The transformer is up on best buy website.
Good looking specs and coming in at Gtab MSRP($399). Should be pretty good.

Not working for me now either, hope its not due to a price mistake .
I can still find it by searching best buy website but it wont let me open the item up.
I figured that was a little too much tablet for $400.
Look at the specs 2.2 lbs. It's a "Transformer" aka brick that converts to a tablet.

Lol, actually that's either the box weight or a typo. It weigh's 1.49 pounds.
The Slider is the 2.2 pound "brick." The Transformer has a keyboard dock that you can put the tablet part onto.
I was mad as hell when I saw this on Engadget... but it's probably is too good to be true. But if the price is legit, I'm definitely returning or selling my gtab for the Asus.
...and it's gone from the Best Buy site. Got a feeling that price is a bit low.

Gone from Amazon.ca too. I really hope it is $399, but I have a feeling it will be at least in the $450 to $600 range. What I don't understand is how more than one site messed the pricing up? Did Asus give them the wrong MSRP or something?

I totally see Asus coming it at that price with a 16gb internal memory. I think what is more likely is Asus wasn't ready to release the pricing to the industry. You know don't give your competitors time to readjust their pricing. They actually manufacture their own products and the parts in it can be bought for quite a bit under that price in the bulk Asus buys at.

Acturbo,
The keyboard has an internal battery, so its normal for it to last LONGER with keyboard attached
Newegg shows prices on their site
Newegg shows the 16GB at $399.00 and a 32GB at $499.00. This maybe what is motivating Viewsonic to reduce the prices on their Gtab. They do not list any pricing on the keyboard/battery pack.
Just looked at Newegg, no longer listed.

They also stated that if the Tablet is running low on battery (or fully out, don't recall) the keyboard dock will recharge the Tab.
This is the only Tablet that I am actually trying to find excuses not to buy...

It's true! Just to let you guys know, I picked up my brand new A500 with 32gb memory and the official Iconia case at Costco for $479.00. Its all included in the box. I think this now officially makes this product kick the Asus in the ass for value and bang for the buck.
Enjoy!

Btw, the card for the product at my costco said 16gb even though the price board said 32. Rest assured it is the 32. As posted on the other post, mine does have gps....don't know where anyone got info it didn't.

Great. I just did the same. Could you please share with me your system information for the 32GB to compare it with mine. I have 1.04.03 and I can not upgrade it to 1.14.07. Thanks.
I just looked and my build number says...
Acer_A500_1.104.02_COM_GEN1

Mine is he same outdated version, the card said 16gb and the box said 32. I am just very disappointed in the video playback performance. Definitely has GPS.
Please varify!
I don't know, am I seeing this right? In the official acer us site, there is another 32Gb version of the iconia which has the same price tag as the 16GB iconia. Here it is:
http://us.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/model/XE.H60PN.006
Someone please verify!
wow that is pretty outdated.... my build is Acer_A500_1.126.03_COM_GEN1
EDIT: just plugged some numbers... and jeee's you lucky Americans..... i paid 400GBP for my tab, which was GOOD over here £50 cheaper than other stores..... thats $665
$479 = £230 ..... for the same version (albeit slightly outdated build)

Yeah, reason is, the US economy is based on competition between retailers, due to the fact the average American will not pay more for an item, than what it's worth. (with the exception of iPhones and Crapweiser beer)
As for those of us across the pond, we have no choice in what to pay In Eastern Europe, like Moscow, the prices are almost exactly the same no matter which shop you go to. However, the internet shops offer cheaper prices. Also, there are the legitimate devices (regulated and approved by russian FCC) and the "grey" devices (those that slip past the regulatory agency). Big difference in prices. Unfortunately, only phones seem to be in the "grey" area.
I am debating to get my first tablet. But having a hard time deciding if I should get the Xoom or the Asus Transformer. Or should I wait to see whats coming in the next few months...
I researched and seems that the negative reviews of the Xooms was when it first came out so wanted some feedbacks from new owners or reviewers.
Please help me decide.
Rank these if your looking at the 32 gb models
1. Build quality
2. Updates
3. Price
if #2 is price then get the transformer
If you care about 1 + 2 then get the xoom.
If your worried about it being outdated then buy it from a place with a 90 day return policy for electronics

I don't know how you can do better on price than $399. at Staples for the fabulous Xoom.
Important to me is features and quality. I'm stuck between the two because I do like motorla products but the features on the TF looks great too. I've heard the TF has a better screen than the Xoom too. Is the correct?
Also, is there a retailer that has 90 return that can match the staples coupon?

Yea I just got the Asus today for a friend and paid $299 for that you really can't go wrong. The screen does look better and you have to ability to get the keyboard to make it a net book. She did that and I must admit its nice piece. I like my Xoom but if I had a choice since mine was purchased for me I would of gotten the TF...

@ OP The transformer has that laptop thing and a better screen + price vs functionality. The xoom has it matched everywhere else. If you don't plan on rooting then we are spoon fed from google.

At Staples you can get the Xoom for $398. If build quality mean's anything to you then Xoom is a No Brainer. This AWESOME device does not feel cheap. I do not know where he picked it up from but you can get it at Office Depot and they will honor the Staples coupon. Office Depot honored the coupon without any debate for me but if they do you can always point them to their policy:

How does our Price Match Guarantee work for in-store purchases?
If you find a lower price at another store on a new, identical item, show us the lower price at the time of purchase and we will match it on the spot. Or show us the lower price within 14 days of your Office Depot purchase and we will pay you the difference. Our price is the final price you pay after any discounts, coupons, instant savings and mail-in savings are applied. We will match the other store's point-of-sale price after deducting their instant rebates and coupons. We will not match the other store's mail-in rebates nor will we deduct the value of any gift with purchase.

MOBO Player, no lag at all. Used ANYDVDHD and DVDCATALYSTS 4 (Beta for Blu-Ray). Works Great
I have both devices and I am still trying to decide which one I like more. The Xoom is built better, no question. The TF has build quality issues, no question. The TF has IPS screen technology, a much better screen than the Xoom but you will deal with light leakage around the edges. The TF offers the keyboard dock which is probably my favorite feature. When I go anywhere with it, I can simply close it and set it down to protect the screen or case, then undock it with a simple slide button. I hate setting my Xoom down, it seems to leave it vulnerable to scratches or damage.
So my best advise is that no matter what you buy today, there will be a better device tomorrow. By Q4 2011, we should have a Tegra3 processor and Android 4 ICS. Then I will pony up for a "best device" and I'll be happy, for a week or so...
*EDIT*
Just for grins, I took a couple of pictures of the Xoom and TF side-by-side. Screen brightness set to 100% on all devices. TF on the left, Xoom on the right. Looking straight-on at the devices, there is a such a small difference. But at any side-to-side angle, the TF is definately better.
First image TF left, Xoom right straight-on
Second image TF left, Xoom right, 45 degree angle
Third image is TF left, Xoom center, VS GTab right straight-on

Q: How often do you need to view it from the side? Won't the Xoom offer more privacy from "prying eyes?"
Super expensive, but that's the price you'll probably have to pay to be an early adopter. Featured on ebay daily deals today so it should be legit.

I think there's no doubt that every Streak owners will/should shift to the Note which is far superior in every aspects to the Streak. At the time being, only its expensive price is holding most of us to make the switch.

I have bought two Notes, but still using my Streak....Reason being that I sold one, and the one that I kept had DEAD Pixels...so sending it back to the seller to get a replacement....hopefully will get it in less than two weeks.....
It's a great phone...however, it seems to have some issues with the screens....many owners on XDA reported some bad screen qualities and dead pixels....
It also has a problem playing videos with Dark/Black scenes...where the Blacks look Blocky.....
That's all I can say for now until I get my replacement

i haven't had a single issue with dark/black screens or blocky
blocky video playback issue is usually associated with encoding issue or decoding
I've had some terrible issues with one of the top gear vids in 720p high profile and that's the only vid where blocky scene will come up where the encoding issue exists

It is the only reason I would dump my Dell Streak. . . I love the reviews and the specs on the Galaxy Note, But. . . . the price tag is too rich for this po' boy
I'm going to buy one after christmas with my christmas money, I've had my streak a year on new years eve, and always updrade once a year. This phone looks like a very welcome step up from the streak in practically every area. The only downside I find is the note doesn't look quite as slick as the streak with its curved edges. But build quality has to be a million times better on the note. I've replaced my screen 4 times on my streak, which is really bad imo. Seeing as I've never once broke a phone screen in my life till I got the streak.

Is this tab a good deal for $279? Its the 16gb version norm price is $379. I just wanna make sure everything works well. Any problems with this tab? I have the Lenovo Ideapad K1 and the biggest problem I have with it, is its has horrible WiFi signal and I haven't seen any WiFi issues with this tab. But I did notice that this tab doesn't have gorilla glass. So I also want to make sure the glass doesn't get to scratched easily and that its sensitive enough.
Thanks, Dev

Good luck actually getting one, but I think it sounds like a good deal. Remember this does have expandable memory, so really internal storage isn't a huge problem. I had the transformer prime for a while, loved it, but couldn't justify the expense so I returned it. This thing is the exact same device with a plastic back and slightly lower res screen If this sale is going on cyber Monday too I'm certainly snagging one.

It sounds like a good deal to me. I'd run with it. I have the 32 GB version, with another 32 GB micro SD card. I paid $297 for mine on the no tax weekend at Micro Center in St. Louis. These were on clearance. I've had 4 tablets already, the Acer Iconia 500, the iPad 2, the Galaxy Tab 2, and this one. I've enjoyed this one more than all the others.
Today, a boss of mine, that I see once a year, came in, and noticed he had an iPad with him. I really wanted to say to him, "So, you got a pretentious hunk of junk, huh?" But I figured that would hurt his feelings.

Same here...sure would like the link so could pick it up at Bestbuy and not hassle with Black Friday crowds! Like the $299 OfficeDepot price for the 32GB but w/sd card don't think I need the add'l 16GB. Other than production apps that can't use SD storage, any major benefit for getting the 32Gb model?
Also (and new thread likely best, but...) this'll be my first tablet. Mostly for multimedia, browsing, e-books, & general game playing - considering Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 too. Though Galaxy might(?) have a better multimedia experience (not so much into the Galaxy's "extra" GUI), but TF300T seems to have better multimedia & overall performance. Am I losing much if any on graphics & sound in going for the better performance? Sorry, I know it's been discussed some elsewhere, but need some additional thoughts to help me know I'm not making the wrong choice!

My advice is to make sure you can return it just in case you're not happy with it. I/O issue plagues most of current Asus pads so in the end, lower price may not justify the frustration. Again you might be ok with it but just in case.

Good point - just checked with Office Depot and they do give 14 days to return it for a full refund. So that shouldn't be a problem...
As for the I/O issue, how prevalent is it? I did a quick search and did find some references. This has me greatly concerned and if it's that big problem of a problem, then about only alternative is the Galaxy Tab 2 10.1. But being a dual core, was worried it'd be noticeably slow in running apps, browsing/viewing multimedia, etc. Did like some aspects of the Galaxy, but was really leaning towards the TF300T.
Just came across one XDA thread from August discussing ASUS working on fixing this and the OTA 4.0.4 greatly helped the benchmarks. Is it possible a new kernel or update has corrected the issues at this point? Another in September mentioned using a custom ROM...I plan on rooting it, though just as with my EVO3D thought I'd stay with the stock rooted ROM. I'd figure this an option to help correct the problem if I do encounter it (and if necessary, run a different ROM)?
Lastly, how difficult is it to root?
Thanks much for the insights!!
Can you get the Black version only at BB? I would love to get that one but online for $279..

I noticed on the Office Depot Black Friday ad that they have the TF300T 32Gb for $299.99 (advertised as blue so may not be the black you want). Some items are available for sale online tomorrow - Update: turns out have to go to the store on Friday morning to get this deal. I know it's an extra $20 and quite possibly blue, but still a good deal...
And yes, after reading more I feel less wary of the i/o issue. Some had encountered it, others not and seemed that OTA updates (possibly moving from ICS to Jelly Bean) helped. Plus rooting and running a custom ROM is another option or worst case, bring it back...
Looks like another round of learning regarding unlocking the bootloader and rooting. Was reading a bit about being able to do OTA updates if rooted (but not unlocked), and restoring root after. Seems to me on my EVO3D doing OTA's after unlocking & rooting weren't recommended, and that may be the case here too? I do have to go back and do more reading on these topics!
