I am looking into purchasing a used Transformer locally and have read in various places on this board about some people not wanting a Best Buy transformer. Is there a specific reason for this?
Thanks
They are exactly the same. I have both.
The bestbuy blackfriday one has an X1 appendage on the model. But I believe that was just to keep track of sale pricing versus full retail pricing.

The rumors of Best Buy's Transformers have been greatly exaggerated. They were re-serialed, not re-designed.

It means, my slow friend, that the only changes made to the Transformers were model numbers for Best Buy's inventory. Neither ASUS nor Best Buy touched the actual internals of those tablets.

Glad someone posted this, I had one of the first batches of the Transformer when it came out from Frys. I picked up that black Friday deal from Best buy with the different UPC, and immediately the screen colors looked different. The BB unit was duller and the backlight was not as white until I bumped it up to full brightness.
I got rid of my original transformer cuz of light bleeding so I can't provide any picture comparisons.

Some people were worried about buying later serial numbers because they would be able to root them. At one point people were reporting that Best buy a large stock of newer serial numbers. People were still picking up older serial numbers off of Amazon, Wal-Mart.com, & Frys. It came down to people wanting to root their Transformers. Best buys Transformers are no different than any other merchants.

Howdy,
I've finally aligned the stars and am ready to by the international note. Before I buy, I'd like to know how everyone feels about buying through Expanys USA vs. Amazon. I've used both companies before so I am very comfortable buying phones from them.
I just want to make sure that I get the version that has been updating the fastest. Not talking about ODIN, but software update to come to phone.
What versions are they selling - German, Hong Kong, etc?
Thanks!
You can probably get it for a bit cheaper off Amazon. If you're buying via Expansys make sure you look up for some discount vouchers. I bought my white international Galaxy Note from Expansys just 2 weeks ago and wow, next day shipping was AMAZING!
I got mine from expansys its German.

Amazon price has dropped significantly. Bought mine there. Came with KK2.

At this point just get it for the cheapest. If you choose amazon, make sure to check out the seller feedback. I personally went with expansys when it was first released.
Unless its under a certain price, i rather spend the extra for smooth transaction. Amazon is to much like ebay.
just wanted to vouch for global mobiles on amazon..i bought by note from them about 2 weeks ago ($30 more expensive then..=(), and they were fantastic. perfect condition German model, packed well, very attentive to detail.
also had 1-day shipping for 3.99 on prime..and it arrived less than 24 hours later!! =O
i just got mine last week from amazon...with 2 day shipping....super awesome service....my experience with amazon has been very excellent...no complaints so far.....i would suggest amazon

From a hardware standpoint, each version is exactly the same. The only real difference is the pre-loaded software/firmware. If you're planning to update via Kies, then it's probably best to flash a Euro firmware and take it from there. I know you mentioned that you don't want to deal with Odin, but honestly it's the best firmware solution for Samsung devices. It's really not that difficult either honestly.
Amazon, even if you have to pay taxes.
Amazon shopping
Got mine from Amazon. $608.99 sold by TRD Trading GMBH white unlocked. Ordered Thursday March 30 Amazon Prime plus $3.99 shipping upgrade I got it Friday. Came in Samsung sealed box. Shipper included a US plug adapter to work with the international Samsung charge adapter and a couple of printed notes for how to change the language at startup from German to English and to setup the APN to AT&T. Had to look in here though to get MMS working.
All in all I'm extremely happy and finally enjoying my Note this weekend.
I got mine in November thru Amazon and TechnoTradingHouse.
Excellent experience with them. Mine was slightly delayed (5 days) and they bent over backwards to keep me posted as the delay was out of their control (customs).

THANK YOU EVERYBODY! Amazon it is
Ive been going back and forth with expansys for the last 2 months with a defective sgs2 that they refuse to replace. Its currently at the uk samsung now going through "tests". Theres a quarter size blemish in the screen thats obvious yet im still jumping through hoops to get a replacent. I will never go with expansys again.

Thanks for the recommendation! I think I am going to go with Amazon due to nostock fees. I remember when I used Exp in the past, they tacked on a nice nostock fee with my return. Although, in the end they are excellent too

Wow. I'm soo sorry to hear of your bad experience. I guess this reinforces my first instinct to go with Amazon. I swear you can buy everything including your spouse on Amazon
There are so many sellers out there selling Note from different countries. Is the one from German is the best one?
I heard it's better to get the one from UK since:
a). They have good customer service and ACCEPT service request from out of UK
b). All the manuals are in English
So which country should I get the Note from? UK, Germany? ROM I can deal with, defective hardware.. well.. if it's not covered by Samsung in the origin country, I just lost $600!!
PS: Global Mobile in Amazon sells their Note from Germany

Sounds like user error to me. They only replace up to 30 days. Never had a issue with them. They actually contacted me to give me a full refund so I can take part of a 100 off promotion they did shortly after my purchase. You kept a sgs2 with a blemish longer then 2sec. Sounds like your fault.
Cant go wrong with expansys. Mine included overnight shipping for free on both devices.
Amazon is much better than Expanys anytime
I got mine from Amazon cos its cheaper
What are your guys thoughts in term of WARRANTY? I spoke with one of most popular seller in Amazon and they said the Note they're selling are Germany version and comes with 2 years warranty.
For warranty work, their approach is:
1). Send the phone back to THEM
2). They'll prep the phone to send it back to Samsung in <insert country here>
So the turnaround time could be in many weeks. I.e. ship to reseller --> reseller ship to Samsung outside of US --> Samsung fixed the phone --> Samsung ship to reseller --> reseller ship to customer.
I've been considering a N7 for a while but have two questions the first is: has Google/Asus acknowledged the issues with the raised screens and just general problems with the screen? If I order one I'd hope that when it arrived it didn't haven't any issues.
The second is I've been reading about the multiple user accounts hidden in JB, are Google likely to release this feature with 4.2? Or sooner?
Cheers

Not sure about the manufacturing problems.
And regarding the user accounts, no-one knows except Google, but I would guess since there is the beginnings of code in 4.1.1, it would be very likely that it will be in the next version of Android!
You have to remember only people with issues tend to post. I have two N7's and so far no screen lift.

Not sure about the user account, but if you buy the nexus 7 you are basicly garenteed to get it if it does ever come out on JB. For the screen lift, I can't speak if I is fixed, but I got a second wave 16gb with no issues. One more thing, if you do get one, get the 16gb, the 8gb it only has 5.3gb of free space to load stuff on. Good luck!
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
I agree get the 16gb
I agree get the 16gb one and a cheap case on Amazon. I picked up a 7 dollar poetic case and waiting on a smart cover like case. Cases also make it easier to Swype. If your going to root pick up a micro to full usb for stick mount.
Ok cheers for the advice guys, I guess if there is an issue I can just get a replacement and the reason I was interested in the user accounts was because it'd be cool for my whole family to use it. I'm now torn between 16GB and 8GB haha. Probably just go for 8 and use USB OTG and save myself £40
Sent from my HTC Desire using xda app-developers app
Def get the 16gb since there's no microsd slot, I wish they had a 32gb for $300.
Have had my Nexus7 for over a week now and have had no problems AT ALL. I was also debating between the 8 and 16gb, and decided to just spend the extra £40 as once you've bought it, you've bought it! It is definitely worth spending the extra £40 to have an extra 8gb on board with you. I've got GTA3, a full backup, a few roms and quite a few apps and i'm down to 8gb so would be out of space already!
Just got my Nexus 10.
I like it but not sure, it's what I'm looking for. I already have a Nexus 4 and 7.
Do I have to justify returning it to Google and is there any charges for this?
I am in the UK.
Thanks
I don't think that they will take it back if it doesn't have production issues . In your situation it would be a way better decision to sell it through ebay with a price a bit higher than in Gplay, I'm sure there are a lot of peoole even inside UK who will buy it with pleasure and you will get some extra cash.

Or just tell them that yours came with some light bleed and you want your money back
Do you think Oneplus One will be jacked up in price as they do with all other devices to the point that the price is no longer an advantage? I think Oneplus One will probably cost more than Nexus devices in Australia due to additional GST and demand.
They'll Jack it up, for whatever reason Lol
I reckon it will start at $400+ here unfortunately

I saw on the India thread that they use exporters to get it shipped to them. Do you guys have an importer you're planning to use? If anything what country are you going to import it from?

Buy it from the USA and use a mail forwarder. Easy !
Traveling to Canada and buying it there and bringing it back
Edit: If I can get an Invite that is :/
Don't buy the US version, just buy it from mobicity

How is the camera and battery life?
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
IMO, it's pretty good.. Previously using iPhone 5.. Went to school with 100% came home with about 60%.. and that's just a two hour lecture.. with about 1 hour bus ride in total.. But now with the OPO, its go with 100% come home with about 80%.. Camera wise, it's fine for me but I don't have a really high requirement considering it's a phone

Personally, I'm getting mine sent to one of my dev friends in America. But you can use a mail forwarding company like Shipito to get it here. I ordered mine (64gb) yesterday, and it ended up costing me $400AUD including standard shipping to the States. The price is a bit inflated due to PayPal's ridiculous conversation rate, which was $0.90 instead of the $0.93 it should have been. On top of that I still need to get it shipped from Illinois to Melbourne, so all up I'm probably looking at anywhere between $430 to $450 I think.
Anyways, hi guys, ours nice to see an Australian thread here.

Hey, I'm in Melbourne too - did you get yours from an invite or 3rd party store?
I'm still hoping to get an invite but am getting impatient and might just pull the trigger on Aliexpress or similar.
Which carrier are you with?

cost me 580 for the cyanogenmod and i received chinese OPO with cyanogenmod rom

any other got same issue?
I ordered mine last night from OnePlus via an invite, waiting on it to ship
@gerardo66 - not sure what the problem is for you there. The only physical difference is the Chinese one doesn't have CyanogenMod stamped on the back.
The 4G band difference doesn't matter over here, because the 700MHz band in the international version doesn't work here anyway.
