacts (and some series resistance caused additional heat dissipated during high current charging process).
I am not saying that it is user’s fault. Not. Problem is that micro USB port (enforced by some eco bureaucrats as charging standard) design is not so great for currents up to 2A.
Samsung should put additional temp sensor chip (not only sensor alone, but supervising chip, independent from OS running fine or not, which would be able to shutdown phone) very close to the USB socket.
Safety regulators should enforce such requirements and respective certification tests. Many vendors sometimes demonstrates their scratch tests, endurance testing, super duper audio bits, camera test etc. but I never heard about advertising of safety/temperature/fire tests...
My advice to you is to take high quality high resolution photos (better then these on dropbox) of battery, charger and cable, before you ship phone to the Samsung. Just in case, to avoid to hear next month, that it is your fault because you used fake/unauthorized battery/charger/cable.
See it on the bright side, at least you got a hot night.

If those in 3rd world countries suck, and knowing that multinationals do their homework, why do you think that they still outsource? One would say they are either nuts to throw away their hard earned name or they are just trying to save a buck. Assuming it to be the latter, would it not be better to say the MNCs suck and or that they are greedy rather than accuse someone who is trying to help ... someone that MAY BE disconnected from reality as they either have no clue what's happening in the other world or have no power to sort out the problem (as in this case where the help desk guy Philippines and/ or India would have no authority to approve a replacement).
diamond 2 owner: sadly i have sent it in already, so these are all the pics I got.
Yeah it could be as u say some dirt that had gotten in. but it doesnt seem right as i have had sgs2 for 2 years and never had any issues. and i was abusing that phone and the charger.
I thought they had a charging temp sensor on the sgs4, not only the battery. Mostly because it was such a powerful charger...

No, but customer service in first world countries is much better, as call center agents in first world countries are better trained. I'm from the Philippines with friends who have previously worked for call centers. They kept telling me that they were being scolded by their supervisor for having longer calls than 3 minutes, as they were trying to really help the customers resolve their problem, and unfortunately, the prepared script couldn't solve those particular customers' problems.
You immediately jumped to conclusions and raged at me. Stop it. You don't even know who I am and immediately you assumed I was discriminating. Am I supposed to say that customer service in countries like the Philippines and India is top notch when I know for myself it's not? There are a lot of factors to that, but that's not what I'm pointing out, isn't it? What are you going to accuse me of next?
If you bothered to Google my location, you'd KNOW it's from the Philippines. Who's disconnected from reality now?

I don't see why you'll generalize the entire situation to your call center friends. Do they work for Sammy? But the fact that you keep on complaining about the services our nation can bring (I know it's crappy), then why not move out?
So let us all now assume that customer hotlines suck 0 hahahaha it is always better if you complain personally in their service centers (especially to the main offices)

Hey, where about in the world are you living ?
Is it extremely hot weather over there ??
I bet this issue could be corrected by using the onboard temperature sensor to stop charging as a precaution when the phone itself is over heating and can lead to disaster like this one. Ah,.. those pics don't look too good to me ...seems like the connector is bad or something shorted over the connecting surface, did it actually plug-in quite well or was it loose ?
I'm living in Spain, Barcelona, the weather during the day can reach 30 degrees, but i wouldnt call it extremely hot weather, and the weather was quite pleasent during the night it burned, maybe 20 degrees in the room.
it plugged in as usual, not like the virgin-first time stiffness, but not any bending or loose contact neither, i didnt have any issues with charging connecter as i had with my previous phone.

How to get Samsung to fix the Blue Screen issue for your ATT SM-P907a

After sending my tablet (SM-P907AZKAATT) into Samsung repair 3 times they have finally fixed the issue of the Blue Screen of Death (BSOD). The issue is caused by the motherboard as most of us know or suspect. They don't call it a motherboard though. They call it a PBA which means Printed Board Assembly. Typically the PBA would literally mean a blank circut board but in this case they are referring the the entire board; I seriously doubt they are moving all the components to a new board, LOL. As I said, this was the third time I sent the tablet to Samsung to be repaired but this time I uploaded a picture for them to reference and I told them not to send it back until they have replicated the screen. I also told them exactly what the issue was as I had the first two times; I understand that they can't take my word for it and just repair what I want repaired but it gives them a suspect, at least in their mind.
I have attached the picture I used. If you can't snap a pic before the blue screen is gone on your tablet just use mine.
I think that's about it but I will answer any questions you may have.

Just an update. No blue screen since being repaired. This is the fix...
People are still looking for a fix... Consider making this sticky.
I support this. I used this method. I've not had a blue screen yet.
How do you get in contact with someone to make this sticky? I have PM'ed several moderators and no one has gotten back with me. I've been trying for weeks. The only reason I've been so persistent is that people are still looking around for a fix for this and this is the solution. I would appreciate if some could point me in the right direction. Thank you.
It has been 4 months since this repair. Still no BSOD. Once again I'm asking the administration to make this sticky because there are many people still looking for a solution. Can someone help me with this?

I just meant for Samsung not to send the tablet back until they were able to see the BSOD for themselves.
That makes no sense. If they can see your tablet get the bsod that means it's still faulty. I must be missing something lol!

Samsung fixed mine!
I'm adding my name as a successfully fixed case; bought a used AT&T Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 off of Amazon, and it was having the bluescreen issues. Unfortunately I noticed this after I had already rooted the device so I could take the resolution out of kindergarten mode; but, I took a picture of the bluescreen and wrote a quick note that I included with the device when I shipped it in for warranty service indicating that I'd read online a faulty PBA was the cause; received it back in a couple of weeks, and not a problem since. Re-rooted and good to go, thanks for the tip!

That's awesome to hear. You're welcome.
The Solution & The Problem of the Note Pro Bluescreen
----------------------------------------------------------------
THE TRUE ISSUE - THE TRUE ISSUE - THE TRUE ISSUE -
----------------------------------------------------------------
This is a language barrier / communications issue with the support staff. I did a live chat and I should have included a picture of the blue screen but instead I meticulously explained what the problem is and that probably failed still because when i checked the repair status they showed LCD display issues. So i called them up while they still had the tablet in their possession and before they looked at it and specified over the phone to correct the description of the problem they have annotated in their database. I explained all the same stuff about the issue and how it is a known defect in the AT&T variant of the 12.2" Galaxy Tab and that it has even garnered it's own name (borrowed from Windows): BSOD or Blue Screen Of Death online. When I sent it in they had the wrong issue labelled in their database: bad LCD/ Display issue.
----------------------------------------------------------------
- THE FIX - THE FIX - THE FIX - THE FIX - THE FIX -
----------------------------------------------------------------
Contact support and get your device replaced. It is a defect in the hardware and will be fixed free of charge. Include a picture of the BSOD so that they know what the issue is that they are fixing. I used live chat for the initial contact. Phone support is probably better. Also you could try hanging up or starting another live chat if you see you are dealing with an idiot or someone who has just recently learned English.
Note: They erased & updated my tablet to lollipop 5.1.1 probably in their troubleshooting process. I haven't been able to re-root my device since they updated it to 5.1.1.

(THE TRUE TECHNICAL ISSUE)
----------------------------------------------------------------
I will try to update this in a bit. For now here is what I know:
I got mine fixed right after I bought the Samsung Tab 12.2" SM-P907A off of eBay with an unadvertised BSOD issue . The issue is caused by something wrong with the PCB (Printed Circuit Board) or motherboard or as OP described the vernacular they use: PBA (Printed Board Assembly). Whatever you want to call it there is something wrong with the mainboard on the AT&T version of the 12.2" Tab S (SM-P907A). Someone (I want to say from Samsung but I cant remember for sure who it was) told me it was related to the battery, I believe it isn't wired to the motherboard well enough and when the system demands too much power and the battery cannon provide it properly through those leads then that is when it BSODs. This would make sense since it happens usually when you are heavily taxing the system, i.e.: playing a game. I installed some heavy 3D graphics games on mine when i first got it to see if I could insight a BSOD and sure enough it happened in no time. I noticed it normally wouldn't do it while sitting in stand by, but often would be insight into blue screening as soon as I started using it. I have shot some decent videos of both ways the BSOD manifests itself. I will edit this post when I locate the videos I took and take a moment to upload them. When I received my Tab back they noted that it was power related and included a new usb cable along with a letter saying to not use the old cord as the problem was power related and they fear that using the original cable may damage the tablet again. They only sent the cable, not the AC adapter and ironically my AC adapter although I never felt it get extremely hot (remember I got this slightly used off of eBay so it may happened before I had it) but the electrical prongs that plug into the wall are actually out of position and under closer inspection you will see they have moved because the plastic actually melted a bit where the prongs come out of the AC adapter. So now I am chatting with live chat again just to get a new adapter. ^ ^ ^ SEE THE TRUE ISSUE AT THE TOP OF THIS POST ^ ^ ^ Have fun with your chats with these ESOL ****tards they have manning the support desks. I will post a couple of mine as I cracked some good jokes...

That makes no sense. If they can see your tablet get the bsod that means it's still faulty. I must be missing something lol!

See my last post in this thread it tries to clarify. The help desk staff suck at english and do not relay the problem properly to the technicians who actually fix it and they don't sit there playing with your tablet until an error manifests itself. See my post please.
Well I got screwed. Sent mine in for service, it was supposedly fixed. A few months later I get blue screen and flickers that lead to a restart. Now it's not under warranty and Samsung won't do squat. Biggest waste of money. This version has so many issues you can't even trade it in for value anywhere. All the carrier trade ins have it valued under $50. Best Buy doesn't even list it. Had a perfectly working wifi version and sold it for this and have had nothing but issues. And to add insult to injury, Samsung sent it back to me locked when I bought it unlocked. Never even had a chance to use it on tmobile.

When i upgrade my P907a to lollipop, it never has BSD
Just an update... Not a single BSOD in almost a year.
Still want to make this sticky but I've long lost hope on that.
