[Q] Unable to boot to CLK - Stuck on HTC screen - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

Hi Team
Just bought an old HD2 from work and am trying to flash to Android via the method described here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1402975
I get as far as the repartition step 13, and when the phone reboots it does not load into CLK fastboot. All that happens is the white HTC screen comes up and doesn't go any further. At this point the phone is not detectable via ADB or normal USB.
The phone is a GSM HD2 and has HSPL 2.08 installed.
Any help recovering this or pushing forward with the flash is much appreciated.

At step 13 you are in recovery trying to install the rom, it should be trying to boot the rom!
If you are in recovery then you have clk installed.
You might not have the correct partition size for your rom, it will not boot if the partition size is too small.

Yeah thats the problem - it goes through the CLK partition/recovery install, and the phone goes from the tricolour screen to the HTC 0-100% screen, reboots and then the white HTC logo screen. From the instructions, I thought the phone would go straight into CLK recovery.
Is there a set of key presses I'm meant to do to trigger recovery?

You have to hold "home" while booting to boot into recovery.

Yeah didn't work - still goes to the HTC logo...im guessing this means CLK didn't install properly.....Any other ideas?

Do you have install radio 2.15.50.14 ?
Sent from my NexusHD2 using Tapatalk

You have to give us more information.
What does it say when you hold down the volume button when starting the device ?

Same poblem
I have the exact same problem... The clk bootloader doesn't start up when i press the home button, after i've flashed it, but instead getting stuck on the HTC-white screen. I also have another HD2 where i can flash android(NAND) etc... without problems, so i can't really see why it doesn't work..
Right now i've been using:
- HTC HD2 EU-version
- Radio: have tried 2.14.50.02 and 2.15.50.14 without succes...
- SPL - 2.08
- HPSL 4
I'm using the HD2 toolkit when i'm trying to flash the phone.
Please help..

You need HSPL 2.08 or 3.03 to install clk.

Thanks for response.
I've already have HSPL 2.08, just checked it up to make sure...
It's really strange, that my phone does have the right radio and HSPL, but still hangning up on the white HTC bootscreen, after i've flashed clk into it.. or it says that it had "succesfully flashed it"...
My steps for installing magldr or clk, tried both now.
1: Wipe task 29.
2: Flash HSPL 2.08
3: Flash Radio 2.15.50.1
5: Flash clk.
6: Hardreset.
7: Holding down homebutton.
8: Stuck on white screen... -.-'

Is there any kind of solution for this and have this happen for anyone before?

Have you installed cwm recovery?
Thats what your trying to get to holding the home button.
If it's not working after installing recovery go here and go to post three and try installing clk 1.5 using the leoimg.nbh method.
edit: clk 1.5 comes with recovery pre-installed.

Hold the back button while powering on to get to clk, you can boot to recovery from there and then install rom...
If you get to clk don't forgrt to partition your nand through settings menu..resize partitions...

Thanks for response, but it seems like it doesn't even boot clk.. Normally when you've flashed clk, the phone should reboot to a black screen with some text and from here you can flash cwm recovery. But in this case, the black screen doesn't even show up.
Could it be that my phone have some hardware faults, or maybe is my HD2 not compatible with the radio (2.15.50.14) which were recommended?
Anyway, is there some way to see if clk has been flashed properly, just to make sure that it's there?

The radio is fine for all versions of hd2 and is what I have on my EU version. All I can say is to start from scratch ie. Install hspl 2.08, radio, task 29, then install clk 1.5 again.
In that order...

Still doesn't solve the problem. I have tried with various kind of orders, but without luck.
Just made a recheck on everything and i can conclude that HSPL 2.08 and the radio 2.15.50.1 is there.
The problem may not be a wrong HSPL or radio, since it's there, but perhaps it might be the phone that doesn't flash clk proberly...
Im really confused right now
Anyway, i've also tried to install magdlr but still ended up on HTC-white screen -.-'

Well if you can do that it's not a jtag.
Probably be better to go back to stock if all else fails.

Not sure about clk, never used it, but magldr will ONLY start with 2.08.hspl, AND a 2.x.50 radio, perhaps clk is the same?

as far as reports are concerned, People have been running clk with 3.03hspl and 2.10 radios and what not, it just needs to be a .50 to enable 576mb ram.
How is it clk epic fail if it's just you not being able to get it to work ? have you followed everything properly ?

[Q] Stuck with HSPL 3.03.0000. No MAGLDR, no OS. What now?

Hi, I attempted to install Android on my GFs HD2. It was running Windows 6.5.
HSPL 2.08 was already installed and I installed MAGLDR 1.13. In MAGLDR I was able to select menu items but pressing the call-button didn't do anything. How do I unstuck myself? Help greatly appreciated.
UPDATE: I tried to flash the RUU_signed.nbh via SD from RUU_Leo_S_HTC_GER_3.14.407.2_Radio_15.42.50.11U_2.15.50.14_LEO_S_Ship but it failed, I guess. Now it won't boot (says Software Update failed, please try again). SPL 3.03.0000 is now installed. Slowly getting nervous over here. What's my way out of this mess now?
You should be ok to install hspl 2.08.
If you haven't already got it, get the HD2 nand toolkit (kusbedi) it makes things a lot easier. Then have a good read here.
OK, thanks, didn't know you could install HSPL from the bootloader too.
HSPL 2.08 is now installed. Still the same problem with MAGLDR not reacting to the call button, though. I guess I'll try CLK then.
You can just as easy install magldr again if you wish using the toolkit...
Hmm, I now formatted the memory with Task 29 and reinstalled MAGLDR, still no reaction to call-button presses.
I've got two hd2 s, and on both magldr never accepts the first press of send, I have to click it again slightly (only slightly,) firmer and fractionally longer. If I try the slightly longer firmer press first, it still doesn't accept it till the second press.
My point being to make sure its really a problem before you start re flashing.
If you assure yourself its really not accepting, try reflashing 2.08.hspl again but using hspl3, (there are occasional issues with Hspl4, not usually connected to magldr, but everything's worth trying) and then reflash magldr. The nand toolkit as advised is a good way to go.
Winmo roms, radios, hspl, task29... all can be flashed from bootloader, and indeed its a better way to flash.
grmpf... HSPL 2.08 from HSPL 3 was no help.
Now with cLK in Clockwork Mod, left button doesn't work either!! Points to a mechnical problem, but GF (owner) says no. Will keep trying.

Try installing a touch recovery? That will help you solve your problem. Also download a app like Quick Boot so you can boot straight into recovery from the Android OS.

Thanks guys.
I successfully installed TWRP, the touch recovery built, and flashed NexusHD2-ICS-4.0.4-CM9-HWA V2.1 from there.
GF is going to be very happy!

[Q] Error while booting to CLK recovery

Hello
I just flashed CLK on my hd2 using the toolkit, I also flashed the toolkit recovery (which i believe was v 4.3)
Now when I try to boot to recovery using Home + red buttons I get this error in the middle of the command lines
"ERROR: CANNOT READ RECOVERY_HEADER"
I tried to wipe all and reflash everything again but I keep getting the same error.
I looked everywhere but can't find any answer.
Is there any other way I can install a new ROM without accessing the CWM? like using the command prompt.
I also attached a screenshot of the error.
Any help would be very much appreciate it. and Please if there is a solution please show the steps for it cuz I am still new with CLK.
The latest stable version of clk is v1.5 which also installs a version of cwm , there is even one that installs twrp recovery too!
No links on my phone but will be easy to find...
BTW did you select clk install recovery option after clk reparation?

I downloaded this file provided in clk thread "black_lk_20120920-TouchRec_b8" I installed it using the toolkit, I then added the LEOIMG file to the toolkit and flashed it.
And I can't get to the boot loader screen, I get the "stick together" screen once I turn on the phone, and then it freezes.

What version of hspl do you have installed?
If it's hspl 2.08 or hspl 3.03 try this,
first do a task29 using the toolkit
Then place the LEOIMG.nbh file on the root of your sdcard.
Now power on the device while holding the volume down button.
When asked to proceed with install push the power button..
This should install clk 1.5 with a default partition size which you can change from within clk later!
Let me know if it works.

I tried flashing it that way but it doesn't work with me, when I press volume down button with power it only shows the multicolored screen.
I also tried to restore the stock rom, by installing the rom from TMOUS website, my phone also freezes on the firs boot screen, "Stick Together"
by looking at this thread, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1063807

I did task29 then downloaded the rom file from t-mobile webisite then put phone on multicolored with usb debugging and ran the file on my computer.
I actually had this phone for almost 3 years now and I flashed about 4 different versions of android but i was using mgldr.
the phone was doing great with me but about 4 days I wanted to go to recovery to back up the phone I got "1E FATAL HIT 1"
I read that some one had the same issue and they switched to clk and it worked fine, and someone flashed stock rom then custom and it worked.
but nothing is working with me, I have 2.08 hspl and I've been using that for a long time, I tried 3 sdcards using both ways of flashing (toolkit and putting LEOIMG file in the sdcard) but it failed in all of them.
PS: thank you for the thank though I have been here since I got the phone and never got one thanks haha.

Now I do, I think!
I have asked you what it says on the multicolored screen a few times.
Pic please?
Flashing stock rom should do the trick as regards verifying that it's not a hardware problem, but it will have wiped your hspl!
So to install clk v1.5, you will have to re-flash hspl 2.08 (no zeros after the 8) or hspl 3.03!

OK, I would not give up yet.
Re-install hspl and this time select "3.03", then task 29 and try to reinstall clk 1.5...
Edit: If the last thing you did was install stock it won't work with hspl installed,
It should say something like..SPL-2.08.0000, use the hspl 3.03 package to downgrade to this spl version and then install stock from pc as normal (MAKE SURE you are using the correct stock rom for your phone) or as I said, try the above...

I am getting really frustrated now!
for clk:
I upgraded the hspl to 3.03, then installed clk 1.5. UNFORTUNATELY I am still getting the same message when I boot into recovery.
for stock rom: (I got it from t-mobile website which is the right one for my phone)
after failing to install clk, I FIRST downgraded the hspl to SPL 3.03.0000 and tried to flash the stock rom but the percentage bar doesn't even move. So I decided to try it with 2.08.0000 but the same thing happens. This doesn't happen when I have 3.03.HSPL or 2.08.HSPL, it actually loads when I have the hspl but then when it is done, I get stuck in "stick together" screen.

[Q] HTC HD2 bricked?

Hello,
I got a htc hd2.
Unfortunately, this only starts to HTC logo.
've Already tried to flash again.:
with hspl : SPL-3.03.hspl,then Task 29. RadioRom 2.15 and the Artemis Rom uploaded.
runs through without error. HTC launches new but unfortunately still the same error.
I then return to the spl-3.03.000
and Stockrom RUU_Leo_S_HTC_GER_3.14.407.2_Radio_15.42.50.11U_2.15.50.14_LEO_S_Ship via usb (before, of course task29) uploaded.
runs through without error. HTC launches new but unfortunately still the same error.
Soft reset and hard reset did nothing.
It always starts only until htc logo.
In the bootloader with:
PB81100 SS-BC
SPL 3.03.0000 XE
MicroP (LED) 0x05
MicroP (Touch) 0x50
Someone nee idea what I can try to?
Thanks in advance
HD2 not bricked
See this thread, you may have to downgrade your SPL to 2.10

and Stockrom RUU_Leo_S_HTC_GER_3.14.407.2_Radio_15.42.50.11U_2.15.50.14_LEO_S_Ship via usb (before, of course task29) uploaded.
runs through without error. HTC launches new but unfortunately still the same error.
Soft reset and hard reset did nothing.
It always starts only until htc logo.
In the bootloader with:
PB81100 SS-BC
SPL 3.03.0000 XE
MicroP (LED) 0x05
MicroP (Touch) 0x50
Someone nee idea what I can try to?
Thanks in advance

IMO it's not bricked (afaik it wouldn't start at all if bricked), but something on your MB is faulty.

See this thread, you may have to downgrade your SPL to 2.10

that only applies to flashing Android, I think he's just trying to boot WM6.5

Sounds like your mainboard might be overheating. The ROM you are using sounds correct. Try putting the phone in the freezer for 5 minutes, then turn it on and see if it loads WM6.5 before freezing / restarting again, this would show that your mainboard is faulty.

Might be.
You are 100% sure that is the correct stock ROM?
According to HTC and imeinr. it is a t-mobile cell phone.
He has made the installation of the Roman sdcard without fail.

That is so weird. I guess it's possible you have so many bad blocks that your nand is just not usable.
How about if you just run HSPL from the bootloader and flash a custom ROM or flash MAGLDR instead?
I had HSPL 3.03 and 2:08 also tried with a custom rom
Starts only until htc logo.
I had, after I had tried the stockrom via sdcard on it it with HSPL 2:08 task 29, Radio_rom_2_15_50_14
CLK_1_5_HBOOT flashed. Flashing worked without problems.
But the start is just a white screen.
Otherwise I would have just installed Android on SD card.
Can one save what?

So let's start over.
You flash HSPL, then task29, then MAGLDR, and just reboot the phone, and it does not boot into magldr?
yes exactly
it only goes to the logo

This doesn't make sense.
From HSPL, you flash task29 and it flashes successfully?
Then you go back into HSPL, and flash magldr, and that flashes successfully?
Then you reboot the phone, and it won't make it past the HTC logo?
yes i flashed from HSPL task 29 and it flashed successfully.
Then i go back in to HSPL and flash magldr successfully.
Then i reboot the phone and it starts magldr.
When you start the message is short (Nand kernel open failed)
and it starts in the menu
Then comes the next problem.
I have tried to set up the system environment with the ClockworkMod (to match the rom)
he seems to do well.
Resets but not by itself.
I've just made by hand.
Then I wanted to partition the sd card inserted.
So I went to AD Recovery menu.
There is then another error:
Android Load Raw
(K) 11808000:29 A650 (I) 12800000:136 A22 ......
Load Done

So the magldr menu never comes up?
in the magldr menu every time I come.
(Nand kernel open failed) is that an error message?

That sounds like a CWM error, not one you'd get just from entering the magldr menu.
As soon as it loads magldr, is there any menu with any choices?
Like flash magldr 1.13 and then does a menu ever come up?
Also, are you flashing HSPL 3.03 or 2.08? You should have 2.08

"NAND kernel open failed" appears when you try to "Boot AD NAND" from magldr without having a ROM installed.
MAGLDR's menu does show up, because that error is from selecting option #2 (or #1, I don't remember).
He needs now to flash a recovery using "5. USB Flasher", then flash a ROM using that recovery.

[Q] Problem installing cKL/Magldr, Please Help!

Hello everyone,
I'm new here posting, but was reading XDA a lot .
I have a poblem that I cannot solve:
I have HTC HD2 and wanted to flash MIUI instead of stock OS.
I'm not new to custom ROM, and use custom ROMs on Motorola DEFY and Galaxy Ace.
For HD2 I used guide below:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1402975
I was able to change SPL to 2.08 HSPL, but for some reason mine shows PB81110 HX-BC instead of PB81120 etc in top line and 0x40 instead of 0X50 in the bottom line.
Than I run Task 29 successfully. Than I've flashed cKL,1.4.0.1, it was 100% and looks good.
Than phone was supposed to boot to cKL menu and instead it stuck on HTC green letters logo on white screen.
I took battery out and tried press power button, no luck same HTC logo.
I went to three color screen, run Task 29 again and tried installing Magldr same thing says 100%, doesn't boot to Magldr screen, battery out, HTC logo and that's it. Tried multiple times, with different usb cables, nothing works. Didn't do stock back up, so cannot go back to stock, battery is getting low and I out of ideas.
Could someone PLEASE help, and explain what am I doing wrong? At this stage I'll be happy with any working ROM even stock.
Thank you so much in advance!!!
did you update teh radio? flash 2.15.50 from bootloader (stripey screen) and reboot, see if magldr appears.
Oh and stop task29ing, its not necessary.
PB81110 means it is a telstra version. (Same as regular version except for the 3g frequencies)

Thank you very much for prompt reply.
Hope it doesn't sound very annoying, but what is 2.15.50? I would appreciate just a reference or link to the right thread.
Edit: If this thread below is the correct , which one to pick?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=611787
the one that starts 2.15.50 would be the one. (the top one)

@samsamuel: OK, that was a great help, thank you so much, after flashing 2.15.50 I've managed to install CWM via cLK. Much appreciated!
But problem again:
I've flashed tytung R14 kernel, than MIUI and it looks good, says congrats on the screen, but when I go to 'reboot system' in CWM it boots back to cLK screen looks like step 14 of this guide:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1402975
I think I'm very close ( have CWM installed and able to flash kernel and MIUI), but obviously doing something wrong.
Is there any step I'm missing? Any ideas? Help please!
please use nand tookit

Hi!
My phone has the same problem. I think it has to do with corrupt internal memory blocks. I was able to flash a few times by altering system size partition, but now I can not flash clk on my phone anymore.
I ended up installing using magldr method, instead of clk. Use the hd2 toolkit to:
-Wipe task29
-Install magldr
-Magldr repartition (Usb flasher option in magldr)
-Install zip from sd card in ad recovery
I chose dataonext because I don't trust my nand memory.
Good luck!
