Plastic strip on back - Nexus 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Would removing the plastic strip cause issues with a retail return? Not planning on returning but just want to make sure since it has the serial number right?

VZW warranty void? Lost my screw.

Just wanted to check before I called Verizon. Anyone have their warranty "VOID" screw come out?
I have a xv6800 and must have dropped it a few too many times as the screw with the "VOID" paint on the screwhead came loose. I left it in the phone but every time I pulled the battery cover the screw would fall out. One more drop and the tiny screw went flying and is lost.
I'm thinking since the phone works I could take it in and have them verify it before something happens on the next drop. I have a flashed DCD rom which I could go back to stock if need be. I just want to avoid having no warranty from a screw that fell out.
I'm getting that bright white area in the lower left screen again and want to have them swap it out without saying my lost screw was the problem.
Honesty is the best policy. Mention the screw, but don't state it as the reason for swapping units. If only one screw is undone, there is no way you could have accessed your chassis.
The reason I urge you to be honest, is this problem is probably already known. I had one client came in with his screws popping out and TELUS replaced his unit for exactly -that- reason.

Removing Torx "VOID" sticker

hey people. has anybody been able to remove the "VOID" sticker where the torx screwdriver supposed to go in? i have a brand new housing to change and i dont want to destroy the sticker. i dont even know if im allowed to ask this question. if im not, my apologies. thanks for reading.
you can ask the question, its just that you might not get many solutions.
The whole idea behind the sticker is to prevent you from opening the device without voiding the warranty. If you used some kind of liquid glue solvent you could theoretically remove it and then glue it back on, but that would require extreme precision.
To remove the sticker put a tiny drop of alcolhol on it, wait a minute and blow some air with high presure in the hole. Then get down on your knees and start searching.

vogue housing dilemma

hello guys,
i've decided that my bell vogue most likely needs to be warrantied (it expires in october), as the front faceplate (top part) of my htc touch came loose. as a result, the power button doesn't always work unless i press in and hold the top part of the faceplate then press the power button as there's pressure. i believe the power button spring functions at 100% when it's secured by the front and rear faceplate pressing inwards?! i'm not too sure why it came loose or what happened, some people have pm'd me saying possibly from constantly always having it on vibration?! the phone's always been in an monaco metal case and hasn't been dropped as i'm meticulous. now in order to tighten the frontal housing, the top 2 screws need to be tightened. 1 screw is easily accessible however, the other is covered with a void sticker as i'm told to prevent people from tampering with the phone. so i guess the only option is to warranty it as any attempts on my own will ruin the sticker. everything works 110% on the phone, no cracks on lcd, black lines, ink etc etc. just that the top Left corner of the front faceplate is protruding out
my concern is that i've read some mixed horror stories of how when phones get sent in to be warrantied, the owner ends up with a $200 bill (bell charges this for the htc touch refurbished replacement that they send you). course, it's possible that these people had water damage/crack screens from drops and tried to claim manufacturer defect. i dunno
just wondering if anyone experienced any similar situations and would like to share. debating whether it's worth it or not cause if i'm outta my beloved smartphone for 3-4 weeks and end up tabulating a significant bill cause they say it's 'my fault' in the end, it's gonna stink. my other course of option is to simply take off void sticker and work my t5 screw driver and see what's up and if something broke, order a $40-50 replacement housing on ebay.
thanks in advanced!
My glossy-white Verizon vogue developed a crack in the casing a few months in, so I replaced it with a matte-finish (Sprint-style) black housing that I ordered brand-new from Hong Kong. I voided the warranty in switching the housing, but it was reasonably easy, completed in one afternoon, and I never developed another problem I couldn't fix myself. So, my 2 cents - make your phone your own, and take a peek inside, warranty be damned.
I agree with brsev! Just make sure you buy a housing for a P3050 not a P3450 like I did.

sticker on back of my new tablet?

So on the back of my new A500 there's a sticker with barcodes on it. It reads:
L-XE H60PN.002
<barcode>
Reconditioned
XEH60PN0021140B7E41500
<barcode>
I'll take a pic when I can. The sticker is really annoying me (and uglying up my new tab )
What is it, would I ever need it for anything , and can I remove it?
Sounds like its not a "new" tablet then... I think the bit about "reconditioned" gives it away....
As long as it runs good, you don't need the sticker. It was for internal manufacturing uses.
It means, as the other poster said, it was turned in for repair for some reason (somebody probably fubarred it during rom flashings or similar
I would use a damp sponge or cloth to get it moist (careful not to run water into the speakers). Hopefully, once it's good and damp, it should come off.
Lay the tablet on a flat scanner and copy the sticker /take picture and print it. So you will have a original copy. Invade you mess it up removing it.
But warm sponge trick does ideally work without to much distruction to the stickers print.
If itsays warranty void if removed .Call acer and tell them its unacceptable tpbeon there
Good luck.
Thanks guys. Gonna be taking Erica's advice. Yes. Its a refurb.

wise choice.
so, as I'm trying to take tthis sticker off without destroying it, well, its not easy. . How do you recommend using a sponge on it? Its a slightly plastic paper sticker.
Try getting the glue damp along edges and pull it over on itself.
If were me I would lay a razor blade flat on the surface and work it slowely thru the glue.being g careful to not scratch the metal.I REMOVED Astupid dealership sticker off the back of my mini van like this. The nurve of them.putting such crap on surface of such a expensive purchased.

Original screws does not fit.

I replaced my Nexus 4 back cover, I took the same screws that were on my old cover and try to put them in the new one.
The screws does not fit well and does not screw all the way down.
Can it be because of the back cover? I orderd it from eBay and it's quality not good.
Please help me!
If you are sure that the screws were the same, then your new backcover isn't original and it isn't good! I suggest you to send it back and buy elsewhere.

I ordered it from eBay, sending it back will cost me the same as the back cover (which arrived cracked).
I looked at the back cover that came with the Nexus and the holes for the screws (from inside) are bigger, thats why I could not screw it all the way in (the new cover is white and the old is black, if it matters).
Anyhow, I installed it without the screws and hope to get a refund as the product is low quality, probably not original (but the description says the brand is LG) and it arrived broken.
