CM 9.1.0. The last release was 9.0
Enviado desde mi LT15i usando Tapatalk 2
Hello can anyone givme totorial how to instal CyanogenMod 9.1.0 on my xperia arc s
Android version on my phone is 4.0.4 LT18i 4.1.B.0.587
1)extract the boot.img from the cm9 rom downloaded
2)put in the sdcard the cm9 rom
3)flash kernel(boot.img) from fastboot mode with adb: put the boot.img in the "platform-tools" directory of your adb, then from terminal launch command fastboot flash boot boot.img
4)go into recovery and do a full wipe(data/factory reset, cache partiton and dalvik cache)
5)flash throught recovery the cm9 rom with "install from sd" and wait the finish
6)reboot and enjoy
7)*not sure*, if you have arc s, after boot install from market "no frills cpu" and check frequency of cpu, if it says 1ghz, you must oc it to 1.4 ghz to have the original arc s cpu freq

You must extract THE boot.img from the cm9.rar archive. And that boot.img file you must copy into the fastboot folder. After that you copy the initial downloaded cm9.rar file on you phone's sd card.
And to avoid some question, the bootloader must be unlock, you must be root, a backup must be done before (clockmodwork and TB)

Hey guys I noticed people having problems restoring a back-up after testing CM 7
So here it is; switching ROMs with NO data loss
The deal is CM7 has is own kernel and there fore his own recovery.
Back ups made in another kernel ( and this means other CWM ) can not get restored with CM7 kernel.
And of course the other way around.
what you can do to easy test CM 7 and get back
- make nandroid backup with your own CWM, probarbly Doom kernel
- flash and test CM 7
- take the ''boot.img'' from the download of your kernel you had before testing CM7
- place it in your fastboot folder
- connect phone in fastboot
- in fastboot issue the command ''fastboot boot boot.img''
- the phone wil reboot, now dont let it boot but enter recovery
- you are now in the same recovery where you made your back up, so just restore it.
all done
---------- Post added at 05:14 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:12 PM ----------
you can also do this the other way around :
[ UNTESTED ]
- make nandroid backup with CWM in CM7 kernel
- restore stock as stated above
- take the ''boot.img'' from the download CM7
- place it in your fastboot folder
- connect phone in fastboot
- in fastboot issue the command ''fastboot boot boot.img''
- the phone wil reboot, now dont let it boot, but enter recovery
- you are now in the CM7 recovery so you can restore CM7 back up and go back to testing
hi can u tell me exactly wht are the issues restoring backups when using latest CWM 4.0.1.5?
thatt is not the back up used in CM7 and as far as I know you cant take a back up made with CWM 4.0.1.5 and restore it with CWM included in CM7 right ?
or is it already possible at the moment ( been away for a while )

I dont think that that is going to work but it is worth a shot.
The advantage is : when it is done you can switch roms without the need of a PC ( and a bit faster and easier )

yes but if doomlord and CM7 use the same recovery than we wont have to change the boot.img right?
because you can restore your system from CM7 to stock without flashing boot.img
you just boot it and than restore after that the phone will reboot in boot.img that was already on the phone
not the one you booted this one time to get in CWM
As far as I no cm7 kernel will not work on stock rom and doomkernel will not work wit cm7 rom
So even if we get same cwm on both neither will boot others rom and you will still have to use fastboot to change kernels because kernels are not compatible with both
This is how I understand it to be ,im no expert tho
Can someone confirm this

my kernel MIGHT NOT work on CM7 as it requires a diff ramdisk... it will boot but some CM7 features/functions might be broken...

i´m downloading it right now, and will test it in one hour and i will say someting here...
It doesn't install, always Error status 6 in CWM. I replaced the METAINF folder in the zip with aurora, and changed the name of the zip itself, then it installs, but doesn't boot...
Next, I replaced the boot.img inside with the 3.0.8_v2 from DZO, then it boots but never goes further than boot animation
It is not rom development if you just switch some of the files, compress the file into a .zip and post it here.
Can anyone have a look at it and help me? I think the problen is the updater script, because i've only copied the one from aurora.

i have only one problem. the guide says the Easiest way to replace the kernel is to take a kernel update zip for your device, un-zip it and rename the zImage file to "boot.img-kernel" and copy and replace the file of the same name in your directory.
but when i take the boot.img-kernel from the unpacked aurora boot.img, it has 2,6 mb, but when i rename the packed boot.img from aurora to boot.img-kernel it has 3.0 mb. which one should i take?

Boot.img is ramdisk and kernel, compiled into one. You need kernel.
Unpack both boot images, replace kernel with auroras and change init.rc scripts to mount the correct partitions.
On mobile now so can't give a tutorial.

Nope, sorry, I don't do the kernel stuff. I guess someone could come up with a workaround though.
lets try
is franco can do something ins this kernel will be perfect!
Kernel by itself is no good for development. You need sources. Best idea I have had was to pull the relevant commits and fixes from DZO's 3.08 ICS kernel and Buckingtons ICS .35 kernel and put them into the proper .35 source, but it takes more time than I have to do. Plus, I am not sure we really have any need for a gingerbread kernel now, ICS is where it is at dev wise sad though that is. We have skipped a kernel iteration due to Huawei mucking up the sources and official gingerbread so much.
https://github.com/dzo/kernel_huawei
https://github.com/franciscofranco/kernel_huawei
https://github.com/TomGiordano/kernel_huawei/tree/2.6.35-ics
This one might be a good base:
https://github.com/TomGiordano/kernel_huawei
It is just about pulling the best bits from the kernel trees and testing, testing testing. FJSferreria? had a guide to compiling the 3.08 kernel source from DZO which should work fine for the .35 kernel too.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1577876
Where this kernel could work is in extracting the relevant defconfig from it to build a working .35 kernel from. instead of 'make u8800_defconfig', we would pull the config from the phone, back it up, copy it into the build directory and rename it to '.config' and just run the 'make' command.
Can anyone pull /proc/config.gz and upload it for me?
Cheers

I tried all kinds of guides. I got a folder with all the stuff I tried to root B528 with, it includes: DooMLoRD_v4, rooted boot image, some Chinese rooting tools, and about 4 different set of drivers. Th problem I have is the drivers won't install, I get an error: "Driver not intended for this platform." If I could get the drivers working, then I could root.

Install ROM.
Fix Permissions.
IN ORDER TO GET YOUR ROM TO WORK PROPERLY YOU MUST DOWNLOAD : http://www.mediafire.com/?uci2qcrie6lnian
They are some extra files that i removed from system/app in order to make the ROM smaller and upload it on mediafire. Just download them and either move them to system/app before installation or push the to system/app after installation and set permission using Root Explorer.
This rar file contains 2 folders:
1)Extras. These are files you may want to add to your ROM but they are NOT needed.
2)Needed. These are files that are NEEDED in order your ROM to work properly.

I already said that 4.2 WILL NOT get released,at least for now so no word about that.
I tried to install the rom and now the phone doesn't work anymore, I can't get into recovery, the image folder exists but does not go into recovery, you can know what happened? is this a joke?

Followed the instructions and installed the rom, and now my phone stays at the Huawei logo for few seconds and reboots and I can't boot it to the recovery to install other roms...

How are the results for you? Is it smooth enough? Could you provide some screenshots for the 1st post please?
Does it mean that the phone still be able to boot after flashing the rom(without needed files) from cwm but I have to move the needed files to system/app then to make it work properly?
Am I right?

Nope. We dont have a coder right now so all modifications were done by me to have a stable ICS. I took the zip that bronxitas made and added tweaks and removed files to make it faster and smoother. So i thought it would work because that zip was working fine.
