Still under warranty? Do you use the headphone jack a lot? There have been several reports of people whose headphone jack stopped working, presumably because the mechanical sensor contact in the headphone jack is cheap/defective, and no longer detects when a headphone plug is inserted. In most cases, the tablet had to be sent in for physical repair. If you haven't changed ROMs recently, it may unfortunately be such a failure. I doubt it had anything to do with connecting to your PC.

You said you were running the Lenovo ICS upgrade - they may still ask you to reinstall the original "official" Honeycomb image before you send it in for repair, just to be "sure". If so, I assume you know that there are instructions on how to do that in the Lenovo forums: http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/IdeaPad...1-Stock-Rom-120109-Bootloader-Fix/td-p/713621

[problem] No audio from speaker.Phones thinks headphones are plugged in

Hi,
My TD2 no longer plays sound through the earpiece. It falsely assumes that the headphones are connected.
I've upgraded to the latest official HTC ROM 2.53.404.3(76952)NLD which also included a WinMo upgrade i believe, but that hasn't fixed the problem.
Plugging and unplugging the usb connector a few times also had no effect.
Maybe someone around here has had a similar problem before?
Any advice or help I could get would be appreciated.

If you've hard reset and still have this issue, you have likely damaged some pins in your USB port.

[Q] How to determin whethet its HARDWARE or FIRMWARE fault ???

Hi.
Yesterday my phone stopped recognising the earphones/speakers when plugged in ?! It doesn't show the "headphones" icon any more, and even on full volume I can here sound/music only on the left speaker/earphone very silently. I've tried 2 different headphones, 2 different speakers as well ... ale same results.
Is there a way how to determine whether it's firmware/software issue or hardware ???
Thank you in advance.
P.S. : what I did prior to noticing this problem - we have a new sound system in our school that has two places for connection. We were using one of them, but couldn't use the another one, because of lacking cable. Once the cable arrived and we connected the cable to the system - I've tried whether it's working with my phone. It played the sound only in the way, that I've described. So we have tried it with an Iphone (the same results) and later PC, which played the sound correctly. I'm still waiting for response from the Iphone owner, whether he has the same problem - but could the cable/system caused the fault ??? Do you think, that my phone would get damaged by "some current" ???
From what you say, it seems to be an hardware problem. To test this, you can perform a factory reset and if the problem persists it's definitively an hardware problem.
one possibility is you got dust/lint in the earphone socket. the cover broke off on my defy, and i occasionally have to pull some lint out using a toothpick
I've checked that as well, but couldn't see anything there. Well never mind now...I've sold the Defy and bought a new one. Such a great phone deserves that everything is running as it should
Thank you for your help.

[Q]Help: Microphone problem

Hello everyone! I have a Galaxy S5 (SM-G900F) which I bought 21 Days ago,and until 15/09/2014 it worked perfectly. By then,When I call someone or they call me,people cannot hear me. I tried to blow into the microphone hole in the bottom of the phone, and then they said that they could hear me LOW and muffled. I then tried to Factory Reset the phone, thinked that it could be a software problem, but nothing. Could it be that something got into the microphone hole? Do I need to bring it to Samsung Repair? Or can I solve this by myself? It's kinda annoying waiting one Month to get the phone repaired and staying without it :| Thanks in advance!
P.S: Phone has never been rooted nor CWM or Custom Rom. Left it stock, will wait some months to root.

Same problem occured to me today. I'll send it to warranty. It's hardware problems. If you try an call someone with headset plugged in it works with no problem. It's hardware related (bottom mic). Same advice to you !

Well man,I solved it! I used a needle to clean the crap that got in the mic hole, it was just a little bit but that didn't make the microphone to work as it should have. Now it's clean and works perfectly,as new :highfive:

No audio on left channel

Hello. A few days ago I lost the sound on the left channel on my N910F. I tried with different headphones (and also my headphones on other phone). The headphones are ok but I have no sound on the left channel (the headphones microphone works though). I tried cleaning the internal connector as good as I can but no luck, so I sent the phone to a samsung service for warranty. They called me the next day saying they wont touch the phone because it is rooted which voided the warranty.
Is the phones connector a separate module which I can change myself? If so how expensive is it? It also could be the motherboard... I only used dr ketan's rom and emotroid on this phone... I've been rooting and flashing samsung devices sice the S1 days (every iteration) and never heard of something like this.. that's why I'm blaming a physical issue with the connector.
Thanks.

It's the right channel which is not working, the left one is ok. I am now ordering the replacement part, if anyone interested here's how you change it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QsUhVTj6Drc

No sound from headphone jack

I applied a DBT or German update to my N910F for marshmallow and then RRemix which resulted in the sound problem.
I cleaned the headphone jack meticulously
tried reinstalling the different ROMs and firmware available
Then I bought a replacement headphone jack and the repair man tried it, the original one again and even his own headphone jack, all 3 of which produced no sound
I placed it in safe mode and even attempted to boot it with the headphone
I have no idea what to do. The only clue is dm-verity fail after flashing the firmware. Maybe its the sound drivers or jack connectors being unclean?

Flash back stock firmware and see if it works otherwise it could be hardware fault.

Thank you for your assistance
I tried:
- Reinstalling multiple stock firmwares of different updates (up to Aug 2017)
- Different MODEM and Bootloader updates
- Restarted the device with the headphone jack plugged in
- Recleaned the headphone jack multiple times
- Tried three different headphone jacks, including one new bought from Samsung
- Installed different ROMs, including RaceROM and LineageOS
- Experienced 'Camera cannot be accessed error' and inability to use torch, which is solved by removing the battery while the phone is running
- NFC is also not working even on stock, suggesting a problem in the connection between battery and mainboard/components (power?)
Two different repairmen told me that the probable area of the defect is the mainboard, around the clips that connect them, maybe even changing screws for the ground?
For future reference - Managed to get to the bottom of the problem
A new audio ic on the mainboard was needed, Samsung stated they would have to replace the entire motherboard for the ridiculous price of 180 USD equiv, some engineer said he could solder a new one onto the mainboard, end of story
