left side of the N7 for? I assume they are for charging, but I wasn't aware there was any kind of dock that would use these available for the N7. Thanks.
Those are for NFC.

They're not for NFC and will indeed be used for docks - most likely carrying power and sound.

Uhhhh... No. NFC receiver is on the back under where it says "Nexus".
The pogo pins on the side are for a future dock accessory, similar to the Galaxy Nexus.
Before I even saw this I thought it would be for a dock.
The pogos pins are designed for a dock that should let you plug speaker and a charger

How do I use s beam on the nexus 7 and galaxy nexus I can't get it to work
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda premium
Well s beam is on the Galaxy SIII, but you can use android beam by making sure that you have NFC is turned on in the settings and android beam is also. Then you can tap the back of your phone against the upper part of the back of the Nexus 7

On both devices, GO TO SETTINGS > WIRELESS & NETWORKS > MORE > Check NFC
Hold the back of the Gnex up to the TOP RIGHT CORNER of the BACK of the Nexus 7.
You should hear a sound and prompt to 'beam' whatever it is. I tested with a webpage, works great.
Hope this helps. :good:
Weird isn't working maybe its the ROM I'm using jelly belly

I got it to work, also. It's very cool. Hold your two NFC devices together, back to back (make sure your phone is lined up with the top edge of the tablet). When they chime, look at the one you want to transmit from and touch the screen. Your information should transmit.

Has S-Beam been ported to the GNex? I think that's the root of the question. S Beam can transfer large files quickly while android beam is slow and only allows small files.
Hi,
I opened my nexus 7 to readjust the back cover so that it would not creak anymore. In the process, I accidently snapped one of the protruding tiny copper prongs/hooks off. The one closest to the four docking pins on the side of the nexus. It doesn't seem like it connects to anything so I'm not too worried, but is this a problem?
You're screwed
If I helped out, hit the thanks button.
It will make it so you can't use the dock but probably won't effect the actual tablet functions.

are you positive?

I appreciate the answer. Are you completely sure? Not that I'm ever going to use the dock but this still bothers me a little.

The dock is for charging and sound. The pin that broke could be one half of either. Either way its just for dock functions.

If things like a broken pogo pin connector are going to bother you, leave the case closed, leave well alone!

What up!
I was thinking about getting a charging dock for my Nexus 4 for my desk, and I don't feel like paying a lot of money for it as I have the charging orb on its way soon. I was thinking about getting a cheap one from DealExtreme, but they have none for the Nexus 4.
So do you think we could fit our device into a dock for the Galaxy Nexus, or maybe a flat one like the Note dock?
I was thinking this one: http://dx.com/p/portable-charging-d...e-for-samsung-galaxy-nexus-i9250-black-116667
Otherwise there is a lot of other docks here, what do you think?

Have you used any other docks with our device?
interesting... I would like to know too ^^
Exactly, I don't think the two phones has the same dimensions around the corners though, so I'm not sure if it would fit

No one tried something similar?

has anyone tried these docks with a case? the infuse dock is perfect if it could only fit with my case on.
I have the Galaxy Nexus dock and the Nexus 4 doesn't fit. Its too wide :/
Does anyone know of any desktop charging dock/cradle that will accommodate a Nexus 4 with the official bumper on it?

Technically, the LG charging orb functions with the official bumper, but in my experience my N4 slides off the orb with or without the bumper on it after working fine out of the box for about the first week. This is without a screen protector on the glass back.
I think what you might be looking for is the upcoming TYLT VU charger. It doesn't rely on friction to hold the device at an angle, and the bumper isn't going to interfere with the wireless charging circuitry.

That looks awesome. I'm looking for a more immediate solution. I might just have to go the DIY route using a plain ol' stand and micro USB charger.

Nexus 4 is such a well liked device. You guys think there will ever exist a back cover for the nexus 4, one that replaces the current glass back? However it'll be fixed to the phone just like the current glass back, but with a removable latch to exchange battery. Just wondering.
The battery is not hot swappable. There's a ribbon connected to the battery.

The battery's ribbon is secured by 2 screws, it should still be possible even if left without.

Is the ribbon soldered to the battery? If it's removable without much hassle, it might still be possible

But the battery is on the left side, nfc connectors can remain untouched if the cover latch is also put towards the left where the battery is

Would love a removable battery kit. Could care less about NFC or wireless charging.
