So my front facing camera has so much crud behind the glass I cant even use it. My phone is in perfect shape and ATT says its not covered under warranty.
Anyone else have this problem?
it happens, if you're comfortable taking apart your phone you can clean it i guess. it's because there isn't a proper guard inside the speaker (you can take a look at it, it's just a hole in the screen; particles of dust slide into it with ease)

Try using compressed air to blow out the dust particles. It usually works.
If you do get it cleaned out an Otterbox or some other case like it will reduce the chance of getting dust in it again. To be completely honest the Atrix's front camera sucks pretty bad, compare it to several other phones ffc side by side in the same light and you will see how horrible it looks. In low light you might as well not even bother, while other phones in low light dont have the same prob. Anytime I vid chat I have to sit in the one chair in the room with a standing lamp and aim it on myself otherwise it looks like ****.

If you use compressed air, make sure the air quality is very good, with no moisture/water in the line.
there was a known issue a while back cant remember when, but if you have a certain type of screen cover was doing is other wise if its under the corning g. glass you will have to find a way to remove it which im assuming is glued on clean the under side and put back on i would assume

i guess i have low standards for a camera, but mine is just fine for my needs. i only use it to have a video call to my family back in Georgia, otherwise i have no use for it. and it works perfectly for that.

Call Motorola. Then you can send it in to them and they fix should fix it. Because you have a 1 year motor warranty, not AT&T warranty.

The only downside is that it comes with a little magnetic ring you have to stick onto your camera. It's nice in that it will help protect your camera but it does make it stick out a little further and it seems like something you could lose very easily.
niiice, i love those fly shots!
can we get some pictures of it on your evo? or a video of how well it stays on?
Very Nice
Wow...that was awesome. Thanks for sharing.
I thoroughly enjoyed that.

I'll try to take some pictures tonight. The little magnetic washer seems to stay on pretty well but it's not completely solid. The magnet in the speaker is enough to pull on it and is constantly moving it just slightly. It's on there securely enough that I don't think it will fall off easily but if it got caught on my pocket or something it might not last long. If it doesn't bother me after a while I may glue it on there permanently.
The lens itself magnetizes like a champ. I think the magnetism is stronger then the glue so you have to sort of slide it off to avoid pulling the washer off rather than just yanking it away from the phone.
So I just but my s4 today from sprint. I f****** love this thing. But on the rear camera it looks like there's this film covering the lens. Kinda like the film you peel off the front screen and whatnot. Actually that's what I thought it was so I tried peeling it off (not hard), but that shiz wasn't coming off. I've shot some pics and I think they look fine. I can push on the 'film' and it will move around a little bit. It looks like there are little nics and scrapes (barely noticeable) around the edge of the camera, but idk if that's from the manufacturing process or what. Does anyone else have this on their s4? If not, I wonder if I have a faulty device. I've included some pictures, taken from the front camera on my nexus 7 (which was difficult to do) so you know what I'm talking about. Any feedback is appreciated!! Best phone I've ever owned, and I haven't even rooted it yet!

Ok thanks guys. Haha I must sound like a moron. This is my first really nice smartphone. So im kinda in love right now, and dont want to hurt my precious s4
I know how you feel, a few other threads on the same subject as yours have come up, that film is hella hard to get off.. took me 10 mins lol, was so scared I'd wreck something.. but it's deff supposed to come off. there's also film on the sides of the phone I didn't notice till day 2, anyways back to camera, yeah remind that shiz!

Yep, you can remove it, took me a while to, but it began annoy me as part of it was up, so I eventually took it off.
I took off this lense protector last night. It took me 5 minutes lol Now it looks much better.
Thought I was the only one wondering about this , thanks guys.
I just noticed when taking a picture with a beige background that I have a sort of smudge looking spot.
I cleaned of the lens area and visually it is spotless. There aren't any scratches either.
Is this a defect or does everyone else see this as well?
See the attached picture. The smudge is in the left.
I never noticed it before as it's faint enough to not show up against darker backgrounds.
I definately do not have something like that, so most likely faulty camera, the best way would be to exchange the phone.

It just looks like they might of had a spec of dust or something go in when they put the phone together. I would take it back and ask for a replacement, if they argue saying they dont see it then complain. If not and they are being fuddy duddies, either do it yourself (if you know what you are doing) or water damage it and send it off for insurance (I know, I know, not a good thing to do) but... if they are incapable of being decent, then you have to do what you have to do.
Good luck. I love my photography, and that would get on my tits. lol

Iv got exactly the same issue with my camera. It looks identical to yours but I have it in the top left corner. Not sure if it's worth exchanging for a new one just because it might be branded and SIM locked this time.

Well when I take a picture in portrait mode like yours is, they're actually pretty close in position. Mine appears more in the top center than yours does though.
The first picture was landscape.
A bit more than a coincidence?? Not the end of the world but I certainly don't expect that from a flag ship device. Think I'll wait until I get a scratch on the screen or something before I go for this exchange.

Question,
My G2 today dropped in silicon flip case on it's back (thanks god, as it was with flip open).
Drop was from about 1.2-1.5 metters....
Phone kept working after the drop..
Anything to worry about it's internals? or from such drop nothing should happen?
Its flip case with basic silicon cover while its back is silicon cover + the flip plate.
GOOSPERY case:

Thoughts?
Thanks!
The screen will USUALLY break before interments break... So if it's all working, don't worry

If you hear strange rattling noises coming from your phone a little while from now, it may indicate that the OIS module has come loose.
But otherwise, you should be absolutely fine.

No strange noise... whats chance for ois loose from a fall down?
Tnx
I got a replacement phone from ATT and it must have had a bad OIS because that thing clicked and clicked when trying to focus and would never actually gain focus, needless to say I didn't accept it.

LG really didnt pass G2 via intensive Quality Check Control and Stress Test...?
Isnt "World's Best Phone" should go via this procedure?
I'm not sure whether any other people have had this but it seems like there could be a fault with some of the camera on some devices (or just mine?).
I preordered and received my z2 on the 22nd april, my sister just bought one today and I was comparing the two - it definitely seems like the new one captures photos far better where sunlight is concerned, it looks like there's an area of haze/overexposure on my one - I've attached photos to illustrate.
The ones with the i's on the end of the file name are with my z2, the ones without are with the new one - both were taken with superior auto from almost exactly the same position and at the same time with exactly the same settings and both on the same firmware.
Also does anyone else's device creak when you push a little on the back just above the sony logo?
I've had the creaking from day one and hasn't affected the waterproofing or anything so I was just going to live with it, but now I've noticed the camera thing I'm going to try and get an exchange.

I was hoping it was something trivial as that but unfortunately not, I made sure the lens the clean - used a microfibre cloth etc even checked the lens for scratches and it's clean. I had a screen protector on the back and took that off to make sure it wasn't somehow distorting the light into the lens but it didn't make a difference.
May I ask whether you have any creaking on your device?

maybe your camera is experiencing light leakage. definitely a problem
That's the kind of photos I got when water entered my Xperia Z.
Have you been washing it ?
It might be moisture built up, but can't say
Why not get it replaced?
Sent from my C6602 using XDA Free mobile app
It took a dunking last week lol but I can't see any moisture build up on the inside of the lens, maybe it is just light leakage. I'll just phone up for an exchange tomorrow - shame really because it had no other issues. Great phone though, looks like they've sorted out any other issues on the current batches.
Cheers for all your replies!
The creaking is what makes me think your device wasn't manufactured that good. Mine is as solid as a piece of metal. The camera doesn't have the haziness either so phone it in for a replacement because it shouldn't be a big problem to get a new one.
If you could slide out the "plastic paper" beside your sd slot and see what it says it would probably point us on when your phone was manufactured - should be something like "14W1*" where * stands for the week number

Yeah I was thinking the same thing, my sisters z2 doesn't creak either. Mine says 14W15 so I guess that means it was one of the first batches (maybe second batch?)
Hopefully the replacement won't have any issues, I'm slightly concerned about dead pixels etc
Interesting to see your photos, I have the same problem with mine.
I'll have to see if I can get it replaced I guess.

Somebody pointed out in another thread, this haze can be caused by a case, especially if you are using flash.
In my case, I have a clear gel case which could easily cause light to reflect into the lens area.
Will test properly tomorrow.

That's interesting, kinda like the flash bleed issues on z1 compacts I read about I guess.
Although in this case I wasn't using the flash on either of the Z2's and they were both naked, even took the screen protector off the back of the phones to make sure it wasn't being caused by those (I had cut a square out of them for the flash/lens already though) and there was no change - one Z2 looked fine, the other not so much.
Thing is if my sister hadn't picked up a Z2 of her own I'd never have known, I just thought this was normal behaviour - at least the thread has made others aware of a possible problem (if mine wasn't just a one off)
I got my replacement Z2, and it creaks A LOT. It's W19, it's going back to the store tomorrow. My first one has bad speaker quality (W28). If I get a third, I'm returning and I'm going to another phone. I shouldn't have to go through 3 Z2s to get a decent one, but if my third one has something wrong, I'm done. Sony has a GORGEOUS phone and an awesome build, but I can't stand this anymore. Last one tomorrow, and we'll see.
looks like one of them has HDR enabled. check that. is there any condensation on the lens?

Hey,i have the exact same creaking issue!I thought i was the only one.I took it to the Service Center and the guy at the counter acknowledged the issue and said ill get a replacement and removed my sim card and memory card etc and only then i realized they cant provide a standby phone so i said ill come back later and submit the phone for replacement.
Later the SONY Store where i bought the phone from provided me a standby phone and they itself submitted my Z2 to the service center but few days later they returned the phone saying there isn't any issue :X i took it up with their customer care and they asked me to go to the service center again but i haven't got the time yet.
My batch number is 14W18,what is yours?
I checked some test pieces at the SONY Store and they had a similar issue but i checked again at another store and they seemed fine -_-

I have the same flash bleed issue on all the cases including the OEM ones provided by SONY.
ew..i have the creaking issue too.. its creaking when i put my finger below the flash...
I'm having the same issue as well. Every picture I take now, especially in brighter conditions, is hazy and somewhat blurry. I never tried my phone under water, but I can see something that wasn't there before. If I angle the phone, I can see that behind the back lens there is something like a smudge (similar to when the lens is dirty, but on the inside). Is it dried water from condensation or what? I talked to Sony centre via chat and they told me to send it to them. Problem is, the issue is too minor to be seen. I don't want to be told that it's fine and to pay for my phone to be sent back.
What did you guys end up doing? It's a shame. Pictures used to look beautiful. Now, even in good light, there' all mediocre and washed out.
Edit: I actually tried it in water while hot, it condensed and then it cleared up. Looking at it again, it seems that this haze comes from another layer of the cover lens. But it's not like a scratch, it's more like a badly applied screen protector, with air bubbles in it. I attached a picture of it, if anyone has any idea what it could be.
