Hi Guys!
I was on holiday recently, and my good ol' tablet slipped out of my hands - onto concrete. Unfortunately, I was a bit puzzled to find the screen completely cracked, although it was wrapped in its case and fell from approx. 80cm.
I decided to buy a cheap digitizer replacement from ebay and well... tried to rescue it. I hope the recorded video may help one or another who find themselves in the same situation. The repair was a success, and my tablet is fully functional once again :fingers-crossed:
First time that I did something like that. Hope it helps everyone who wants to repair the tablet him- or herself.
Have fun watching!

Hi all, I am really really hoping that someone here can help me. I dropped my HD2 today and the screen just shattered. I rang HTC but since the phone has not been launched here in Australia they can not help me. I need to get a new screen but have no idea where from. Can anyone please help me on where to get a replacement screen. I was shocked at how the screen shattered, But I guess thats what happens with glass..lol..Thank in advance for any help
This is the drawback with glass screens, you get much better resistance to scratches but it becomes much more liable to shattering or cracking when dropped. A work colleague has had this happen to two separate iPhones.
As for your issue I can't really help, I doubt anyone else can either - given how new the phone is it's unlikely there is any means of getting the screen replaced outside of HTC doing the job even if you lived in a country where it's been released. However, I will suggest the first thing you do when and if you get it replaced is buy some sort of cover, this will reduce the chances of a screen shatter on being dropped dramatically. Here is the one I have purchased, it should be arriving today.

Thanks mate, I have a cover and screen protector on it's way which I ordered on the weekend..bummer it's too late eh..lol..if all else fails I will buy another one and claim it on insurance if I can and either keep the old one for a spare or try and sell it for parts..it still works perfect just has a shattered screen .but thanks for your input mate, I appreciate it
I noticed that they still work too, both my colleague's iPhones (he dropped and broke both in work in the space of a few months) still had fully functioning touchscreens despite the glass being completely shattered.
Yeah it's funny how they still work fine. My old Samsung HD bounced about 3 times and went for a skid..lol..Just found out that I can claim it on my House insurance which will get me a new one..This time I will have a cover ready for it
Hi all, I cracked the screen on my HD2 a few days ago and have been eagerly reading the reports of how to replace the digitiser, etc. I'm working up the courage (and getting the tools) to do it, but in the meantime the digitiser and screen are perfectly functional, if a little bit unsightly. I thought I'd get hold of a screen protector in the meantime so I don't end up with bits of glass in my fngers, etc. Any recommendations of a form fitting protector (or form fitting case) that would fit the bill? Ideally it would cover the bezel around the buttons too, because one corner of it is quite chipped. The pics on ebay are kind of hard to tell from. Any advice much appreciated!
I might be too late as you mentioned that you already getting the tools to fix it yourself. There are specialty repair shops that fix screens, I heard they are not too expensive. I don't know the exact price, but someone with a broken nexus one got his phone fixed this way. Do you mind telling how you cracked your screen, was it your negligence or is it too fragile?
I'm not looking for info about how to repair - I've read those threads. I'm interested in the best temporary fix for the meantime.
The cracked screen is largely due to negligence... dropped it outside. Woulda been nice if the phone was a little more sturdy, but can't expect much better. And thank God it still works just fine as far as I can tell. Gonna be more careful now...
Hello ppl, i broke my lcd screen on my xperia...
i had the phone in the kit bag whilst playing cricket and out of all the places the ball rolled and hit the pocket my phone was in!!! I ran knowing the screen will be peices and it was. The screen is still functioning, im able to view the screen and it is responsive to touch. Its turned out like an iphone with a broken screen if anybodys seen one the outer glass is cracked.
I brought the phone from ebay sim-free, i just want to know if anybody knows where to purchase a replacement screen?
I've searched on ebay but no luck
**** :-/ So Sorry
I can't help, I googled but could not find a replacement screen for X10
Mobile dealers can help i think... GOOD LUCK anyway
dealextreme.com search sony x10, there is a case replacement
May this one work?
It´s only the housing, not the screen.
There's a recently closed listing for an X10 digitizer (white) on ebay. Suggest you keep searching, and grab one as soon as you get the chance.

think i'll just have to wait for something to pop up on ebay....
I recently dropped my phone and it cracked the screen and apparently messed up the digitizer because it won't recognize my touch on certain parts of the screen. My question is I would like to fix it but I'm not sure where I can get one that is good quality? If anyone knows or has replaced this please give me any information you can.
First its not an easy fix. YouTube has guides on how to do this. As for the screen/digitizer eBay would be your best bet. My advice if you don't want to do it your self malls sometimes have kiosks that will do it. If your going to do it yourself take your time and heat is your friend.
Hi there,
After 8 long years, I finally managed to drop my beloved Nexus 4 on the ground. Front glass was smashed, lhe LCD was still working fine but the digitizer was not.
I ordered a new screen (chassis/LCD/digitizer) on Aliexpress for $20, replaced the components into the new frame only to find out that the digitzer was still not working.
After a bit of googling, I made it work by following Morteza's advice over at ifixit.com but that's not a long term solution or even a medium one.
Basically, I had to :
plug the broken digitizer
power on the phone
hotswap the broken digitizer with the new one
touchscreen was finally working !
... until I rebooted the phone and then I had to repeat all the steps above
I know it's time to let it go, I don't really want to spend another $20 without assurance I will work, but I don't know, maybe someone has a solution.
Thanks
