Buddy switching to ATT giving me his Alltel branded PPC6800 if I flash the dcd rom, 3.35 radio rom and vzw carrier cab should it work on verizon? Are there any other hurdles I might encounter?
Thanks,

i doubt you will get verizon to activate it since it isnt one of there esn's, thats one thing i like about alltel they will try and activate any esn you give them they dont care where it came from
Thought I would update for everyone: I got an Alltel PPC 6800 on VZW. Here's how:
1) Logged into VZW My Business Account
2) Account Maintenance
3) Step 1: Enter cellphone number, click search
4) Action: Activate Equipment
5) Enter HEX ESN from Alltel phone
6) Ran through http://ppc.stoleyour.net/xv6800/ instructions to update radio, rom and carrier cab (thanks to Lord Cruik Shank nice howto)
7) Ran through http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=20090 Steps 5 - 7 to load the DMU Key with QPST (thanks to drellisdee)
8) ##778 Edit Security HDR Password to HEX ESN
Everything seems to be working I haven't tested the speed but EV stays on the screen. I also haven't test GPS yet. Will report back later.
Wow that is crazy......I can not wait to hear more...I had no idea that was possible....I did not realize alltel used GSM I thought they were CDMA. Does that phone have a sim card?
Ahhh.
Major USA CDMA Providers: Sprint, VZW, Alltel, Cricket that i can think of.
Major USA GSM Providers: T-Mobile, ATT ahhhh not sure
Not to mention VZW just purchased Alltel last month. But really you could can use any CDMA Titan (6800) on any CDMA carrier, if you can get the ESN on the network, and the right programming.
CDMA is more popular in the USA because the coverage area is better than GSM. Although I wish it was the opposite way around. GSM providers are alot more open on the device side.

hello, i am new to this forum.do not know whether there is already a thread running on this topis.has anybody been successful in unlocking the sprint version of HTC touch diamond?
There is no such thing as a locked CDMA phone. Any CDMA phone can be used on any CDMA carrier, as long as the carrier agrees to allow that phone on their network.
If you need to get a hold of the MSL/SPC code, google a program called GetSPC.
I want to get a Magic, but I am on Telus, in Canada.
I know that when I was on their CDMA network with my Touch Diamond, I had to be careful which ROMS I falshed, and that they were compatible with my network and such.
Is it the same case for the Magic and a HSPA network that actually uses a SIM card?
ok
so i managed to get my hands on a tata network prl
i used qpts and cdma workshop to upload the prl and configure the dx to tata as the home network
wasn't that hard and the
'http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=708937
How to Flash MOTOROLA DROID to Cricket: 2.2 Froyo FULL apps, web, mms'
did point me in the right direction
so with a little help from different webpages different guides i managed the configuration
after that i went to the tata service center
they after a little convincing agreed to do an ESN swap from
they activate a virtual sim and then swap the ESN to the DX
the dx gets activated within a day
then you manually enter the mdn ( the mobile number without any prefix)
the min ( provided to you by the service provider in this case tata)
and an A-Key ( provided to you by the service provider again tata)
once entered and the ESN swap has been doen the prl gets updated automatically over the air and you do not face any problems in the future
the settings get transfered immediately
i am yet to try all the features but plan on starting soon
hope all the people who have DX and need to change carriers manage their way
the hard part is in obtaining the prl after that its all simple
for people with a DX in india you can get the tata prl from
http://www.rimweb.in/forums/topic/12973-unlocking-htc-p3000-s720-for-tata/
a reliance site giving the tata prl
i used this guide for the qpst settings to shift to tata
OLD
[I ordered an droid x from usa
i got it today and to my dissapointment it runs only on cdma that to with out the uim/sim
so now i need a way to configure my dx to connect to a reliance or tata network and register with them
i own a nexus one and love hacking modding it and will flash the dx using the noob guide of dx but after that how do i configure it to register with the cdma networks over here ... Thank you in advance for your help]
I don't know if I got the question correct, but I think you are asking how you can make the Droid X use a SIM card instead of CDMA? If so I believe this is impossible. Its more than just software it also involves alot of hardware that would have to be made especially for a SIM card.
not really I know that the DX ordered is locked to the verizon network.... Now the DX can't be changed from a no sim based cdma to a sim based GPRS/3.5g network carrier obviously ... so i need some one to help me configure the dx to reliance or tata network in india ... they both are cdma how ever i need a guide to the settings ... the prl min esn mdn these terms i have no clue what they are and what values should be entered when i m changing the carrier from verizon to reliance or tata
there are guides which give all details for the cricket network but that doesn t really solve my problem
