Hello, i'm going to be getting the nexus 7 tablet from OfficeMax tomorrow and i'm wondering if its better to get at the play store or at office max defective wise...? thanks!
OfficeMax because you can just go to the store and return it.
Got mine July 25th from OM.
Even though the return policy on electronics is only 14 days, for grins I decided to submit a return request online yesterday (screen lift and LCD dead spots).
To my surprise I received and email this morning telling me they are processing my exchange.
Very impressed with OM.

With the high number of units showing problems, I think it is definitely worth paying a bit more (tax) to buy brick and mortar for the easy and fast exchange/return option.
hign number of defective?
how do you know.millions are sold most people who got a good unit don't report.

in case my N7 is defective , where should i returned it.??
i got a n7 in O. depot in las vegas, but will be back in florida in 2 months.
if defective (still have to open the box), do i go to office depot, do they exchange it?
or contact nexus??.
i know here in switzerland the warranty is probably not working. they will tell me to contact asus in US.
your input???
What does the receipt say that you bought it with. It should have instructions with dealing with their returns.
OR you could just look on their website and look for returns...
http://www.officedepot.com/renderStaticPage.do?file=/customerservice/Refunds.jsp
Warranty claims would go to Google or ASUS, but again as pointed out in your other posting, you should have checked the unit before leaving the country with it.
Then you wouldn't have this possible problem.
Nexus is not a company. Google won't help because you did not buy from them. Any Office Depot will exchange if you do it soon enough. 30 days is common. After that you are stuck with the Asus warranty which is no fun.

and why it s not fun?

Hi
I bought a Nexus 7 from Tesco Direct. They are only of the only retailers who have them in stock still.
They are able to to deliver to your nearest Tesco store, even a small Tesco Express store the very next day for you to pick up.
I had to issue of screen separation, I was able to return and get a refund very easily over the phone. They will come to collect the Nexus 7 and refund in 3 to 5 days.
I called Google, who said that they are aware of this issue which has been fixed by Asus, which means all the new Nexus 7 are fixed according to them.
I wish to know if this is true?
1) Are the new Nexus 7's fixed of this problem?
2) Are Google Play good and fast as taking goods returned and refunding?
3) Do they meet their delivery times?
4) Do you have to pay for any postage to return the item or anything?
Normally I only buy from retail stores, which means any time i have an issue i can go to the store and sort the problem out quickly.
However i am worried about buying from Tesco's even though they have very good service, I am worried i will get the older stock which still hast this screen separation problem, as they may have the older stock.
But i am also concerned about buying from Google Play because of the hassle of dealing with someone on the phone and posting the item back and waiting for delivery and so on. However i do not mind buying from them if it is true that all the new Nexus 7's being sold by Google Play are fixed of them problem.
Thanks

Hard to say if they have indeed fixed all of the issues... They say that they have addressed the screen separation issue and I can attest to that. As for taking returns, refunds, and exchanges Deff call them if you have any problems. The Google rep that I spoke with was very pleasant and more than willing to send me a replacement unit for my tablet which had dead pixels and a bad digitizer. The tablets are shipped via UPS 2 business days and my first tab took 4 days to get to me, called Google Friday and ordered my replacement the same day and it shipped Saturday. And to answer ur final question should u need a replacement Google will put a temporary charge on ur card for the replacement unit and they will email u shipping labels and RMA forms so u can get the exchange and once u receive the replacement just box up the defective unit and ship it back and they will remove the charge from ur card. Overall my experience with Google has been excellent and I would highly recommend doing business with them

Hi
Purchases n7 3 months ago in las vegas for 270$
Now speakers are kaput.
I have store receipt copy, not original. Original is at my mother house.
Can I give to the shop with a copy of store receipt and claim a refund? Or replacement?
Can I go in any store. I don't live in las vegas....
And do I need to bring the original box. Because I don t have it!
It depends on the store but I bought mine about the same time you did and I have all my stuff and O.D. told me that they can't take it back or exchange it because it is over the 14 DAYS that is the limit on there return policy and then told me to send it to ASUS sorry for the bad news it sucks
PS BUT YOU CAN STILL TRY WHO KNOWS YOU MIGHT GET BLESSED GOD BLESS YOU

Or, you could get Wug's toolkit and flash back to stock because I had this problem before and restoring it back to stock worked for fixing my speakers.
Three months old, you're looking at warranty service. The store won't help unless you bought a protection plan. Call Asus and set up an RMA.

Do you think it s software issue?
Because I did nothing wrong with these speaker. the next day I got this buzzing sound in the speakers!
Did anyone else have an issue getting the “Free Bumper” from Google when ordering your Nexus 4?
My wife ordered my Nexus 4 for Father’s Day a few weeks ago, maybe a few days or so after the promotion started. I didn't get a bumper with it so she called and was basically told it was a “while supplies last” promotion and they have run out. Yet, they are still advertising the promotion and seems like they have plenty of bumpers in stock on the Play store.
What’s the deal Google?! Seems pretty shady to me.
I got mine in the same package as with my N4. No trouble at all. Don't know what happened for you.
Ordered mine last Saturday and got it today, white with bumper.
No problems here man. Got mine about 2 weeks ago.

I'd send an email and/or call again and politely explain the issue. Let them know that plenty of people ordered after you and received the free bumper so you see no reason why you shouldn't have received one. Tell them you'll be glad to provide information showing you purchased the phone during the promotion as well.
Chances are you will just get the run around but in my experience being overly polite in these situations works out in your favor. Good luck!
The free bumper is just for the white nexus 4 in the US right?

So get this, I called Google last night and they flat out refused to just send me a bumper even though we purchased the Nexus 4 within the promotion period. They claim there was no availability when they shipped my phone even though they have stock now and there are plenty of other people who ordered around the same time I did who got theirs, basically I think they just screwed up my order and don’t want to admit it. So I escalated to a supervisor and he still refused to simply send me a bumper, HOWEVER, he said I could remorse return my Nexus 4 and they will cover the return shipping and waive the restock fee and I can just order another phone! Why not just send me the stupid $20 bumper Google!? This route is going to cost you waaay more than if you were to just ship me a bumper! What the heck!?

Nope, came in the same box.
Got it yesterday.
It's not that big of a deal. I don't care that I didn't get one.

I had the same issue and got the same response. It seems to be some kind of policy of theirs that you have to return the device to get a new one with the bumper, which sucks but i guess we have to deal with it.

Did you guys ever get a positive resolution to this? I'm in the same boat and being given the same runaround only Google decided to end the latest promo overnight so it makes no sense that play support is telling me to return and reorder the phone.
I've been fairly hesitant to send in my Nexus 7 in for an RMA die to the abundance of negative reviews, but i decided to give it a shot.
I had some phantom touch issues, sticky home button, as well as some issues while transferring data from tablet to PC.
I sent the tablet to Asus on September 6th via Canada Post express and aids received it on the 10th. The status appeared as "product repair is in progress", however it stayed that way till the 16th. On the 16th I woke up to an email saying that the tablet had been repaired and is on the way via Purolator Express.
Upon further trading into the email I realized they messed up the address and forgot to mention the apartment number and buzzer code, hence I'd have to pick it up.
Having spent 1.5 hours waiting for the Purolator driver to come in, I finally received package. Inside I found a new replacement for my N7.
TL DR: RMA sent on evening of 6th September, replacement N7 picked up on 17th September. Other than minor shipping issues (ASUS provided my incomplete address) I'm satisfied with the experience. So far so good.

My turn around time was good as well (about 10 days) ,however ,having to pay to have it shipped is lame (that and the new warranty/serial number sticker with wet ink!). That said, they didn't resolve the ghost screen issue at all. Mine worked ok for a few weeks then started up again (my guess is they installed some patch or different drivers). Works fine now though, thanks to SyphOnX's fix posted in the "Nexus 7 Screen not responding to touch sometimes?" thread in the N7 Q&A, Help and Troubleshooting forum. I guess sometimes if you want it done right, you have to do it yourself.
How are Asus with unlocked bootloader devices? My N7 has completely died but it had PA installed on it when it died I have a feeling they won't want to repair it.
Sent from my LG-P768 using xda app-developers app
I'm newish to all this but I'm sure with PA on it the warranty will be null and void. See if you can revive it and revert it back to stock before rmaing it (although you may not need to at that point).
Opening the case is a cinch, I used regular tweezers, lol, and everything under the hood is very well laid out. If it's a replacing something issue you shouldn't have a problem.

Recieved new Nexus 7 after RMA
I'd just like to give my experience with Asus RMA. I've had an unlocked bootloader and been rooted since day 1 back in January, but I've also had screen phantom touch issues and unresponsiveness. I delayed sending it back as it was not too bad but last month it got really bad, so I went for it. After I requested the RMA I used Nexus Root Toolkit to unroot and re-lock my device, then set it back to completely stock. (Look up Nexus Root Toolkit and get it its some great software). I wrote up a very thorough description of the issue as I was instructed and sent it off from Nebraska to Texas. 10 days or so later a new Nexus 7 showed up at my door, with no touchscreen issues or anything. I recommend anyone who has issues with their nexus 7 to send them in, especially if you're nearing that end of warranty period. It's awesome top have an unscratched and perfect Nexus 7 just a few months before my warranty ends, do lock up that bootloader and send 'em in!
And to avoid confusion, I received a new Nexus 7 (2012), NOT "The New" Nexus 7 (2013) haha but that would have been awesome!
I'm currently waiting on my n7 to come back from its 3rd repair for failing to boot. I've never rooted or unlocked my tablet. I bought it march of 2013. 3 repairs for essentially the same problem. I honestly feel that my wifes samsung galaxy tab 2 is a better built device. Im posting this with her tablet. She treats her tablet like crap whereas I've treated my n7 with the utmost care. I paid for the shipping the first time but was given prepaid fedex shipping these last 2 times. This could well be my last nexus tablet.

Yeah I've had good experiences too. I have always done an advance swap - receive the new tablet first, transfer all my files and a nandroid backup, restore to new device, wipe the old one, reinstall stock ROM and relock bootloader, send it in.
I have never had to pay for shipping. The same day they order the advance swap, I get a prepaid shipping label by e-mail. This is in Vancouver BC.
I've done two swaps, both because the speaker was blowing out.
My order for the original tab was right on launch day which means my original warranty expires in three weeks. My credit card entitles me to a second year but I probably won't be able to do an advance swap anymore.
