I am having problems with wifi. The wifi network gets connected but i am unable to make browse or do anything .
It says "Can't establish a reliable network connection" . Is there a solution through which i can root the wifi?

but can i do something to make that unreliable connection work ? I wanted to make that unreliable connection work. Can it be done by rooting?
No. Your tablet won't change the fact that your provider is the problem. The nexus 7 and tf101 have shown me that Asus makes the best WiFi radios. The problem must be your modem or router.
My WiFi connection on n7 is crappy as well. All my other devices are good when I'm on my room except the n7. It's definitely a lemon unit I got. I remedied it by installing connectify on my desktop. But then it is not a good solution as my desktop need to be always on. I haven't brought mine to service center, coz they may refuse it as I lost my warranty card.
To OP, better bring it to service center.

I rooted my phone the other day and I'm loving it but signal sucks at my girls house so I need wifi but it won't connect. It picks up the network and lets me ebert the password but that's it. I know it's not a computer problem because my itouch and laptop connect fine. Can someone give some advice please?

Still most likely a router problem, wifi works fine with root installed, try connecting to a different wifi access point (at your home, or work, etc.) if you still have problems then troubleshoot the phone, before then...
Often times Routers will have issues with one device and not another, I've had plenty instances where my computer connected fine to my wifi, and then my laptop could not. Usually hard reset on the router works (unplug the router and plug it back in). Often times it has to do with a corrupt cache, (your mac address for devices connected is stored temporarily on the router, there are times when this caching gets corrupted and actually prevents you from reconnecting) The same applies to devices connected. If you have the access point saved on your phone, delete the saved access point, and reconnect.
As a side note, I think this was a better post for Q&A and not development thread.
i'm an idiot. thought this was in reference to the wifi tethering thread. my bad.
Thank you, resetting the router worked and now I'm connected. I agree this would have been better in another section but I posted here since I thought it may have been related to root since it was fine before but thanks again.

Does anyone have issues staying connected to wifi on their Fascinate? It seems that I can only connect for a little bit until it cuts out. It still says I'm connected but if I use the internet it says connection lost. Then when I turn the wifi on and off it works for just a little bit again.
Any help would be appreciated but for all I know, I'm the only one with this problem.
Does it happen just at your home connection or other hotspots too?

FWIW, wifi was absolute junk on my Fascinate when I had the Wireless Tether app installed. After uninstalling it and switching to Barnacle for tethering, wifi performance improved tremendously. Not sure if that's your issue or not though.

Before updating my wireless driver on my laptop, I couldn't connect to the AdHoc network of Wireless Tether (2.0.6) at all...zilch.
After updating my Intel wireless driver to v13.4 directly from Intel, it found and connected to the AdHoc network immediately and is working great now. No wi-fi drops.
I'm going to try Barnacle next. Just wanted to point out that wifi can be drastically affected by your wireless network card's driver...so update it if you haven't. I prefer to update my wifi cards directly from their manufacturer's site instead of the computer manufacturer unless there is no other choice.
Good luck.
Sorry in advance if the answer is obvious but I want to use my galaxy s4 as a "relay" if you will for a Wifi connection. Is it possible to share the connection and use my device as an access point of sorts? To be clear, I don't want to tether my mobile connection because there doesn't seem to be a good way to do this without AT&T harassing me about it since they have once before, otherwise I would just tether.
I am rooted running clean ROM 1.0

If you don't want to tether then I don't understand. If you are using a wifi connection and want to share - just have other devices connect directly. Why do you want to use your phone as a wifi bridge?

My wireless signal has a very difficult time reaching my PC. I can understand why people would think my request is futile but I've noticed that proximity of the router to my laptop greatly impacts my latency. So I was wondering if it's possible to use it as a relay of sorts :-/

I don't think the phone can use the radio to receive and broadcast wifi at the same time.
I would consider moving my router.

One very irritating "feature" on my note 3 is it's automatic network disconnect when it thinks the internet connection speed is poor. Is there any way to override this automatic disconnect? Particularly since there seems to be a well known bug with the galaxy range wifi network which thinks the connection speed is poor even if there is nothing wrong with the wifi signal or Internet connection speed.
Try this.

Unfortunately the wifi connection dropping issue seems to be highly dependant on your router.
Most people with the problem (including me) solved it with a different/newer router.
If you have spare time you could waste it ticking/unticking boxes in the wifi menu .. & THEN change your router lol

No it is os bug. I have the same issue on newest update

I am having the same issue on a corporate wireless network behind a proxy. It will connect, perform the connection speed test and then disable the network due to the connection speed being slow.
I am able to connect to a WiFi network on a secondary connection which does not go through the proxy. Both connections are on the same network.

Yes.... obviously an OS bug but we are stuck with it currently.
The information people need is how to COPE with the bug. I changed my router & no more problems so there's router's that will stop the issue occurring.

is there a way to disable this stupid thing yet?

Turnoff wifi power saving mode. This should work.

Just got my Nexus 10, so far I'm liking it. One problem I'm having is connecting to my wifi through my extender I can't get on the internet. It makes the connection to the extender, if I connect to my router it works fine. Only the extender is giving me trouble and I have to connect to the extender to be on the same network as my Chromecast in the bedroom. I'm on latest stock rom KitKat and not rooted (yet).
Got it working, restart extender. Simple fix.
