Giving it away........

So I've had my evo since it first came out rooted shortly after and been flashing ROMs daily til CM6. And stuck with their nightlies, but I'm ready to move on now. Giving this beauty to my girlfriend, stuck now on which phone to get next. Seriously thinking about getting the Nexus S, but also thinking about verizon's incredible. Not too sure which I'm gonna get. I just wanna know what this beautiful XDA community thinks. Maybe this could've been in another section but oh well. Sue me!

I would not get a phone that can't handle an SD card. The S looks sweet but thats it IMO. I had a Fascinate and I swore I would never get a Samsung device again because of the lack of software updates. I had an INC and liked it. Its all a matter of taste. I have had a Droid X and the original Droid and out of all the phones I like the EVO the best and my second would be the original Droid..go figure.

if you go verizon, get the thunderbolt.
at&t the atrix.
t-mobile id get the mytouch4g or wait for the lg 3d phone.
for sprint id wait for the nexus s or the evo3d.

+1...Had a MyTouch on Simple Mobile and it was nice...

So when are these phones coming out guys? And am I gonna have to wear glasses w the 3d lol.....? Is the Nexus really that ****ty? I've read some good reviews.

Well honestly I think the Nexus S us a great device! it just comes down to what you like & what you need. Some people say to wait for Dual-core phones but personally I don't like the idea. So it's all up to you, when it comes down to it. Also take into account that the Nexus S didn't have a SD card slot, but not a big deal to me

inc and nexus s are not real upgardes from the EVO.
i would wait for a few months.. and better phones will be released.
better cpu and gpu and mem and screens.

For 3d its no glasses and I disagree on getting the thunderbolt its not a real upgrade from the evo

I just can't stand how the buttons are "backwards" on the nexus s. I know all samsung phones are this way, its just annoying at first.

+1 that's what I thought.
Right now the evo is still top dog imo, plus the developer community is way involved. Seems like at least one new rom comes out each week.

Epic users. Are you going to jump ship for the Evo 3D, or wait for the GSII?

Been looking at the Evo 3D...and it looks pretty cool. But there is just something about it that doesnt appeal to me. I think I might wait for the Galaxy SII to drop!

Ya I loved everything about the phone until I saw the 2d-3d toggle switch next to the camera button... not sexy.. I figured that the setting for that would be a widget just like everything else on the phone... makes it look cheap.. oh well I guess ill be walking around with the cheap ugly thing soon enough though! ;-)

EVO 3D for me!

I'm happy with my Epic, I'll upgrade once there's a SAMOLED Galaxy S2 3D

Been burned too many times by samsung, never again. But not doing evo 3d either.

Looks to me like 3D might finally take off. But I'm not downgrading from SuperAmoled to dim looking LCD. I might consider getting a new phone when Samsung comes out with a Galaxy 3D LTE [since wimax is in the brinks of it's final days]- with a Qwerty keyboard.

Waiting for physical keyboard.

Truthfully for me if the epic gets the real stock up date soon I'll stay with it.

I could care less about 3D. I'll wait until my upgrade rolls around or something really blows me away before I start considering another phone. Nice to see sprint is finally beefing up their phone lineup to an acceptable level compared to the competition.

When HTC/Moto comes out with a brilliant screen like the Galaxy S/Iphone then I'll be picking that up.
Never going Samsung again.

The switch is for 2d/3d camera, not the screen itself..that's controlled within the settings.
Either way, not for me..3d is too much of a gimmick and I'll wait it out a bit.

I am going back to htc. Dunno about the evo 3d tho next phone shpukd be out in another 6 months right

My current gf's upgrade is due and she's elgible for the phone surprisingly! I was considerng dropping my sexy, gorgeous, fantastic, amazing epic 4g on her and taking off with the 4ton4g! I played around with it a bit yesterday at the sprint store and I literally jizzed in my briefs!(false story) I'm strongly considering taking it though! Has any one played around with it as of late? First impressions?

I have had it for 3 days and love it. But you should look in the photon 4g section, and read the forums there. That's where you will find the most info on it. And yes its a bad Mopho!

Eh, personally the underwhelming Tegra 2 and locked bootloader ruined it for me. If it had the OMAP 4430 like the rest of MOTOs new "Droids" I'd give it a try.

Me personally would go with an evo 3d instead over a moto
MOTO= Ugly Phone,Screen,Locked boot loader, the list goes on and on and on....

I don't know if I would call the phone 'ugly' but it's certainly different. The screen...well, no one can really compete with Sammy's screen, let's get real here. Locked bootloader = fail IMO. I know, I know, there's an update that supposed to come out and unlock it, but when? Has there been an actual announcement date on it?
I was seriously considering the Photon because of impatience with the SGSII, but knowing the bootloader is in fact locked, and with hope of Nexus 3 coming in a few months, I'm going to skip on the Photon personally.
I hope it's a rockin phone for those that get it, I just won't be one of them.

I literally just got mine in the mail the ups guy just knocked on the door I'm about to open it up now......gotta love working for a third party sprint dealer. Korey has it and loves it. Unfortunately only way to root right now is having the media dock which is 100 bones but I'll let you guys know tomorrow how I actually feel about the phone.
Gonna miss my keyboard but I'm going to keep my epic for dev/testing purposes.....

I don't know display is really pixelated and lock bootloader sux

I honestly could not buy it. My epic right now runs smoother. Just based on the reveiws the galaxy s2 is much better than the other duel core phones.

EVO 4G vs EVO 3D

Hey new to the xda forums just made a account been wondering whether to get a EVO 3d back but want some honest opnions whether its really that much better than the og EVO or is it just the wow factor

This isn't really a cut and dry answer. You have some people that say they'd rather have the OG Evo and you have some who say the 3D Evo is all that and they are only going forward. I messed with a co-workers and I liked the processing power and more memory. The 3d was cool but I can see it wearing off after a while. I'm taking the plunge on just processing power and memory alone but that's just me. Check out the EVO 3D section, read up and make an informed choice.

Yea thats what drew it to me to that dual core processor would wamna see how fast that bad boy can really go after a root and custom kernel but yea ill go by those threads and take a look thanks

I am holding out until the Kingdom is released. Haven't heard much about it other than the roms based off of it. I would be perfectly happy with my OG Evo if some of these lazy ass devs would hurry up and root my phone for me though. I sure do miss some sense 3 (damn these smartphones and their aversion to river water).

hahaha i feel your pain
to answer the main question, i wouldnt go for the E3D. while it is approx. 2x as fast as the OG evo, with rooted roms, the performance is not bad at all. it can totally handle all your social media, many games and such. i dont really see the noticeable benefit between the 3d and the og. thus, i have a OG evo.

Yes but you bought the EVO long before the 3D came out. If you are buying a phone and are deciding between the two, its a no brainer. Buy the 3D. It is worth the extra 100 bucks.

I had the evo4g then nexus s then 3d now back to the evo4g I didn't really like the 3d its not a big upgrade from the evo 4g. If I were u I would buy a used evo and use the upgrade a little later when a better phone comes out. That's just my opinion.

I'm in the same boat. I know Radio Shack's been offering the EVO 4G for free with an upgrade so I was thinking about hopping on that.

Point of 3d would be processor no need for 3d pics when ur sending to 2d phone.... OG is hot wouldn't trade for anything..... Except dual core OG 4G

Really though its dual core and 40g's of storage out of the box. Plus root and some awesome devs who upgraded from OG. I would get it based on those facts.

I've been waiting to use my upgrade on a soon to be announced phone like the Samsung Galaxy S2 or Prime. My wife just got a 3D though and all of a sudden my og Evo feels slugish and out of date in comparison. I'd definitely shell out the cash for the 3D seeing as you will probably be spending the next 2 years with it.

Is the epic 4g going be the last smartphone with a full keyboard? I was kinda excited about the new epic 4g touch but without a keyboard I can't see myself getting it. A touch screen keyboard can never fully replace a real keyboard. I'm really hoping we a epic 4g 2 or a epic 3d.

I'm sure some manufacturer will make another keyboard phone. That's the beauty of Android, you can have different phone choices to satisfy a market niche.
Other than that, there's always Blackberry.

Ok, unless i'm mistaken (and please prove me wrong) the Photon does NOT have a slide out keyboard like the Epic. The only keyboard the Photon has is the webtop dock, something very few people would take advantage of...

It don't have a slide out keyboard just seen a few reviews on youtube. I guess the epic is the last slide out keyboard phone. Well I guess no upgrade for me

lol how can you assume it will be the last slide-out android phone?? they're still making them for other carriers, just not Sprint. But not much has come out yet for Sprint since the Epic, except for the Evo 3d. But I know they are coming out with the Droid 3 on Verizon, which has a slide-out. Don't give up hope. The true Epic upgrade will arrive someday. Let's hope with at least a 1.5Ghz processor and a LOT more internal memory and RAM.
EDIT: LG Optimus SLider is coming out this month for Sprint. SPH-M930 (slider) coming out in October.

They cycle the releases of phones with kb and no kb to maximize sales. So don't worry in a few months there will be another samsung phone with a kb. I'm the same way I will not get a phone without a kb again

Night and day between htc devices vs. samsung devices huh? Chrome dont peel on samsung. Screen actually last a full year without some weird shat like ghostly white dots with baby half bread cousin. Or just having the lcs crap out on the 31st day of purchase only to gave the CS repair boon give you a refurbished replacement. Or have a gpu with a hyper fance code,name that actually is the opposite of its true nature. (snapdragon = snapsnail). Yeah. Htc... Good job yu POS!
