No
Definitely no. The Kindle Fire has completely different hardware than the Nexus 7.

I'm putting this in general because there is no Q&A, why is that?
I'm going to be receiving the x-former in a couple of days, and I just wan to know where to start.
Should I just leave it alone, or root?
Should I custom ROM it up?
I also have a Samsung Captivate with CyanogenMod 7, currently in nightly. My point is I'm not new to the android game, I just want your opinion, is there and need to bring my x-former to the dark side, or is it already capable enough?
I would suggest you try it out for a while and see if you need to root it. Unlike my phones and Nook, I have found no reason to root my transformer.
Hi!
Before receiving it I thought that first thing I'd be doing upon receiving my TF was going to be get it rooted. Actually I haven't needed rooting it until now.
I'd recommended you updated it OTA to 3.1 if necessary and then simply enjoying it. If time comes that make you think you need rooting then go ahead.
Enjoy yur new TF.
Regards.
I like the other posters, Have not rooted or Modded my Transformer. I was a big G Tablet user/fan, but the Transformer blows it away for about the same Retail Price. The stock 3.1 (Via OTA update) really makes this a great tablet. I have not seen any reason for me to ROOT (Other than Supplament WIFI for Ad-Hoc teathering) and maybe CWM Backup. I am going to wait for a while for things to settle down before I go down the Alternate ROMS path. The G tablet was different as it was useless out of the box.

Thanks! My thought has been to just try it, but knowing that I would put a ROM on it, but the Transformer seem solid on its own, from what I have read.
Starting to second guess rooting.
How is this possible, a non rooted android device in MY hands... crazy.
Update to 3.1, find good honeycomb apps (the thread in the apps/theme forum can be very usefull) then enjoy.
Right now, rooting the TF isn't nearly as interesting as it is for phones.
Oh and there's various dual battery widget specificaly made for the TF wich display the battery left in the dock (wich you cannot see otherwise), i suggest you grab one as soon as you can.

I agree,
I had a htc desire and rooted it because I wanted to overclock the CPU to save battery, but I don't think thats necessary with the transformer.
hi everybody, i decided last week to upgrade from my galaxy s to an atrix after seeing all the great accessories and the same processor as my eepad, i ordered a lapdock from amazon brand new for £100 and it looks great, and a used atrix off eBay which was advertised as perfect condition which it wasn't.
I did an update from the phone which put it into a never ending restart loop, i found out how to sort it with someones helpful YouTube video, i am now the proud owner of a rooted atrix that doesn't work as it should with the lapdock, and am having to learn about rooting.
Can anybody recommend a direction for me,?
if i unroot it using one of the android market apps, will i be able to update it with the official updates without it killing the phone again?
if i stay rooted which rom is best for use with lapdock, and camera?
thanks in advance
Joe

so you just want to unroot ur phone or completely want to go back to Stock Blur???
if you just want to unroot, I'd recommend unroot using Super-One-Click. (can search in the forum what it is and how to use it). or if you want to go back to fully stock Blur Rom, try getting a ROM SBF file and flash it with RSDLite.
thanks spiderx, the guy that I bought the from as decided to cooperate with me returning the phone for a refund, so ill be getting one thats standard, i might look at rooting in the future tho,
thanks again for taking the time to reply.

So I recently decided to finally put my HD2 to rest, and upgraded to a Galaxy S3. Now that will be my daily phone, but I was wondering, what could I do with the HD2? Is there something else we could do that now that I wont be using it as my daily phone?
What will you guys be doing after you upgrade and have your phone open to trying anything on it, without worrying too much about bricking or messing up the phone?

I'd just start flashing all of those ROMs which I've considered but not really had time to mess around with, just to see what the best performance is. That also includes Windows Phone ROMs and stuff. Aside from that though I really don't know, I'd be too busy with the new phone.
iam not going to change my hd2 over near future...........i have an ASUS tf300 pad with stock jelly bean on it.. i use it at home for all games and browsing and multimedia.....out of home i use my hd2...why do i need another phone?

My main concern was the battery life. I never got more then 8 hours with regular use. 12 hour stand by. Also with Jelly Bean/ICS roms, it just isn't as quick as it was with Gingerbread (Hyperdroid GBX <3333). Yet I refuse to go back to Gingerbread after getting used to PA Jelly Bean.

haha Yea I don't think the S3 will live up to the expectations the HD2 has set for it, but I think it'll do .
I was thinking of giving it to my cousins in central america to play around with, but parting ways with it feels sad
I'm going to sell my a500 and have a question. I'm on a stock ICS ROM and rooted with the latest bootloader. Should I leave it as so or would people much rather buy a bone stock unrooted tab? Thanks!

I would leave it with the ics rom if it was me selling mine, May I ask why sellng?
Cool thanks for the opinion.
Don't mind at all, I've had this tab since it came out and just got a nexus 10 for my birthday a few days ago.
I know they are just machines but I'm always sad when I upgrade and have to part with my old devices lol.

It would seem I'm having a problem now trying to wipe my data... I don't understand it. Here is what I have done multiple times:
Factory reset
In CWM Wiped data, cache dalvik
formatted data, cache, system, flexrom
And there is still data left on the device, wtf? For example this small video I made in the movie maker app still has the video.
What am I doing wrong here? Thanks!

I think this should do the trick...
I recently purchased a Nexus 7 from craigslist. Unfortunately I don't believe the seller was fully truthful (surprise). When I got home I tried to connect it to my home Wi-Fi and for some reason it keeps saying there is an authentication problem. It won't let me do anything other then select a language and connect to Wi-Fi. He said it had 4.4 on it, and lucky for me, I bought the tablet to experiment with rooting, flashing, etc. Does anyone have suggestions on where to start with this thing?
*Edited the version which I was told was on it.
Have you tried a reboot? Several have posted a reboot resolved their problem with this.

I'd just nuke it and start fresh. https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images
Well I got it to connect to my friends Wi-Fi but I'm still going to have some fun with it.

Hi, LVMickey...
https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images
These are Factory Stock Images for Nexus devices... sort of like installable versions of Windows... but for Android instead.
-----------------------------
** If you have the WiFi only Nexus 7, you need the 'Nakasi' version.
** If you have the WiFi & 3G (Mobile) Nexus 7, you need the 'Nakasig' version.
** KOT49H is the latest build version (KitKat 4.4.2).
-----------------------------
Make sure your Nexus 7 is definitely the first generation model (2012)... because the second generation model (2013) requires the Razor and Razorg factory images.
Download the correct one to your PC... and then follow the instructions given here...
[GUIDE] Flashing a Factory Image with fastboot / return to stock.
Hope this clarifies a few things... and good luck.
Rgrds,
Ged.
out of curiosity, how much did you pay for it.
just wondering because i was playing around with the newer Nexux 7 at walmart and i got tempted to jump ship to the newer version. If i do,i will sell it on craigslist.
seems like they are going for between 90-110 bucks.

You can get at least $100-120 from a pawn shop, then if you change your mind, you have time to get it back. Just a thought. That's what I did- I pawned my N7, got a new tablet, then went back later and got my N7 back. Now I have both lol, which wasn't the plan, but I love them both so much for different things! Anyway, point is you'd get what you want money-wise without having to commit to the sale (just in case).
