Im a little tired right now, so when I read that I seriously lol'd. Which I thought never actually happened.
In other news, hardware has apexed, so maybe Das Googla will start focusing on a more consistent software pie chart.

hey i love sense to. i think its much better than stock droid and touchwiz!!
As far as froyo ofcourse iphone got it first..........iphone always gets the good stuff first and will be that way always sorry to say....
Fragmentation of phones is hurting android and always will!!! sad truth!!! And im talking about a hardware fragmentation more than os!
Also why would an Iphone user want froyo?? Apple Os ........and i know alot of people will crazy over this...........is much better than android and dev friendly!!
Remember google didnt make android they bought it for 50 million.........it was never a gaming platform. Wont be for a while! from what ive read
The iPhone has had froyo for a while now. Its just that everything had to be done via linux desktop os. All bootlace does is allow the flashing of openiboot and android from userland now.

anyone with experience with webOS? to me it seems like the poor man's android...what app options are there? flash support?
theyd be great with webOS
samsung is still throwing BADA devices out....so imagine webOS
The Os, at least the version that shipped on my pre, is the best mobile is i've used. Nothing else can give you true multitasking. But the lack of hardware support, which led to a lack of app support, made for a very frustrating experience. I missed it for a few months after i got the epic. Now I can't imagine not having the app support.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
I would love android to have a more webOS feel to it. While it always lacked the proper hardware and dev support. The os is solid.
From cellblock D
The only reason they are buying web os is the same reason google bought motorola mobile. They are just trying to gain patent ground against apple and all the lawsuits.
I don't think you will see any samsung phones with web os because of this purchase.
WebOS had a nice feel, but was not as stable as android in my exp. The lack of decent apps was a problem also. My pre was a horrible phone and I haven't really missed it or webos since getting my epic.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
webOs is honestly the best mobile OS I've ever used. It's so fun to just flick the apps away and has by far the best multitasking you'll ever see. They just needed better hardware and more apps. Otherwise, the funnest OS I've ever used.
Hell I even read somewhere that HP tried putting webOS on the iPad, and that it ran way faster than it ever did on the touchpad or any other HP/Palm device.
Its now october and we've yet to see any official gingerbread and sources, I've lost all respect to samsung and there dev team. They've had 2 chances for an ontime release and failed both. Competely agree. I like the hardware, samsung software support is terrible compared to htc and moto. Disappointed that samsung does not want to continue to support their hardware. Can't say I am jumping up and down to buy another samsung product (except maybe nexus) when my contract is up in a few months.

there samsung, all the reason you'll ever need.
Not a good enough reason. If you notice the dfferent versions of GB they've went through you'll understand that for every GB version 2.3, 2.3.2, 2.3.3, and 2.3.4; Samsung took a month to two months of testing and improving. GB been in the works since april/may starting with 2.3 and now we're at 2.3.4. And from the looks of it they're in the last month of testing and improving GB
Even though 2.3.7 is out apparently lol.
I however, could have misread.

It's all really simple if you think about it.
Icecream sandwich isn't out yet. Therefore we don't have gingerbread. The general rule of thumb with these phones has been always being one release behind.

If I wanted to be locked in to a manufacturer's software release schedule so I could ***** about delays on forums, I would have bought an iPhone. Instead, I bought an Android phone and have had Gingerbread for months.
I'm pretty happy with Froyo... ACS made it manageable.

Yes, Samsung has told this before, not really a "news"...
But hey, thanks to CM we will get in touch with ICS soon (or now if you want to use an alpha version), so there is no reason to worry about samsungs decision
That's complete bull from Samsung. They're own problem that they put touchwiz on the phone, and the default interface of ICS is much better. Poor, poor excuse.

At least they admitted that samsung developers are lousy and cannot optimize crappy TW for hardware will less RAM. So pathetic!
Still would go for a Samsung hardware phone, they're really good. Just a shame they won't be updating their older phones - which they are under no commitment to actually update.
Sent from my lag free CM7-nightly'd-up Galaxy S using the XDA Premium app
i would like to just point out that not upgrading the SGS line of devices to ICS because of TW or some crap like that is not the right way to go Samsung. You have pooor coders we know that but leaving out the flagship phone (sold over 15Million, LOT OF MONEY) is just plain BS. if you are not gonna upgrade it then GIVE US THE PROPRIETARY DRIVERS for RIL and CAMERA and our devs will do it themselves!!! Mind you that after this fiasco i am not buying (and also whoever i know) another samsung product again. Dont tell me you dont recognize the force of xda members as a community.

I doubt the next one will be Samsung the first two were HTC ( the g1 was kind of a nexus) so they'll probably go with another manufacturer as they try and keep it fair
Sent from my GT-I9000 using xda premium
And some ppl called me crazy when I said it's most unlikely we will get anything official.
To hell with Samsung, the i9000 has been a disaster from the day it was released. If it wasn't for custom roms it would be in the trash already.
Amen to that
If at least Failsung will release the source so the devs can keep making more stuff for our beloved phone!
Isn't there anyone powerful enough here on XDA to bring this to the attention of Samsung? We have a powerful community here and the Galaxy S was a flagship device!
Listen, Samsung; we don't care about Touchwiz. Just give us vanilla ICS! That's all we want!!!!! Our phone can EASILY handle it!!!!
They admitted TW is memory hog and is simply slowing down our phones. Get rid of that quick.
Hello,
Seems like Google's busy again huh?
Notable new features:
-Google Now enhanced
-Google Play enhanced
-Stock Video Player updated
-Project Road Runner to increase your battery life 3 folds
-and more!
Hopefully these improvements do not require any help from Samsung? Gawd if a new hwcomposer is needed etc then we will be out of luck since Samsung probably will ditch us after 4.1...
Let's hear your thoughts.

I find it hard to believe that road runner will be implemented to every device that gets the update. Nexus devices most certainly (they get everything) but I think the development to bring that to every device that's able to receive KLP will be too great and time consuming.

It is very possible it could be ported but if it is and there's no official release from Samsung for the i9100 its going to be very hard for the devs to pull apart the sources from another device, (say the i9300) and try to merge it together for ours. Most likely miss alot of key features. Like with JB devs cannot manage to get butter working, and their only hope is when JB is officially released, but even then there's rumours going around that the s3 won't even have a properly working project butter.

Precisely my point. If the LG is the only Nexus device released this time round (rumors point to 4 other devices by other brands), I can see XDAers gobbling up the LG Optimus Nexus.
The choice is much easier this time around, unlike the Galaxy Nexus which wasn't that much better spec wise than its contemporaries.

There's rumors of it as well, but personally at this current point in time I feel that the rumors for the LG Optimus Nexus are more "concrete",if that's the word for it.
Androidauthority has a write up on it:
http://www.androidauthority.com/galaxy-nexus-2-plus-gt-i9260-here-what-we-know-118932/
The specs don't look encouraging. It seems to be only a slight upgrade over the old i9250, and is packing a dual-core A9 CPU.
Now, I realize that not everyone goes for specs, but I'm a specs guy and the Optimus Nexus is the most exciting phone for me in quite a while. :fingers-crossed:

AFAIK, nobody knows how exactly it's supposed to work right? Maybe it's a rework of the software internals? If I have to guess, maybe it's a radical rewrite of the Dalvik VM to make it much more efficient, or aggressive optimization of Android OS itself.
There will be multiple nexus phones. Don't you guys read the latest news? The nexus program will see huge changes.
