I'm most likely going to pre-order a Black S6 64GB. I am expecting it between £599-649 with a free wireless charger included.

I won't pre-order, I can wait

Only place I'll be buying from is Amazon UK.. Come on Amazon open the pre-orders already!

Do you really think Samsung will throw in a free wireless charging pad? I guess it's a possibility but they've not been know to thrown in free stuff.
I'm in two minds whether to pre order or not. I'd prefer to check out full reviews beforehand but that might be to my detriment if Samsung do thrown in a bonus with pre orders.

With the current favourable euro rate, I wonder is it worth buying from amazon.de or amazon.fr ?

Yes - well worth exploring this. I'll be looking tomorrow. Need to be sure warranty covers EU though right.

If you order from Amazon DE for example, then if you have issues you need to return to Amazon DE. Amazon UK won't accept returns for any reason which is a bit of a pain.

My guess is though, that samsung uk would have to honour the warranty on any samsung products, no?

Absolutely, although good luck dealing with Samsung warranty Amazon gives you 1 year 'Amazon' warranty no questions asked.. We all know how good their customer support is..
As for worldwide warranty, I've had issues with it before (albeit Sony).. Bought a Sony laptop from Dubai, had a fault, Sony in Cyprus wouldn't accept it for replacement/fixing.

Have to say I had an exceptional experience with samsung when my note 2 developed a fault with the flash memory. Send them the phone and it was back to me, fixed within a few days. I think the phone was about 18 months old at that stage.

Yes, very good experience for me as well with Amazon UK. My Galaxy S3 stopped working suddenly DAYS before the end of the 1-year warranty (switched off by itself, couldn't switch it back on even after swapping the battery). Despite the fact that it was rooted and running a custom ROM, they changed it with no question asked for a new one that I received the day after (even before I sent the old one back), They also asked me if I wanted a full refund instead, which retrospectively I should have done, since the price had dropped and I could get a new one for cheaper

That's good to hear. The only reason I am a bit wary of Samsung warranty is when you trip Knox.. I highly doubt Amazon would care about that; Sammy on the other hand is a different story. I talked to a representative of theirs a few days back about the whole Knox tripping warranty thing and oh boy they didn't like it.. I even showed him the legislation and talked about a scenario where I take Samsung to a small claims court, etc and he insisted Samsung will not fulfill warranty for whatever reason if Knox has been tripped.

I had a run in recently with Samsung mobile support and only after 4 months, and threatening legal action, did I get a replacement phone. My previous note 4 had issues with unstable WiFi but they wouldn't accept this was happening because they couldn't replicate the problem. I was specifically asked about whether I had modified it in any way (as in software) before they arranged for a repair. I'm not sure whether the repair centres that the phones are sent to actually check the Knox counter. In my opinion, they didn't do much other than flash the firmware again which I had already done. Bad experience with Samsung mobile support. Had a problem ages ago with first galaxy s1 with o2 and they replaced it after second time it was sent in for repair worth a new s2.

Good to know it. There's a lot of reasons to decide to buy a mobile phone or another, but people never thinks bout the warranty and technical support. Good for Samsung!

I definately made the right decision to wait til later down in the year for the s6 because there is no way imo the S6 is worth that much.
I was expecting more like £550-570 for 32GB, £600-620 64GB and £670-700 for 128GB.

Play.com (UK) - Price and Order date now showing

Pfffffttt ... what the!
I've been keeping an eye on Amazon UK and Play UK for the Galaxy tab, well Play now have a price and release date for the 16GB version ..... are you sitting down?
£899.99 Free delivery Due for release on 04 July 2011.
Edit: The spec isn't right either.
899 GBP for 16GB???? !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
No way ... too damn expensive ...
They are either mistaken or they're taking the piss, Amazon.de are advertising it at EUR 637,98, that's about £563.
I've just emailed Play.com asking why the price is so high and they've just responded with:-
Dear Customer,
We are pleased to inform you that 'Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 / Dual Core 1GHz / 16GB / 10.1 inch Touch Screen / Android 3.0 Honeycomb / Tablet' is now available to order. Click on the link below to pre-order now!

At that rate it would be better to order from Amazon.de although Amazon UK may announce a price soon? What are the implications of buying a German unit, it is just classed as a European unit, warranty wise etc?
Yes,
in this regard EU is treated as one so id does not really matter where you buy.
The only difference might be a posting cost.
I have bought stuff from Pixmania (FR) when I was living in the UK with delivery to Poland. (no problems). I have just bought (now being in Poland) Sapphire Xtreme HD 5850 - also no problem.
So... if amazon.de is first to send them away you do not risk anything.
In the past I bought Vaio form Sony Outlet in Holland - fine as well.
Having that in mind... I wonder if Apple isn't breaking the law (EU law) by offering only 12 months of warranty???
As far as I know all manufacturers selling their products in EU are supposed to offer 2 yr. warranty at minimum (no less).
And again on a different note... I am quite grateful for EU being regarded by manufacturers as one country/market. In the past we would wait ages in separate countries for lunch of devices, prices, updates, etc... it is without a doubt better than before we were all completely separate.
I called Play.com and they are looking into it to see if it is a pricing error. They will email me when they know more.
In the mean time, we need to find the best place to get this device in the UK, even if that means ordering from elsewhere in Europe.
I will let you know ass soon as they are available in PL. With Polish Zloty loosing ground because of Greece it might actually work out cheaper for you .
At the moment you are looking at approx. 625 EURO (predicted price, dont know about delivery).
Another issue is, although Samsung will honor warranty in Europe, if the product is faulty when it arrives I will need to send it back to the retailer and they might be abroad. Postage and a language barrier might cause some hassle.

That was my concern with getting stuff from USA (Motorola does not have a worldwide warranty and again - if you buy in USA, you only have 12 months ).
With buy in in EU it is not a problem - buy in Poland, UK, Greece - and you can get it repaired or exchanged through your local representative/service/etc.
It is very nice that it works this way.

Actually I think that was just an automated email as I'd signed up to be notified of availability, it can't be the response to my WTF email re the price on their site.
Folks, thanks for your input ref European warranty.
Thanks for the heads-up up on that, but that price must be a provisional one, much as happened with the initial pricing of the GS 2, which saw its price gradually drop down as its release approached to a much more reasonable level.
I have had my "hands on" today with Transformer.
As I treat this as "tablet for a while" I also want to be able to sell it easily in future and loose as little as possible.
SG 10.1 as much as it is sexy is too limited.
My choice will be Transformer 16GB + keyboard dock - and than I will wait for Kal-El or something else (light, with sd slot that plays mkv and other formats and has sexy look and great batt. life) - this will keep me going for a while.
At the moment I am only thinking... buy now (and use netbook as well) or wait till netflix app will show up as it should have a better price by that time... (I hope non of you think it - netflix app - will not show up).

You're most likely right about it being a provisional price, but what happens if a buyer orders it at the over inflated price and it then reduces by say £300, would they get it at the reduced price?
I'm weary of Play, they tried to pull a fast one on me a few months ago.

Yes that's what I did with the Transformer, I do prefer to be able to walk in and get it sorted straight away.
Called up Play.com and now they are looking into the specifications.
It probably didn't help that I got pissed off at the guy because he was giving me generic answers, so when he asked me how I knew their website was wrong I said I work in the IT sector and carry out the necessary research rather than spend all day talking to customers in a monotone and boring voice.
A galaxy tab for a down to earth price...
When the Transformer wasn't widely available, Carphone Warehouse had it. I ordered and it came the next day. I returned it to my local CPW (because of a screen gap), they refunded my card straight away.
Thinking about it though, the Galaxy Tab is expensive compared to the $499 that the US is being charged...so tempted to order it from Amazon.com using viaddress. I haven't used them before, but I'm thinking worst case scenario, I have to pay import duty so that'd put it near the price of Amazon.de - but if it works out, I could get one for about £350. Either way i'd probably get it in a week...

Where to order from? (USA)

So after seeing nothing interesting in the AT&T announcement, I placed my order yesterday with Handtec.co.uk. Even though it was showing in stock, I got an email stating that it ran out of stock just as they were fulfilling my order.
I have Amazon Prime but they are showing 1-2 months shipping time. I'm trying to decide between waiting or paying a premium.
Any suggested reputable sites? I'm in Houston, TX if that matters.

If the GNote is fullfilled by Amazon, which mine from Global Mobiles is, the regular Amazon return policy is in effect. Might not help with warranty issues but you could return it if not to your satisfaction. I then bought aftermarket insurance for lost or damaged phone.
while they are not a US warranty - many still have warranties, including the Amazon sellers. Many selling from Hong Kong or UK , so you have to ship back there but are warrantied by authorized Samsung in that country. On ebay many reputable sellers have their own 1 yr warranty. Or on ebay most have squaredeals warranty for $89 ( on defects for 2 years) in the pulldown. Or through the squaredeals sits you can get a more expensive defects and accidents warranty ( w a $99 deductable).

For whatever reason, even Newegg has decided to stop selling the Galaxy Note. I get the feeling that even Amazon's shipment of 1-2 months won't be restocked.
It's like all of the affordable US sellers decided to stop importing the Note. I have a 100 GC with Amazon ....argh.

I see several sellers with the Note in stock at Amazon at 730.00 with shipping of a little over 5 bucks. Handtec is selling for £485.99 which converts to 751.53 US and that would be just for the Note.
So unless I'm missing something, get one from one of the sellers at Amazon who say they have it in stock.

Amazon or Expanys USA

Howdy,
I've finally aligned the stars and am ready to by the international note. Before I buy, I'd like to know how everyone feels about buying through Expanys USA vs. Amazon. I've used both companies before so I am very comfortable buying phones from them.
I just want to make sure that I get the version that has been updating the fastest. Not talking about ODIN, but software update to come to phone.
What versions are they selling - German, Hong Kong, etc?
Thanks!
You can probably get it for a bit cheaper off Amazon. If you're buying via Expansys make sure you look up for some discount vouchers. I bought my white international Galaxy Note from Expansys just 2 weeks ago and wow, next day shipping was AMAZING!
I got mine from expansys its German.

Unless its under a certain price, i rather spend the extra for smooth transaction. Amazon is to much like ebay.
just wanted to vouch for global mobiles on amazon..i bought by note from them about 2 weeks ago ($30 more expensive then..=(), and they were fantastic. perfect condition German model, packed well, very attentive to detail.
also had 1-day shipping for 3.99 on prime..and it arrived less than 24 hours later!! =O

From a hardware standpoint, each version is exactly the same. The only real difference is the pre-loaded software/firmware. If you're planning to update via Kies, then it's probably best to flash a Euro firmware and take it from there. I know you mentioned that you don't want to deal with Odin, but honestly it's the best firmware solution for Samsung devices. It's really not that difficult either honestly.
Amazon, even if you have to pay taxes.
Amazon shopping
Got mine from Amazon. $608.99 sold by TRD Trading GMBH white unlocked. Ordered Thursday March 30 Amazon Prime plus $3.99 shipping upgrade I got it Friday. Came in Samsung sealed box. Shipper included a US plug adapter to work with the international Samsung charge adapter and a couple of printed notes for how to change the language at startup from German to English and to setup the APN to AT&T. Had to look in here though to get MMS working.
All in all I'm extremely happy and finally enjoying my Note this weekend.
I got mine in November thru Amazon and TechnoTradingHouse.
Excellent experience with them. Mine was slightly delayed (5 days) and they bent over backwards to keep me posted as the delay was out of their control (customs).

There are so many sellers out there selling Note from different countries. Is the one from German is the best one?
I heard it's better to get the one from UK since:
a). They have good customer service and ACCEPT service request from out of UK
b). All the manuals are in English
So which country should I get the Note from? UK, Germany? ROM I can deal with, defective hardware.. well.. if it's not covered by Samsung in the origin country, I just lost $600!!
PS: Global Mobile in Amazon sells their Note from Germany

Sounds like user error to me. They only replace up to 30 days. Never had a issue with them. They actually contacted me to give me a full refund so I can take part of a 100 off promotion they did shortly after my purchase. You kept a sgs2 with a blemish longer then 2sec. Sounds like your fault.
Cant go wrong with expansys. Mine included overnight shipping for free on both devices.
Amazon is much better than Expanys anytime
I got mine from Amazon cos its cheaper
What are your guys thoughts in term of WARRANTY? I spoke with one of most popular seller in Amazon and they said the Note they're selling are Germany version and comes with 2 years warranty.
For warranty work, their approach is:
1). Send the phone back to THEM
2). They'll prep the phone to send it back to Samsung in <insert country here>
So the turnaround time could be in many weeks. I.e. ship to reseller --> reseller ship to Samsung outside of US --> Samsung fixed the phone --> Samsung ship to reseller --> reseller ship to customer.

Its not presale. one phone is 500 usd and 2 was min to order. The seler has 100 % positive feedback
Search it on ebay galaxy s4
looks pretty legit aside the photos are dummy phone looking or stock photos.
If you fail to see that this is fake then you deserve to have your money taken from you, period!
I did email the seller.
and here's his response to me.
Hi,
Quick info about my items:
- 100% factory unlocked, 100% genuine Samsung Galaxy S4 GT-I9500 in original sealed boxes. I have both colors: White and Black.
- I have EU, UK and US version of the phone with 64GB. You can use them in any country with any sim card.
- The phones are bought directly from factory and also this is the reason why the prices are low. They all have 1 year international warranty.
- I can send them with DHL, FedEx, UPS, Royal Mail or your preferred shipping company. The items are sent from my warehouse in Glasgow.
- Free Customs. That is right... Free Customs. I gathered a lot of experience sending items internationally and Customs are not a problem anymore.
- As you can see in my description: Pickup is not available at this time as i do not hold stock on hand for security and reliability reasons.
- I will provide IMEI and custom photos ONLY after i have payment confirmation from eBay.
Minimum order is 2 (no exceptions). My stock is greater than 20 and also you will get great discounts for bulk orders. How many phones do you want ?
Thanks

Definitely a scam. Possible hijacked eBay account. Seller asks to pay through bank transfer not PayPal. Run! Or kiss your money goodbye.

Don't get sucked into the hype wait a few weeks pay a decent price. You will only be "first on the block" for very short time and there's no development around or rooting available yet

Don't do it.
The price of this device will be the same when it's released in your store nearby, and you will have a 100% warranty it works or replacement or repairs. You won't get warranty if bought from eBay for sure and they are all PRE ORDER ( PRE SALE ), dispatch will be from 30th April. All written in the description of the product page on eBay.
My advice; wait.
Even if it was legit, I wouldn't order anything that would be shipped out of another country other than my own. Even if the item were socks.
I've bought about a dozen phones through Ebay the last 2 years, sticking will decently rated sellers, 97% and up, and have never had a problem. (Other than the 97% guy shipping too slow; now I go 99%.)
This includes a new OneX, a GT-I9300 and an Xperia P, all from Hong Kong.
Rumor 2 days old about sales already in China, and I've seen several Ebay sales and auctions go through for GT-I9500, for allegedly immediately available stock. I posted in this price thread about the $612 - $840 or so price range, the lower for 2 at $1225: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=39194227#post39194227 Buy it now guy seems to be in the US.
I can't vouch for any of the vendors. As far as I know, as long as you stick with EBay/Paypal, purchase should be protected. If it's a scam, then it appears to me probably at least a dozen or 2 people have been scammed and it will become well known.
I'm waiting to see if anyone posts their purchase (or scam) here. Perhaps they're getting early production units with more faults than average. Under Features Radio for one listing though is TBD, LOL. Maybe the app and other software features aren't ready for prime-time yet.

UK pricing - going up, not down!

Normally a few months after the initial surge of interest in a product dies down, the price tends to drop a little. However for some reason the Note 10.1 2014 seems to be going up if anything here in the UK, although in the States it does appear to be dropping.
The US price is now generally around $499 (plus tax) for the wi-fi model, while the UK price has gone up from under £400 a few months ago (£365 at John Lewis I gather) to nearer £450 most places.
Does anyone know what's going on, have Samsung UK increased their suggested price or something?

When I saw the UK prices, it really baulked me.
I wanted a tablet that not only worked on Wi-Fi, but 3G, 4G/LTE, but I couldn't get one, especially a 32Gb model, which I consider to be the basement model (I wouldn't even consider a 16Gb).
I nearly paid the extra for an Ipad, however I decided to do more research and in the end I imported one from HK and even when I paid the VAT on it, it came in significantly cheaper than some of the prices of the 16Gb, Wi-Fi model.
It's worth doing a little extra research and importing it yourself and get a better specified machine, at a lower price.
I could pick one up in the States next time I'm over there, but I'm a little wary of not having a proper international warranty as that caught me out once (thanks Samsung, so much for global corporations!).
16GB actually doesn't worry me as long as it has an SD card slot, much cheaper to put 64GB onto it that way than pay for a bigger base model. Well, upcoming stock KitKat stupidities notwithstanding anyway, but that won't be hard to fix.

Why buy a 16Gb one? You can get the 32Gb version quite easily over there, but the currency conversion made it more expensive to buy it from the US, also I used PayPal to pay for it, so I had a bit of protection too.
My SM-P605 has a 64Gb card in and I'm already running low on memory, so I only hope that the new SanDisk 128Gb card comes out soon at a reasonable price.
I think a few places had them on offer just before and after christmas. Got mine from John Lewis for £399 in mid jan, took ages to find somewhere with one in stock at that price. There were quite a few places charging (or trying to) over £500! I think about £450 was the average book price but so many places were out of stock, or were trying to sell the old one still at £399........
They want to sell the new Tab 10.1 at such a high price, that they had to raise that of the note, to keep people from going straight for a note instead.
Let's be honest. Samsung charging iPad+ prices for the Pro/Note series takes balls of steel. Android tablets are bought typically by bargain seekers unwilling to pay iPad prices and are typically 7-8" and under $250. One thing iPads have always provided was a certain cache and snob appeal; everyone knows what everyone else paid. With the Pro/Note's Samsung seems to be raising the snob appeal. With the 16GB iPad Air at 399 GBP whether Samsung prices at 375 GBP or 425 GBP it's still close enough that if people really considered a high-end Android tablet as an iPad alternative they'd still buy it. I don't think someone predisposed to an iPad would say "I'll buy the Samsung Tab|Pro because I'll save 50 GBP." How many people think a high-end Android tablet is an iPad alternative is a whole different discussion and will be proven by the success (or failure) of Samsung's strategy in offering the Pro/Note series in the first place.
The G-Tab 4 certainly is a step down in design and specs so perhaps Samsung's strategy is to make the 4's their volume seller (EG: BMW 3-series) and the Pro/Note's their margin leader (EG: BMW 7-series).
Apparently the Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 10.1 will pack a 10.6″ (odd, right?) display of 1280×800 pixels resolution and will run on Snapdragon 400 chipset with a quad-core 1.2GHz Cortex-A7 processor, Adreno 305 GPU and 1.5GB of RAM. Other revealed specs are the 3MP rear and the 1.2MP front camera, 16GB internal storage (12GB actually available) and the latest Android 4.4.2 KitKat OS. Digging into the GFX Benchmark database you can also find the Galaxy Tab 4 8.0. It has absolutely the same specs but less screen estate.
I got my 32gb LTE P605 from eBay for 465. Came from HK In 3 says. No customs charges. Flashed a OEM UK firmware and all is great.

And gave up your 2 year UK warranty in the process. Or you can ship it round trip to HK at your expense to have warranty repairs done there. Does Samsung UK even service grey market devices for a fee? Samsung U.S. won't. I had to ship my UK-purchased i9100 back to the UK for a cracked bezel. Caveat Emptor.
The guy I bought it from is a dealer. He will sort any warranty issues and is in the UK. I spoke to him before I bought it.

Well as long as you know a guy, you won't need Samsung's 2-year support then.

You're right I won't. It's 0x1 anyway so I'll claim off household as accidental damage if anything happens.

Got mine from HK too. Not rooted yet but soon will and once it's 0x1 the difficulty of a warranty claim becomes irrelavent.
It cost me £439 inc. import duty.
Got a bill from FedEx . Contacted the seller and he's refunded me already! What a quality seller!
