My current gf's upgrade is due and she's elgible for the phone surprisingly! I was considerng dropping my sexy, gorgeous, fantastic, amazing epic 4g on her and taking off with the 4ton4g! I played around with it a bit yesterday at the sprint store and I literally jizzed in my briefs!(false story) I'm strongly considering taking it though! Has any one played around with it as of late? First impressions?

I have had it for 3 days and love it. But you should look in the photon 4g section, and read the forums there. That's where you will find the most info on it. And yes its a bad Mopho!

Eh, personally the underwhelming Tegra 2 and locked bootloader ruined it for me. If it had the OMAP 4430 like the rest of MOTOs new "Droids" I'd give it a try.

Me personally would go with an evo 3d instead over a moto
MOTO= Ugly Phone,Screen,Locked boot loader, the list goes on and on and on....

I don't know if I would call the phone 'ugly' but it's certainly different. The screen...well, no one can really compete with Sammy's screen, let's get real here. Locked bootloader = fail IMO. I know, I know, there's an update that supposed to come out and unlock it, but when? Has there been an actual announcement date on it?
I was seriously considering the Photon because of impatience with the SGSII, but knowing the bootloader is in fact locked, and with hope of Nexus 3 coming in a few months, I'm going to skip on the Photon personally.
I hope it's a rockin phone for those that get it, I just won't be one of them.

I literally just got mine in the mail the ups guy just knocked on the door I'm about to open it up now......gotta love working for a third party sprint dealer. Korey has it and loves it. Unfortunately only way to root right now is having the media dock which is 100 bones but I'll let you guys know tomorrow how I actually feel about the phone.
Gonna miss my keyboard but I'm going to keep my epic for dev/testing purposes.....

I don't know display is really pixelated and lock bootloader sux

I honestly could not buy it. My epic right now runs smoother. Just based on the reveiws the galaxy s2 is much better than the other duel core phones.

Farewell epic

Just wanted to say goodbye to the epic 4g. I recently traded my epic for a nexus s 4g, and I couldn't be happier. I wanted to say thanks to all the great devs that made the epic what it should have been out of the box. My decision was confirmed for me when my wife's LG Optimus s got an ota gingerbread update the other day! Before the epic! Crazy! For me its all nexus phones from now on. There will be some features that I miss from touchwiz, but for the performance and update trade off, I'd gladly go vanilla android. Thanks again for everyone who made the epic an awesome phone!

Good luck with your new toy and happy flashing! This community is great. The ET4G forum was all jovial for the first 2 days. Now, the morons are popping up everywhere! As soon as one minor issue pops up, people are going ballistic. If only they could learn patience from some of us here...

I've got this bro. I'll wear a "Forever Alone Face" mask, and it'll be the story of "E for Epic 4G" and I'll blow up the E4TG Parliamentary Manufacturing plant.
(I really do hope someone gets the connection and I don't look like a lame ass haha)

I just sent an email to Samsung through opensource.samsung.com asking them to release the Gengerbread update and/or the source code for our phone, hopefully they will reply to me in 24 hours as they claim and not just ignore it :/

Pretty ****ty that my niece just got a new Android through METRO PCS (probably the worst provider in the U.S.), and she has Gingerbread. Glad I paid all of this money for something treated like a red headed step-phone.
Disgusted with Samsung beyond belief. What is taking so long to release this? It looks like they are working on it, but I don't understand what is taking so long. Not that I am available for an upgrade right now, but even if I were, there is nothing out there that I really want right now (QWERTY is something I really want).

That's what I did. I traded my epic straight up for a nexus. The Guy wanted a keyboard...I wanted an unlocked phone. Worked good all around. There's quite a few of us former epic users in the nexus forums. I got to say, its all its cracked up to be!

Still using my Epic as my main phone, but I used my sister's upgrade to get the Nexus. Just as a nerd toy. Got it for 30 dollars. It was so worth it oh my god, MIUI is amazing on that curved screen. It hasn't been thirty days yet and I was gonna trade it back for the Epic 4G Touch but the Best Buy website says there isn't any in stock in my area so I guess I'm stuck with my Nexus

30 dollars?! Damn, and that was a hell of a deal! I really would like to get my hands on one of those so I can get a true Miui and CM7 experience. I am too new to the Android scene. I have yet to have a phone with either of those ROMs but I assure I will get a chance on my ET4G

EVO LTE not what I expected!

So yesterday my epic was stolen. I call sprint to do my ins claim n found out my upgrade was up. So I decided to givea shot to the EVO (keeping in mind that I have 14 days to switch to my gs3 lol ) .this phone looks n feels amazing but truly has far as the performance goes it cannot match our E4GT. It has too many issues. Despite not having LTE yet this phone is not an upgrade from the epic. Google wallet doesn't work , WiFi issues , multitask sucks and I don't care what people say this phone lags. Keep in mind I'm neither an HTC or Samsung fanboy. I'm just android freak looking for the best experience.

I am a Samsung fanboy and am using the EVO til gs3 is in stores and everything you said is correct and more. The things that are blowing me away is the mods that keep deleting the threads of the people that are discussing why they are returning the phone and how many returns that there for quite a few different reasons.

Hmm..Interesting experience. My experiences have been amazing. Ironically I was just thinking apple doesn't stand a chance with such a stable HTC device with sense 4, and ICS... Unfortunate you did not have a better experience with the LTEvo

There are some pretty significant issues with a good percentage of these phones mine has issues its just not worth my time to return it when I will be returning it for the gs3. Some people are on their 2nd or 3rd exchange. So good for him he is lucky. It isn't a bad phone but I like Samsung's better. Everything about sammies are better.

The op also posted this in the e4gt forum and the mod closed it so it wouldn't be all about fanboism. Ughhh What's so wrong with being a fanboy?

I think it is a good opinion that all who are upgrading would like to know. But it is usually best to post these things in the phone upgrading thread.

I have seen many who have had that issue with the screen light bleeding into the home button. But no not me. I have slower 3g than my epic and WiFi is wonky. Ear speaker while on call is very low. Music volume is very low. Multi tasking is crap. The keyboard will get hung up and won't type. I don't like sense lol

It's okay to criticize HTC so long as you also acknowledge Samsung's shortcomings. 'Fanboy' is synonymous with 'hypocrite.'
Remember when the Epic 4G was released with video out capability? Oh wait, no, they nixed that at the last minute without telling anyone so that they could force their MediaHub over DLNA. Because every TV I'm ever near has DLNA. But I'm not bitter.
FACT: MediaHub was the first apk I deleted when I first rooted.

I say we thrown in and buy JT a fascinate! Just as a token of appreciation for all he has done for this device. I would sell mine, but Im not sure that I want to part with it yet lol.

I would love to offer to buy him one outright but I am not in great financial shape myself (damn job search...college and law school were really worthwhile. :banghead: .....). But I could certainly kick in 10 bucks or so.

I can't believe jt is coming back, thought he left for good. This is awesome, I'm definitely not gonna upgrade till I know there is development on uscc sgs3 or uscc gets a nexus. As other users commented on my thread, it's only cancelled for the Canadian version of O2X. There's still a hope for us Atrix users. And why would you change your phone because you're not getting a software update?

Also, it saves you money to keep it and nobody has canceled anything yet. We have an official statement saying Q3 for the Atrix's ICS update. We then have lots of speculation based on many things regarding it. So let's at least try to stick with Motorola here until they've actually not delivered on their promise.

I'm hoping there will be a new Nexus phone around the end of this year when I am finally able to upgrade. Otherwise, SGS3.

Exactly right. I've never understood this "ZOMG, no updates, must change phone now!!1!11!! eleventy !!1!11!!" logic from supposedly intelligent people. If your phone is very old, sure, I can see upgrading, but a phone that's not even two years old and has what's currently the most prolific version of Android available (Gingerbread)? A phone that, in many ways, still kicks the crap out of most (not all, but most) phones currently in the market? All because it doesn't have a version of Android that, based on what I've seen, has more than a few significant issues on many devices, issues that have been largely resolved with Jellybean (shades of every-other-Windows-release-is-crap syndrome!)? Unbelievable.

I have a better question: what will there be left to talk/worry about once Moto hits us with ICS? JB?

Just make better ROMs and Mods, and keep Atrix growing like the HTC HD2

That gs3 is a beast.. 720p 1.5ghz and 2gb ram. As I recall it lacks HDMI out but I might be wrong. My mom's got one of those after I realized it has an hd screen far and away surpassing the gs2.. plus it's got a.. I'll say lively community

I hate to be the one to say this, but you know when you go back to the root Atrix 4G section, there's a button on the right hand side that says "Search this forum", and if you select "Show posts" and type in "ZTE" and then press "Enter", you'll get around 4 pages of discussion on this topic?
As for which phone to get, a Nexus, I guess. At least if they make one with an SLCD and external storage/32GB internal... I don't really like the lower life-expectancy of AMOLED screens, and I need at least 25GB of data storage space.
