hello everyone
Today I noticed my x10 creaks when using the bottom three buttons and sometimes the touchscreen. I bought the phone brand new from carrier 2 days ago, does anyone else experience this? its nothing TOO serious, just quite annoying for someone with OCD like myself. What should I do?

It is a plastic-ey phone, with many components, so there will be some creaking.. Don't think you can do anything about it, sorry

does yours do the same?
My buttons don't make any noise. If you even hear the noise when pressing on the screen, maybe the back cover isn't fitted correctly?

Thats what I mean, its' not the buttons that make noise, but the back cover I believe.. when pressure is applied. I checked to make sure it is fitted correctly and it is. Also I believe there is a slight creaking on the front panel as well. Is this normal?
Yup, mine makes a noise too, but its not noticeable unless you're listening for it

No that's not normal. If it's only the back cover, maybe it's bend because you applied too much pressure when pulling it off. But if the front also creaks then there's something wrong. mine doesn't make creaking noises at all.
hmm. thanks to both of you for your responses. I don't know, I am getting 2 different answers. I wish I had another X10 to compare

I have 2 X10s, they both make the same noise
Its not such a big problem really... you get used to it after a while
Or maybe its just a problem with Canadian X10s
Mine creaks too now, but that's after about 5 months of heavy to semi heavy use.

I kno what you mean, but I had iphone before and the thing was as solid as a rock. With the X10, I apply pressure I can feel some 'give' as if i am pressing the panels together, which creates the slight creaking noise. I dont even know if I could describe it as creaking, its very minor but still noticeable
When I had the black x10a it creak for me when I pressed the back button. After a few days I bought the x10I to have 3g on tmobile and it doesn't creak. Maybe its the x10a only?

Hey, yeh mine creaks too, its more so the side pressure of the hand squeezing the sides when in yur palm, than the force down of the buttons. Im not very satisfied with the elcheapo effect of the back cover, lol. I too was an iphone user, solid rock, but i love my x10a!
Thanks to everyone, I guess it's semi-normal, I wish it wouldnt make any noises because it makes it feel cheap
Creeking here aswell and it is actually the battery making the noice since its probably has got a tiny bit deformed in 8 months of pocket riding it is able to move somewhat in it's compartment. Everything else is solid.
And i have to really stress it to make it creek, nothing really bothering.

^Thats a good point. Last night I was sitting on the couch and couldn't remember where I put my x10 down. I stood up and realized I was sitting on it. Not a big deal considering its a pretty cushy couch but I probably squished the battery together a bit.
I think only white ones make noise my black x10i is very solid

I know 4 people who also have the xperia x10, never heard them complaining about creaking. Never heard it either. We all have the black x10i.
Somebody here said something about a deformed battery, that could be true indeed. Lithium polymer battery's have no plastic case, they can be bend or deformed. It could be the reason your x10 makes creaking noises.
You could buy another back cover from ebay, they're not expensive.

Actually i did return 4 phones already, dead pixel, loose back cover ( tried a different one same thing so exchanged), next one light leak on screen edge, and another one with what appeared to be dust under screen or underneeth the protector. Dont think i want to go trhough all this again and get another faulty one, like someone said all devices have some imperfections its just to get somthing that you can live with, i think this is not so bad esspecially if most Arcs have it.

Yeah, I had two Arcs, both had the same problem. Everyone told me their screen was completely flush so I exchanged the first. I googled a bit and didn't find a single picture of the Arc were the corner is not raised, so I guess most Arcs are like this.
Mine was flush, but now the top sticks up a couple of mm. My finger keeps getting caught on the screen protector.
this maybe a really silly reason, but i think it maybe due to the 3.5mm keadphone jack present there and they didnt design it properly???
Yeah, I guess it could not be glued properly with the jack beneath it. It's a very nice looking phone, but they definitely had to cut some corners because of the design...
So my front facing camera has so much crud behind the glass I cant even use it. My phone is in perfect shape and ATT says its not covered under warranty.
Anyone else have this problem?
it happens, if you're comfortable taking apart your phone you can clean it i guess. it's because there isn't a proper guard inside the speaker (you can take a look at it, it's just a hole in the screen; particles of dust slide into it with ease)

Try using compressed air to blow out the dust particles. It usually works.
If you do get it cleaned out an Otterbox or some other case like it will reduce the chance of getting dust in it again. To be completely honest the Atrix's front camera sucks pretty bad, compare it to several other phones ffc side by side in the same light and you will see how horrible it looks. In low light you might as well not even bother, while other phones in low light dont have the same prob. Anytime I vid chat I have to sit in the one chair in the room with a standing lamp and aim it on myself otherwise it looks like ****.

If you use compressed air, make sure the air quality is very good, with no moisture/water in the line.
there was a known issue a while back cant remember when, but if you have a certain type of screen cover was doing is other wise if its under the corning g. glass you will have to find a way to remove it which im assuming is glued on clean the under side and put back on i would assume

Call Motorola. Then you can send it in to them and they fix should fix it. Because you have a 1 year motor warranty, not AT&T warranty.

Afternoon all,
So yeah I'm loving this phone greatly, but I've noticed something horrible for a phone so well made.
If anyway else owns one can you please check if your headset has a tiny gap ( Im really do mean tiny gap) between the front metal casing and
the cream looking plastic band around the phone. So were the headjack and on switch is . . . .
I noticed it last night and if I press the back and front together the gap closes.
After speaking to P4U they said no one else has rang in with such problem and they said they would exchange it wen more arrive in stock.
I ended up going in store were I discover they ave one there but is a pre ordered handset. The guy did open it up and checked both handsets.
They new one did also have a tiny gap but not as bad?
Bit shocked as I havent really used the phone alot as Im still using my S3 till I pay my contract off.
Anyone else got this?7
Cheers
Re: HTC One Owners check it out!
I have read somewhere 2 weeks ago it is a problem for some demo set. But seems it existing on retail phone now. Also I heard iphone5 has such problem but people think it acceptable.
So maybe other users can give their view.
And you would better to have a clear photo upload others can judge.

Re: HTC One Owners check it out!
I got mine today, have looked but not used the phone yet. On both the top and bottom, I can squeeze and a hairline gap will come together, but I don't think this is a problem really. It is negligible and it probably won't have any impact at all, the phone still seems premium and solid in the hand, and it is not like they advertise it as being waterproof or anything in which case this would be an issue.

This gap may be engineered to provide for thermal expansion differences between glass and aluminum
Definitely looks like a defect to me. Lint, dust, water etc could all get in there very easily and cause problems down the line. I'd get it replaced.

My mates htc one had zero gap all the way around.
Yeah I maybe abit paranoid on this matter. After seeing the other newly opened htc one and seeing that also had a little gap then I though maybe
its just the way its made. I will see hopefully thursday if more come into stock.
Re: HTC One Owners check it out!
If I'm looking at the same thing is u on top of the phone theres a very very small gap between the metal casing and plastic filler.
Can't see I'm bothered about a gap of 0.25mm though. I don't think I'd ever want a replacement.

I can definitely confirm such behavior in my One X, it expands a little from heat
but by design? i don't know, HTC promised zero gap didn't they?
Thread title is misleading: please change it.
If you notice, the flap tapers almost to a point posteriorly, almost like a tear drop shape
So the tris to get an edge if a fingernail, no matter how short into the back (posterior) left gap and it opens easily.
It's much harder anteriorly (front) because the flap is much thicker versus the back

Judging from its design, I think that is how it was intended to be opened as analyzed by Samsung.

If you are using the left back side then the flap is not properly closed/placed. You should not be able to open the flip using the left back because it is the hinge of the flap and the hinge should go all the way in. Water-resistant feature of the device is reduced with this.

You don't know the difference between front and back and top and bottom. Look at the closed flap itself and tell us that you are seeing its "back". You're too confused in identifying the orientation of the object. Maybe you have a superpower that you can see the back when you are looking at its front?

Because you are too smart to point out your presumed "correct" orientation.
If you hold the phone and look directly at the flap, then top and bottom come into play when describing the orientation of the charging flap
However, if you are looking directly at the screen (which is the point of view I am talking about), The top would then indicate where the speaker grill is and the bottom would indicate where the home button is

Eyecon is right on in his description of the orientation....

anyways, thanks for the tip, i always tried prying mine open from the front left instead of the back left which caused difficulties.

Yes captain obvious. I don't think anyone is opening it at the side where the hinge is.
But what isn't as obvious is opening from back end or front end. I was always trying from the front end of the left hinge and always had issues.
Opening it from the back end as eyecon suggested seems to work much better.
Now I can toss my paperclip I kept on the dresser that I was using to open it
