Hi, Just bought my phone yesterday. After unpacking and going through the tutorial, i am not able to use any of the phone features on my HD2.
In the settings menu there is a switch to turn on the phone functions but that seems to freeze and after pressing nothing happened.
Everything else works except the phone features.
Can any one help.
make sure you have the right network provider selected (auto or your provider) maybe trying to connect to the wrong one or since you have not installed anything yet you might as well try a hard reset
Apologies if this comes across as a stupid question but have you put the SIM card in the right way? From memory, it goes in backwards with the clipped corner pointing out.
Sim card old
Thanks for all your help.
I went to ask my provider why my sim card wasn't working and why the phone was running slow and crashing.
The reason why it wouldn't recognize is because the sim card is about 6 years old and it needed updating. The HD2 didn't recognize the old sim card.
It works perfectly now and I am so happy i picked the right phone
Thanks for all your help
I'm trying to find out if anyone has tried doing this. For some reason when I install the sim from my gophone in the HD2 it doesnt say that there is no sim present, but it also wont give me the option to unlock the phone or make a call. If I hit the phone button nothing comes up. Oh yea, Mines the T-Mobile US version >_>
does it work with a regular t-mobile sim card?
Some phones require sim unlock with original SIM carrier in it - once code is typed in then it easily recognizes other SIM cards (AT&T in your case)
I have the unlock code for my phone. I just cant get the panel that asks for it to come up.
Oh and no I cant use it with the regular card because I have to go to the local tmobile shop on monday. I was told by tmobile that some how my sim number must have been a reissued number because it was registered to someone else and now I have to go pick up a new sim card.
My AT&T card was not recognised by my 9193 at first.
I had to put it in and try several times. Pushed it way down in the slot after lightly using a pencil eraser on the contact surfaces and off it went. Hasn't missed a beat in a month.
It's odd, cant seem to get it to work .. It doesnt say there is no sim like it does when I completely take it out, but it still wont let me bring up the phone panel. I've tried wiggling it, Putting it in 50 different ways... nothing seems to work.
i bought a used mytouch 3g that was unlocked. I tried two different active sim cards in it and it keeps saying no sim inserted. I dont know if there is something wrong with the phone or what but it sounds like it. Does anyone have any suggestions?
mytouch 3g
i had that same problem you have. try to factory reset in your phone settings by going to sd card @ phone storge and reset the phone and if that dose not work then you would need to call customer care and they will do it for you over the phone. hope it works if not let me know
Anybody know how to change the network name from something other than "T-Mobile | Get More..." ? Is this something that would require root? It didn't used to do that on my G1 with CM6 so was wondering if it's a software thing.
I find it more obnoxious on the notification bar when you pull it down.
And yes, root is required to silence it.
Mine says "T-Mobile" on the locak screen and when I pull down the notification.... might wanna hard reset the phone?
Did a hard reset yesterday and it didn't fix it...would doing the soft root allow you to change it?
Mine only said T-Mobile
Root hasn't developed enough to do any of that.... besides if you do change something, the "Un-root" system will wipe off everything and do a factory reset.
Maybe you got a "special" G2? lol
Mine says VStream, which is when I got my current SIM card. Should I switch to the SIM card provided in the box?
Mine said T-Mobile:Get More... until I switched to the new sim and now it just says T-Mobile.

Same here. When I got it yesterday I just put my SIM from my G1 in.
I used my G1 sim and it says "TMobile - Get More"
Sounds like it's a SIM thing then...I didn't use the SIM provided since for whatever reason it put my mom's cell # on the SIM (we're on a family plan and she's the primary account...had to go through some shenanigans to even get it shipped to my address and not hers). I guess I'll call T-Mo and see if I can get a new SIM shipped out.
Hello I am experiencing a BIG problem . I Successfully flashed a Nand rom to my phone last year it worked great but after some shortcomings I could no longer afford my pay as you go plan. My phone service had been cut off for about 7 months until yesterday, since it was off so long I had to get a new Tmobile(us) account/SIM card. My phone booted up in android as normal with full 3G service bars but when I went to make a call it said "This Carrier will not allow phone calls to this number" shocked I went back to Tmobile to make sure my account was active and it was. My text also do not work and I cannot sign into my gmail account either. Ive searched the web and it does not seem that anyone has a solution to this problem PLEASE help me !!
Did you try reflashing it?
There are a few things that could be going on here:
1. tmobile has you on the wrong data plan which has happened to me in the past. The had me on a blackberry plan which messed up a lot but you should still be able to make calls.
2. You have a balance left over on that phone and tmobile has locked that phone
3. you need a new sim card. tmobile will gladly change out your sim for a new one for free
4: something is going on with Android on your phone.
I would talk to Tmobile again and ask for a new sim or go in the store and see if the sim you have will work in one of their phones. If it does then you know its
something with your phone. I would kind of start over just to clear up any problems. Start with making a back up of anything you dont want lost, including your
sd card. Then repartition your phone/sd to what the ROM you want to use needs. Reinstall MAGLDR and cwm and finally the ROM you want to use. See if that
helps at all. If i had to take a guess it could be something as simple as the simcard is messed up but without having them try it in another phone or you trying
it in another phone you wont know for sure. I know it seems like a lot but reinstalling this stuff should clear up if its your phone or your sim thats messing up.
Before you blame Android, flash your phone with stock WM 6.5 rom. If you still can't make calls or get any data, take the phone to a T-Mobile store and have them figure it out.
