http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1831561 captivate glide ics leak is out.
finally an official ics version for a tegra 2 phone.so this proves ics is coming to tegra 2. The other thing is some of our developers may be able to use those drivers.
yesss!!!!

Probably won't help, it uses a newer version of the kernel and we don't have a 3.X kernel for the Atrix.
yes..it seems it wont help..but this gives hope for our official update
Sent from my MB860 using xda app-developers app
I don't know if it's a kernel module or built-in.
But if it's built-in we need the sources. That means leaks won't help us we have to wait for an official release of the kernel-source.
When it comes to drivers, the kernel doesnt always mean a whole lot. If that phone is the same variant of Tegra 2 used in the Atrix, there's a good chance its drivers could be used.

From what I understand, the only reason the Mimosa drivers couldn't be used is because it was for a different kernel version. We don't have a 3.X kernel, so any drivers made for a 3.X kernel probably aren't going to work for us, unless someone wants to port Moto's changes in 2.6 up to a 3.1 kernel, I guess.

The Mimosa drivers couldnt be used because the Tegra 2 variant in that one was the AP25. The Atrix is AP20H. The kernel had nothing to do with it.

Where did you find this? The hwlibs in the system dump from that device suggest it is an AP20H with a higher clockspeed.
i think we dont have developers.. Really hard decompiling kernel and modding things , add extra things and recompiling kernel again?
Captivate Glide has the same Tegra 2, AP20H, so this leak should help.
I posted it in two threads but I didn't see any response from devs.

I'm having difficulty finding the thread, but its been discussed here on XDA before. Maybe you'll have better luck with search than I did. But the AP25 does have a higher clock speed than the AP20H.

I have spoke with some people from motorola and asked some questions related to general business but also for upgrading Atrix with ICS.
I'm pasting here some answers without mentioning names, I think that this may show that motorola is doing more than they are ready to publicly say in this moment. To be on safe side You can think about this as rumor.
On Software upgrades, I wasn't aware of an announcement regarding ICS and ATRIX. Although Motorola tends to announce what it will do, not what it won't do, it doesn't mean it won't happen. You may be right, but I don't know the current status... The challenge we have with ATRIX however is Webtop, the full linux OS which sits within Froyo/Gingerbread... I imagine this has delayed any comment. The ideal scenario would be to upgrade all phones to the latest software, and I see that almost all high-end (non web top) phones have had ICS upgrade confirmed.

Agreed, but..... If they actually release a version of ICS for the atrix, it can be DEblurred and retain the webtop. So if one carrier actually releases ICS for the atrix we would be set..

What we need are drivers, webtop and kernels, and they will give us these if this is true
thats a lie dude ;D
Motorola's problem in releasing ICS is not WebTop's fault, is nvidia's! they will not release ICS drivers and sources, not until motorola pays them some good money.
So, our hope for now is that motorola pays for ics on xoom and then make a "hacked driver" of it to the phones with tegra2....

Perfectly acceptable titles:
- Unofficial information from Motorla regarding ICS for the Atrix
- I contacted Motorola regarding ICS for the Atrix, here's the answer
- If you were wondering about Motorola's stand on ICS for the Atrix, here it is
- So I decided to contact Motorola about ICS for the Atrix
Do you understand how the title is misleading enough for it to pass as obvious trolling? Don't apologize, just change the god damned title so people won't read it and get excited over some unofficial comments that do not really say ANYTHING at all about current development for the Atrix.
Thank you and have a good one.

Since motorola needs to upgrade RAZR to ICS (they publicly committed that they will do it) it means that webtop will be rewrite for ICS so it's possible that they will
user webtop for RAZR in ICS for atrix.
Only after Google's control.
Until recently while reading the cyanogenmod thread, I had never figured out how to use github to find nightlies changelog, to weigh the pros and cons of flashing. I have been checking these sites pretty often and here are the changelogs:

Disclaimer: Please note that I am not a developer of epic mtd cyanogenmod, nor a developer in general. I may may mistakes because I am not as informed as the rest of you. I only know what is posted in this which as aprosammuarai states is not merged. It is used simply as a place holder and as such will not be as representative to their cm9 progress as it could be. I know its preliminary, but still exciting.
Hopefully Jt1134's comment helps them.
Two more things:
Preliminary kernel change too: http://review.cyanogenmod.com./#change,11662
And to the OP: please update your post to include links to kernel changes too. those are called something with victory. I think its android_kernel_samsung_victory.
1. ICS was forked automatically for us (as I understand).
2. All of the current changes are for Galaxy S devices in general (updating the graphics drivers, etc).
3. We'd still have a fair bit of work to do to rectify our own set-up to ICS, since we deviate from the other Galaxy S devices by a lot (we're the misfit at the current moment).

Epic=Victory
Victory kernel changes are epic cm kernel changes. So all those changes are epic specific or not used by all Galaxy S devices because they use a different touchscreen driver for AOSP. And also, jt1134's comments could help them a lot because he posted a possible way to fix touchscreen (using the Charge's kernel because we use the same AOSP touchscreen driver). Their commits aren't that interesting per-se, but jt1134's comments are because he contributed greatly to the other galaxy s devices and ours (helped deca on cm7), and got many galaxy s devices ics. So if he can help epic on cm7 and other devices on cm9, he can help epic on cm9.
Also, jnadke, are you still working on ICS?

You're ok. Don't worry. No need to apologize. And you're right. Not particularly interesting commits, but the comments should help because we use the same touchscreen driver and gpu drivers as the charge (which is what jt1134 linked to) so that means touchscreen should be working soon most likely which is a big deal considering how ics uses different touchscreen drivers than gb so its harder but now that charge has it, the devs should be able to use that.

We're supposed to sell our Tabs an buy the Tab 2. Why would they release something to slow the sale of the Tab 2? I'm sure when the Tab 3 comes out with 4 cores and the number of Tabs being used drops to less than 3% they will release source with ICS. Of course nobody will be using ICS by then.

Did you read this in your head before you posted it? Have you taken the least amount of time to analyse it before posting?
1- AOSP agreement obligates anyone who releases an os based on android to relase the source code
2- As for the latest agreement, any provider is to ensure update for 18 months following the release
3- ICS was already annouced for the Tab 10.1
4- Only apple disciples sells their devices to get the "new one wich is almost the same but Apple says it's new so it's better", most of the consumers will try to get the most out of their devices and will not follow this line.

Well, it has got to come out someday anyway, 'cause they'll be violating the GPL otherwise.

For me, it's marketing.
They give source because they want to have better image for the next LG Nexus.

Agreed. This is just to start cleaning the image.
We don't care if LG wants to clean the image, it's a new hope for atrix users and devs ! :victory: :good:

Motorola should also clean the image
I have both devices and I was happy with the news!
I dropped one tear here.
I would like to hear what the devs think about this...

Lol. That was funny.
Why is this posted in an Atrix 4g forum?
Congratulatons! This will definetely help to build full-working ICS build for the Atrix. This kernel is 2.6.39, the same as the ICS leaked rom for the Atrix. Now we have kernel sources from LG and proprietaries for a kernel with the same version from the leak. I hope the developers can easily put them together

This has so much potential! Here's to a stable JB ROM with HW. That's all I want. Couldn't care less about FP or Camcorder, just HW and it's godsend!
Cheers

Did you read the OP or just the topic title?
I don't know if I must be happy or just... meh!
Why? "That ROM" got around more than two weeks ago and no improvement have been made from it to another ROMs, in fact "that ROM" have been worse that those ported.
Now the kernel is a good thrust, but... What about drivers (camera, fingerprinter, webtop)? AFAIK, LG Optimus 2X doesn't have that hardware which will continue relegated.
