My phone screen shattered. The touch response is fine, I think only the outer glass is broken. Is it possible to get it replaced? Will Samsung fix it, if yes then for how much. I live in Delhi if that's any help.

^If your phone is under warranty and you're convincing enough, they'll replace it for free.
Else it'll cost you approx 1.5k for a new screen panel.

Also am pretty sure those guys would ask around 2k at first. Make sure to bargain and bring them down to around the price that I mentioned in the previous post. Good Luck.

The final bill was 2.5k. Bangalore is he it hub that must be why it is cheaper there. Was thinking of getting a white cover.
First my G3 showed weird colours onscreen and would not boot and I tried atleast six times.
The next day I showed to my friends how poor service samsung gives but my phone miraculously came back to life only to make fun of me. Only this time I had booted it without a sim. Now its working as well as ever.

I've cracked my screen
Went go-karting today and got thrown around so much in the kart that the screen cracked.
So, what's the best way about getting it repaired?
Can I just send it straight back to HTC UK and get the screen replaced under warranty? My phone is rooted, but not unlocked.
I have not returned a phone yet, but as many have stated, "it does not void your warranty to root, only to unlock the bootloader" so in theory you should just be able to send it in.
.....except that warranty won't cover a cracked screen.. I think the going rate was $280?
are you insured through assurion?
You broke it, you buy it.

I dropped my N1 on the floor in my house (stone floors) two weeks ago and cracked the glass screen.. picked up a new glass screen on ebay for $38 shipped and spent about two hours replacing it myself.. turned out perfect.. just be very patient and take your time during the replacement process.
This is the damage, I don't think the glass is broken so is it just the LCD screen beneath that I'll need to replace?

No, it's the digitizer/screen. The display would be a lot more expensive to replace.
Hi mate.. if the amoled still works you are fine yiu would just need a new digitalizer, about £20 from ebay and fix it youself.. if the amolded wkrks you need a new lcd, £45 from ebay.. i nroke my amoled, fixed it and now works.. good luck!!

If that's the case, then why when I power it on does nothing appear?
It vibrates when booting so I know its working?
when i dropped my nexus one, the amoled broke, not the outer screen/digitizer. i believe the cost for a new amoled was around $85 plus shipping and it would also cost your warranty. therefore, i sent it back in for repair and it cost $115 total, warranty still intact. btw, i opted for a refurb unit instead of waiting for them to return my damaged unit.
good luck, you have to decide if its worth voiding your warranty to fix it yourself.

Sorry I missed that part.. Yeah if it's not showing anything the display has problems, although I find it odd it would break but not the digitizer.

It is gonna be high! You wille get 3 options..1) fix the phone for a very high price 2) get the phone and pay around $40 for the labour and delivery 3) dispose of the phone for free by htc.. so pretty much re use the parts for another phone..
Not a sencible choice calling htc in my opinion

Having searched the internets I've found reports of people having it fixed by HTC UK for between £60 - £100
Also, I was told if I didn't want them to carry out the work there would be a £20 fee to return the phone to cover postage and the engineers time.
I think you're estimates are way off, however, I'm going to wait until I get my quote or I'll be eating my words...

I'm impressed t0ph0id, I accidently got a slight scratch on my week old N1, it's small but I know it's there and I'm really upset about it.
You have properly screwed the screen and you seem ok with it
Wish I could be as relaxed as that haha.
Hey buddy i had the same issue with my desire.. cracked in a similar way, HTC quoted me £238 for screen, housing, new logic board & labour.. even asked them just to replaced the screen cos i did see anything wrong with the housing but they said they couldn't do it cos motherboard had been bent..
so just got a replacement lcd from ebay at £45, took 45mins to fit the new screen everything working correctly
oh and the logic board wasn't bent! cheeky HTC

I've already spoken my mobile insurance and they repair/replace accidental damage so I know I can go through them if it's going to cost too much.
They'll repair, replace, give an alternative if they don't have the model or give a cash equivalent.

I'm pretty sure I cracked my LCD but before I go on a man hunt I figured I'd check here first.
I tripped and rolled on my phone yesterday causing this to happen, when I turn on my Nexus you get a few colors but mostly the screen is black. The top glass is not broken.
I called HTC (my phone is still under warranty) and they said it'd be 155 bones to get it fixed.
Any idea where I can buy the LCD to fix this myself for cheaper?
I searched but couldn't find anything really.
this, this or this?
I have a broken one too, fell 2 floors down from stairs onto marble floor, though only amoled broke and i bought a new one for $100 cuz it was the only one who shipped to my country
Yep sounds like your LCD is broken. It's an easy enough fix if you wish to do it yourself, you should be able to get one on eBay for relatively cheap. I've actually got one spare that works perfectly if you want it. I'm based in the UK so it may be cheaper to get one on eBay if you're not around the same area.

Supposedly they've had issues with people using their nexus and the LCD just breaking underneath the glass and that's what the rep said they would put in the ticket even though I had told them the real story.

Good stuff, sounds like you got a pretty decent rep to handle yours
I just had this same repair done by HTC. On the first information-gathering call to HTC, the rep told me I'd be without my phone for 2-3 weeks. So then I considered trying to repair it myself using an AMOLED screen from ebay, but saw they ship from China and didn't feel like waiting for that either.
In the end, HTC pointed out that they could ship me a replacement phone before I sent mine in. I received a working phone two days later, shipped mine and then approved the "repair" via a support website. Obviously, they then repair the damaged phone and dump it into the repair pool.
It cost $115 and I was very happy with the process.
Hope all goes well with the free repair!
So, I called in today to check the status. My nexus is on it's way back repaired and all...FREE OF CHARGE.

Congrats. HTC has been pretty great about service with the N1.
Just dropped my Nexus S and have cracked the screen. Suffice to say I am not very happy at the moment
It seems that its just the front panel that is cracked, as the phone still functions as normal.
However according to iFixit " If you shatter the front panel glass, the SAMOLED has to be replaced as well -- they're fused together."
Anyone else done this yet?
If so how did you go about fixing it?
Ive had a quick search and cant find anywhere that supplies the parts...so not really sure what to do about it.

Warranty only covers hardware flaws. Insurance (should) cover accidental damage.
Unfortunately I dont have insurance.
Had it on my Hero for 18 months and never used it, even with me dropping it quite a lot. Turns out that the Nexus S is a lot more fragile.
BTW, I got a quote from Mobile Repair Services (posted earlier in the thread) of £110 to repair it.
wow,sucks man.
i dropped mine D; couple of times.but its still all fine :3
I also dropped mine a few times before (even once on concrete) and it was fine.
Seems that this time it just hit the ground in the wrong way.

Replaced with a screen from Ebay for ~110 dollar.
Hi,
I have a NC that my youngest one dropped on the floor and put a hairline crack across the screen. Everything works still, except the top half of the screen doesn't respond to touch inputs. I can get around most everything in the menus by a combination of rotating to get to the button i need, but playing any games or browsing is impossible.
Is there any way to replace the NC screen? I've looked online and most everyone has recommended either just buying a refurbished one as a full replacement, or upgrading to something new. I've also seen a couple companies offering screen replacement service but at $110 it doesn't make a whole lot of sense to do that when I can get a refurb for around that price.
So are there any other options? Could I get a parts one off ebay and swap screens? I know there are videos of disassembly out there.
If this was yours, what would you do?
I'll upload pics of the screen here in a little bit if that will help.
Thank you

If your nook is already out of warranty or still in warranty you can trade in your broken nook color for a new one just add $80-100 (I forgot the exact price). Benefits: comes with a new 1 year warranty and it' s new not a refurb :good:
Depending on when yours was made, this might work for you.

It's a replacement digitizer and LCD. Keep in mind that those seem pretty rare.

Repairing screen will cost around €100 from official distributes, but you can try to repair on an electronic repair shop (one who repair smartphone parts), maybe you can have more luck with the price.
In last case buy new phone. (Don't buy J500H )

That wouldn't bother if its cheap at least u have a phone bro
Hi, this topic is as close to my problem as I can get. I have bought a new screen for my Samsung J530F and have removed the scattered screen. However, when I placed the new one and tried to turn the phone on, the display works only in the sense of showing stuff, but is not touch-responsive, ie I cannot control the phone.
My rather noobie and perhaps stupid question is: is the display supposed to work rightaway, or shall I assemble the phone fully before the touch-control kicks in?
I don't really care about the phone, it's the data that are inside. Most of it is on a SD card, so I'm fine, but some pieces in the internal memory are valuable for me (but not worth 100 euros for a new screen in a repair shop).
Anyway, I bought a cheap screen to give it a try - it's the TFT version. Perhaps that could play a role?
Thanks in advance for any help or nudge!
