Howdy,
I've finally aligned the stars and am ready to by the international note. Before I buy, I'd like to know how everyone feels about buying through Expanys USA vs. Amazon. I've used both companies before so I am very comfortable buying phones from them.
I just want to make sure that I get the version that has been updating the fastest. Not talking about ODIN, but software update to come to phone.
What versions are they selling - German, Hong Kong, etc?
Thanks!
You can probably get it for a bit cheaper off Amazon. If you're buying via Expansys make sure you look up for some discount vouchers. I bought my white international Galaxy Note from Expansys just 2 weeks ago and wow, next day shipping was AMAZING!
I got mine from expansys its German.

Amazon price has dropped significantly. Bought mine there. Came with KK2.

At this point just get it for the cheapest. If you choose amazon, make sure to check out the seller feedback. I personally went with expansys when it was first released.
Unless its under a certain price, i rather spend the extra for smooth transaction. Amazon is to much like ebay.
just wanted to vouch for global mobiles on amazon..i bought by note from them about 2 weeks ago ($30 more expensive then..=(), and they were fantastic. perfect condition German model, packed well, very attentive to detail.
also had 1-day shipping for 3.99 on prime..and it arrived less than 24 hours later!! =O
i just got mine last week from amazon...with 2 day shipping....super awesome service....my experience with amazon has been very excellent...no complaints so far.....i would suggest amazon

From a hardware standpoint, each version is exactly the same. The only real difference is the pre-loaded software/firmware. If you're planning to update via Kies, then it's probably best to flash a Euro firmware and take it from there. I know you mentioned that you don't want to deal with Odin, but honestly it's the best firmware solution for Samsung devices. It's really not that difficult either honestly.
Amazon, even if you have to pay taxes.
Amazon shopping
Got mine from Amazon. $608.99 sold by TRD Trading GMBH white unlocked. Ordered Thursday March 30 Amazon Prime plus $3.99 shipping upgrade I got it Friday. Came in Samsung sealed box. Shipper included a US plug adapter to work with the international Samsung charge adapter and a couple of printed notes for how to change the language at startup from German to English and to setup the APN to AT&T. Had to look in here though to get MMS working.
All in all I'm extremely happy and finally enjoying my Note this weekend.
I got mine in November thru Amazon and TechnoTradingHouse.
Excellent experience with them. Mine was slightly delayed (5 days) and they bent over backwards to keep me posted as the delay was out of their control (customs).

Thanks for the recommendation! I think I am going to go with Amazon due to nostock fees. I remember when I used Exp in the past, they tacked on a nice nostock fee with my return. Although, in the end they are excellent too

Wow. I'm soo sorry to hear of your bad experience. I guess this reinforces my first instinct to go with Amazon. I swear you can buy everything including your spouse on Amazon
There are so many sellers out there selling Note from different countries. Is the one from German is the best one?
I heard it's better to get the one from UK since:
a). They have good customer service and ACCEPT service request from out of UK
b). All the manuals are in English
So which country should I get the Note from? UK, Germany? ROM I can deal with, defective hardware.. well.. if it's not covered by Samsung in the origin country, I just lost $600!!
PS: Global Mobile in Amazon sells their Note from Germany

Sounds like user error to me. They only replace up to 30 days. Never had a issue with them. They actually contacted me to give me a full refund so I can take part of a 100 off promotion they did shortly after my purchase. You kept a sgs2 with a blemish longer then 2sec. Sounds like your fault.
Cant go wrong with expansys. Mine included overnight shipping for free on both devices.
Amazon is much better than Expanys anytime
I got mine from Amazon cos its cheaper
What are your guys thoughts in term of WARRANTY? I spoke with one of most popular seller in Amazon and they said the Note they're selling are Germany version and comes with 2 years warranty.
For warranty work, their approach is:
1). Send the phone back to THEM
2). They'll prep the phone to send it back to Samsung in <insert country here>
So the turnaround time could be in many weeks. I.e. ship to reseller --> reseller ship to Samsung outside of US --> Samsung fixed the phone --> Samsung ship to reseller --> reseller ship to customer.

Yep, and given that for $741 USD you can get it in Switzerland/Germany, there's no way I'm forking out over $800 for it.
Seems that in the netherlands they list it for €590 (us$815)
I always hate it when a device is more expensive in specific regions
mobicity and smoothmobiles.com.au both have them now.
mobicity- $899
smoothmobiles- $895
im not sure whether to get one or not, its a extremly hefty price. i was planning on getting a normal galaxy S again, ( other died, no warranty cause i bought it 2nd hand and the owner is not here no more ) so i was going to get a brand new one
not sure what to do now.
Yeah, I'm gonna have to buy one me thinks - I'm addicted to my SGS and an upgrade will be awesome

If its on the Optus $59 I will, if its on the $79 its too much imo, I'd rather get the Arc
I'm selling my iPhone 4 and will just buy it outright from uk, Australia is just such a ripp off.
I'm half way through my contract with optus so, I sell my iPhone for $700 and the gs2 was $724 so for $24 dollars I have upgraded. to top it of when my contract runs out I'll get the sgs3 lol yayyyyyy
Yeah replacing my Atrix with my SG2 which will hopefully be here by Friday. Ordered from Handtec as i didn't wanna get ripped off by Aus online resellers lol
Hey guys, who's getting their SGSII from where?
How much did/will it cost you (in AU$)
Is it NextG?
Which processor?
NFC?
Anyone here ordered a UK versrion of the sgs2? I take it ill have to get an adapter for the charger considering the sockets are different?
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA Premium App
I bought from Mobicity, $900 (yay for disposable income). It says NextG compatible, no NFC and with the Samsung CPU (not NVIDIA Tegra 2)
hmmm.... I might get one from expansys.... will probably wait until next week and scope out a few other places as well.
I was upset that it won't have NFC because I believe NFC will become common use in everyday life sometime soon.... but after a bit of research I think NFC will be more commonly built into sim cards instead of phones themselves, so it's not so much an issue for me now. Also it's probably not going to hit mainstream until after the London Olympics by which time I'll have a new phone anyway.
handtec, price was AUD $700, i don't care about NFC, it is gonna be switched off constantly anyways, don't think it will get popular soon
Where to buy
Hey guys,
I've been doing some research on where to buy, I'm listing them in cost order, cheapest first. If I've missed out on a site, let me know.
If there is any reason why you wouldn't buy from the cheapest, please let me know.
I've never bought a phone online before and I'm kinda anxious about it.
I've gone as far in the checkout as I can, and prices include shipping to Melbourne, the cheapest option (no more than 7 working days).
Not VAT. Is that correct?
Currency conversions using Google on 4/05.
Unlocked Mobiles £435 $663
Handtec £456 $695
Clove £464 $707
Expansys $720
Mobiciti$914
Smooth Mobiles $924
So the cheapest is from Unlocked Mobiles, and the cheapest Australian store is Expansys.
Which store are you going to buy from, and why?
!!!!!!! I had it all nicely formatted, and the name of each site was a direct link to that website's listing for the SGSII.
But I can't post links.
Spent ages typing it up too...
my DHL online tracking still says Departed Facility in LONDON-HEATHROW - UK, same as 30 hrs ago... hm..... hope i can get it tomorrow

I can't afford to buy outright just now, so I am waiting patiently for it to be released so I can grab it on my plan with Optus! Waiting, Waiting, WAITING!
I droped my Galaxy tab and the screen is craked, however it is insured with Currys Knowhow they are not replacing it or going to fix it they gave me vouchers to the value of the product .
I went to my local Curry's to buy a new tab and was told that the original model the one that makes and receives calls has been discontinued. I am devastated I use my tab to make calls, for work, emails, diary, calender, to do, the alarm and so much more it has become part of my life. I like the tab because I only have to carry the one device. There is an alternative, I could buy the phone free model but I will still need a phone and I will be carrying two devices.
I've been told by Curry's that they will be stocking the Samsung 10" model but for me this model is to big. My question is will Samsung bring out another 7" model or is the 7" tablet dead?
So curry's are only stocking the P-1010 wifi model now? That sucks.
Have you tried carphonewarehouse? I saw some there last week, price unknown though.

I ordered one few nights ago at €529, but last night it was €568, price keeps varying. A lot of the reviews on the amazon.co.uk website state that they have bought it from www.amazon.de with no hassle.

I also saw the new price on amazon.de. Very exciting. I finally am getting the cash to buy mine and I'll get mine from there if the price doesn't change to much.
Also, the £ sign on Windows is hold alt + 0163 and then let go of alt.
On mac it is apparently alt/option 3.
I also have a US keyboard in the UK. I prefer the layout in general and just use the alt trick to get the £ when I need it.
Your Note will come straight from Amazon.de. Even recently open spanish store Amazon.es gets their Notes from germany warehouse (they actually warn "imported from germany").
The same with Galaxy S2 that bought a month ago for a friend. You buy on spanish store and it comes from wherever it suits them (france, UK, germany).
About the price, it seems lije "A day at Stock Change". The prices go wildly up and down as low as 525 and as high as 650. Different prices the same day on different EU stores, so you must keep an eye.
Just taking a poll for people who have bought their Note 2 from Newegg.
Does the Note 2 look brand new when it arrived?
Any issues with the phone?
Do you know which country the phone was made for?
Thanks
I ordered one. It just went on sale at that price yesterday. I doubt they have been delivered yet.
Got my white one from Newegg two weeks ago. Was brand new and the box had three seals on it. Has a North American charger. No issues with the phone. I think it was for South America? The menu was initially in Spanish. Loving it. It's a steal at $589 currently!
I got one from newegg.ca. It arrived in Vancouver after about 4 days.
It is the international N7100 version. No LTE, but it does have HSPA+. ALJ3 build.
The packaging was new, sealed, and everything looked unopened. I know the real sleezy dealers have ways of sealing the box back up, but I'm pretty sure my model was brand new. Newegg is usually pretty good, and I don't think they would open the box without a reason. I think this model comes from the factory unlocked, so there is no need for newegg to open it to unlock it. These phones are probably too new to worry about getting a refurbished unit.
I wouldn't worry about it. Even though they are now available in Canada, I still would rather have the N7100 as I hear it is faster than the LTE version.
-PW
Ordered one yesterday and newegg didn't make the delivery time today. Should of just picked it up instead
NewEgg has always been good for me. I would have preferred to order from them instead of the EBay seller last week. Not talking bad about that Ebay seller, he did a great job and shipped out the same day I bought. That's better then me when I sell on Ebay! Not to mention some how I got around paying tax on it. I just ran across a few dead beat sellers on Ebay in the past. i trust NewEgg better then Ebay, 1Dealaday, IceMonkey and TigerDirect.
Ordered mine last night...
should be here tuesday of next week...will report my findings upon receipt...

well newegg is a site that's known to sell new and refurb'd smartphones, so asking if the phone "looks new" prompted what would, to me, be an obvious alternative to "looking new"...if someone answered stating that the phone did NOT look new, then it would either be used or refurb...also 2 + 2 = 4
it's called "context clues'"...and you are not so bright...
i bid you peace...
Ordered mine today, just to good of a deal at $589 shipped. The site says 'new'. I have always found Newegg to be a reliable seller, I am pretty sure it is new in box. :good:
Some of the shady on-line retail sites will take referb phones and ship them as new, for full price.
This is not usually a practice newegg is involved with.
I think, reading between the lines, that is part of what the OP was asking. Maybe not, but it's good to put it out there anyway. It is a legitimate concern.

2. No issues so far.

I actually got this disclaimer when I ordered mine. I thought it was a little strange and made me second guess my order, since the international version is supposed to ship unlocked from the factory. Newegg should not have to open it.
As mentioned, it turned out to be brand new and sealed when it arrived.
As a side note, it should be noted that the N7100 (which is the one newegg carries) is non-LTE. If you want LTE, get one from your carrier or wait until newegg carries the 7105.
Got mine yesterday...brand new in the box...:good:

Absolutely, although good luck dealing with Samsung warranty Amazon gives you 1 year 'Amazon' warranty no questions asked.. We all know how good their customer support is..
As for worldwide warranty, I've had issues with it before (albeit Sony).. Bought a Sony laptop from Dubai, had a fault, Sony in Cyprus wouldn't accept it for replacement/fixing.

Yes, very good experience for me as well with Amazon UK. My Galaxy S3 stopped working suddenly DAYS before the end of the 1-year warranty (switched off by itself, couldn't switch it back on even after swapping the battery). Despite the fact that it was rooted and running a custom ROM, they changed it with no question asked for a new one that I received the day after (even before I sent the old one back), They also asked me if I wanted a full refund instead, which retrospectively I should have done, since the price had dropped and I could get a new one for cheaper

That's good to hear. The only reason I am a bit wary of Samsung warranty is when you trip Knox.. I highly doubt Amazon would care about that; Sammy on the other hand is a different story. I talked to a representative of theirs a few days back about the whole Knox tripping warranty thing and oh boy they didn't like it.. I even showed him the legislation and talked about a scenario where I take Samsung to a small claims court, etc and he insisted Samsung will not fulfill warranty for whatever reason if Knox has been tripped.
I had a run in recently with Samsung mobile support and only after 4 months, and threatening legal action, did I get a replacement phone. My previous note 4 had issues with unstable WiFi but they wouldn't accept this was happening because they couldn't replicate the problem. I was specifically asked about whether I had modified it in any way (as in software) before they arranged for a repair. I'm not sure whether the repair centres that the phones are sent to actually check the Knox counter. In my opinion, they didn't do much other than flash the firmware again which I had already done. Bad experience with Samsung mobile support. Had a problem ages ago with first galaxy s1 with o2 and they replaced it after second time it was sent in for repair worth a new s2.

Carphone Warehouse or samsung are having a laugh
Standard S6 sim free prices are thus, I would hate to see the prices for the edge,
£600 32GB
£660 64GB
£740 128GB

WOW.. I was expecting those prices to be for the Edge and 50/100 pounds cheaper for the S6..

I definately made the right decision to wait til later down in the year for the s6 because there is no way imo the S6 is worth that much.
I was expecting more like £550-570 for 32GB, £600-620 64GB and £670-700 for 128GB.

Unfortunately I can't wait that long. My Nexus 5 is dying right before my very eyes.. I was hoping to get away with the 64GB S6 Edge for £700 max but doesn't look like that will be the case..
