Giving it away........

So I've had my evo since it first came out rooted shortly after and been flashing ROMs daily til CM6. And stuck with their nightlies, but I'm ready to move on now. Giving this beauty to my girlfriend, stuck now on which phone to get next. Seriously thinking about getting the Nexus S, but also thinking about verizon's incredible. Not too sure which I'm gonna get. I just wanna know what this beautiful XDA community thinks. Maybe this could've been in another section but oh well. Sue me!

I would not get a phone that can't handle an SD card. The S looks sweet but thats it IMO. I had a Fascinate and I swore I would never get a Samsung device again because of the lack of software updates. I had an INC and liked it. Its all a matter of taste. I have had a Droid X and the original Droid and out of all the phones I like the EVO the best and my second would be the original Droid..go figure.

if you go verizon, get the thunderbolt.
at&t the atrix.
t-mobile id get the mytouch4g or wait for the lg 3d phone.
for sprint id wait for the nexus s or the evo3d.

+1...Had a MyTouch on Simple Mobile and it was nice...

So when are these phones coming out guys? And am I gonna have to wear glasses w the 3d lol.....? Is the Nexus really that ****ty? I've read some good reviews.

Well honestly I think the Nexus S us a great device! it just comes down to what you like & what you need. Some people say to wait for Dual-core phones but personally I don't like the idea. So it's all up to you, when it comes down to it. Also take into account that the Nexus S didn't have a SD card slot, but not a big deal to me

inc and nexus s are not real upgardes from the EVO.
i would wait for a few months.. and better phones will be released.
better cpu and gpu and mem and screens.

For 3d its no glasses and I disagree on getting the thunderbolt its not a real upgrade from the evo

I just can't stand how the buttons are "backwards" on the nexus s. I know all samsung phones are this way, its just annoying at first.

+1 that's what I thought.
Right now the evo is still top dog imo, plus the developer community is way involved. Seems like at least one new rom comes out each week.

Anyone keeping the EPIC when the EVO 3D comes out?

I came from the EVO to epic so im very familiar with evos style and how its handles as a smartphone but damn that EVO 3D looks very temping to go back.. and just in time for my yearly upgrade in july when it looks to be dropping i might just go plung for it and do like i do all my other phones including the epic and EBAY It...
how about the rest of yall? Nexus S doesnt appeal to me

I've been buying AMOLED devices since 2008.
No AMOLED, no purchase.

definitely keeping the epic. it does everything and more I could possibly want from a phone. I'm not really buying into this whole 3d thing yet either.

It all depends on how good the screen & display looks.

Defintely. And stop hating on 3d. You dont have to use the 3d function. Its still a dual core phone with 1gb of ram qhd screen with super lcd

The epic is the best smartphone they have right now. I do not consider a phone without a keyboard a smartphone. I can't stand when someone hands me a phone to type a message...setup some things etc...when it is a virtual keyboard.

I wonder how the 1.2 dual core does in quadrant scores and linpacks ............ lol with the extra boost of ram, thats what my main eyes on.. its a evo supercharged and i did miss my evo so i would love to see how it is.. samsung to me been a **** up, developers shouldnt work so hard to do what they shoulda had done right from first go around and im an all time htc fan...i love their quality hardware, never had a problem with em.. keyboard i will miss but, i can type better on glass than on samsungs skipped keyboard.... *even with the patches* :/

I can't stand the Epic. Ideally, I'd go back to iOS but Sprint doesn't have an Iphone. Anyhow, the answer is no. I'll probably get an EVO 3D.

Farewell epic

Just wanted to say goodbye to the epic 4g. I recently traded my epic for a nexus s 4g, and I couldn't be happier. I wanted to say thanks to all the great devs that made the epic what it should have been out of the box. My decision was confirmed for me when my wife's LG Optimus s got an ota gingerbread update the other day! Before the epic! Crazy! For me its all nexus phones from now on. There will be some features that I miss from touchwiz, but for the performance and update trade off, I'd gladly go vanilla android. Thanks again for everyone who made the epic an awesome phone!

Good luck with your new toy and happy flashing! This community is great. The ET4G forum was all jovial for the first 2 days. Now, the morons are popping up everywhere! As soon as one minor issue pops up, people are going ballistic. If only they could learn patience from some of us here...

(I really do hope someone gets the connection and I don't look like a lame ass haha)

I just sent an email to Samsung through opensource.samsung.com asking them to release the Gengerbread update and/or the source code for our phone, hopefully they will reply to me in 24 hours as they claim and not just ignore it :/

Pretty ****ty that my niece just got a new Android through METRO PCS (probably the worst provider in the U.S.), and she has Gingerbread. Glad I paid all of this money for something treated like a red headed step-phone.
Disgusted with Samsung beyond belief. What is taking so long to release this? It looks like they are working on it, but I don't understand what is taking so long. Not that I am available for an upgrade right now, but even if I were, there is nothing out there that I really want right now (QWERTY is something I really want).

That's what I did. I traded my epic straight up for a nexus. The Guy wanted a keyboard...I wanted an unlocked phone. Worked good all around. There's quite a few of us former epic users in the nexus forums. I got to say, its all its cracked up to be!

Still using my Epic as my main phone, but I used my sister's upgrade to get the Nexus. Just as a nerd toy. Got it for 30 dollars. It was so worth it oh my god, MIUI is amazing on that curved screen. It hasn't been thirty days yet and I was gonna trade it back for the Epic 4G Touch but the Best Buy website says there isn't any in stock in my area so I guess I'm stuck with my Nexus

30 dollars?! Damn, and that was a hell of a deal! I really would like to get my hands on one of those so I can get a true Miui and CM7 experience. I am too new to the Android scene. I have yet to have a phone with either of those ROMs but I assure I will get a chance on my ET4G

Is it that much of an upgrade from the ATRIX? I might hold out til manufactures get to dual core 1.5 before I upgrade cause 1.2 and a camera don't do it for me. That 32gb internal is really enticing though

The curve shown looks too extreme but a slight curve is fine. The front does look sexy though.

GSM Arena reports that the phone will not be 1.2 TI OMAP but 1.5 Samsung built processor, and also 8MP camera with 720P Screen. Also it is reporting that the phone will be GSM/CDMA like the iPhone 4s.. which is slightly harder to believe. But there was a phone pushed through the FCC about a week ago or so with AT&T bands. I'm already preparing to sell my Atrix, I want this phone.. This or the Galaxy Note, which also went through FCC with AT&T bands about 5 days ago. Hopefully they both get announced at Unpacked next week! I can barely wait.

I want it so bad!!!!!! But i hafta get one for my nexus s and xbox but that's not going to happen so I'm probably going to wait til the next nexus and just by it. Damn you Samsung for making such sexy phones!

I want one too, holding off on the SG2 on ATT for this,....but was afraid it would happen to the Prime as it did to the other two Nexus phones, by the time it comes to a GSM band it's nearly obsolete.
Disappointed, but hoping that Tuesday we find out it's coming to all at once... I can dream!

I wish I could take so principled a stand (against HTC), cuz I agree wholeheartedly. That said, my Evo is feeling pretty old, and I think it's getting tired. And who knows how long til this years nexus (damn, what if HTC made it, how awesome would that be?!) Probably octoberish, maybe ?
With gsIII specs released today, it didn't seem all too impressive. Maybe, hopefully, that will cause more devs to stay with HTC, more of them to focus on S-off. I know xhausx has vowed to work on it, that's def encouraging.

Htc lost the bid Samsung has a standing agreement with Google to be the sole producer of nexus for a while coming, because Google doesn't like htcs bull**** anymore than we do HTC said the nexus would ship locked and Google withdrew their contract after Sammy promised to not lock down any of their handsets based on android , plus lte doesn't hit my area til phase 2 rollout this fall so I'm in no hurry to get a new device til I have Lte available
Edit: my dads company has over 20k employees nationwide, none of which will receive an HTC device on company provided accounts I talked their corporate account rep into denying HTC upgrades on buisness lines unless the employee pays for it out of pocket

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but they went back on their word of saying they'd unlock their bootloaders or the potential to [htc dev], but they have changed their mind and went with locked bootloaders.

I think you're partially correct and partially incorrect. If my understanding is correct, they have a bootloader unlock, but it only partially unlocks it, making things still difficult for devs to work with. They didn't straight-up lie, but they told a half truth I guess.
Not worth a ban on a great phone to me. I'm excited about it even STOCK!

I agree, even though the sgIII has full unlock, the lte and one x both have amazing stock specs. And to add to that, rom flashing is still available to do regardless of full unlock or not
