they didn't update their post, but they confirmed it like 5 times now.
So what is your point
Do you really believe a device that didn't even get ICS will get Jellybean? Don't get your hopes up.

Xperias from 2011 are capable of handling jb well.jb is ics with gb smoothness.google said that.and just sign it.it wont hurt or kill you

"is ics". The reason that we (Xperia Play owners) didn't get ICS is that the games won't work properly. I am sure they won't work for Jellybean, if they wouldn't even work in ICS.
But to make you happy, I signed it.
hi guys, i just came across the news about updating Xperia phone 2011 to JB. Unfortunately, Xperia phones batch 2011 wont be having the JB update.

Seriously.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1944996
Why do you want Jelly Bean so much? The best improvement in these updates (ICS and JB) is that the memory for system and user is shared, but in the XPeria Play there's already a division in both partitions, so if the Xplay got updated it wouldnt get this feature. And as this a lot of more things that we wouldn't get even if we get the update. The system has to be made with this new version in mind for enjoying completely ICS or JB, and the XPeria Play isn't.
What The Hell Xperia J
Saying The Xperia 2011 Phones More The Xperia Play Are Not Good Enough To Run JB is so stupid Because The Xperia J Has A slower Proccesser Not As Good As Good As Graphics Not as good as camera The only thing it has better is the internal Memory what the hell is going on with sony
As u can see, SONY is not BOTHERED to make a software for their "old" Xperia PLAY.
And they want to support their "newer" and "sh*ter" devices

Just my opinion: I wouldn't jump ship on an OS just because Sony couldn't make it work. I have an XPlay for personal use and a iPhone4 for work. I would gladly go back to my old Eris before making the iPhone my main device. If you're really hurting for something ICS-ish, unlock it and slap on a new ROM.

Info suggesting no 2011 Xperias would get Jelly Bean was given "in error."
In a statement on its official product blog, Sony has reassured Xperia smartphone owners that it's still in the process of investigating which of its devices will receive updates to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. The statement follows earlier reports, originating from one the company's own Facebook pages that 2011 Xperia handsets like the Xperia Arc and Xperia Mini Pro would not be getting updated.
The manufacturer said --
"During a Q&A session last week on our Sony Mobile GB Facebook page, a local spokesperson gave information out in error on our Android 4.1 Jelly Bean software development and rollout for 2011 Xperia smartphones.
"We are actively investigating Android OS upgrades for all devices, but in the meantime, our Ice Cream Sandwich rollout for Xperia S and 2011 Xperia smartphones continues as planned."

I think that too ,JB is not a major update just a few performance tweaks here and there.
Maybe its just a marketing strategy to make people buy Sony phones and then in the end moment they'll disregard the 2011 devices.

Sony(Ericsson) Did not disregard their customers from updates, Sony is one of manufacturers who's really into updating their Portfolio to the latest Android versions, look at their Update History compared to any manufacturers
2010
X8/X10mini: 1.6 > 2.1.1
X10: 1.6 > 2.1.1 > 2.3.2
2011
Xperia/Live: 2.3.2 > 2.3.3 > 2.3.4 > 4.0.3 > 4.0.4 > 4.1(?)
2012
Xperia: 2.3.7 > 4.0.4 > 4.1(?)
Right now, 2011 Xperia is one of the most updated Android Phones out there, and I believe they can be updated to 4.1
Awsome PR!!

My nexus S got 2x faster and smoother with jelly bean. My mums arc S on ICS is faster than nexus S on ICS but not the nexus S on JB. That tells you how significant a thing jelly bean is it is designed to make every phone smoother not just the high end ones. If nexus S with 512MB ram can run it so well then the arc S surely deserves it. it will become a beast with jelly bean.
Let's hope Sony don't make a mess of it. Official ICS hardly fills me with confidence!

You know, nothing would be wrong if they simply put GB on it, and then each month release a new major update (ICS, both JBs);
Because, the more Android versions a phone can handle (officially), the better it is for development...
The Nexus S is a perfect example;
GB>ICS>JB>JB.2.1

Creating a major update every month is close to impossible. Well, actually possible, but then don't expect a bug-free and/or stable update.
Besides, why provide so many? GB is getting old already, ICS is still in use, as JB hasn't been around for very long. These 2 are just fine.

So the Nexus 4 is running on pixie dust then? Of course there's drivers! The biggest reason is simply that during the months of software/hardware testing JB 4.1 would have been the current OS.. so that's what it's releasing with.

Nexus devices are running qualcom, nvidia and samsumg SoC's.
So tell me again these manufacturers that havent released these drivers you are waiting on.
No other devices have 4.2.1 because
1. 4.2 is buggy...look at the bluetooth issues for example
2. Updating UI to 4.1/4.2 needs more care as to not break your own UI features
3. 4.2 came so (relatively) soon after 4.2 that most manufacturers havent even finished up 4.1

Just stumbled across this article of how Sony will realese 4.3 to Some Devices, , Sonys still In the game lookin around so if were Lucky then we might get 5.0,
WEBPAGE
Thanks for sharing, here is the article from the link above:
As it usually happens when Google announces a new version of Android, even a relatively minor one like 4.3, all eyes are turned on manufacturers for announcements regarding the rollout of the respective update.
For Android 4.3, the first OEM to step forward is Sony, which announced in a blog post that is working with Google and Qualcomm to prepare the update for several recent devices:
Xperia Z
Xperia ZL
Xperia ZR
Xperia Tablet Z
Xperia SP
Xperia Z Ultra
These all devices released in the recent months powered by Qualcomm processors (just like the new Nexus 7). In addition to the list above, Sony also said that it plans to skip the Android 4.2 update for some devices, and bring them directly to the latest Android 4.3 version. It’s not known yet which devices will get this treatment.
Also, no word yet on the timeline of the Android 4.3 update for Sony devices, but the company promised that more information would be coming as soon as possible.
Two other major manufacturers, Samsung and HTC, were unfortunately less forthcoming about their Android 4.3 update plans. Both companies produce Google Play Edition phones (our reviews: HTC One GPe and Galaxy S4 GPe), which Google said yesterday will be updated “soon”.
As for regular devices, Samsung told Tech Radar that it “will confirm upgrade plans to Android 4.3 to selected Galaxy devices in the coming months”, while HTC claimed to be currently “reviewing Android 4.3 to see how this update fits into our plans”. In non-PR speak, neither company has info to share at this moment.
One manufacturer known for speedy Android updates is Asus, the maker of both generations of the Nexus 7. To our knowledge, the Taiwanese company hasn’t revealed anything yet, though we do expect an announcement in the coming weeks.

Side note, although its nice that Sony always seems to be quick to mention what devices are getting what updates, fast, however this article of course obviously pertains to only 2013 devices, no 2012 and of course definately no 2011 devices.
Actually, some devices running 4.1 may get bumped to 4.3. They didn't say only for 2013 devices.
"We’re also looking at uplifting some of our other devices running 4.1 direct to 4.3 – we’ll share more info / deets / timings when we can, so be sure to follow @sonymobileNews for all the latest."
But yea, no hope for 2011 devices, lol.

Our phone isn't running 4.1 lol. They are not updating any 2011 devices

Yep but if by lucky we might be able to compile the 3.x kernel sooner and get at least 4.1 with good performance and battery or even better 4.2.2,

Actually if someone can donate their play (if they have an extra) to mike he'll build it for us. Ozzmanjunior already contacted him about sending him his extra r800x but I don't know what they've decided on

even if you could have a 4.3 xperia play, would it be functionally with all the controls and work at a high speed without lag?

I think 5.0 optimizations will make games run smooth and just possibly some 1 could find a controls fix atleast!

well..that can be true..but beeing realistic we cant hope too much on this for touchpads/gamepads working..maybe we can get a fix...better is wait and see,but to be true im not a touchscreen play fan..i like too much my controls, specially gamepads..touchpads i dont use that much.
our phone specifications cant handle too much..above all, 512 ram is...at least short.
