I want to get a Magic, but I am on Telus, in Canada.
I know that when I was on their CDMA network with my Touch Diamond, I had to be careful which ROMS I falshed, and that they were compatible with my network and such.
Is it the same case for the Magic and a HSPA network that actually uses a SIM card?

Hi
my sister bought from US a verizon xv6900 and now I want to use it in a different country?is it anyway to remove this cover on slot and insert a sim in it or the sim card slot is not working for this device?
thank you for your helps.
No, there isn't. An xv6900, and most phones on Verizon's CDMA network, do not use a SIM card. You will not be able to use this phone in Europe. There are no Verizon compatible networks there. Some of Verizon's phones have both a CDMA and a GSM radio in them, so they will work on both types of networks. The xv6900 is not one of them.
Verizon uses a cellular technology called CDMA, which is completely incompatible with the technology used in Europe, GSM.
ok....bad news
thank you very much...
hey i was wondering if i take my g1 to argentina, could it be used with any other gsm carrier. iknow that argentina has a network called, CTI, and they use sim cards. my phone is rooted but does that mean i can use it with other gsm carriers???
have a 2 Optimus quantum phones, one never gets 3g, or H, data doesn't seem to work at all (i changed APN settings to fido)
could this be do to old sim card? its really old before 3g network existed, when edge was early
other phone works ok, setup in identical way but sim card is newer from an iPhone 3g i had
so as question above says could it just be due to an old sim card?
Swap the working SIM card between phones and you will have your answer
I think you guessed it. My network (Rogers) required new SIM cards to work on their 3G network. Your carrier may have the same situation.
In my case, Rogers was happy to swap the old SIM for a new one.
Hiya...
I have an unlocked Mytouch 4g (HTC Glacier). When I put my Virgin Mobile Canada (same network as Telus and Bell) SIM card in, none of the above three networks are available -- only AT&T, T-Mobile and some mystery network show up. I've tried various ROMs, including the latest MIUI, CM7 and CM9. I thought the Bell bands were supported. Do I need to flash a different radio, perhaps? Any leads greatly appreciated.

ps. the SIM card is good. I can see the Bell network with the same card on an unlocked Samsung Skyrocket.
The bands don't seem to be the issue. GSM bands are 100% supported, and one of the 3G bands is supported (2100).
Thanks for your reply.
I just can't seem to get it it see the Telus/Bell/Virgin Mobile Canada network. It can see Rogers, AT&T and T-Mobile (I'm near the US border), but not what I want. I've tried flashing the Panache radio, as well as different ROMS (including T-Mobile's stock Gingerbread as well as stock Froyo). I've tried several different SIM cards just to see if any of them would show the network. I remembered that I had my phone only foreign-SIM card unlocked by T-Mobile so I purchased a proper unlock code cellunlocker.net, but I can't get the phone to prompt me for an unlock code since it wasn't on stock. That's why I tried flashing to stock, hoping that I could get a SIM card unlock prompt, to no avail. Perhaps that has something to do with the T-mobile foreign card unlock already having been done, irrespective of ROM? Anyhow, I somewhat suspect this might be the issue, as it's the only thing I can think of besides unsupported bands, which you say is not the issue, or radio, which I've already tried. (Panache runs on the Telus/Bell network too).
I'm at a loss. I've put in about 8 hours to salvage my $150 phone. Virgin Mobile is the only real well-priced option here on Vancouver Island offering 3G or better. Funny thing is, if I were to buy a new phone, I'd probably want the same one (it's for my wife), but I don't know if the issue is specific to my phone or if I'd get the same problem.
Any further thoughts or input would be *greatly* appreciated... this has been one of those truly hair-pulling experiences.

Turns out they *are* incompatible bands. I didn't read the specs properly enough.
