Instant Phone upgrade & Unlimited Data - Verizon Customers - Nexus S General

Guys I just wanted to pass this along, I've checked it out and can verify this is legit, my friends have done the same.
I wanted to pass this along
check this out you can get this VIP Pass which gets you an instant phone upgrade, and you can get an Unlimited Data plan for new or existing Verizon customers. It's got good reviews.
MOD EDIT: link removed
Long Live Unlimited DATA!

Whoa I'm jealous. Wish there was anything remotely similar in Canada. Data prices are ridiculous here, so much my Nexus has always data disabled until I absolutely need it. :|

This seems....scammy.....for lack of a better term.

Definitely seems like a scam

At the very least it's spam in this forum, since the Nexus S can't be activated on Verizon.

Just purchased and wow its so great i had to get vip passes for my whole family.
We feel just like the Kardashians, VIP status!
Best part about it that it works with Sprint too!
Just Joking, Verizon does not have this. Its is indeed a clam.

Thread closed, if it looks to good to be true, it most likely is.

"Business Reasons" gets you Unlimited Data!

I bought my Atrix on launch day after having left ATT the previous June for Sprint (Evo). Before leaving I had an iPhone 3GS with unlimited data.
I called ATT yesterday to see if a simple phone call could restore my unlimited data plan instead of having to do the iphone 2g sim card trick. Long story short, I now have unlimited data again! Here is the key piece of information that I learned.
If you EVER had unlimited data, call ATT and kindly explain that you have a BUSINESS REASON for unlimited data. It will have to get approved by a manager, but I was specifically told that "business reason" is the key words you need to use to get the switch approved.
FYI: When I left ATT the first time, we had two phones on the account. One of the numbers, my wife's, stayed on the account. So, we technically didn't quit ATT for that year since my wife stayed with ATT. Not sure if thats relevant or not.
Good Luck!
EDIT: My "Business Reasons" were that I am an IT consultant and use my Atrix for remote access to clients. The CSR was very understanding and the manager practically auto-approved the change. I don't know for sure if having had unlimited data before is required or if simply having business needs for more data are enough. Anyone else care to give it a shot?
This was a news article a few weeks ago. AT&T wants to win any customers back.
I was able to get mine back just by asking for a supervisor, no reason needed.
Yea,........that didn't work so well for me. I have been trying to get mine back for months now. I even went as far as giving them the feature code for it. Just blew me off. Talked to two different supervisors.
I called and left a message with the AT&T office lady that called me about when I complained about the HSUPA. I am hoping on Monday, I can talk her into giving me it back. (with a little HSUPA thrown in the mix).

You won't get HSUPA, that's a software update on the phone, not on your account or anything to do with the towers near you. Good luck getting it back though!

Yea, I am aware of that......she is the one that called me when I complained about the Atrix not having it. I figure while I call and ask for an update on when we will be receiving that, maybe I will hit her up for putting the unlimited data back on for me as a good deed for not giving us HSUPA right away.
I can confirm this did not work for me :'( back to 2g trick for me, if only I can find someone to let me borrow.
I really hope this works. Def will try tomorrow cuz I use to have unlimited data for my iPhone but when I switched over to the Attic they forced me to get rid of it! Blower!

If you had unlimited data for your iPhone and switched to the Atrix and maybe were told by a rep in an AT&T store that for some reason you couldn't keep it, you were fooled. I'd go back into an AT&T store.... possibly a different one, and inquire about it. I had a whole mess to go through when i activated my Atrix (ordered it with one of my parent's upgrades, so i wouldn't have to pay full price).... and at first it was activated under my mom's number.... so they had to reassign her iPhone to her number, then when they assigned the Atrix to my number, she showed me the overview of the services for my phone number, at which point i noticed that it was no longer under the unlimited plan. She called someone, and mentioned this to them..... and they changed it over on their end. I guess they might have a way of looking up whether or not you actually did have it previously.... but either way, you SHOULD have been able to keep your unlimited plan. I think even when i thought about pre-ordering it online before it's release, it had the unlimited data plan in the list and auto-selected.

I thought that was the case. I called AT&T and told them that I use to have unlimited data and told them that I usually go over 2gb before my cycle is up and after talking to several reps, they finally reactivated it! Thanks a lot for this thread because having only 2gb of data a month was really starting to aggravate me...

HAHAHA! I hate autocorrect on this phone sometimes.... #FAIL
That's why i like Swype. type Atrix in manually.... and it remembers it. TADA!
Not to mention after a few uses, it's easy as hell.... and quite often more accurate than the multitouch keyboard. so used to typing really quick with my ex-iPhone 4 and having auto-correct fix some minor mistakes..... then going to Android's multitouch keyboard which seems to have not much of any autocorrect for most stuff.... found myself using the backspace button rather often.

what did you do to get this done? can you give us some details?
In his comment on the previous page, he said when he bought his Atrix, he was told he could not keep his unlimited plan, which was a lie. That's it... Plain & simple. Not some workaround... Just fixing a mistake by an ill-informed representative.

Unlimited data plan for Atrix with tethering? Is it possible?
Hi - I just moved from iphone 4 unlimited data to Atrix 4G and was told that, in order to add tethering, I couldn't have unlmited data anymore. Does anybody know if there is a way around this? I wanted to add tethering so i could get rid of my dedicated USB modem (and the $60/month charge) and, hoping to see 4G speeds sooner rather than later on the atrix, an Atrix Hotspot would give me better speeds than the USD modem.
I know you can go unlimited iphone to unlimited Atrix but can you do that and have tethering? Any advice would be appreciated.
Only way to tether and have unlimited is with one of the workarounds. Not exactly sure what they are though. unlimited + tethering from AT&T themselves would be like voluntary network suicide.

so did anyone else get this to work besides main poster?
i shall take some advice from here as i will soon be getting "the worlds most powerful smartphone". on a 2GB cap. what kind of ****ery is that. but i guess.
i will go a month with the 2 GB cap, then call in enraged that i only have a 2GB cap. lol. see how it goes.

FCC wants your feedback on Tmobile buyout by AT&T

Guys,
FCC is looking for the opinions from general people like us on the T-mobile-ATT deal. Checkout the links for more info :
http://www.tmonews.com/2011/04/make-your-voice-heard-tell-the-fcc-how-you-feel/

This is a great opportunity to fight the greedy At&t and stop the GSM monopoly in USA
Thanks for the heads up! Done.
I think its a bunch of bs. Its just them making us think we have a voice in this whole ordeal; in the end
this is big business and it all boils down to dollars. Just a masquerade.

Let's hope this deal fails
I honestly dont care. I moved to tmobile to get away from the lies, trickery, and robbery. Turns out they are a company just like att with worse service.
I was made many promises before my contract, not one of them were true. Now I'm locked in my contract and they won't even try to make anything right even though all the proof given. They just say, "sorry there is nothing we can do for you, and we are not obligated to fulfill the promises the representatives gave you. We are truly sorry you were lied to."
I've heard that line 8 times from managers! I've given up, I'm finishing up my contract or canceling when the money becomes available and moving to verizon. At least ill have the services I pay for.
So far I've noticed that most companies dont care about right or wrong, only who gets the benefits. Sooner this is learned, the less hard life will be.

AT&T may have bad customer service, but their coverage sure wrecks T-Mobile's.
I borrowed my friend's SIM a few weeks ago when I was going on a trip to Washington DC (from Dallas), and I wanted to have 3G where we went.
My mom's Vibrant, was constantly losing 3G signal.
My Vibrant, running on the 1900 band on AT&T, lost 3G signal ONCE for about 15 seconds, then came back.
Only thing with AT&T is, that their plans are expensive
(funny story, I went to a AT&T store to see how much a plan would be with them, and apparently, their texting plan offers unlimited Mobile to Mobile (who uses land lines except doctors, and offices?), and for 700 minutes, unlimited texting (with basically unlimited minutes), and 2GB data (never go over 1GB anyways, and I save $5!), I would pay $150 for 2 lines. That is $110 off what I pay now with T-Mo, and that's a DAMN good save)
and their customer service is bad.
They aren't that bad, and I am switching to AT&T because of that story.

[Info] Credit to AT&T bill for hsupa being locked

So, I was calling AT&T today because my phone all the sudden had data connection but would not make our receive calls/texts. I then told them I would like a two month credit on my primary line since HSUPA was locked on my 4G device. I told them I used my phone a lot for data purposes and was highly upset that my 4G phone wasn't even getting 3G speeds. I told them that I wanted a two month credit for my primary line wich is $69.99 a month and a two month credit for my unlimited data which is $30 a month. Long story short, my $270 cell phone bill this month is now $26.25! Just thought I would let everyone know so you can get your money back since you weren't receiving the service you were paying for.
Sent from my rooted, gingerblured badass atrix!
The reason I told them two months was because that was how long I had the phone before HSUPA was unlocked, just so everyone knows.
Sent from my rooted, gingerblured badass atrix!
Wow... I agree that At&t could have marketed the whole 4g thing a little better, but that seems a little entitled. I don't think everyone that brings it up will get the same results either.
But WOW... Demanding $200 because it took a little longer to upload your photos to facebook for a couple months?
I'm sure everyone on your twitter or facebook really needs to know what you're doing right now, but does a few seconds really matter?
I can't help but think that if less people called in with unreasonable credit expectations, all our bills might be just a little lower.

Well, none of our bills are getting any cheaper so I figure I'll take the money where I can get it.

I think you are missing the OP's point. AT&T lied to him/her about 4G availability on the Atrix because HSUPA was not enabled. Most of us can't be bothered to go through the bs it takes with AT&T to get phone bills reduced, so we just live with it. Kudos to the OP for getting a decent credit from them!

I definitely see nothing wrong from the OP about what he did. Honestly I wish AT&T would have done this for us from the beginning automatically. I was still paying the same amount as my iPhone and not even getting the 3G speeds I had on that because they wouldn't give me what I was paying for.
I just wish that at&t would have been up front about the capped upload speeds. I do know for a fact that I used the crap out of my atrix and I don't think they owe me anything off my bill. Capped upload or not, I still hit 6GB on my unlimited plan.
Sent from my MB860 using XDA Premium App
Are you kidding? The phone is called the "Atrix 4G". The "4G" network was up before the release of the phone, but the atrix 4G was not allowed to access it (which was not advertised). Of course everyone who bought the phone before the latest update is entitled to a refund of there data charges prior to the 4g update! I just got $90 refunded because AT&T also agrees with us, $139 to $42. Stop being so brainwashed and realize that you are entitled to what was advertised, you just have to grow a pair and stand up for yourself

Exactly! Anyone who didn't know they were not getting new tech or the fastest speeds around did absolutely NO research beyond the 4g marketing tagline. It just strikes me as insincere anger and a grab at a few bucks to say At&t owes us anything for it. They were right in saying that 99% of things done from the handset don't need HSUPA anyway. And they were pretty quick (by their usual glacial work speed anyway) to get the update out when they found out that doesn't wash with 99% of people (me included).
See here for a hilarious and much better stated explanation of my feelings on this.

Unlimited data from ATT via ebay seller?

I'm selling my unlimited ATT data for the ipad and while researching how much they go for, I ran into this guy who sells a service that makes your smartphone has unlimited data...
sounds to good to be true. I've honestly have never gone over the 2gb limit (closest was like 80%) so I'm not sure if it's worth it to me, but it got me curious...
is this really too good to be true? the feedback shows it's legit...
how does this guy pull it off?

not sure it's 100% legal, but I'm 99% sure you wouldn't get in trouble by doing it

read through the description.
if you're comfortable giving out billing information and the last 4 of your social (which is really giving complete account access, I think) to what is essentially a complete stranger, then good luck.
that said, there's a guy on eBay who also does the same thing but for $20, I believe.

Actually, yes it can.
Identity theft is a huge and growing problem and playing fast and loose with your own personal information is a very real risk. That is essentially what you are doing - handing over information that could allow them to do things in your name.
I know, it is not the same as giving him your CC or Social Security, but why take a chance? Also, he is taking advantage of a loophole that you can be sure will be closed by AT&T when they figure out what is being done. BTW, there is no "grandfathering" guaranteed in any cellular service. If you actually read the contracts, you will see they really can do anything they want to. So you could spend the money and go through the hassle only to get one or two months of service, then be back where you started.
And we all know eBay is a place filled with trustworthy and honest people, right?
I've used the service to get unlimited for my iPhone, although I switch back n forth with the nexus, and its legit. However, you can do it yourself with some research.

Unlimited Data With Verizon *4g Phones Only*

I am publicly posting this now because my monthly bill just came in and after I paid I still have unlimited data so its safe to assume that it is permanent.
Requirements:
1. 4G Capable Phone *I have 2 Galaxy Nexus(Nexi? Nexuses?)*
1. Dial 611 from you phone.
2. Press 4
3. Say "add feature"
4. When the rep gets on the phone, ask to add the 4G mobile hot-spot feature. *****IMPORTANT***** (If the rep says its $50 decline and call again until you get a rep that tells you $30)
5. Once added, go online and remove the mobile hotspot feature and you will be left with unlimited data for the price of whatever limited data plan you signed up for in the beginning.
6. ????
7. Profit
Rep: hello what can I help you with?
Me: I would like to add the 4g mobile hotspot to my line.
Rep: sure I can assist you. I see you have the galaxy nexus... we can add hotspot for $30.00
Me: Cool!
Rep: mobile hotspot has been added, anything else I can assist you with?
Me: That's it, thanks!
The next day, I removed the hot spot feature from my line on vz website and my plan still shows unlimited data. I have done this successfully with 2 of my personal phones and 3 of my buddy's phones.
Apparently I need 8 posts before I can post images so if a mod will pm me I can give him an image to attach that shows proof of this.
Good luck and enjoy!
-droidmahn
I'm thinking of switching to Verizon, good to know!
Hahaha that's so cool!
It does work or did for me, but the Q is do you want to bet $35 that it will work?
P.S I made a thread about how they need to fix there 4G:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1520970
Not sure I catch your meaning 4ktvs...
Also not to be a thanks whore but I am really trying to build up a good reputation here so if this helped you and you can find the time hitting the thanks button would be most appreciated
I thought they closed this
I did as well, but it still works then good. I meen I read this in a thread back in DEC 2011 and it worked for me on 2nd try.
The P.S is a thread I made about the nation-wide outages as well as State/ctiy/town and so on. It just does not seem up to the standards they talk so much about in store/TV.
Also today I activated a new Droid Razr Maxx and this worked again. Going to set up cousin with a new phone Tuesday and will do this again and update
Tried it again today. Works still. Used a Razr Maxx

Don't you think they're going to figure this out fairly soon and take away your unlimited data? You know how it goes--carrier screws up, you pay the price for discovering the loophole.
Doubt it but I dunno lol. Good luck finding me since I haven't got anything personal linked
Has anyone else done this? I'm thinknig of taking over my sister's contract and do this since her account was created after the unlimited plan's were stopped.
